It was the last day of camp, and time for the obstacle course. Allie could feel herself vibrating with excitement.

Three teams were tied in the competition - Allie's, Grace's, and Brooke's. Allie had been surprised by Brooke's team's sudden comeback. She and Grace had been rather preoccupied, however. Their attention had not fully been on the competition for a while now.

Everything was coming to a head today. She and Grace would run this course and enjoy the celebration lunch. They planned to switch outfits in their cabin afterwards.

Then, she'd be flying to her father. She didn't know how to handle this much excitement.

As she lined up at the beginning of the obstacle course, she was glad she'd have a chance to work off some of her energy. It didn't help right now that several of the campers' parents had come in to watch this last event, heightening everyone's competitiveness. Her own mom hadn't been able to come, thankfully. She and Grace were far too close to pulling off their plan for it to be wrecked now.

Just like the rowing competition, she and Grace would be the last competitors on their teams. In a way, Allie felt as if this were a tie breaker for the two of them. She was determined to win.

The race began, and she cheered loudly. We're talking home the gold this year! she determined.

She watched the race closely. Grace's team held the lead for a while, but as the last round before Allie's went on, both her team and Brooke's managed to catch up, tying the race.

Allie's teammate tagged her in - and she was off at a run. The first obstacle involved her doing an army crawl under some rope. Easy peasy. She made her way through quickly, speeding up when she heard Grace and another girl crawling behind her.

She kept moving, just managing to keep her lead. The two other girls were hot on her heels.

When she made it over the climbing wall obstacle and kept running, Allie heard some sort of crashing noise, as if someone had fallen.

She glanced over her shoulder. Oh my gosh! Grace was literally tied up, stuck in the rope leading down to the ground.

For half a second, Allie thought about hurrying to finish the course. But I can't just leave her there! she concluded. She skidded to a stop and ran back to help her sister.

"What are you doing?" Grace asked, sounding shocked as Allie worked at the rope currently squeezing her limbs. Whoever Brooke's teammate was, she was now passing them on the course. "You were winning!"

"Can't just leave you like this," Allie huffed out as she struggled to untie the rope. "Man, these are tight!"

Grace growled as she worked on another portion of the rope. "Yeah," she agreed. "Thanks for stopping to help."

When they finally freed Grace, they sped through the rest of the course - until they heard a loud roar. Brooke's team had won.

As the sisters crossed the finish line, Allie gave Grace a side-eyed glance. "I would've won, you know?"

Grace's mouth quirked a bit. "Rematch next year?"

They laughed and hugged. Allie definitely hoped they would compete again.

They were at the airport now: it was time to part. Grace hugged Allie tightly.

It was so odd to be in her sister's clothes. She didn't think it would feel so weird since they were the same size, but something in her head screamed that this was different.

"You've got your ticket, right?" Allie asked, looking more nervous than Grace had ever seen her be.

"Right!" she said firmly, watching as Allie raised her little bag with her own tickets to preclude the question being asked of her. "And you know an airman will be picking you up, right?"

"Right!" Allie confirmed. She suddenly squeezed Grace's hands. "Gosh, I hope this works."

Grace was beginning to feel more nervous herself. "Me, too."

"Just be kinda... aggressively sporty," Allie suggested. "She'll never suspect."

Grace huffed out a laugh. "So... be like Dad, then?"

Allie laughed. "From what it sounds like - yes!"

"Now boarding for Las Vegas at Gate 17," the speakers suddenly announced. It was Grace's - or rather, "Allie Carter's" - flight.

Another quick hug and Grace was darting over to her gate, leaving Allie alone as she waited for her own flight. Grace stood in line at the gate, waiting patiently to board until -

"Grace O'Neill?"

Surprised, Grace turned to see Jamie and... her mother? To Grace's alarm, Jamie's mother had been the one to ask the question.

Something about the woman was familiar. What's her name? she wondered. Kim...?

No - Kerry.

She remembered meeting her once before, maybe five or six years ago. Kerry - formerly Johnson, Dad said - had been having some work meetings with her dad, and he'd invited her over to the house. Grace had let him know at the end of the evening that she didn't like the woman, and she'd never seen or heard about Kerry again.

Grace's eyes widened involuntarily. She can't out me this quickly! She shook her head. "My name's Allie. There's a Grace somewhere around here, but it isn't me."

Kerry looked a bit confused, but the look on Jamie's face was definitely skepticism. Crap. Jamie knew.

Grace smiled at Jamie, hoping she'd catch on and play along with her.

Jamie stared for a second before nodding. "Yeah, Mom - this is Allie. We were in the same cabin."

Grace held in a sigh of relief as Kerry looked back and forth between her and her daughter. "Oh, well..." Kerry said, recovering a smile. "It's nice to meet you, Allie. Did you girls have a good summer?"

Grace nodded, breaking out into the grin she knew her more exuberant sister would have on her face at this point. "We sure did!" she chirped. "I'm definitely ready to go home, though."

"I bet!" Kerry exclaimed. Something about the way she said that rang strangely to Grace, however. She's got "adult who doesn't know how to interact with kids" vibes, she mused. Grace felt she understood Jamie a little better now - it would be hard to interact with people if you couldn't have a decent interaction with your own mom.

"We're going to Vegas for vacation," Jamie interjected into the conversation. "You live there, right?"

"Not exactly..." Grace was a little nervous - she did not want her mom meeting Jamie and Kerry, which would happen if Jamie wanted to hang out. "I live outside of it - it's a bit of a long drive, and I don't think we'll have time to come back up to Vegas this week."

"Oh." Jamie looked disappointed.

"Well, we're planning to come back during the winter break," Kerry noted, surprisingly nice now. "Maybe you two girls can meet up then."

"Can I have your ticket, sweetie?" an airline stewardess suddenly asked.

Grace jumped in surprise and quickly pulled out her ticket. The stewardess took a few moments to check everything and directed her inside.

"Bye, Allie!" Jamie called out.

Thankfully, Grace actually reacted to the name she would be going by for the next several days. "Bye, Jamie!"

Kerry waved alongside her daughter. "Nice to meet you, Allie!"

Grace smiled. Inside, however, she still didn't like that woman for some reason.

She breathed a sigh of relief as she made her way to her seat. She'd fooled one adult. Now, it was time to hope her mom would buy the act.
