Evelyn Romero was just a waitress, comfortably living a reasonably normal life. However one day, the destruction and pain caused by the man in the blue and red outfit had turned her life upside down, leaving her emotionally scarred, although she constantly refuses help for it. Then her life gets that much worse and more complex when she meets a reporter, by the name of Clark Kent.

1. PROLOGUE

Evelyn Romero was once a proud business owner. Her little cafe in Metropolis was her pride and joy, and life was blissful. But then The Incident happened, the day of pure destruction and pain caused by the man in the blue outfit and red cape, turning her life upside down and leaving her riddled with anxiety, pain and PTSD. 'The Incident', Metropolis called it.

Whilst attempting to build her life back together from scratch alongside dealing with the pain that The Incident caused both her and her beloved city, Evelyn meets a man who is patient, kind, beautiful and beyond caring - Clark Kent.

But how can Evelyn fall for the man who caused her life to crumble into pieces? How can Evelyn hate the man she adores - and how could Clark ever tell her the truth, knowing the pain he'd caused her before?
