Chapter 16: Wants & Needs

I was dreading going back to work today. I felt like I had made such a fool of myself, in front of them. What right did I have to be jealous? I was having trouble sleeping last night. I just gave up and ended up leaving my apartment an hour early. There was no traffic. I'd gotten to work too early. I was sitting there, wasting time in the company parking lot. I gripped my steering wheel and groaned.

"C'mon Kagome. Just suck it up and get out already." I said to myself.

I checked my watch. I was about to be late and I could not do that because that would be playing with my money and that would be stupid. I grabbed my bag and got out of the car. I walked up to the building and made my way upstairs. I was the only one upstairs thankfully. I saw a new batch of manuscripts on my desk. I went over to my desk and sat down. Leaning back in my chair I kicked my shoes off. I needed just a second. I pulled my knees to my chest, closed my eyes, and massaged my feet. I hated wearing these expensive shoes. Despite how good they looked, they made my feet hurt like hell. I would give anything to wear my ratty sneakers again. I heard someone clear their throat. I jumped, opening my eyes.

"Mr. Taisho!"

I quickly slipped my shoes on and sat up straight.

"Sorry," I mumbled.

"Hn," he said sitting down.

Good going Kagome.

I picked up the first manuscript on the pile and started working on it. The elevator dinged and I looked up. It was the same woman from yesterday. I wasn't sure how, but I'm sure she looked more beautiful than yesterday. I looked down, focusing on my work. Or at least I was trying to. I found myself trying to eavesdrop on whatever she was whispering to him. I could see them from the corner of my eye. She was hugging his arm. Whatever, it's fine. I didn't even care… I had no right to. Eventually, she left.

"Ms. Higurashi."

I looked up. "Yes, Mr. Taisho."

"What is bothering you?"

I looked at him confused.

"What do you mean? I'm fine."

"I can smell it on you." he pushed.

Crap, I hadn't covered up my scent this time. It was careless of me.

"Do not lie," he said. "You-"

"Are not good at it." I finished for him. "So I have heard."

Dammit, I was just about to lie.

"I'm just not feeling well, that's all." I lied.

I had lied anyway. Technically. So there was some truth to what I was saying

"You seemed fine before Himari walked into the room," he questioned.

First name basis with her I see.

"It happened yesterday as well. Why is that?"

I was about to snap, but that's when I realized it. That look in his eyes. He was dying to know why I was so upset. Was it amusing to him? Was he doing this on purpose? I relaxed in my seat trying to keep my cool.

"Maybe I was a little annoyed. Only because she was a bit loud and distracting while I was trying to read, that's the only reason."

Another lie. I'm sure he saw through it.

"Hn. I see."

I wasn't going to fall for whatever little game he was playing. I heard the elevator ding. I groaned internally. I looked up expecting to see Himari again, but it was the last person I expected to see.

"Inuyasha," I said quietly.

"Kagome?"

We were both equally surprised it seemed. He slowly walked over to my desk.

"Hey," he said.

"Hello," I replied.

"Why are you here Inuyasha?" Sesshomaru interjected.

He went over to him. "I came to drop this off. Dad couldn't do it. So here I am.." he said, dropping the envelope on Sesshomaru's desk.

"Now you can leave."

"I wasn't finished talking to Kagome."

"She is finished speaking with you. She is working."

Inuyasha glared at Sesshomaru.

"I'll come back at the end of the day. Okay?" he said softly.

I gave a small nod, and he left. I could feel Sesshomaru's eyes on me.

"Is there something wrong Mr. Taisho?"

"No."

Now who was the liar?

I had finished reading through the majority of the transcripts. None of them were worth much. Their stories were alright, but no one wanted to read that kind of story. Readers want something thrilling that would hold their interest. I stood up and stretched. Sesshomaru had been gone for a few hours now. Probably meetings and whatnot. I stood up walking over to the window. He hadn't said much to me after Inuyasha had left. I guess this is what we are now. Things seemed so different just a few months ago. I heard the door open, I turned around and saw Sesshomaru walking in.

"You may go home today. The day is over."

I looked at the clock. I still had three hours left.

"Is something wrong?" I asked.

"The day is over Ms. Higurashi," he repeated.

"Okay."

He was being so dismissive. I went over to my desk and grabbed my bag. I made my way out of the building. To find that my car was nowhere to be seen. I stood there trying my best not to freak out.

"Is there something wrong?"

I nearly jumped out of my skin.

"My car is missing."

"There was a car towed earlier; according to what others saw. It made strange noises, and it began smoking. It needed to be removed. I was not aware that it was your car."

Noises? Smoking? What the hell, I had just bought that car!

I sighed, running my fingers through my hair.

"You've got to be kidding me," I mumbled.

"Would you like a ride?" he offered.

I was surprised that he had asked me that. I hesitated before answering.

"Uh, sure I guess."

I followed him to his car and got in. I buckled up. I felt awkward sitting here. I told him my address and he drove off. For the entire drive, we were both silent. We'd reached my house in no time. He got out and opened my door for me.

"Thank you."

I started walking, and I realized that he was walking with me. I looked up at him.

"Is something wrong?"

"I am walking you to your door."

"Oh."

I walked up to my apartment, opened the door, and went inside. I turned around to tell him goodbye, but before I knew it. He was inside, closing the door behind him. His arm wrapped around my waist, pulling me close to him.

"What are you doing?" I whispered.

"Do you still love him?"

"What? What are you talking about?"

"Do you still love Inuyasha?"

I opened my mouth to speak, but then I closed it, clenching my jaw.

"Why would that matter to you? You have Himari ." I bit out.

"I do not have Himari. She is not you."

I froze.

"Or do you have that boy? The one you left me for?"

"I did not leave you!"

"Do not avoid the question. Answer me."

"I do not want Kouga and I do not want your brother. I haven't seen him in almost a year! So, yes. I was surprised to see him, and I wanted to hear what he had to say. Why does it matter to you anyway? You quit your job! You stopped answering my call-"

He shut me up by kissing me. I wanted to push him away and yell at him more, but I didn't; I couldn't. I missed him. I missed touching him and kissing him. I held onto him, pressing up against him. He broke the kiss, pulling away.

"You were busy with that boy."

"I do not want him. I haven't spoken to him. Since that day you stopped answering me."

He grabbed me by the thighs picking me up; hiking up my skirt around my waist.

"Where is your room?"

I pointed to the door down the hall. I was too shocked to ask him, why he grabbed me the way he did. It clicked in a few seconds why he did what he did. He quickly made his way to my bedroom. He laid me down on my bed. He unzipped my skirt and slipped it off of me. Unbuttoning my blouse, he slid it off my shoulders, dropping it. He grabbed my hips, kissing around my navel. He slid his hand under my back, unhooking my bra. I could feel his eyes roaming my body. My heart was pounding in my chest. I was so nervous. He made eye contact with me, and I was so embarrassed I shut my eyes. His hands left my body and I felt my blanket draped over me. I opened my eyes. I was confused as to why he'd stopped touching me. He pulled me onto my bed, making me lie down with him.

"You're not ready." He said, looking away.

Oh no. We are not doing this again.

I grabbed his face, forcing him to look at me.

"I am ready, Sesshomaru. I want you, and I want you now."
