Part 1

Rouge and Amy's laughter echoed through the cave as they talked. "I can't believe he did that!" Rouge said.
"I know! And he didn't even notice!" Amy almost fell over.
"Maybe you should untie me and we can go teach him a lesson " Rouge said.
"Not a chance." Amy leaned back against a cave wall, waving her finger. "Nice try. But escaping won't be that easy."
"You sure?" A smirk formed on Rouge's face. Amy tensed up, ready for a fight. She didn't notice any movement, but a numbness started creeping up her arm.
She looked at a small dart sticking out from her palm. The numbness spread through her body. Soon her arm stopped moving, and her legs began to shake. She tried punching and kicking Rouge, but they were basically noodles. Then, she went completely limp.
As Amy dropped to the ground, Rouge's eyes turned viscious. She dropped to the ground, letting go of the rope behind her. "Did you really think you could hold me, you witch. Nothing's stopping my pay day."
Amy glared as her vision closed in. "You monster…"
Her smile grew as she leaned in over Amy. "Oh, I'm not just a monster. I'm your worst nightmare, you filthy trickster.
As Amy lost consciousness, her eyes closed. Rouge pulled a poop covered knife from her back and cleaned it. Then she grabbed her gear before making her way toward Sonic.
Suddenly, a yell came from where Sonic was. "You have got to be kidding me! It's that easy!?" A groan was followed by another shout. "I am an idiot!"
A chuckle came from someone else. "Tails, chill out. It happens."
"I've been working for 3 weeks, just to find out this is the on switch!" Tails sounded ready to pull more of his hair out.
Rouge rushed in, throwing darts at Tails and Knuckles. They got hit, but Knuckles immediately rushed her. Rouge dodged, throwing Knuckles into Tails. The two fell to the ground, their bodies going limp as Rouge grabbed Sonic. "Sorry boys. But this hedgehog belongs to me."
She threw Sonic onto her shoulder and ran. Her goggles helped her see through the cave as she rushed toward the entrance.
Once she was outside she took off, her wings beating with all her strength. She yelled in triumph, before letting her wings fall to a glide. Sonic was really heavy for someone the size of an elementary schooler.
A thick wind helped her speed up. Soon the skyline came into view. She smirked. If she was quick enough, she'd be able to get Knuckles too. Maybe she could even get the bounty on Amy.
Her thoughts broke as she realized Sonic's weight had left her shoulders. She dove, looking for the blue hedgehog, but didn't see him. As she came to the ground, she kept searching for his body.
Then she turned her chaos reader on. There weren't any nearby creatures with chaos energy. "What on Mobius?" She checked again, no signs. She looked around for a body, but that wasn't around either. "W-what just happened?"

Sonic woke with a start. He looked around at an open plain of grass fields and flowers. Stars covered the night sky. He was sitting in a patch of dirt with a small campfire. "Hey, how you feeling?" Shadow sat next to him holding out a cup of water.
"Ugh…" Sonic took the cup and drank. His throat cleared of gunk as the water washed it down. "Thanks." It took him a few seconds to process who was in front of him. "Wait, Shadow?"
Shadow snickered. "Can't leave you alone for 2 seconds without pissing off the government and almost getting killed, can I?"
Sonic rolled his eyes. "Dude, you've been gone for months."
"Touché." Shadow laughed. "But at least I didn't get beat by Rouge."
"Rouge?" Sonic raised an eyebrow. "What are you on about? I haven't seen her since the Norwegian walrus incident."
"You mean the-"
"No one calls it that."
"I do!" Shadow said.
"See this is why everyone calls you weird." Sonic said.
Shadow snickered. "This coming from the guy who only dates chicks with hammers."
"Oh cause that's as weird as you and your nose hair collection." Sonic snickered.
"Hey, that thing has saved your life twice." Shadow threw his arms up. "And that's not exactly dangerous, unlike you breaking into prison."
"Oh…" Sonic rubbed the back of his head. "I guess you heard about that."
Shadow nodded calmly. "I actually came to ask about it."
Sonic couldn't hide the rage building in him. "They put a kid with no criminal record in Argon prison. Records show he wouldn't ever be released."
"Yeah, Ivo told me about Tails. But he neglected to mention that part." Shadow picked at the fire. "So what's your endgame here? What are you after?"
Sonic hesitated. He looked at the fire and sighed. "Honestly, I'm not sure…" His hands hardened into fists, shaking. "But I couldn't just let more kids get taken or killed. And I refuse to take any more lives." He gritted his teeth as rage surged through his body. Then he calmed down. "Maybe I can expose what's been going on. But I have to make sure there's irrefutable, tangible proof. And it has to be something people can't ignore."
Shadow didn't respond for a few minutes, waiting to see if Sonic would continue. Then he spoke. "Tails may be innocent. But Knuckles and Amy have committed some serious crimes." He sighed. "I'm sorry, but I have to take those two in. When this is over, I'm going to arrest them."
Sonic flinched, before sagging. "Yeah, I figured that'd be the case..."
A confident smile formed on Shadow's face. "Still…there's nothing that says I can help you. Maybe we can find something." He whistled. "Evidence that can't be ignored is a pretty tall order. In my experience, the only things that get people really active are rage and fear. And that escalates quickly." Shadow shuddered.

Part 3

Amy groaned, a blurred light forming in front of her eyes. She got up as her vision of the cave around her cleared up. A cut rope hung from the cave ceiling.
Her heart raced as she realized what had happened. She wobbled through the cave, her footsteps getting faster and firmer as she went. Knuckles and Tails were slumped against an empty table.
Sonic was gone. Rouge had him. She checked to make sure Tails and Knuckles were ok before booking for the exit. Her foot pounded across the rock until she was under the night sky. She looked around for any sign of Rouge or Sonic, but there was nothing.
"No!" She pounded the rock wall next to her, leaving a fist shaped hole. "Ok, where would she head? The city!" She dashed in that direction. She wasn't sure she was faster than Rouge, but she had to try to catch her.
Then again...this might still be a hallucination. If that were true, maybe she could catch Rouge. Of course her weird mind would make up a fantasy of rescuing Sonic right after one of being rescued by him. Well, she might as well enjoy it.
Crash! Amy reeled in shocked pain. She was on her butt, looking up at a very angry Rouge. The veins in her eyes bulged. "All right, no more tricks you crazy nature witch! Where is Sonic!?" She stomped on Amy's shoulder, drawing a knife.
"Rouge?" Amy stared at the white bat in utter confusion. "What are you-"
"I'm not playing you little weasel!" Rouge stabbed her knife down, which Amy caught. "Tell me where he is right now! Or I will gut you like a fish!"
The knife inched toward Amy's chest until she kicked Rogue. The bat went flying as Amy shot to her feet. "You wanna go? Let's go." Amy smirked, punching her palm. "I'll kick your butt all over again."
