Chapter 09

TwinstarDragon: five answers

1) nice to know, but i was also referring to 'my immortal' by lindsay stirling

2) understandable. I was surprised, since you like to include ideas for me to incorporate into the stories

3) yes, he was. Sadly, most nobles are like that: far too full of themselves

4) she is. This bit took a bit to understand, but izumi laid her eggs with her [egg laying] skill not that long ago, so the eggs still need to incubate and hatch. Plus, izumi promised to have grandchildren. The showing part will be long after izumi's spider babies hatch

5) from what was shown in the anime, as well as the LN source material, nearly all the elves just follow the orders of potimas. They were acting more like shinobi, taking advantage of chaos and confusion to do what they needed, as it's also a good move, strategically speaking. I wouldn't go so far as to say that izuku/izumi is/was insane, just that they have/had a drive to help people or survive, even if he/she has to suffer ungodly amounts of damage to do so, as shown in mha canon, when izuku kept destroying his fingers against shoto in their match at the sports festival, or when he was doing what he could to keep kota safe from muscular at the training camp.

Thank you, and here's the next chapter

Previously

Before ariel could answer, izumi teleported.

Now

Before the start of the invasion

With sophia

Sophia was watching her father as her mother held her in a cradle carry. "Don't worry, sophia, everything will be alright," her mother said. "I can't believe that the ohts empire would just ATTACK us out of the blue, like this," her father stated, as he watched out the window.

Just then, her father had an expression of surprise in his face. "Merazophis, am i seeing this, right?" he asked. Merazophis looked where his master was, and was also surprised. "It would appear that you are, master," he said. "Then it looks like the divine spider is doing what it can, to get rid of the army to give the townspeople time to escape," john said in relief.

Just then, a tremor rocked the manor. "Seras, may i see sophia?" he asked as he held his arms out. Seras gently handed sophia over to her husband, who held her in his arms gently. "My baby girl, i do not know if your mother and i will survive this. You are the most precious thing we have, and you MUST live, even if it has to be without us," john said, crying a bit at the end.

Seras kissed her daughter on her forehead, and said "goodbye, my baby," sadly, with some tears coming out of her eyes. But, like her husband, she was doing all she could to not break down crying. John handed sophia to merazophis. "Take care of our daughter, merazophis. Protect her as long as you are able to," john gave one last order to merazophis.

Merazophis looked like he wanted to argue, but he didn't. Instead, he gently took sophia into his arms. "Yes, sir. I will do as you ask," he said with determination, but also a bit of sadness, as he KNEW what his lord and lady were preparing to do. "Good, now run. Run, and live," john said firmly. "Sir," merazophis said, bowing his head, before he turned and ran, the young mistress in his arms.

Seras went to her husband, they hugged each other, and let the tears fall. "Goodbye, sophia," they said in harmony. They heard a crash, felt a flash of pain, and their worlds turned dark, never to brighten, again.

After getting to the end of the hallway, merazophis heard a crash where his lord and lady were. Despite every instinct telling him to run back to them, he obeyed the final order his master gave him: take sophia and run. Run, and live.

Just then, when he got to the stairs, arrows pierced one of his legs, causing him to tumble down the stairs, but he protected sophia with his body. Just after he landed, he felt three arrows pierce his back, but he still did not drop sophia.

He painfully turned, and saw three elves charging at them. "Not like this. I have to protect her," he groaned in pain. Sophia looked at the front door where the guards were supposed to be, and saw that the guards were dead.

"No one is coming, we're going to die," sophia thought, as tears threatened to fall. She turned and saw the elves, weapons drawn, charging at them. "There's only one way out of this," she thought. She thought back a while, when she used [appraisal] on herself.

Name: sophia keren/momo yaoyorozu

Species: vampire progenitor

Deciding that there was no other choice, sophia bit the side of merazophis' neck. You have acquired the skill [kin control lvl 1]. Feeling somewhat stronger, merazophis gently put sophia down, his ears became slightly pointed and his skin paled.

He turned and growled at the elves, revealing that his eyes had changed to red and he got pointed fangs. He ripped the arrows out of his back, causing his injuries to heal, before he did a vampiric roar, and charged at the elves.

The elves shot at merazophis, but he didn't react to the arrows piercing his body, before he grabbed the head of one elf and slammed it into the floor, crushing the elf's head. However, since he was just turned, his movements were rather clumsy.

To make matters worse, another elf appeared at the top of the stairwell. This elf used wind magic to blast merazophis away. "A vampire, eh?" the elf asked, as he walked down the stairs. "Freshly turned, they have stats on the low end. But, they can become a problem with time," the elf said, before it stopped in a bit of light, revealing it to be potimas.

Potimas looked at sophia, who looked at him in fear. "So, he was turned by the infant, who i suspect is a reincarnation," potimas stated. "What should we do, sir?" one elf asked. "Just kill them," potimas said, not bothering to look at sophia. "Any vampires will prove far too troublesome, in the long run," he said.

"Understood, sir," the elf said, before the two elves moved to do as ordered, but they were blocked by none other than merazophis. "I won't… i won't let you… hurt the girl…" he managed to get out, despite the pain he was in.

Potimas looked at him in curiosity. "Why would you go to such lengths for that baby? That infant is a vampire, a plague on humanity," potimas said, while also clarifying what sophia's species was. "What she is, is irrelevant. My master told me to protect her, and i plan on obeying that order until the end," merazophis said.

"That's some good resolve, but utterly useless," potimas said as he held a hand out towards the vampires, a purple magic sigil appearing in front of it. He was about to kill them, when…

A large green spider monster appeared between him and his targets. "Teleportation! And then…" izumi thought. Sophia looked at what was happening in shock. "Punch!" izumi finished the thought, just as she punched potimas into the far wall.

As she pulled her arm back to her side, sophia got a good look at the human face of the one that saved her and merazophis. "I-izuku?" she thought. Izumi looked at the other two elves, and her eyes glowed.

The results of her pointing her gaze at the other two elves were the other two elves bodies being twisted so severely, that they were killed, expressions of deep pain on their faces. Izumi looked behind her, and saw that merazophis was injured, likely from protecting the infant, so she approached merazophis and sophia.

Naturally, merazophis thought that, divine spider or not, she was going to hurt sophia. So, imagine his surprise when he felt the arrows still in his body being pulled out. When he looked at the divine spider, he saw that the arrows were in her hand, before she dropped them, and she began to heal him.

"Thank you," merazophis said, his voice showing that while he was still in pain, it was vanishing, as the spider healed him. "Sure thing," izumi said. Sophia was surprised to hear izumi speak. "Is that izuku? Why is he a GIRL, and a spider, of all things?" sophia thought to herself.

Just then, potimas spoke behind izumi, surprising her. "A bizarre creature is interfering in my affairs," he said as he stood up, and got out of the wall. "I punched him with everything i had, and he's not even FAZED?!" izumi thought, before she tried to use [appraisal] on him. "Weird, i can't appraise him. That can only mean one of three things. First, he has at least one ruler skill and is blocking [appraisal]. Second, he's inorganic, or three, both of the first two," izumi thought to herself.

"I've never seen ANYTHING quite like this monster. Are you one of ariel's offspring? Who and what are you, exactly?" he asked izumi. "Drop dead, you damn elf," izumi spat, before she prepped a teleportation circle.

"I think not, beast. Anti-magic barrier," he said. As soon as he said that, the area around the both of them turned bleary for an instant, before izumi's spell fell apart. "What the hell just happened?" she asked aloud. "Well, beast, i am potimas harrifenas. And i will admit that you pose a VERY real threat to me," he said, before he charged at izumi, fist cocked back and ready to punch.

When potimas punched, izumi was able to dodge, albeit barely. "Ok, he said 'anti-magic barrier', so that means that magic is off the table, and i can only assume that skills are in the same boat as magic. Therefore, it stands to reason that the only option i have available to me at this moment is to use physical abilities, like this damn elf is," izumi muttered.

She twisted and shot webbing at potimas, but the webbing fell apart as soon as it was out of her body, giving potimas enough time to dodge the webbing. "Just like i thought. Skills that work only on the outside of the body are being affected just like magic," she muttered as she continued to dodge and deflect potimas's attacks.

"If i stay on the defense, i will be killed. Therefore, i need to attack however i can," she said, as both potimas and her charged at each other. Getting close, she managed to attack with one of her forelegs, using it to cut into his side, but there were sparks and a scraping sound.

Izumi looked at potimas in shock. "What is up with this elf?! My scythes are able to cut through armor, and this world ain't advanced enough since it's near collapse to replace bones with metal. So, what's up?" she muttered.

"Whatever. I'll find out eventually," she said as the two of the charged at each other again. To sophia and merazophis, it looked like the two were nothing but blurs of speed, except for when the two landed for a moment.

Potimas charged, but izumi jumped over him, and kicked him into the wall. "Nice. 10 points," she thought as she landed. Just then, the dust from potimas going through the wall cleared. She turned, and was shocked by his appearance.

"It looks like i was right. He's controlling a mech from a safe distance. It wouldn't be impossible for him to see and hear everything that this thing experiences," izumi thought. "I've had it," mech-potimas said. "I would rather not resort to this, but you've left me with no choice," he said, before his arm changed into a gun.

Mech-potimas blasted at izumi, and she dodged with a "YIPE!" coming out of her mouth. Potimas kept shooting at her, and izumi kept dodging like her life depended on it (because, until she takes out his gun, it DOES depend on it).

"Right. Most of the skills i have would be useless, because of this barrier, and magic is out, because of the same reason. Therefore," she muttered. She turned her gaze to the mechs gun-arm and activated [warping evil eye]. Imagine the surprise that both izumi and the mech had when the gun-arm warped, making it useless.

"I thought it would work. Now," she muttered, before turning her gaze to the rest of the mech and activated [warping evil eye] again, but potimas dodged it. "He's lost his means of ranged attack, and i've figured out how to kill this thing. Now, it all comes down to speed and skill," izumi thought.

The mech and izumi looked at each other for a moment, before they got ready to resume attacking each other. JUST as they got ready, something came in through the roof and landed between them. When the dust cleared, it was revealed to be ariel, carrying eri in one arm.

"What's up, all? Is this a private party, or can anybody join in?" she asked. "Why are you here, ariel? And who's child is that?" the mech asked. "To answer both questions: this spider was having all the fun, and i'm babysitting this little girl," ariel said.

Ariel then looked at the mech. "My turn: what are YOU doing here?" she asked. The mech closed his eye, and said "that's a useless question, followed by an equally useless answer, indeed," carelessly. Ariel then lightly stomped on the ground, causing it to shake while also getting the attention of everyone in the room, before she looked at the mech with hate. "You better talk, now," she said with venom. "Or would you rather i just FORCE you to answer me?!" she finished, while still glaring at the mech.

"I think not!" the mech declared, before it charged at ariel. However, Ariel saw it in slow motion. "Hmph," she said, before she swiped her free arm at the mech, destroying everything except for the head. "It seems like this body won't be able to stop you, either," the head said.

"One of these days, imma do the same thing to your actual body," ariel stated. "Well i'd like to see you TRY, little girl-" ariel stepped on the head, destroying it. Ariel turned to izumi, and winced at the glare she had, and said glare being directed at HER.

Izumi simply held her arms out, causing ariel to hand over the baby sling, and eri, over to her. Izumi put the sling on and hugged eri. She then slapped the top of ariel's head. "OW! What was THAT for?" ariel complained. "I told you to keep her safe, and you brought her onto a battlefield," izumi retorted.

Sophia was confused, as was merazophis. "Excuse me, but who are you two?" merazophis asked. "I'm ariel, the demon lord," ariel introduced herself, even as she rubbed the top of her head in pain. "And this spider monster that you all were worshiping as the divine spider is a reincarnation, as is the little girl in her arms," ariel said. Merazophis was surprised. "The demon lord? And the divine spider is a reincarnation?" he asked.

"That's correct. Now, why don't you and sophia come along with us to demon territory? After all, life can be pretty hard for vampires with no protection," ariel proposed. "I'm a vampire, now? That explains why i was still alive, until the divine spider healed me," merazophis said.

Just then, two small stomachs growled. "Where's the kitchen?" izumi asked. "Follow me, divine spider," merazophis said, before leading her to the kitchen. "Mama, i'm hungry," eri complained in japanese. "Don't worry, baby. I'm getting food," izumi said to eri in japanese.

When merazophis got to the kitchen, izumi explored, until she found fruit and baby formula. She grabbed a knife and sliced the fruit and gave some to eri. After doing that, she prepared some baby food for the little girl that merazophis was carrying. After it was finished, she put some in a bottle and gave it to merazophis. "Here, give this to the one that you are carrying," she said.

"Thank you," merazophis said, taking the bottle. He proceeded to feed sophia.
