Fairy Tail needed to heal and gather strength. The Magic Council has even agreed to give them some money to help rebuild the destroyed town.
Gray and Lucy would take many quests together as teammates, aiming to grow closer and stronger. And one such mission was already in progress.
It took place near Mt. Unlue where Gray and Lucy were looking for a treasure map said to be buried in an abandoned cave nearby. After defeating monsters left and right, mainly Gray doing it, the two finally came upon the cave in question. It looked old and run down, but was still structurally sound enough for them both to enter without any trouble whatsoever.
Upon entering the cave, they noticed a large chest sitting against the wall of the cavernous space around themselves while walking deeper inside cautiously before reaching its location soon enough thus leading towards the opening top part carefully revealing contents within shortly afterwards once again finding nothing but various gold coins scattered everywhere across the hard floor below alongside other jewellery items made entirely out metal which glittered beautifully underneath faint light shining brightest from somewhere above.
"Ohoo!" Lucy's eyes were lit with money signs. She was a sucker for a heap of currency. Gray just shook his head at the blonde's antics and turned to the treasure chest. He rummaged through the riches for something useful, when suddenly...
"Huh? What is that?" Gray reached further down, pulling out a scroll that was wrapped in leather. He unrolled it and looked over the document.
"What's that you found?" Lucy asked.
"I think it's a treasure map." Gray responded, studying the map intently. "But it looks really old...I can hardly make out what it says."
"Hey! Maybe that means it'll lead us to something valuable!" Lucy exclaimed excitedly, grabbing the scroll from Gray's hands. "Let me see!"
Gray sighed and let her take it. Lucy held up the parchment and studied it closely, trying to decipher what it said.
"Hmm...this part looks like directions...but I don't know where this place is. Do you?" Lucy asked.
"Not at all." Gray shrugged. "There are so many ruins out here, I don't think we'd ever find the right one by accident. Especially if it's hidden somewhere underground."
Speaking of underground, something from beneath started rumbling below them both making the ground shake slightly while moving apart slowly causing cracks form across hard surfaces forming underneath feet sending vibrations through the whole body forcing Lucy to tumble backwards accidentally falling onto Gray. "Wagh!"
"Gouh!" Gray bellowed as he felt Lucy's busty chest slam into his back. But before anything else happened, the area around them exploded into chaos. Something large emerged from below in response to the treasure chest being opened and rifled through.
"AHHHH!" Lucy cried out when seeing a massive creature burst forth from deep depths below raising arms high overhead threateningly afterwards smashing against nearby rock formations destroying everything within reach almost immediately. "It just had to be a monster! Why can't it be just easy cash?!" Lucy moaned.
"We'll just deal with this guy and be out of here!" Gray narrowed his gaze on the beast. "Ice Make: Hammer!" A giant hammer formed in his hand which he swung at the creature. The monster was staggered but not defeated. It retaliated with a swipe of its claws, striking Gray across the chest.
"Ah!" Gray grunted in pain, feeling his clothes rip open from the impact. His chest was exposed now and bleeding a bit, but he didn't let that stop him.
"Gray!" Lucy yelped, watching the scene unfold before her very eyes. She couldn't believe how brutal these attacks were! They seemed almost unreal compared against previous battles fought recently beforehand which showed great difference between opponents encountered here today versus earlier.
'Damn! This thing is tough!' Gray thought as a fist came flying his way. However, he would suddenly catch it, a shockwave moving across the ground. "But...I can't lose here! Erza's waiting for us! And I won't fail her again!" He shouted with determination.
Gray then began to freeze the monster's hand, encasing it in ice. The creature was unable to free itself, so it swung its tail at Gray. But he dodged, letting go of the frozen appendage in the process.
"Ice Make: Lance!" Gray chanted. Multiple spears made of ice materialized above him and flew towards their target.
"Raaaaaagh!" The monster roared as it was struck repeatedly by the icy projectiles. It tried breaking free again but found itself immobile due to being stuck inside an enormous block of solid ice now covering entire body entirely including head making any movements impossible afterwards That allowed Lucy to play her part.
"Here goes! Open: Gate of the Golden Bull! Taurus!" Lucy called forth her Zodiac Spirit, summoning him from the Celestial World to aid her in battle.
"Mooo-hooh~" Taurus appeared before the duo and stared lustfully at Lucy's breasts. "Miss Lucy! Your tits are as voluptuous as always!"
"Hey! Don't ogle my boobs!" Lucy scolded him, slapping Taurus upside the head. "Just take care of that thing!"
"You got it!" Taurus responded enthusiastically. "Let me handle this, Miss Lucy!"
Taurus ran forward with his axe ready and charged right up to the frozen beast. With one swing, he shattered the creature's prison. "Oi! Mooo~!"
The monster roared angrily at being freed, but before it could retaliate, Taurus struck it again, knocking it back into the wall behind it. Then he swung his axe once more, slicing through the creature's body with ease. Blood spurted out everywhere as the beast fell onto the ground.
Lucy watched in amazement as her Zodiac Spirit demolished the monster before her very eyes. 'Amazing! This is incredible! I never thought I'd see such power coming from anyone other than Gray!' She thought excitedly.
"Oh yeah?" Gray smirked, deciding to show him up. "Then watch this! Ice Make: Cannon!" He chanted, forming a cannon on his shoulder. "Freeze!" He shot a beam of cold energy directly towards the beast while it was still down. The creature was completely encased in ice, rendering it immobile.
"Wow! You're amazing too, Gray!" Lucy said cheerfully. "This quest was worth it after all!" She cheered happily along Gray who grinned proudly looking upon his work. "We're gonna get paaaaiiiiid~"
"Hehe. We sure are." Gray chuckled before looking at his hand. "This is only the start, Erza. Just wait for us."
