Part 1
"Put your hands in the air!" Several men in green uniforms aimed machine guns at Sonic and the rest of his group. The soldiers stretched out across the tree line. Several of them were visibly nervous, sweating and shaking.
Knuckles, Amy, and Tails all had their hands up. Sonic didn't, he just smirked at the group of soldiers. "I know camouflage is supposed to keep you guys hidden, but those just make you look like you just got out of a paint ball fight."
"I said hands up!" One of the soldiers stepped forward, glaring at Knuckles. He didn't have the same fear in his eyes as the others.
Sonic put his hands up, then started waving them back and forth. Amy turned to Sonic whispering. "What are you doing!? Do you want them to shoot!?" She smiled nervously at the gun men.
Sonic tried to keep the laughter out of his voice as he leaned over to her. "Not necessarily, but I really want to see how they'll react when they realize they don't have bullets. It's always hilarious to see people's faces when stuff like that happens."
Amy blinked, then turned to Sonic. "I'm sorry, what now?"
Sonic shrugged, whispering in Amy's ear. "Super speed has its perks. Also, all their guns have-"
"Enough talking! Shut up and put your hands in the air. Unless you want us to open fire." The leader of the soldiers said.
"I could use a shower." Sonic walked forward putting his hands behind his head. His hands were pointing in a direction away from the soldiers. Then Sonic put his hands on his hips. "Go ahead, hit me with your best shot."
Amy, Knuckles, and Tails ran away as a few soldiers opened fire. Sonic stood there getting soaked until the soldiers stopped. Other soldiers opened fire, also spraying him with water. Then Sonic heard a set gunshot. His face turned to shock and panic as he realized one of the soldiers still had his machine gun.
He ran toward the gunman picking up clumps of dirt to throw at the bullets. He couldn't keep up with the bullets himself, but he could still hit them with dirt. For the time being he was able to mess with the bullets enough to slow down. The soldier kept firing as Sonic got closer and closer throwing dirt at the bullets.
Sonic got to the soldier, as a bullet hit his hand. He punched the soldier's gun, knocking it to the ground. At the same time, a bullet hit Sonic's hand. He moved his hand to minimize the damage, but it still left a bruise.
Sonic held his hand grimacing for a moment before stomping the machine gun in half. Then he ran between the soldiers, tying their shoes together. He slowed down a few times, wincing as his injured hand hit a shoelace wrong, but didn't run into too many issues.
Several soldiers went after him when he stopped, but they just fell down. Sonic waved a finger smiling. His face turned serious when he heard the sound of helicopter rotors, and he ran away as fast as he could.
The leader of the soldiers tapped a watch on his wrist. "Sir. They got away."
"What!? How!?"
"Sonic-uh. He-replaced our guns with water guns and tied our shoes together."
An audible slap came from the device. "Oh for the love of…" The voice sighed. "Return to base for further instructions."
Part 2
Blaze approached the altar of the master emerald. As dangerous as Chaos escaping would be, watching over the creature was somehow calming. It would give her time to think about Silver's plan.
It wasn't a decision to take lightly, but it also might be necessary. She saw Tikal sitting on a stone bench looking at the emerald. She wouldn't say anything right now, but there was only so much time before she had to decide.
Tikal turned to look at Blaze as she approached. "How does time travel work?"
"What?" Blaze hadn't even registered the question.
"You and Silver traveled back in time right? How did you do it?"
"Oh. That's " Blaze did a double take. "Hold on, what? Why would-" Blaze stopped for a moment. "Uh, Tikal. We already discussed this. There's no way to send everyone back in time. Too much energy demand, too much change even if we pulled it off. It wouldn't work."
Tikal shook her head. "No. I'm not trying to go back in time. I'm trying to go forwards."
"Uh…" Blaze tried to wrap her head around what Tikal was thinking. "Why?…"
Tikal kept going. "Your future is still burning right?" Blaze winced at the statement. "Sorry." Tikal looked away.
"It's fine." Blaze said. "What were you saying?"
"Anyway, that means Chaos will escape at some point. We captured him at this point in time. What if we travel to the point where he escapes?"
"The points we can travel to are locked. That's why Silver and I came to this point in time. Besides, even if we trapped it again, Chaos would just escape again. Silver and I already lost. Chaos is invincible" Blaze clenched her fist. "No one we know of can match the power of the chaos emeralds. The closest I've ever heard of is someone named Knuckles and he died like everyone else."
"So you can only travel to certain points in time. So the only way to stop Chaos is to destroy it. As much as I hate to admit it, you're probably right about that monster. It's indestructible." Tikal thought for a moment. "Hold on. You mentioned someone named Knuckles. Do you know how he fought Chaos?"
"Actually yeah. He used the 6 chaos emeralds."
Tikal raised an eyebrow. "Uh...don't you mean 7?"
"No...I'm certain your journal said he used 6. Personally I'd settle for sending Chaos into space, if it worked."
"D-did you just say my journal?"
Part 3
Shadow entered a massive carpeted room filled with computer hardware. A few desks with computer monitors lined the edges of the room. Most of the computers were in use but 1 had a chair labeled reserved.
Shadow sat down at the chair turning on the computer. A blue glow came from the monitor. "Voice input required."
"Agent Shadow, authorization code: supersonic." Shadow pressed down a fingerprint scanner and entered Hero through the keyboard when asked for another password.
The computer spoke again. "Authorization confirmed. Welcome Agent Shadow."
Shadow opened an app with a GD logo. A web page like window opened, and Shadow entered Specimen 343 into the search bar. He searched through the results finding something on Sonic's creation.
That document didn't prove very helpful, but he did find another file on Sonic's brain. After reading about the brain implantation process, he found a portion referring to its creation.
Another message came onto the screen. "Classified information. Further authorization required." A password tab appeared.
Shadow would have been out of luck if Robotnick hadn't given him the password to access the file. He entered savior, the password working to open another file on the screen
The title read. "Document classified at level 5. Specialized filters required for viewing."
Shadow looked at a pair of goggles on the table; a cord connected them to the computer. A blue light on the side of the goggles had turned on.
Shadow looked at the nonsense of the file in front of him. There weren't any sentences, words, or even letters. It was just a bunch of squiggles and unknown symbols.
Shadow put on the goggles, looking at the screen again. This time he was able to read the article.
He began scanning through the document mentioning a married couple: Gary and Anne Pholson. Their picture was shown below their names, though Shadow had no idea if anyone else would be able to see the picture clearly without the goggles.
The two looked like they were in their 20's, maybe 30's. Anne had a bulge to her stomach, not that Shadow was surprised. What did surprise him was the way she looked. He hadn't realized it at first, but her red hair and face were almost identical to Harriet Thatcher, one of the most brilliant physicists of the era.
Shadow didn't even know how to react. Thatcher was a childhood friend. Now that he thought about it, Harriet had mentioned having a little sister. But she'd gone missing as a baby, and no one ever found her.
He looked over the file more closely.
Anne Pholson is believed to have a near genius level of intelligence. Her biological parentage is unknown, as her adoptive parents supposedly found her on what they claimed was a sacrificial altar used by a cult of some sort. The parents do not seem to share their daughter's mental ability, with slightly above average intelligence.
112E Akez 12
Anne Pholson and 15 other exceptional individuals have children due between the months of Ernz and Darthop of year 112E. These children all have been found to have a high risk of dying through non-brain damaging means at or within a week of birth. Anne Pholson made primary person of interest at request of brigadier general Gilbert Oran.
112E Beveth 3
Subject's child, Reese Pholson, died approximately as predicted of cardiac arrest 1 hour after birth. Infant's brain was successfully kept alive, and placed in storage for potential use.
Brain is to be used for development of Specimen 250 to test use of synthetic material to restore a dead person whose brain is still functional.
112E Gosdu 23
Specimens 250-310 proved unstable as Pholson's brain rejected them. Specimen 311 shows signs of success. Brain seems to work within Specimen, has accepted artificial body, and is functional. Brain seems to have developed beyond normal human ability with superior processing speed based on measurement of brain waves. IQ level is currently unknown. Reason for increased intelligence is unknown. Supplements were given to help improve brain growth and could be the cause, however the parentage of the donor is also considered a possible reason for exceptional cognitive function.
112E Darthop 2
Specimen 311 seems to have attained consciousness and even displays rudimentary personality. At the request of Dr. Ivo Robotnick, the subject has been renamed Specimen 343. Another brain was acquired from donor Alice Mordas for potential use in Specimens 312-342 and 344-350.
Shadow had technically found the evidence he was looking for, but it wasn't what he'd hoped for. While it was true that Oran had committed an awful act, it wasn't exactly evidence of illegal activity. The child had died of natural causes.
There was still one possibility however. While it was true that desecrating a corpse wasn't against the law for some reason, preventing family members from having a proper funeral in a matter fitting their intention was.
It was a technicality, but it would still be enough to land Oran in jail for about a decade. He just had to talk to the Pholson family. Unfortunately, he wasn't allowed to tell them classified information without clearance.
Revealing level 3 or higher documents to the public without clearance was treason. Of course if he happened to get permission from someone with level 5 clearance, say a 3 star general who believed in Oran's guilt and happened to be friends with Shadow. Then suddenly Shadow would have the clearance he needed.

Comment responses
momojifan: Interesting theory about Percy. As for Tikal and Chaos, Tikal has been around as long as Chaos has, and Chaos has been around as long as Tikal. Those two are old, really old, and they're even older in the future Blaze and Silver come from.
cypony: Thanks, hope you keep enjoying the story.
