Chapter 18: Interim

We did wait, Inuyasha out. It had taken him three hours to leave. However, the banging stopped about an hour in. I guess he had just outside my front door, for the rest of the time. I felt bad about my neighbors having to sit through all that. Still, part of me wondered how Inuyasha even found out where I lived. I was surprised I let that happen. I knew he was there and I let Sesshomaru do that. I let Sesshomaru fuck me to the point, where I did not care who could hear. I felt a little bad, but I didn't hate it. Secretly, I enjoyed that he could hear how Sesshomaru made me feel. I mean, it wasn't to get back at him. We kept at it even after Inuyasha had left.

"Are you alright?" he asked.

I snapped out of it.

"I'm alright. I was just thinking. Plus I'm a bit tired."

He kissed the top of my head.

"If you are tired, then sleep," he said softly.

"I've tried. Someone keeps waking me up." I teased.

He pulled me closer.

"That someone sounds dastardly."

I could hear the smirk in his voice.

"Kagome, there is something I need to ask you."

I looked up at him. He sounded serious.

"What is it?"

"What we have just done. Was it a fleeting moment for you?"

"Fleeting? No, Sesshomaru I have feelings for you. I've spent months calling you-"

He put his finger to my lips. He was smiling.

"I simply wanted to know where you stand."

I wondered where we could take this. Hell, I'd given him my virginity. Giving him my heart too… maybe wouldn't be so bad.

I could tell by the way he was looking at me, and by what was pressing up against my leg. That he was not finished with me yet. He kissed my shoulder and then my neck.

I smiled. "I thought you said I could sleep."

He chuckled.

"It seems I have lied."

I woke up wrapped up in his arms. I liked being here. He was warm and comfortable, and he smelled so good. It felt like I belonged here; hidden away from the rest of the world. He wanted me even after all this time. Even after I'd acted like a jerk. I looked up and he was already looking down at me.

"It's not nice to stare," I said.

"Perhaps you should take your advice." he teased.

"I'm sorry."

He seemed confused. "What for?"

"For hanging out with that guy."

"We were not in a relationship. You did not owe me any loyalty," he explained.

Then why'd you ignore me for so long, and why do I feel like I owed it to you?

"You were upset by it; You were hurt, because of me. I never meant to do that to you. It was selfish of me. I didn't consider your feelings. I was being a hypocrite... I was being Inuyasha."

"It is natural for a demon not to want to see his intended with anyone else. It seemed as though you needed to figure things out for yourself."

" Yes. Months of being ignored will help you speed up that process." I joked.

He snuggled into the crook of my neck. "Do not expect me to go through that again. It took great restraint on my part to stay away from you. It will not happen again." he licked my neck. "Next time, I will come get you ."

I didn't plan on going anywhere.

The doorbell rang.

"Who the hell-"

"Kagome! Are you going to let your best friend in!? Or do I have to break in!?"

I rolled my eyes. "Oh God, it's Sango. I forgot she was coming over today. I'm sorry."

He gave me a quick kiss.

" It is alright. I plan to see much more of you," he said with a smile.

"Hello!" she called again.

"Hold on, I'm coming!"

I put on a nightgown and he got dressed quickly. We walked over to the door. I opened it. She was about ready to rip me a new one until she saw him standing there.

"Well, it took you long- Oh… hello Sesshomaru."

"Sango."

He turned to me and kissed me one last time. It was longer and deeper. I could hear Sango squeal off to the side. He pulled away and I already wanted him back.

"I will see you later, and I will have your car returned," he said walking away.

"My car? That sneaky son of a…" I said smiling.

I turned back to Sango. She just stood there with a stupid grin on her face.

"Oh my God, just come in already."

She came inside. I closed the door behind her.

"I love your new digs. I see you were busy christening the place," she said winking.

"Sango grow up."

She laughed. "I mean hey I'm glad you finally got yours. It was about time, and I just know it was heavenly."

I smiled. "I mean of course it was. Look at him. He did this one move where he was holding me by my ankles. Supporting me so I wouldn't move, or run away when he was… well you know.."

She fanned herself. "Mmm, I bet you can't even get that kind of support from a jockstrap. How did you two even connect again?"

"It turns out he owns the publishing company, that I did an interview for. Before I moved to the city. Neither of us knew we were going to see each other. Turns out were were both jealous; of absolutely nothing at that. He ended up driving me home, and then-"

"Then he came over here and screwed your brains out." she finished for me.

"Well, if you want to put it that way. Then yes that is what happened. Inuyasha showed up while he was here too. I don't even know how he got my address."

"That little shit. Did he interrupt you two?"

I fidgeted with my fingers.

"Well, he tried but we didn't exactly stop. We just left him there and kept at it. I feel kind of bad… but not really. You know?"

She grinned.

"Kagome, I don't even know who you are anymore; but I love the new you. Whatever Sesshomaru is doing to you. I hope he doesn't stop."

I smiled. "I hope he doesn't stop either."

"Now imagine how much sooner this all could have happened if you had just listened to me, and ignored that stupid wolf boy!"

"I know, I know. I was an idiot. I apologized to him for it."

"Yes, yes you were but now you've seen the error of your ways. I mean I told you. That there are people are waiting to meet you. People that will gladly accept you and reciprocate your love. You could run into something beautiful and passionate. You just need to try. All you have to do is go out and look for it. It's out there… and it's waiting for you, but it looks like you took too long and it came and found you instead. It just so happens that person is Sesshomaru."

Sango loved to be unserious, but she had her moments when she said some beautiful things.

"You don't think this is going too fast right? I mean, with how quickly I shut Inuyasha out and everything."

She shrugged. "When you lose an emotional attachment to someone, you realize how ordinary they are. It is your love and your energy that makes people seem so special. Nothing is too fast if it feels right. Especially when both of you feel it. I mean he practically all but said I want to spend the rest of my life with you." she laughed. "If anyone is going fast it's him, but you seem happy to go along for the ride."

I smiled. "Thank you. Maybe you're good for something other than embarrassing me." I teased.

She laughed.

"You're welcome. I'll be here for the rest of your life. Come on. Let the girl's night commence, and change your sheets so I can lay down with you."

Spending time with Sango was much needed. I hadn't seen her in a while. So, it was good to catch up. Monday morning I was worried about having to take the transit to work. Fortunately, my car was sitting outside my apartment when I left. I can't believe he took my car, so he would have to drive me home. Sneaky; but I'm glad he did it. I turned into the lot and parked in my spot. I noticed two cars parked on either side of me. I wondered who they belonged to. The spots weren't assigned yet, and I usually got here earlier than anyone else. I grabbed my things and got out.

"Kagome!"

I stopped in my tracks. I would recognize that voice anywhere. I exhaled and turned around to face him.

"What are you doing here Inuyasha?"
