Cole and Harumi lightly chattered as they headed to their shared History class. It had been a normal day for the pack. They had gone through their morning routines and arrived at the school with no problem. Cole had heard something on the radio about a school on fire, but he thought nothing of it as he picked Kai and Nya up to drive them all to school. As they passed the front entrance to the school, the pair stopped when they heard the screeching of tires outside.
They stopped and looked out the giant glass doors and saw that a beaten-up bus had pulled into the school's parking lot.
The bus doors opened and a middle-aged man stepped out. He was a caucasian male with a muscular build and had brown hair. He wore a business suit, with a white shirt underneath and a black tie. He shouted something into the bus and five teenagers followed him out and they approached the school. As the group got closer to the school, the pair got a good look at the five new teens. The first was a girl with skin so pale she looked almost like a corpse.
She had long black hair tied into a high ponytail and dark brown eyes with purple makeup.
She was wearing purple and black biker gear and had a purple bandana around her neck. Another girl that walked out had short black hair fashioned in a bob cut, dark brown eyes, and red lipstick. She wore clothing in various shades of red and gold with a gold phoenix and a large golden bracelet with a red jewel on her left arm. After her, was a young boy who looked to be no older than fourteen. He had shaggy ginger hair with green eyes, and he wore a blue sweater with tanned pants and thin glasses.
Next was a guy with silver hair with grey streaks in the front
Like the girl, he was wearing dark bike rider gear, with a tight sleeveless vest. The next person to get off the bus was someone so big and muscular that Cole and Harumi thought it was a full-grown man at first. Until they got closer and they both realized that they were a girl. She had shaven brown hair, tanned skin, large muscles, and dark blue eyes, and she was wearing an orange and green jumpsuit. The last one to get off the bus was a thin boy.
His hair was dark brown with the ends of the front dyed light green in color and his eyes were light amber.
He was wearing a brown t-shirt with a green snake pirate printed on it and dark green pants. Cole and Harumi shared a look, but neither of them had a chance to say anything before the man suddenly burst through the doors. He was dragging the ginger-haired boy along by the collar and the other four were following close behind.
"Get in there!" He shouted as he violently shoved the smallest teen into the school.
"Leave him alone!" Cole snapped as he tried to help the boy up, only for him to glare at the noirette and storm off.
"What is going on?" Jay asked as he, Kai, Lloyd, and Morro arrived, having heard the commotion and came to see what was going on.
"You!" Kai suddenly roared and he shot forward, suddenly grabbing the teen Cole had tried to help and forcing him up against the wall.
"Kai! What the fuck?!" Harumi screeched as Cole and Morro forced the brunette off the new kid.
"He's the son of a bitch who stole all my stuff at Granite Hills High, and HE is the shit principal who did fuck all about it!" Kai shouted as he angrily pointed towards the man who had come with the new teens.
"But why don't you know how long they're going to stay?" Lloyd asked, eyeing the group of strangers wearily, but Koko could only shrug.
"Because we don't know how bad the fire damage is yet." She said and with that said she dismissed everyone from the assembly hall.
"I heard Granite Hills was burnt to the ground." Morro hummed as he and his friends headed for their next lessons, remembering something he heard while his foster parents were watching the news at breakfast.
"I wish Gene had gone up in flames too." Kai snarled under his breath but everyone still heard it and they all gave him a horrified look. "Wait until he steals your stuff and then tells me about it." He snapped, but they all looked at him in disbelief. "What? If it isn't glued down, I'm telling you, he will have it." He insisted, but when none of them looked convinced, he growled and stormed off. He knew that he was right, and he would put money on them regretting knowing Gene...
Koko sighed in tired irritation as she once again arrived at a school that was descended into complete chaos. It was supposed to be her day off today but the principal had called her saying there was an emergency and some students from Granite Hills High had been transferred to Ninjago High and he needed all hands on deck. Even though Koko had been looking forward to a day of relaxing she couldn't find it within herself to ignore the school and her students.
So she had gotten into her car and drove straight to Ninjago High.
When she got there she found a large crowd of students in the hallway that led to the principal's office. There were a few of the large gym teachers there as well to push the crowd back since the school didn't have proper security. As Koko started making her way through the crowd, she managed to pick up bits and pieces of how the students were feeling. Chad was talking to his gang and she thought that they said something about fresh meat, but Koko decided to deal with that later.
Cole was busy trying to restrain an enraged and snarling Kai from running towards the principal's office.
Dareth was looking around and seemed just as confused as she was. Harumi was talking with Maggie and the other cheerleaders, but Koko couldn't make out what was said. Jay was discussing what happened to Kai at Granite Hills with Nya and the couple kept glancing over their shoulders at the brunette as he continued to struggle in his boyfriend's arms. Lloyd was asking Morro for his opinion about the situation. Although she couldn't make out what the lone wolf was saying, it didn't look like a positive one.
As usual Pixal and Zane were simply keeping to themselves and weren't making a fuss as they patiently waited for answers.
Koko eventually made it through the crowd and rounded the corner to find a line of Granite Hills High students against the wall by the door. They all were all wearing name tags so the teacher didn't need to ask for them. Their names were Violet O'Hara but she preferred Ultra Violet, Delara Swann, Gene Vincent, Luke Cunningham, Nicole Oliver but she liked to be called Dogshank, and finally, there was Clancee Corlett. She tried to say hello but they either glared at her or ignored her.
Koko didn't know what to do so she just walked into the office and saw her principal talking with the Granite Hills High principal.
"Miss Koko, you remember Lawrence Thompson, right?" He smiled nervously and when she nodded, he turned to the other man. "Lawrence, this is Miss Koko, my second in command." He introduced but when she extended her hand for a welcoming shake, Lawrence rudely brushed her off.
"Early this morning, there was a fire at Granite Hills High." He said coldly, with a hint of anger in his voice.
"A fire? Is everyone all right? What happened?" She asked, thinking back to the group standing in their hall. She hadn't seen any signs of physical injury, but there was always mental and emotional trauma to think about.
"Calm down miss, they're fine." Lawrence quickly assured her. "We just had to move a few of the kids in here and after your boss here called some of your students' parents they have agreed to let our students stay at theirs since this isn't a boarding school." He explained as his eyes scanned the two adults in front of him and the office as if looking for cracks.
"And Lawrence will be joining our staff for a while, just until they sort Granite Hills High out." The principal smiled, although Koko could see it was a little strained.
"Relax, I'm not here to take over, I've got enough on my plate already." He chuckled and that did ease some of the tension in the room. But it soon came back when Lawrence walked over to the principal's desk and dropped his bag on it. "Would you clear up some of your stuff?"...
The lunch soon rang and all the students flocked to gather in the cafeteria. There had been no reported incidents with the new students, which Koko was very grateful for. She was currently showing Lawrence around the Ninjago High's grounds and he wasn't very impressed. There were no guards, no bars on the windows, and no padlocks on the doors and cabinets. This would not do. All this school had in terms of security was a few cameras scattered about and a panic button at the front desk that set off an alarm and alerted the police.
In his mind, it's no wonder this school was under investigation during the budget cuts.
This place was a disaster just waiting to happen. Sat at their usual table, most of the pack were enjoying their dinner. At first, Kai kept growling at the Granite Hills High students, but mostly at Gene. Cole had to take his boyfriend away when Kai's eyes started flashing yellow and his veins started turning black. Harumi was sat at her usual table with her cheerleader group as they debated whether or not to ask Ultra Violet and Delara if they wanted to attend the cheerleader tryouts.
Morro had just gotten off the phone to his foster parents.
They told him that Clancee would be staying with them until Granite Hills High was repaired. As he told his friends this, Morro looked over at the Granite Hills High students. They sat three tables away from the pack but he could still see Clancee wasn't with them. He looked around and saw the skinny boy sitting on the floor in the corner by the trash cans. He wasn't saying anything and was picking at his food. Morro couldn't help but feel back for the new kid.
He didn't know Clancee's backstory and he never met the kid, but he did know what attending a school like Granite Hills High was like.
Morro also remembered what he was like when he started attending Ninjago High and when he first moved in with Dobsons. He might have been a short-tempered loner, but they all reached out and helped him. Morro suddenly grabbed his lunch and made his way over to Clancee, focused on getting to know the skinny boy and inviting him to join the pack or the rest of lunch. He was only a few feet away from Clancee and was about to introduce himself before Morro suddenly found his way blocked by an enraged Lawrence Thompson.
"He has to be on his own," Lawrence said firmly as he looked down at the teen. Koko saw the confrontation and she quickly rushed forward. A few other students, including the pack and the Granite Hills High students, had taken notice and were glancing over. Some were even placing bets on who would win in a fight between Morro and Lawrence Thompson.
"Wouldn't he prefer company?" Morro argued with a light glare of his own.
"Not if I say he has to be alone."
"Perhaps your students would like to take part in some of our extracurricular activities?" Koko suggested, not wanting any trouble or fights to break out.
"Wherever you stick them, kids are trouble." Lawrence shrugged, looking bored and slightly irritated. This caused Koko's eyes to widen slightly, not sure if she heard him right, and Morro's frown deepened as he felt his wanting to break free and tear this man to shreds. Before anyone could say anything else, one of the new students, Gene, suddenly ran towards his friends with his dinner tray overflowing with food.
"Check this place out! You can get as much food as you like, and there were no guards and padlocks in sight!" He squealed like a kid on Christmas morning until he finally noticed Lawrence standing a few feet away and he cowered away slightly.
"Yeah, they'll be getting some now you're here."
"We prefer to trust our young people, Lawrence." Koko frowned, not liking the way his students reacted when they saw him.
"Yeah, help yourself, Gene," Morro smirked in defiance, but this only caused Lawrence to burst out laughing.
"I wouldn't tell him to help himself, but there speaks the voice of inexperience." He smiled condescendingly at the werewolf, hoping for a reaction, which he quickly got.
"I've got plenty of experience of the system." He snarled and Lawrence's eyes narrowed in confusion for a moment before he finally figured it out.
"Ah, a foster kid."
"Yeah and proud of it," Morro said without a hint of hesitation. He may find himself wondering how his life might have turned out if his parents were still alive, but then he thinks about his life now. If his parents hadn't died then he probably wouldn't have come to Ninjago City. Then he, Lloyd, and all the others wouldn't have met and become best friends. He most likely wouldn't have met Harumi and they wouldn't be together now. Morro loved his parents and although he wished they were here today, he wouldn't change anything about his life.
"Well, I wouldn't risk keeping him enrolled here, but good for you for giving him a chance." Lawrence smiled at Koko as if she had just said that she had jumped off a cliff to save a stray dog or something. "Let's crack on with the paperwork, shall we?" He suggested and the teachers began to make their way back to the office. Morro was about to chase after them and teach that principal a lesson, but a sharp, warning glare from Koko stopped him in his tracks.
During all this Clancee hadn't moved a muscle and continued to stare at his lunch.
Morro watched as the pair walked away and with a growl, he began making his way back to his group.
"Welcome to the world of pain that is Principal Lawrence Thompson." He heard Luke mutter under his breath and that was all the lone wolf needed to hear to know that this was only the beginning...
After the confrontation between Lawrence and Morro, the Granite Hills High principal hadn't been seen since Koko led him to the office. A few of the students, including most of the pack, had the period free and they were gathered in the student common room. The room had a few sofas and chairs scattered around and a fluffy carpet. In the corner of the room was a shelving unit filled with dozens of puzzles and board games for the students to use.
Most of the jigsaws were missing a few pieces, however.
The room also had a foosball table, a dartboard, and a snooker table. Cole and Jay were in the room, having a game of snooker. Harumi was in an art class. Kai was in the gym, but he should be finished soon. Morro had detention for missing homework. He tried to tell his Spanish teacher that a dog had eaten it, but they didn't believe him. During the last full moon, he had been doing his homework down in the den and had forgotten to take it.
By the time Morro realized it was too late and when the sun rose that morning, all that was left was a few shreds of paper.
Nya, Pixal, and Zane were with Lloyd in the library, helping the blond teen study for an upcoming biology test. Some of the Granite Hills High students were also there too. Ultra Violet and Delara were sat on one of the couches, whispering and giggling about something, but Jay and Cole couldn't bring themselves to care and listen in. Gene and Luke were sat at one of the tables having a game of fish. No one knew where Dogshank or Clancee were.
The peace was suddenly shattered when Kai burst into the room, holding up his favorite brand of hair spray he used after his gym class.
His teeth were gritted and he looked ready to kill as he marched toward the new students. Cole and Jay watched him carefully, scared he might start wolfing out.
"Which one of you Granite Hills bastards stole half of my hair spray?!" He roared but no one said anything. When no one came forward, Kai fixed his fiery rage onto Gene. "It was you, wasn't it?"
"Catch me smelling like a queer!" Gene laughed loudly and Kai made to lung at him, only for Cole to grab him again and drag him out of the room. He pulled his smaller boyfriend down the hall and shoved him into a broom closet. In the short time, it took Cole to get Kai here, the brunette's eyes had turned yellow, his teeth and claws had sharpened, and the veins on the back of his hands and his neck had started to darken. If Cole didn't calm him down soon, Kai would wolf out.
That was the last thing anyone wanted.
"Calm down, babe," Cole growled lowly as Kai struggled in his grasp.
"You don't know what it was like, you weren't there!" Kai snarled as he tried to claw at the door, almost as if it was Gene's face.
"Starting to feel like I was the way you keep going on and on about it." Cole rolled his eyes as Kai started to take deep breaths to calm his inner wolf.
"Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't know it was his; I hope he isn't too upset." Delara suddenly squeaked as she faintly blushed. Cole couldn't tell if she was being sincere or if she was up to something. Delara didn't look intimidating, to Cole at least, but she was also from Granite Hills High. Who knows what she was capable of. Delara then stepped into Jay's face and brushed her short, dark hair in his face.
"Did I get the smell of smoke out?" She asked the freckled teen with a warm smile.
"Um, y-y-yeah, I think so!" He stammered as briefly sniffed her hair and his face turned a bright scarlet. Delara gave him a pleased hum as she walked away, with Jay's eyes following her every move until he saw Cole glaring at him. The large werewolf released a frustrated groan before he stormed off down the hall. He wanted to find Kai and make sure he didn't do anything stupid. He followed his boyfriend's scent until he found Kai near the art classrooms.
He was talking to Harumi about what had happened.
It seemed that Kai nor Harumi knew he was there, so Cole stayed hidden around the corner and activated his enhanced hearing.
"That's it? Because somebody used your hair spray? Get a life." Harumi laughed, but Kai wasn't amused.
"It's still stealing!"
"You're just looking for an excuse to get back at Gene for what happened." She replied, but when Kai still looked angry, she sighed. "Look, Kai, Granite Hills High was ages ago, just forget it." She told him as sincerely, yet as firmly as possible. She knew that she didn't know Kai or the other members of the pack very long, but she had felt she had to say something. Not that the brunette would take any notice of her.
"Well, I thought I had, till I saw him, and now I just can't stop thinking about it!" He growled, his eyes filled with hate and flashing yellow for a second. "Come on, Harumi, can you just help me show him what it's like to lose all your stuff, please?" He begged, vividly remembering all the horrible things Harumi thought up when she was bullying them. But Harumi said nothing and shook her head. When she and Morro started dating, she promised him and herself that she would never hurt people again.
She had even started secretly going to therapy to help deal with her issues.
Kai growled in frustration and stormed off to who knows where. Harumi and the still hiding Cole could only hope Kai didn't take things too far...
After the school day finished, Morro had taken Clancee back to the Dobsons house where he would be staying. The couple greeted the pair and told Morro to show Clancee to the spare room while they made dinner. He nodded and took the boy to the spare room. As soon as they entered, Clancee rushed to the corner furthest from the door and just stood there silently. Morro said nothing about this except how sorry he was that the room was so bare.
The floorboards were a light chestnut brown and the walls were painted a pastel blue.
There was a single bed in the center of the bedroom, a closet, a bedside table, and a small chest at the foot of the bed. This room used to belong to a little girl but the Dobsons hadn't done much with it since she was moved just after Morro had arrived. As Morro helped him unpack, a large piece of fabric that could pass as a thin blanket suddenly fell out of the bag. Morro picked it up and saw it had things like pirate ships and genies embroidered into it.
"This is nice, where do you want this?" He asked, only for Clancee to snatch it back and he quickly moved back to the corner.
"I-I-I made it." He stammered after a moment.
"Oh, then you should hang out with Nelson, he's really into arts and crafts, too." Morro smiled kindly but Clancee said nothing and kept his gaze to the ground. Morro frowned in thought, wanting this boy to trust him and settle in. With a quick smile, he left the room for a few minutes before he soon returned with Nelson at his side, holding some of the arts and crafts stuff he had made. Clancee looked up at them and his eyes widened slightly at the appearance of this new stranger.
"This is Nelson, the kid I was telling you about." Morro introduced then and nodded to his foster brother. Nelson smiled and sat on the bed, but Clancee didn't move a muscle. The boy spread his crafts out over the bedsheets for Clancee to see.
"I brought some stuff I made to show you," Nelson said and held up a small cushion for Clancee to take. "I made this, what do you think?" He asked but the new boy refused to move and it looked like he was trembling slightly. Morro sighed and decided it would be best if they left him alone to settle in, leading Nelson out of the room. He was determined to find a way to help the boy, but he needed to know more about him first. He asked the Dobsons, but they either had little information or they couldn't tell him.
It might be a bit of both.
Clancee wasn't technically a foster child so they probably weren't given all the information and whatever information they were given was probably protected. Morro considered asking the other Granite Hills High student, but he doubted they would talk to anyone. He had no choice but to talk to Lawrence Thompson. The next day at school, Morro searched the entire building until he found the other principal in the teacher's lounge.
"I've been trying to think of the best ways to get through to Clancee, any ideas?" He asked and Lawrence thought about it for a moment, then shrugged.
"Yeah, leave him alone and make sure nobody touches him." He said and started to walk away.
"What kind of an answer is that?" Morro scoffed as he chased after him.
"It's one based on experience, so drop the attitude! There's nothing you can do anyway." Lawrence snapped.
"I'm glad my friends and foster family didn't think that when they met me." He huffed and Lawrence turned to glare at him. "I might not be like Clancee, but I still needed someone to make a difference."
"It wasn't a very big one, was it?" Lawrence snorted, having read Morro's file in the school records. "A care kid who's been on the run and in trouble with the law with shit grades?"
"Why the fuck are you having a go at me? I'm trying to find out the best way to help Clancee!" He snarled, but Lawrence didn't look threatened at all.
"Yeah? Come on." He smirked and Morro followed down the halls until they came to a small, empty classroom. Clancee was sitting at a desk, being the only person in the room. He had a textbook open in front of him with a pencil case to the side. His head snapped up as the door opened and he quickly returned his eyes to the textbook as the pair entered. Lawrence smiled as he approached and sat next to him, extremely close and Morro could feel everything in Clancee freeze.
"Hiya, Clancee, do you like your new room with the Dobsons?" He asked in a sickly sweet voice. Clancee gave no reaction, but thanks to his enhanced hearing Morro could hear his heart pounding like a drum. "Do you want to go and sit with the other students? Shall I find you a new book to read or something?" He asked only to be met with silence again. Lawrence seemed satisfied and he stood up and almost pushed Morro out of the classroom.
"See? He's happier when left alone." He smiled at the lone wolf, but when Morro still didn't look convinced his expression darkened and a scowl formed on the teacher's face. "If you want to bash your head against a brick wall, be my guest, but if you set him off trying to prove me wrong, you'll be sorry." He warned the teen and began walking away, making sure to bang his shoulder into Morro's shoulder as he walked past.
"Don't threaten me!" Morro shouted after him, but Lawrence didn't react as he disappeared and Morro glanced back at the door to the classroom Clancee was in. From inside, the lone wolf thought he could hear the boy lightly crying...
Nya sighed in frustration as she ran down the school halls. She had a home economics project due in ten minutes that she needed someone to test before she submitted it. She had a box full of colorfully decorated cupcakes she had baked last night. Cole would have been her first choice, but he was currently in a Spanish quiz with Kai, Harumi, Lloyd, and Zane. She had seen Morro but he just walked past her, muttering something about Lawrence and Clancee under his breath.
She thought about asking Pixal, but she figured the human was studying somewhere.
The noirette was following Jay's scent, hoping he would give her cupcakes a positive review. As she got closer to Jay's position, however, she picked up another scent and realized that her boyfriend wasn't alone. Now even more determined, she marched forward and soon found Jay in an art storage room. He was in there with Delara. They had been in an art class together and the teacher had asked them to get some supplies. Thanks to all the paints and cleaning chemicals, Jay couldn't pick up Nya's scent and he was too distracted to hear her breathing.
Nya quickly hid behind the door and listened to their conversation.
She soon realized that Delara was telling Jay about an incident between her and his girlfriend during their gym class the other day. Nya had left the showers after the class and found Delara looking through the female werewolf's bag. Remembering what had happened to Kai at Granite Hills High, Nya saw red and warned Delara that if she caught the human messing with her stuff again she would regret it.
"Then she threw all her stuff in the locker and said she would beat me up if I touched her stuff." Delara whimpered as she recounted the painful memory. Nya's enraged eyes narrowed at the lie. Yes, she had told Delara not to touch her stuff, but she never threatened to beat her up. For some reason, however, Jay seemed to buy this story with no hesitation.
"You tell me if she tries anything." He told her, only to register his own words. "She wouldn't beat me up, right?" He chuckled nervously as he looked around, almost as if he expected Nya to show up behind him like some cheesy horror movie.
"I don't think so, but try and stay out of her way." She advised him before sighing. "Sorry, I didn't mean to dump all this on you, but she's super scary." She trembled as she looked around to make sure no one was around to hear what she said next. "You've got to keep this to yourself, but it's so long since I've had to share that I've forgotten how; I mean, what if I touched something of hers by accident, like with that guy's hair spray?!" She cried in fear.
Jay made a mental note to talk to Kai about his temper later.
"I think Nya's acting like this because she's trying to show loyalty to Kai." He explained and thought about it for a moment. "Maybe you should talk to his sister Nya, she can talk to Kai and get him to apologies to you for freaking you out." He suggested, but she didn't look convinced.
"No, it's the sharing that's freaking me out." She replied before she suddenly paled and started gagging violently. "Oh, I feel a bit sick! I think I'm having a panic attack! Can you open a window?!"
"Yeah, should I get a bucket or Mr. Thompson?" He asked as he quickly opened the classroom windows and brought the trash can over for her.
"No! Just stay." She said weakly as she snuggled closer. Jay reluctantly allowed her to do this and he rubbed her back to comfort her and considered taking her to the nurse in case she started throwing up. "Sorry, I'm being such a girl, I'll be fine...honestly." She sniffled and suddenly went to hug him, only to accidentally knock his bag off the desk and spill his books and a few gadgets onto the floor. That's not all that fell out though. There was a large envelope that was filled with cash and a small, framed photograph.
Delara quickly apologized and started cleaning up the mess, her eyes lingering on the photo.
The photo was of a beautiful woman who looked to be in her very late twenties to early forties. She was wearing a dark sapphire blue sweater with what looked like a white lightning design stitched into it, black jeans, and matching combat boots. The woman looked almost exactly like Jay except for her long blonde hair and stormy blue eyes.
"Oh, that's a picture of my Mom." Jay smiled as he took the picture back put it back in the bag. "Well, my birth mother." He added with an awkward chuckle.
"I've got one of my Mom too; she's in the hospital right now," Delara replied and Nya decided she had heard enough. As quietly as she could, the noirette walked away to find someone else to help her...
Harumi eyed the hallway nervously she was slowly walking down it carefully. She had just finished a geography lesson and was just heading to the restroom but when she stepped into the quiet hallway, something made her pause. She couldn't explain why, but there was something down here that made her anxious. All the lead cheerleader could see, however, was an ordinary hallway with lockers and a few doors to the classrooms along the walls.
It was times like this where Harumi wished she was a werewolf, like Morro.
Their enhanced hearing, sight, and the smell would come in handy in alerting her of any danger. She couldn't help but be a little jealous of her boyfriend and their friend's unique powers. She also had a feeling that Pixal felt the same and she didn't blame her. Werewolves were stronger, faster, and more graceful than humans and possessed heightened senses, among other supernatural abilities. But she also knew that there were many dangers to being a werewolf.
The main one is humans. For hundreds of years, humans hunted werewolves ferociously, killing them by the thousands.
This was evident by the werewolf bones that were found in Dareth's backyard that brought Dr. Terri Kiken to Ninjago City. Harumi shuddered as she remembered what that made doctor and her father tried to do to Morro, Kai, and Nya. Her father had wisely never brought up the word werewolves or Dr. Terri Kiken since. As far as Harumi knows, her mother didn't know what had happened. Regardless, it was clear that they didn't approve of her relationship with Morro, especially her father.
But neither of them said anything, not that she would listen anyway, and her father and Morro made a point to avoid each other like the plague.
When Harumi made it to the restroom, she thought she was safe. As she finished her business and flushed, however, an avalanche of thick, soapy bubbles suddenly erupted from the toilets. Harumi screamed as she was buried and by the time she escaped the restroom, she was covered from head to toe in bubbles and foam. She looked like some kind of bubble monster.
"What...the...FOAM?!" She screeched, only to hear laughter coming down the hall. She whipped around and saw Gene at the end of the hallway, holding a plastic bag filled with dish soap, bubble bath, and shampoo. Harumi instantly saw red and began charging at the boy. Gene's laughter quickly turned to screams as he ran from the raging cheerleader. "Come back here you little fucker!" She roared as she chased the prankster. Gene weaved around corners and up and down flights of stairs but he couldn't shake her.
He quickly found a janitor closet and locked himself inside as Harumi was inches from the door.
The locked door had a glass window which allowed Harumi to glare daggers at him as she banged and kicked at the door.
"Open up! You are seriously making it worse for yourself!" She warned but when Gene refused to let her in she started slamming her body against the door. After Harumi had backed up and he didn't hear anything for a while, Gene looked through the window. He saw that Harumi had backed to the end of the hallway, ready to bust the door down for good. She then charged at full speed. Gene quickly opened the door and she charged straight into the closet, slamming into a wall.
Taking advantage of the momentary distraction, Gene bolted out of the room and took off down the hall.
It took Harumi a few seconds to recover, but that was all he needed. As she ran out of the room, she realized that he was long gone and she was out of stamina. As Harumi caught her breath, she vowed she would get Gene back for this. He had better watch his back for the rest of his time at Ninjago High. As she looked for somewhere to get cleaned up, not trusting the restrooms, Harumi bumped into Kai.
"What's up?" He asked when he saw her bubble-covered clothes.
"Gene." She snarled through gritted teeth. Despite this, Kai couldn't be happier.
"So do you want me to help you get your own back on him?" He smirked and her raging silence was answer enough. The pair secretly made their way toward the usually empty school lockers that had been assigned to the Granite Hills High students. After making sure no one was nearby, they made their move. Using Kai's enhanced sense of smell, they found Gene's locker and Harumi picked the lock open. The only things inside were a large backpack and a gym bag.
They took both bags and made to leave the school, only to almost walk into Cole.
The noirette took in the scene and was immediately suspicious.
"What's going on? What's all this?" He frowned, meeting both Kai and Harumi's eyes.
"It's Gene's stuff, we're going to hide it and see how he likes it," Kai replied, seeing no point in lying to his boyfriend. The brunette instantly regretted his honesty when Cole crossed his arms and hit him with a disappointed frown. "What? I'm only playing the same trick on him he played on me!"
"You're on his case, too?" Cole shot at Harumi.
"Look, we're just going to hide it, and then we'll give it all back at the end of the day." She replied and when she put it look like, Cole couldn't help but pause in thought. Seeing that she had him, Harumi continued. "We're just making sure he doesn't do it again, we promise to give it all back." She said and Cole reluctantly sighed. Cole didn't agree with an eye for an eye but if all they were doing was hiding Gene's stuff, he didn't see how it could go wrong.
Plus, if Kai got this revenge, Cole hoped he would back off Gene a little bit.
"Make sure you do, and I didn't see you, OK?" He warned they barely gave him a nod in agreement as they took off down the hall. The noirette werewolf could only sigh heavily, hoping that this wouldn't come back to bite him...
