clayfun2: Thank you for your comment, I'm glad you liked the last chapter and I hope you like this one.
Iron Baron cackled loudly as Seven all but ran out of the tavern. He loved messing with that brat. She was so pathetic and far too easy to trick. If she hadn't had been so naive, she wouldn't even be in this situation. He didn't feel sorry for her in the slightest. It was her fault her and her brother had to move here, and she took that job he offered without reading the fine print of the contract. He couldn't wait for this job to be finished so he could finally get rid of that little pest.
Hopefully in the next few days those filthy werewolves would be exterminated like the vermin they are.
But Iron Baron wasn't a fool. He had been a hunter his whole life, so he knew you always had to think five steps ahead of your prey, and to take notice of any weak points. He knew Seven was a weak-willed girl with no desire to kill, even if it was a disgusting monster, she was aiming the gun at. While he hoped she would follow through with his orders, this was too big a risk to leave to a teenager. It was a dark moon, and, thanks to his employer, the pack was separated for the weekend.
They couldn't let this opportunity pass them by.
Who knew when they would get another chance to kill those freaks. Once he was certain Seven had driven away, he pulled out his phone and called Finch and his family to give her a little assistance. They owned him a few favors and this should help pay off their debt to him. After he sent that message, however, he noticed that his had received a notification from his boss. Apparently, they had intercepted a message between the pack and two of them were going to be alone, in a remote area, away from the rest of the werewolves.
The baron was almost rubbing his hands with glee.
This was better than killing two birds with one stone. Not only would they be getting rid of most of the females of the pack but now he could dispose of two more. The death of a single wolf would cause the rest of the pack to fall apart. He had seen it happen. At least depending on which wolf was killed, the size of the pack, and a few other factors. While he didn't think the omega's death would bother those beasts that much, the loss of a beta would be a hard blow.
Especially towards the alpha, having lost their second in command.
The loss of their females would also be a devastating blow to the pack that they would never be able to recover from. Unfortunately, his boss had called Iron Baron in for an emergency meeting, so he himself wouldn't be able to make the kill himself. It was a shame, he loved doing his own work. But at the same time the beta and omega in question seemed rather pathetic and not worth his time. With a sick smirk, Iron Baron dialed the number for the perfect person to do the deed.
This was going to be a very fun night...
Cole, Jay, Kai, Lloyd, Morro, and Zane watched as the girls, plus Edna, all climbed aboard the train and departed for the engineering symposium for the weekend. Zane was a little concerned about the state of the train, and the fact that he had failed to find anything concrete about the organization hosting this event. But his friends always said he worried too much about all kinds of little things. Kai also pointed out that it was possibly a brand-new organization.
They probably hadn't had a chance to gain much acknowledgment yet and the event was their way to get more attention.
Even though Zane didn't think that was the case he was trying not to stress out, especially so close to the dark moon so he tried to ignore it. After the screeching train was out of sight and hearing, everyone began making their way home. Everyone but Jay and Zane that is, who were both heading to the latter's house. Zane was not exactly into the party scene, but he liked having his friends around. Especially since he was going to be home alone this weekend.
Julien was going to be flying out to attend a medical conference in New York City for the weekend.
Most parents wouldn't think of leaving their children home alone for an entire weekend but Zane a quiet and responsible boy. All that to say, his father never worried about leaving Zane home alone, which was exactly why they felt comfortable leaving him alone on this particular night. It wasn't like they were going to be partying all night or anything like that. They were just going to be watching movies and playing videogames. As much as Zane wanted all of his friends to be there, they all had made other plans.
Because this was one of the rare times, he had the apartment to himself Kai was planning on taking this opportunity.
He and Cole were having a date night together and Cole made Jay promise that if his dad asked then he was with him and Zane. Lloyd's uncle needed help at the tea shop since it had been busy the last few days and Misako was too busy with her own work to help. Morro's foster parents were trying to help their fosters grow closer and feel more comfortable with them. So, they had come up with the idea of a family weekend every last weekend of the month.
This included doing things like playing card games, visiting the beach, going on a picnic, going geocaching, going to the library, baking cakes, and cooking together.
The lone wolf wasn't really looking forward to it but try as he might there was no way out of it and he didn't want to upset the Dobsons. As much as Zane had wanted to whole pack there, a part of him was relieved that it was just going to be him and Jay. While he believed his friends would be respectful in his house, he had seen firsthand the kind of damage Kai, Jay, and Lloyd could do when hopped up on tons of sugar. But Zane wasn't too worried.
What harm could Jay do on his own?
"Who's ready for some fun?!" Jay cried in excitement as he and Zane got into the pale boy's car.
"Of course." Zane smiled, mentally hoping that he wasn't making a mistake and tonight went smoothly...
"Now remember, keep the party to a minimum and all emergency numbers are on a sticky note on the fridge." Julien instructed the teens as he finished packing for his trip. The taxi was already outside waiting to take him to the airport. The doctor knew he shouldn't be too worried, but he couldn't help it. The dark moon was practically here, making them all but powerless, and most of the pack was out of town. Julien was worried that if something happened, help wouldn't arrived in time to save his son.
That thought terrified him and made his aging heart ache.
"Do not worry father; Jay and I are well prepared." Zane smiled as he led the old man out the door.
"Yeah, we'll be fine; you enjoy your conference and let us know if New York really is a city that never sleeps." Jay added and the other two rolled their eyes. Zane's father left for the airport around 4:30 PM. As soon as he got out of the driveway, the boys started blasting music through the speakers in the living room. Zane took a shower and put on some shorts and his favorite Frosty the Snowman hoodie. When he got downstairs, he found Jay already waiting on the couch wearing his favorite Starfarer pajamas.
They played basically every video game Zane had from Lava Zombies all the way to Prime Empire with popcorn and other junk food spilled out all over the floor.
As the night progressed, they moved from video games to watching movies. They had just finished their second movie and Zane was about to put on another when they heard a knock at the front door. Both teens froze when this happened. Zane didn't have any close neighbors and the couple he had wouldn't have been bothered by the loud music. At least they thought it wouldn't be an issue.
"You expecting anyone?" Jay asked, checking his phone to see if any of their friends had changed their minds and decided to come over but there was nothing.
"No." Zane replied as he turned down the music and went to open the door. On the other side of the screen was a tall, lanky man with pale skin and streaky brown hair. He had acne and look to be only a couple years older than them. He was holding pizza and wings from the pizza place up the road.
"I have an order for Robert Julien." He said in a low, harsh voice. Zane's stomach tensed a bit. That was his father's name, but he wasn't home, and he doesn't like pizza so why would he order this? Maybe he realized there was nothing in the fridge and ordered them dinner so Zane wouldn't have to cook. Either way, Zane said nothing and signed for the pizza. The pizza man handed over the goods and walked back down to his car at the end of the driveway.
Zane turned to go inside, but then he stopped.
He didn't know how, but he could feel the man looking at him. He looked over his shoulder and sure enough, he was just standing next to his car door, staring at the teen, expressionless. Zane quickly turned around, closed the door, and locked it behind him.
"Are you OK?" Jay asked when he saw the disturbed look on his friend's face.
"Someone just dropped off a pizza; did you order it?" Zane asked as he took a sniff of the pizza. He didn't his powers, but his father taught him various smells that would indicate poisonous or toxic substances. Luckly there was no sign of any poisons, so he set it down.
"Nope, but you never turn down free food." Jay shrugged as he grabbed a slice and started stuffing his face. Zane rolled his eyes but said nothing as he joined his friend on the couch and ate the pizza and finished watching the movie. They had just finished the pizza when Zane's phone started buzzing in is pocket. It was Morro who had just sent him some texts, asking who that man at the door. Zane was wondering how Morro could have known but the lone wolf's next text set him straight.
He had been driving by with his foster family after they had been to the movies, and he saw the creepy pizza guys.
When Morro said that the car had no logo for a pizza place Zane got more scared, but he shrugged it off as paranoia. It was dark and they were driving fast, Morro could have easily missed a sticker on the side of a parked car. He dismissed his and Morro's concerns and focused his attention but on the TV. A few hours later the grandfather clock suddenly chimed, and the pair jumped at the sudden noise. Zane's eyes widened when he saw how late it had gotten.
"It's getting late, should we get to bed?" He suggested as he stood up and stretched his stiff limbs. It wasn't some ungodly hour of the morning, but Zane liked to keep a consistence eight-hour sleep schedule.
"Yeah, okay, I just wish Nya would text me back." Jay whined as he stared sadly at his phone.
"I'm sure they are alright; she's probably getting some sleep in a cozy hotel room while Pixal and Harumi try and kill each other." Zane joked lightly, trying not to show his worry for his own girlfriend.
"Probably; I wish Pixal would just leave Harumi alone, you know? Forgive and forget as they say." Jay sighed.
"Well, there is a lot to forgive Harumi for; or have you forgotten how she made Pixal's life a living hell for years." Zane glared. He might not agree with how Pixal always treated Harumi he could understand her hostility and would always defend the girl he loved. Jay just shrugged and returned his attention to his phone. "I'm getting a drink and then going to bed." The pale teen sighed and headed towards the kitchen. Zane poured himself a glass of ice-cold water and allowed his mind to wander.
Even though he wouldn't say it, like Jay, Zane hoped the grief between Pixal and Harumi would die down and they could all move on.
Harumi had made many mistakes in her life, but he could see she was trying to change. If you had asked Zane two years ago what he would have thought Harumi would have done if she found out the secret, he would have said that she would try and exploit it for as much as she could. He would never have guess that she would risk everything to save his friends and keep the secret. He had no idea if she had always been like this or if Morro had been some kind of good influence on her, but he was glad she was trying to be a good person.
However, while he could see Harumi was trying to change for the better, Pixal was his girlfriend and he had to stand by her, no matter what.
A sudden urge to scratch in his nose snapped Zane back to the real world. He was standing in the kitchen, next to a big sliding glass door that provided a convenient view from the back garden and the forest beyond the wall. The sun had set, and the darkness started to press in on the glass. Zane's stomach turned and once again, he had the weird sense that he was being watched. He had always had a fear of something watching him through the windows.
He had protested against his father getting big glass doors like this that gave a person a command center view of a house.
Especially if he thought there was someone creeping around. To his credit he did put cameras up all around the outside of their house. They lived pretty far out of Ninjago City, so first responders take a while to get here. Zane soon finished his drink and headed back towards the living room. Jay was already passed out on the couch, snoring lightly. They had already decided to sleep in the living room, so Zane said nothing and curled up on the other end of couch.
Try as he might, however, Zane just couldn't sleep.
He had never suffered from insomnia, but the events of the last few hours wouldn't leave him alone. To distract himself from his worries and Jay's snoring, Zane focused on the scary movie they had forgotten to turn off. It might have been counterintuitive, but he didn't care right now. About an hour into the film, the pale teen suddenly heard a shuffling noise on the patio, and his eyes immediately darted towards the sliding glass door. He wanted to get out of view from it, but somehow the idea of taking his eyes off of it seemed even scarier.
He held still for a bit to listen for more movement.
When nothing happened, Zane tried to focus on the movie again. About ten minutes later, he heard it again except this time, he thought heard footsteps too. Careful not to wake up Jay, he got up slowly. Reluctantly he walked over to the big glass door and flipped the light switch to the patio, flooding the garden with light but saw nothing. Once he was satisfied that there was nothing out there, but as he flipped the light off again, the darkness felt like it was pressing even closer.
He walked back to the living room, feeling exposed as he turned his back to the glass door.
About five minutes later, his phone received a Chirp from someone named Hunter. Zane rolled his eyes and assumed it was one of his friends being an idiot. But when he opened it, it was a picture of him. A real-time picture of him standing in front of the big glass door in the kitchen, looking out into the garden. It had to be Kai pulling a prank on them. Zane nearly boiled over in anger. Kai knew he got scared easily, so creeping around outside to spook them was downright mean.
Zane called him immediately, but he didn't pick up.
He was probably ignoring him, so Zane texted Cole instead.
"Your boyfriend is being a jerk. Either you take him home or come inside." He sent to the noirette teen with an angry face emoji and gripped his phone tightly, waiting for some response back. He waited for a couple minutes, and the phone finally buzzed. It was Kai, not the unknown user, and he had just sent him a message. Zane opened it and it was a picture of him and Cole snuggled up in bed at Kai's apartment getting out of the shower.
Zane's stomach dropped and he called Kai in a panic.
"Someone sent me a picture of me looking out the patio door." He told him, now fully panicking. "It was only taken like 10 minutes ago so if it wasn't you, who was it?" He asked and Kai laughed at him. Zane could hear Cole's voice echoing in the background.
"Zane it's probably just some sad loser pulling a prank; could be just Chad who saw you." He said Zane hummed in thought. Chad's family lived in the house closest to his and Zane could see the lights from Chad's house far in the distance. But even though Chad was a jerk, this felt a bit odd for him to do and a far distance to travel just for a prank. Still, that felt like the only reasonable explanation. Zane talked to Cole and Kai for a bit longer to settle his nerves and calmed down.
After he was done, he went back to the couch and was able to watch the remainder of the movie without interruption.
He started to relax and just as I felt my eyes starting to close, his phone buzzed again. It was another photo from Hunter. This time, the photo was taken from the patio itself, looking in through the big glass door. Zane could see himself and Jay distantly sitting, looking at the TV in the living room. He felt a prickling up the base of his spine and all his hair stood on end. He hoped that Kai and Cole were right and that this was some kind of sick joke.
Pulling a trick from Kai and Morro's play book, Zane sent back a photo of himself, holding up his middle finger with a caption telling Chad to go to Hell.
As soon as he sent it, Zane realized something that made his blood curdle. Chad was out of town for the weekend. He had been bragging about it all week about how his parents had paid for an all-expense paid vacation to the Caribbean while they were all stuck here. It was only thanks to the girls getting to go and a free trip that he shut up. Before Zane could completely comprehend what was happening, another photo came through. This time it was just a photo of a knife with the caption saying no cops.
Zane froze in place when he read this.
He felt his face flush with panic. Someone was coming after them. He felt like he was in a horror film. Without losing another moment, Zane ran to the kitchen and closed the curtains and sprinted around the bottom floor, checking every single lock he could get to. His phone buzzed again. It was a closeup of his face through the kitchen window. Zane screamed and dropped his phone. The sound woke Jay up with a start.
"Uh, what's going on?" He asked, fighting not to yawn, but Zane couldn't answer. His heart was racing, and he was covered in sweat and uncontrollably shaking.
"W-We have to g-get out of h-here now." Zane stammered weakly as he grabbed a large knife from the knife block next to the stove and picked up his phone. He showed Jay the pictures and messages. Jay started screaming loudly, as if hoping a neighbor would hear. Zane grabbed him by the arm and ran upstairs to the bathroom, locking them both inside. Jay sat down in the dark and started to sob uncontrollably. Zane wanted to tell him to be quiet, but he himself was struggling to catch his breath without making any noise.
He texted the friend group chat what was happening and sent the pictures.
The guys were all panicking in the chat and Cole called him.
"Cole help us, I'm scared." He whispered, trying to stay as quiet as he could.
"Stay where you are, I'm getting help." He ordered, breathing heavily. Zane could hear Kai muttering a string of curses in the background as the couple rushed around to get dressed. During the call, Zane received another photo. He accepted it with tears streaming down his face. It was a silhouette of a person, clothed in black, holding a brick in an outstretched hand. They were standing on the patio. Jay saw it and shrieked, and Zane dropped his phone.
Cole was still trying to ask what had happened, growing more scared when he got no answer.
Whoever was out there, they were coming for him and Jay. Both boys paled in horror when they heard an explosive shattering of glass. They had run out of time. Whoever this was, they were now inside the house. Zane head started spinning as Jay started to feel reality sinking in. They were going to die here. Zane felt like crying. He had never got to live the life he wanted. He never got to get married and have kids. Jay wasn't doing any better.
He was reflecting on his whole life, so sure he was going to die.
He would never see his parents or Nya again. She was sleeping soundly in a nice hotel room, unaware that one of her friends and boyfriend was about to get murdered. Zane silenced his phone, trying to stay as quiet as possible by slowing his breathing. The final photo appeared and there he was, the pizza man standing in the dining room, holding a knife in his hand, smiling and showing off his rotten teeth. Zane's face went numb. He heard the wood creak from his steps downstairs.
Frantically, Jay jumped up and opened the blinds of the bathroom window, hoping to see someone on the street.
He cursed when he saw nobody there. Why did Zane have to live so far out in the woods? He thought about trying to climb through the window, but there would be nothing to break his fall. His racing mind was snapped back to reality by the sound of wood creaking loudly as the pizza man climbed up the stairs. Zane picked up the knife he had and aimed it towards the door. Each step sent chills through them as Zane tried to brace himself, trying not to collapse.
Jay was both numb and raw.
Adrenaline was masking everything but his heavy, plodding footsteps. They heard him reach the landing at the top of the stairs. Jay felt myself backing away from the door as far as he could, pressing into the tub and then it was silent. They couldn't hear his movement, or any movement. Zane wished he had his powers, then maybe he could have heard the guy coming before this ever happened. Suddenly the doorknob started to slowly turn.
It halted against the lock. Zane waited. Jay waited.
The man waited. A long moment of silence passed and nobody moved. Zane's heart pounded in his ears.
"GO AWAY! LEAVE US ALONE!" Jay screamed and the man started to laugh, low and rough. With no alternative, Zane went for the window, trying to break it with the knife he held. Instead, he accidentally sliced his arm. He gasped in pain. Jay tried one more time to reach Nya, to say goodbye if nothing else. The phone rang for a few seconds until finally, to Jay's joy, Nya's voice came through the phone.
"Jay! Th- is a r- b- time!" Her voice said, but it was quiet and full of static. Jay didn't focus on that however.
"NYA! HELP! SOME FREAKING CHASED US UP TO THE BATHROOM AND IS TRYING TO GET IN! HE'S PROBABLY A JUNKIE! CALL THE COPS!" Jay wailed for her, but the call suddenly dropped. He felt tears pour from his eyes when the happened and his phone went dark as the battery died. He looked over and saw the knob turning again and the door straining against its frame as the man pushed against it, trying to get in. Acting purely on instinct, he grabbed the knife before he dropped to the floor and peered under the door.
The man's foot was bracing him as he pressed into the door, cursing at the knob.
Jay suddenly stabbed with all his strength into the side of his boot. They heard him shriek in surprise and stumble back from the door. The teens seized their chance. Jay jumped up, unlock the door, and ran as fast as he could with Zane right behind him. The man swung at them, his knife slicing into Jay's hand that protected his head as he sprinted. Jay cried out as he felt could feel the pain spreading up his arm but didn't back up. They leapt down the stairs, ran barefoot through the broken glass, out into the garden.
He threw open the gate and ran out to the main road.
When they got there, two cops pulled up with Cole and Kai.
"HELP US!" Jay screamed as they collapsed to their knees. Cole and Kai quickly scooped their friends up and the two cops ran around the back. The couple put them in Cole's car and as they waited for an ambulance Kai and Cole wrapped cloth around the pair's injuries.
"Where is that bastard?!" Kai roared and almost charged towards the house.
"Don't be stupid babe, the police can handle it!" Cole growled as he held his lover back. True to his word, a few minutes later the two cops emerged with the handcuffed pizza guy, his right leg limping and bleeding. He stared at the teens as they brought him to the squad car and put him in. Zane felt his cold eyes more than he could feel his own pain. The ambulance arrived and they started treating the pair's cuts and finally Zane felt himself fully let go and sob.
Ed Walker arrived a few minutes later and no one had ever seen Jay's dad cry so much.
"W-We called your father Z-Z-Zane; he'll be on t-the next f-flight home." Ed promised as he hugged both boys close and let them cry into his shoulders. Kai and Cole had tears in their eyes as well as they comforted each other. They watched the cops drive the pizza guy away and all the while, he never broke his gaze at the teens...
After the police were finished with the crime scene and taking their statements, everyone, including Kai and Cole, went to stay at the junkyard for the night. By the next morning, the girls had returned with a crazy story for their train ride. What they hadn't expected was the boys to have a shocking story of their own. As soon as the pack were reunited, they each hugged each other tightly. They all sat in shock as they told each other everything that had happened over their respective weekends.
Both Jay and Zane's parents blamed themselves, but their kids never did.
No one could have seen this coming. Jay made sure to tell his mother that as she squeezed the life out of him. They were all just happy everyone was safe. As for the pizza man, according to the police, he was a child predator who used his job to find victims at home alone. They grabbed him going through Zane's closet upstairs after they had run out. He had been out of prison for only a year and he was going straight back to his old cell.
Apparently, it was going to be for a long time.
Dr. Julien made sure to throw out anything of his son's that man touched. Zane didn't have any protest. The two of them were staying in a hotel until the house was repaired and secure. No one felt safe there until every trace of that man was gone. To help release the tension and fear, Ed and Edna decided to arrange a little barbeque at their junkyard. Everyone in the pack attended, because they all needed this. They were serving steak, sausages, slow-cooked ribs, burgers, seafood, pulled pork, and chicken.
Everything a growing werewolf loved to snack on, especially after a traumatic experience like this weekend.
As everyone was enjoy the food and hanging out with each other, Morro noticed Lloyd, standing off to the side, looking like he was in a world of his own. After swallowing another plate of meat, the lone wolf went to check on his friend.
"What's up?" He asked, taking a seat next to the blond.
"Just thinking." He replied, staring off into the distance and nothing in particular.
"About what?"
"Don't you think it's weird?" He asked, finally looking at Morro. "First the girls get an invite to a fake event, only to get stranded in the middle of nowhere and then hunted by some psycho hillbillies; all the while Jay and Zane are suddenly targeted by some creepy pervert on the same night?"
"I'm mean it is a big coincidence." Morro admitted. "But I'm sure that's all it is; and if it isn't then let's leave it to the police to deal with." He dismissed before rejoining the party and get some more food. Lloyd sighed and returned to staring at his own plate. The food did look delicious, but he just could find it within himself to eat. It was all too convenient for all this to happen. He was almost certain that these incidents were connected, but maybe his friends were right.
Maybe the universe decided that it wanted to mess with their pack, and he should just be happy they all made it back in one piece.
With a tired sigh, Lloyd got up and went to join the rest of his friends. He hoped that after all that, nothing else could surprise them anymore...
Back at the Fuzzy Raspberry tavern, everything seemed as normal as ever. Unless you counted the string of curses and bangs coming from the back room. Thankfully for the occupant, in this part of town nobody paid attention to those kinds of noises. Even if they did, however, Iron Baron wouldn't have cared. He was downright murderous. He was so close of killing off the majority of the Ninjago werewolf pack. He was so close, yet he tripped at the finish line.
All thanks to Seven deciding to go noble and that idiot pervert he hired was more focused on satisfying his own desires than doing his job.
That idiot had gotten himself arrest and Iron Baron passed on that information on to his own employer. He doubted that idiot would survive to see a trail. That left Seven and Iron Baron was ready to make an example out of that girl. No one disobeyed him and got to walk away. He had given that pest a chance and she wasted it, and he wasn't going to let her waste anymore of his time. As the universe had answered his wishes, the door opened and a rightfully scared Seven stepped inside.
Before she even had chance to speak, Iron Baron suddenly grabbed her by the throat and launched into the wall.
She hit it with a loud thud and crumpled to the floor, but she was still awake. As she tried to stand back up, he kicked her back to the ground.
"You are a stupid, ungrateful bitch!" He bellowed as he continued to stomp her into the dirty floor. "Gave you every opportunity and yet you have the gall to stab me in the back?! Who the fuck do you think you are?!"
"I'm... sorry." She weakly croaked and he finally stopped his assault and stepped back. Slowly and carefully, Seven sat up and slumped her back against the wall. She was now covered in bruises, had a busted nose, a black eye, and her head and lip were bloody. "I c-compromised our objective and p-p-put us in harm's way, and its w-won't happen again; I promise." She stammered in pain, coughing a little bit.
"And why should a believe a whiny little bitch like you?" He snarled as he reached for his gun, ready to finish the job.
"Because I have now seen what kind of monsters these people are; I saw Nya turn into one of those things and attack those people." Seven admitted as she and Iron Barn stared into each other's eyes, search for any weakness. "These people maybe my friends, but they're monsters and even if they can't control their inner beasts, I need to put the needs of the many ahead of the few." She finished and took a deep breath, preparing for whatever he had in store for her.
The hunter stared at her for a few minutes as she sat there bleeding.
Eventually his face twisted in a cruel grin.
"Apology accepted." He smiled as he put his gun away. Seven visibly relaxed and she thought she could leave until he suddenly grabbed her by the throat and lifted her up to his level. "But, if you ever pull a stunt like this again, I will fucking destroy you and your brother; I hope that clears everything up." He spoke in a low voice before letting go of her as Seven looked more fearful than ever, which he relished in. She nodded and he dropped her.
Seven stumbled backwards and she just barely managed to catch herself on the table to stop herself from falling over.
Quickly, she stumbled out of the back room and out of the tavern and Iron Baron did nothing to stop her. He just watched her go with a large sick smile on his face. Those creatures may have won this battle, but they were nowhere close to winning the war...
