Requirements: Abi could be alive/dead
August 23rd -Nick
Hackett's Quarry-Shady Glade trail
He didn't know where he was. Birds chirped around him. The sunshine just starting to peak through the trees.
It was morning. And he was in the woods. He's covered in blood. How did he end up in the woods? What happened to his clothes? They hung off him in tatters. And why was he covered in blood. More importantly who's blood was it?
He remembers the pool. And how the water burned his skin like he had been dunked in acid. How hungry he was and how angry he was at Abi. He had said some real nasty things to her but he couldn't remember what. Why couldn't he remember? All he could think about was her.
Abi.
He hoped she was ok. That he didn't hurt her. No, he wouldn't hurt her.
He had to get out of these woods. If he could find his way out. He looked around but could not for the life of him decipher where he was.
"Emma? Nick? Abi?" He heard a voice call.
It sounded really close. It sounded like...
"Jacob?"
"Nick?"
"Here. I'm over here."
"Man, am I glad to see you!"
"Jeez, you look like hell." He glanced Jacob over. He had a makeshift crunch under his arm, made out of a tree branch.
"Hey, speak for yourself."
"What happened to you?" Jacob also had blood on him. Only it was just on his face.
"Oh, this? This is nothing. Just stepped in a bear trap on a daily stroll. There were like these things in the woods. Hunting us. And then these hunters..."
"Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I remember the big guy. I think he was trying to help us."
"So much for helping, I stepped into one of his bear traps and they put me in a fucking cage all night."
"Maybe they didn't have the best social skills." Nick sounded a little skeptical.
"Sounds about right. Big guy didn't seem too big on words. I think we're ok now. Maybe the others know what's going on. Maybe we should go look for them?"
"Not in your condition you're not. We should head for the lodge. You look worse off than me."
"Eh, no complaints." Jacob shrugged. He looked around, pointing his hand every which way, as if trying to figure out what direction to go. "Uh...do you know where we are?"
Great. He was just as lost as he was.
Wait a minute...
Nick now recognized the familiar landmarks. The stream and the giant fallen tree. The place where he and Abi had kissed and then had been attacked. "Yeah. Yeah. I can find the way back from here."
