Clank: Gaspar

As their ship approached the fiery planet, the Blarg fleet surrounding it once again did not fire upon them.

"We're getting lucky, having Qwark's ship, Ratchet."

"I know mom. Clank, any news on their communications?"

"Nothing. We aren't being followed, either, so they don't suspect anything."

Ratchet's eyes kept darting around. "If I have to guess, Qwark's nature would make unexpected visits…almost normal."

"We'll take any edges we can get."

Ratchet nodded, as the ship landed on the planet, near one of the research facilities.

"So, Ratchet, what exactly are we looking for?"

"Besides information on Drek? There's a helmet here that allows you to remote pilot a ship with just your thoughts."

"Well…that sounds…disasterous."

"For the poor test subject, yeah. Ship immediately crashed."

"But I can imagine the benefits. The mind is far faster than any body, so having your ship be controlled by it could be devastating."

They neared a hover platform, and stepped on it, expecting to head down…but did nothing.

"Is it broken?"

"Negative," Clank responded, "The platform seems to have the power deactivated. Source seems to come from the central laboratory."

"Think we can make the jump?"

"While Mrs. Rose certainly could, you could not. And I'm not sure I want to know what it feels like to be teleported."

"Have to correct you, Clank," Summer retorted, "That throw is too far, even at this higher angle. They're getting smarter. Only path left is around. Hope you don't mind dancing on the surface of lava."

Ratchet rolled his eyes as the trio traveled down into the outskirts, swingshoting their way across the lava.

"Ratchet," Clank commented, "My scanners are showing those Blarg warships are connected to fueling tanks."

Ratchet hummed, "It seems that this place doubles as a fueling station," he Requipped the Devestator with a smirk, "And they aren't even paying the tab for it."

He aimed at one of the fueling canisters, and destroyed it. The resulting explosion ignited the fuel, traveling up the pipe, and into the ship. The chain reaction caused the ship to explode. Summer smirked.

"I imagine taking out the entire fleet here might make a dent."

"But it would also," Clank retorted, "Alert Drek to our location."

"Isn't that what we're trying to do?"

"Not when he has a fleet above us in orbit."

"Clank's got a point," Ratchet commented, "With that fleet, Drek might be the type of guy to blow this facility to hell and back just to take us out. Still won't stop us from blowing up the ships down here, but keep that in mind."

Summer nodded, conceding Clank's point. The trio continued on their way, destroying more of Drek's docked ships, eventually reaching a Gasparian lava skiff. Taking it, they traversed across the surface, reaching the area they saw earlier.

"Well, we made it."

"Yes," Clank replied, "But the door is sealed shut."

Ratchet smirked, "Mom, cover me, I have an idea."

Summer nodded, charging at the Blarg security robots as Ratchet took control of the turret. Turning it, he immediately blasted the door, ripping it apart.

"Alright, let's go-"

But Summer was already through the doorway, swinging at a bomb droid like it was a baseball, and Sundered was the bat.

"Oh, boy."

"I assume Summer is going on a rampage?"

"A directed rampage, but, yeah."

Ratchet followed through, watching Summer tear through the blarg robots. She watched as she ripped off the head of one with her axe, then threw it at another one, before gunning the downed body, and continuing on her way. There was another door blocking their path, but Summer merely threw her axe over it, then teleported to it.

"Mom, wait!"

But Summer either didn't hear, or didn't care, as she was already on the elevator heading into the facility.

"Oh, dear…" Clank commented. Ratchet quickly did some island hopping, reaching another turret to blast open the door. Once gone, the duo followed Summer…or, rather, her path of destruction. The first room had a dozen robots dismantled, but the hallway leading out looked like something out of a zombie flick.

A hallway of tanks, lined up against the wall, but one of them was blocking the exit. It was clearly destroyed, as the massive gash at an angle downward could indicate. Ratchet followed into the next room, seeing more dead robots, and the exit doorway, with the corner of the door ripped off.

"I really hope she didn't go blood hungry, and this is simply anger."

"Isn't that the same?"

"No. The latter can be talked down."

"Yikes," Yang commented, "Mom doesn't hold back."

"When she has her ax," Oobleck replied, "And she's in that mood, no she does not. It's why she'd go on those walks as she said. I wouldn't be surprised if, while she raised Ratchet, she occasionally went out to fight the roaming packs of Veldin toads-"

"You mean Horny Toads."

"I refuse to call them that, Miss Rose."

Oobleck may be glaring at them, but that didn't stop Yang and Ruby from giggling.

Ratchet took the nearby turret, finished off the destroyed door, and headed to the outside platform. Summer stood next to a crashed ship, her back to him, but her shoulders tensed. Ratchet Requipped his newly purchased Walloper. If this went bad, he'd need to really knock some sense back into her.

"Mom?"

Her right hand, holding the axe, was shaking. With considerable effort, her left hand gripped the right, and slowly slowed it down. He could hear a deep breath.

"Sorry, Ratchet…After Qwark…I needed to let out some steam."

"No, no, it's alright, going nuts is fine. Just don't get too far ahead. If Qwark wanted to take one of us hostage, it'd be far harder if we stay together."

Summer nodded, turning around, "Yeah, I know. Again, I'm-"

"You don't need to say anymore, mom."

Summer scanned the area, finding a helmet on the ground. Picking it up, she inspected it.

"Is this that helmet we saw in the Info-bot?"

"Yes," Clank answered, "A Blargian Neural Helmet."

Summer put the helmet on, which then reconfigured itself to match her size.

"Nice tech. Where to next?"

"Next, Orxon, Drek's homeworld."

"Finally," Yang declared, "They'll be hitting Drek in his own backyard."

Meanwhile, as Clank continued the story, Hunter Squad continued to patrol the area. Rocket was on a rooftop when Razor jumped from the building's side, running towards him.

"Razor, what's up?"

A series of images went off in Razor's eye. To most they'd find it hard to decipher, but Hunter Squad has learned quite well how to translate them.

{I discovered something important.}

"And you couldn't mention over the radio?"

{It was damaged in the crash, moron.}

"Fair enough. So, hit me."

{There's someone approaching our ship.}

Author's Notes: A MUCH shorter chapter. Like I said, these stories are under the impression that you've played the games, so you know the landscapes. Summer's tendencies flared up again, though that should've been obvious by now. And, back on Remnant, things seem to be moving into motion.
