A few hours later.
Silver was walking now along the icy river that spanned Tundratown. It was his regularly irregular walk. It was perfect. Quiet, long, cold enough to have a breeze, isolated. Sometimes even a body starts bobbing down the river so peacefully. They are never living but that water is basically lethally cold. This didn't stop him from sometimes dipping his paws into the water. He carried on walking then saw something floating slowly down the river but to his surprise, it wasn't frozen and covered in ice. Then he noticed the outfit he was wearing. "Hmm, that seems extremely rare to be found. Wonder how he got that. Also wonder how Spectre got two of them but he's different."
He walked up to the body and tread through the water to grab the body.
Henry's POV
Henry woke up and with a hazy daze looked around. He then saw a grey fox in an unzipped jacket, hoodie and a white T-shirt. That grey fox then grabbed Henry's shoulders and pulled him out. He was about to use his paws to check if Henry had a pulse but Henry started to stir and stand up on the snowy land. He looked at the fox, nodding his head gently to signify him thanking the fox. He rubbed his eye and felt a sticky liquid around it. He then looked at his paw and saw blood covering it. He sighed and then tried to reach for his knife, only to find it missing. He then pulled his mask off and given his paw to shake. The grey fox reached for it and returned the gesture. "So who are you and how did you get that suit?" Henry frowned realising what was going on. He then signed that he can't talk.
The grey fox looked at the paws of the mammal he saved and groaned. "Seriously? Well, I guess you can keep a secret then. By the way, I don't know what you said but I recognise that you can't talk." The foxes smiled. "Name's Silver." Henry nodded then started to walk off. "Hey, wait." He turned around and looked at Silver. "You should come with me." Silver then pulled out a phone and called someone. "Hey, could you pick me up?" Then there was a slight pause. "Yeah, down the ice river. There's a plus one." Silver then rolled his eyes. Henry laughed silently in response. Silver looked at the mammal with cold eyes. Henry slowly proceeded to stop laughing. "I know, I know, just get here. I'll see you later." He then frowned. "Don't call me that." All that was heard was loud laughing from the other end before Silver hung up. "Well, we got a ride back to my place, I guess. Also I assume not a good friend of Big." Henry showed his paws and twisted them slightly. "I guess I'll find out what you mean soon." Henry nodded. "So, what now?" Henry shrugged then sat down, grabbing his head. "Worse than I thought. Don't worry, you will be treated by a colleague of mine."
Henry nodded slowly before collapsing completely. Everything then went black.
Silver's POV.
"Seriously, he's out cold? Fuck." That was when bad went to worse.
"What's that noise?"
"I told you, we will search the river until we find the body!"
Then with a more eastern accent, there was a response. "Da, we understand. Do you think he survived?"
"With what he was wearing, who knows."
"Quiet you two, he may be alive and we would alert him to our presence." Then there was silence.
Silver whispered to himself. "Well, at least my tail will be useful now." He picked up the body and started to move away as quickly as he could but the black fox was quite surprisingly heavy. "No wonder you collapsed, you're heavier than a bag a bricks." As he walked, he swished his tail to clear his steps. He was proud of that idea.
After a few minutes of walking, Silver gently placed the unconscious body down and let him rest. Then he did the same. "Hopefully this is far enough." After a few seconds of thought, Silver threw some snow over the body to hide it a bit. "If you survived the water, you can survive this." That was when he started to hear low-level chatter from where he came. That was when he realised he left some prints. He silently facepalmed then looked around. There he saw a bunch of polar bears searching the area alongside a vixen of some sorts. "Who is she?" He then ducked behind the rocks again and pulled out his pistol. "Wasn't planning on using this today." he stated disappointedly.
Now he waited, waited for his ride to show up or for one of them to rear their ugly heads.
After a few minutes, Silver started hearing snow start to crunch. Instantly, his ears spiked up and he listened closely. The crunching grew louder and louder. It was heavy enough for Silver to know that it was one of the bears. When the bear was close enough, he stood up and aimed his gun at the bears head. "Woah, no need for such aggression. Wait, why are you here? Is this trick?"
"Hmm? What do you mean?"
"I mean why is the leader of the Savannah here?"
"Oh, funny story, I was just having a nice stroll."
"Then why are you hiding and pointing a gun at me?" The bear then looked away for a second and noticed the unconscious body. "Oh, that's funny, we want him."
"Why?"
"I don't know, we don't question the boss."
"Big's orders?"
"Eeeh, kind of?"
Silver looked perplexed at the bear, he wasn't sure how to respond. He wanted to stall, but it couldn't just be any topic. "Well, we had nice chat, but I need to do this. Forgive me?"
"Depends. What are you going to do?"
Then the bear turned his head and yelled as loud as he could. "THEY ARE OVER HERE, I FOUND BODY!"
"Fuck." Silver then shot his gun, the bullet going through the bear's jaw and exiting through the top of his skull. "I'll forgive you if you forgive me." Then he heard a vehicle approaching from the other side. "Oh come on." He muttered to himself and pointed his pistol towards the sound of the engine.
It was a jeep, one where the driver was Waller. "You're lucky I was this close to you."
"Yeah, yeah, hurry up."
"Who is this?"
"I don't know but that suit is mighty fascinating."
Waller looked at what the fox was wearing and agreed. "Yeah, lets get him on."
"Quick, others are coming." The two picked up the body and threw him in the back. "Where's the medkit?"
"On the back, hurry up." Silver darted to the back and tried to grab the medkit.
"It's stuck."
"What do you mean 'it's stuck'?"
"I mean I can't take it out."
Waller pulled out a knife and slid it down. "Use it, and cut the rope." The knife slid under the black fox's leg and hit the back. Silver picked it up as quickly as he could and cut the straps. He pulled out the medkit and jumped on.
"Ok, go." Waller pressed down on the pedal violently as Silver saw a vixen running towards them. He ducked down to avoid being seen. "Best I'm not seen."
"Yeah, that is true. We wouldn't want to fight them." Waller turned onto a small dirt road. "Hopefully they don't follow."
"I wouldn't be so sure, after all they have a lot of mammals around here."
"Fuck, we aren't exactly the most discreet vehicle around." Waller gripped the wheel. "There should be my rifle just in case."
"Too big for me, you know that." Silver flatly stated while opening up the medkit to treat the unknown fox.
"Well, better than dying."
"I have my pistol. That should be enough."Waller turned around and eyed his boss sternly. "I promise." Waller shook his head and carried on driving.
That was when a bike showed up. The bike sped up and carried a vixen on it. "Who the fuck is that?"
"I don't know who that is."
"Well that isn't good."
Silver looked on and when he was about to fire, he noticed that there was an entire armada of trucks behind the bike. "Err, think you can go faster?"
"What do you- Oh you are fucking with me." Waller looked around and decided to drive into the arctic woods. "Well, you better hold on." Silver grabbed the back and started firing his pistol, hoping that against all odds, it will be enough. "By the way, how's that pistol doing?"
"Fuck off." Silver shot into many vehicles, trying to either damage the engine or kill the driver. After a few magazines being spent, he taken out about a dozen vehicles. "I'm running low on ammo."
"My rifle is literally right there. Fucking use it."
"I really can't."
"Wait, I never saw you use any rifle, don't tell me you don't know how to."
"Errr..."
"Fucking hell. Yeah, you'll probably drop it." Silver carried on firing.
The black fox then woke up with a hazy daze. He drew his paw to his face and wiped some of the blood off. He then heard the wide range of bullets being exchanged, one way and the other. He quickly woke up fully and instinctively grabbed the large rifle that was beside him. He sat up and started firing precise shots at the horde of machines that roared violently behind them.
After the first magazine, he reloaded then switched to full auto. When he aimed, he had a small smirk on his muzzle as he was pulling the trigger. Then he sprayed into the vehicles and caused many of them to stop or crash into a nearby tree. However then he got his shoulder injured by a stray bullet. He replaced the rifle in the jeep as gently as he could.
He looked around and realised that Silver's pistol was the only gun he could use that was around. He snatched the pistol from Silver's paw. "Woah, warn me next time." Henry looked back at him. "Right." Henry aimed the pistol and took his time before firing his shot. The bullet flew from the barrel and towards the vixen. It travelled through the air before it landed in the bike's tire, puncturing it. The bike swerved out of control and started to roll on its side. The vixen flew out of her bike and landed in mud. She raised her head and growled. She slammed her paw into the mud out of frustration.
She wasn't used to failing like this. She knew, she would have to return with this failure burdening her return.
Waller looked behind him and noticed the lack of any tails. "That's all of them?"
"I hope so." Silver responded, looking down the path behind them. Then they heard another engine from before. "Are you fucking kidding me?" It was the damned vixen again. Her bike was still working miraculously.
She yelled out aggressively. "I'M NOT DONE YET!"
Waller turned around. "Boss, take the wheel, let me do something about this."
Silver turned around. "Fine, but don't get yourself killed all of a sudden." Waller got up, knowing that he drove enough to have momentum to keep them moving for a short while. Silver then sat down and started moving the jeep, pushing it to its limits. Waller grabbed his rifle and fired controlled bursts into the bike, aiming for the engine. "Hold on, sharp turn."
"Wait, but that's..."
"Yeah, it is, why do you think I sped up."
"You've been with Spectre too long all of a sudden." The black fox perked up and looked at them suspiciously.
"I've only been with him once. What do you mean?" Silver asked questioningly as he turned sharply. After the turn, he saw the jump and then slammed the gas. As he edged closer and closer, he pulled the handbrake and slammed the brake, while turning swiftly. This caused the vixen to speed past and make the jump.
"DON'T THINK THIS IS OVER!"
Silver then drove off, hoping that he wasn't going to be followed anymore. "You got lucky."
"Bro, are you gonna complain that we escaped?"
"Yes, because the method was anticlimactic."
"I was hoping she would fail the jump and crash at the bottom."
"Well, she clearly didn't."
"Is that what it's like to have a psychotic girlfriend?"
"Why, you considering having one?" Waller sat down in the back, keeping an eye on their new found comrade.
Silver looked at Waller in the rear-view mirror. "Not really one for psychotic types." He chuckled awkwardly.
"Lets just get back."
"I can second that notion."
A few hours later. Evening.
"We're here." Henry looked around, unsure if he should continue. Silver noticed the uncertainty in the fox's eyes and added. "It will be completely safe in there." Silver and Henry jumped out of the jeep.
"Hey, I'm gonna go back to doing what I was doing before."
"Yeah, yeah, you can go."
"Cool." Waller drove off. The two foxes walked into the abandoned police station and Silver knew what he was going to do. What he did first was show the fox to a room where he could stay, which the fox graciously accepted. When shown the room, he wanted to jump into the bed but was stopped when Silver pointed to the black fox's eye. Henry nodded and reluctantly followed, heading to the infirmary.
"Hey, Doc, you have another one."
"You somehow manage to find so many injured mammals, how does that happen?"
"I have a knack for having poor luck."
"Yeah, I would believe that." The otter looked at the black fox. After a quick examination by sight, he sighed. "This will be a long night."
"Something wrong?"
"Yes, it looks like he got hit by a truck in his chest and face, how he is alive I will never know."
"Never doubt a fox's cunning."
"I think that suit does more than just conceal him." He pointed to the bed. "Please lay down." Then he turned to Silver. "And you let me work in peace."
"Just take him to my office when done."
A/N: Well, what a lucky save. Henry will return later but right now, he will need to recover.
Honestly, I don't know who will be next so stay tuned to find out.
Well, recently the queen died so I guess may she rest wherever she may lie. She will be missed.
With all that said, I wish you all a good one and I will see you next time. Adios.
