Alternate Scenarios.

Requirements: Emma survived in Chris Hackett's surveillance room. Kaitlyn survived the showdown in the lodge. Dylan has his hand/turned. Caleb died in the freezer. Abi and Nick are dead. The body in the lake wasn't discovered. Emma didn't take the photo of the creature in the tree house.

August 23rd -Emma

Hackett Lodge

Emma pounds on the office door. Everything had gone quiet. No way they forgotten her in here.

"Hello. I'm still in here. Hello? Let me out, please!"

The lock suddenly clicked. The door opened, revealing Kaitlyn on the other side.

"Thank God. Finally. Took you long enough." She looks around. "Hey, where is everyone?"

"None of the others came back yet. It's just us and Dylan."

Emma sees him sitting on the stairs. He's strangely quiet. At least he's ok.

"I have no idea how we're going to explain everything that's happened."

There was a knock at the door. The three counselors glanced at it, uncertain of what to do. The night was over, the werewolves were gone, but that didn't mean the hunters weren't still out there.

"Hey, let me in!" A muffled voice came from behind the door, banging louder now. "..C'mon guys."

"Wait, that's Jacob." Kaitlyn ran to the door. "Emma, come help me move the table."

Kaitlyn

A few seconds later with the table removed, Emma opened the door to reveal Jacob, hobbling on a makeshift crutch. hoping on one foot like he couldn't take the weight.

"So it's over right, we're safe?"

"We're safe. At least till the cops get here. We're going to have to get our story straight."

Kaitlyn pulls up a chair for Jacob and he sits down. She checks his foot over.

"I think your ankle might be broken." He calls out in pain as she pulls it toward her. "Yep. Definitely broken."

"And how long does a broken ankle take to heal?"

"You remember that one time I broke my leg, right? It took about two months?."

"Fuck. I have to put off swimming for two whole months?"

"Maybe longer."

"Well, there goes my swimming career. Ah, fuck it. You know what, when I get home, I'm telling my dad I'm quitting the swim team. Uh,where's Ryan? I was with him but then we got separated."

"He went off with one of the counselors that didn't show up. Well, she showed up. She and her boyfriend. They showed up one night early. He was attacked by one of those things in the storm shelter, and got turned into a werewolf."

"Werewolves. Of course."

"You're not even going to question it?"

"It would explain a whole lot."

"Anyway, said werewolf in question was Mr H. Mr H's brother is the sheriff, he had them locked up for two months. And the only cure is to kill the werewolf that bit you. That's where Ryan and Laura went."

"That's really fucked up. Hey, that must be eye patch lady"

"You saw her?"

"Yeah. Freakin hunters had me in a freakin electrified cage, right next to one of those werewolves. I don't know which one was next to me. She just freakin blasted the thing. Then the hunters found them. I was only able to get out because the power failed. I found my way back here through the underground tunnels. It led into the lake."

"I still have no idea how we're going to explain all this."

"Well, we can't say werewolves...what we say it was bear or something?"

"If we have to. And the Hackett's went nuts and attacked us. Which wouldn't be further from the truth I mean..."

"Shit. Has anyone seen Nick?"

"Nick...killed Abi. It wasn't him. It's not like he had any control.

Jacob:"Jesus. What am I going to tell him? Man. Poor Abi. She didn't deserve any of this. Fuck."

"You know you're so dead when you tell the others what you did."

Emma walks over. "Did what?"

There was definitely an awkward tension between the pair, but there was no denying the relief to see one another alive again. Emma took Jacob's hand in hers, without saying a word, and gave it a squeeze.

"C'mon." Kaitlyn says to Dylan, "We should give them some space."

Dylan

Worry nestled in Dylan's core as he watched Emma and Jacob in front of him resting after their ordeal. They looked as if they could work things out. They were talking in low whispers. Not once raising their voices. He wondered if he'd ever work things out with Ryan. He should be back. Why wasn't he here? What was taking so long?

"He's going to be okay." Kaitlyn spoke, pulling Dylan out of his thoughts.

"He should have been back by now."

The lodge was brightly lit by sunlight now, and the soft sound of birds singing was heard faintly behind the window panes.

Outside, the sound of a vehicle coming to a halt can be heard.

They snap their heads to the door to see a figure appear in the doorway.

The cop, followed by Ryan and Laura, and a fourth person, who had to be Max entered the lodge.

Ryan explains what happened after he went off with Laura. And their showdown with Silas, seeing Eliza in the woods, and the Harum Scarum fire and how the Hackett's fit into it all.

Kaitlyn: I thought that was just a ghost story.

Travis: It's not a ghost story. It was tragedy. People died in that fire. It haunted my family for years. Especially Kaylee." Both he and Ryan look utterly devastated.

"So, it's over then?" Kaitlyn asks.

"So, she was real? The Hag of Hackett's Quarry?" Dylan still didn't quite believe the voice he had heard on the phone in Mr H's office and the lodge was actually real.

"She didn't want us to kill Silas...he was the one that bit you outside the radio hut..but yeah...it's over. The curse of Hackett's Quarrry is broken."

Max: What the fuck. I guess ghosts aren't much of a big leap from werewolves."

Travis: That's not either here nor there right now. Have any one of you seen Caleb?"

Kaitlyn looks over at Dylan who bows his head. "I'm sorry. He came at us. I didn't know it was him. When I came back from looking for the others... " It was already too late. Caleb had froze to death. She looks toward the kitchen.

"This is everyone..." Ryan asks as Travis goes to check out the kitchen.

Kaitlyn: Everyone's that come back. Yeah. Still no sign of Nick. I found Dylan.. He turned. In the scrapyard...I barley had time to get away."

"What?" Maybe he should have cut off Dylan's hand. He had put Kaitlyn in danger. But no...she had gotten away. And if he had cut off Dylan's hand, he could have bled out or died from infection. Better a temporary werewolf than dead.

"Saved my life actually."

Ryan walked over to Dylan where he is sitting on the steps. "Hey."

"Hey. "

"Are you?...How's the..."

"It healed up nicely." He holds up his hand. The bite where the werewolf had sunk it's teeth, is a jagged scar. Like it's been healed over for several weeks.

"I guess we all have our battle scars." Ryan lifts his shirt.

"Ryan! Holy shit..."

"It's ok. It's not as fatal as it was. If it was I'd have bled out by now. Thanks to Laura. She had to bite me. The big hunter dude stabbed me. When I...shot Chris, it broke the curse. Didn't matter anyway, if only Travis told us about the white wolf sooner."

"White wolf?"

"Silas."

"Right." The one that had bit him. He was sure. The same one he saw at the radio hut was the same one at the scrapyard. It's white pale leathery skin, and bloody maw snarling, red eyes staring at him. It would haunt his dreams for a very long time.

"I'm sorry." They both say at the same time.

"For what? What do you have to be sorry for..."

Travis comes back from the kitchen, silent tears track his face, as he looks back at the others stone faced.

Ryan thinks he's going to snap and kill them all. Or he's not going to let them go and frame them for all of it.

Travis: "First things first before the authorities get here. We need to get our stories straight."

Laura: Aren't you the authority?"

Travis: They're likely going to send the state police to investigate. They're going to want to separate all of you. Before that happens, we're going to get our stories straight. You're going to say it was my families fault.

"What?" Ryan asked with a shocked expression.

"I mean, it sort of is." Laura said.

"You got that right. You know what sort of hell you put me through," Jacob hobbled up on his foot. "put us all through?"

Ryan: "Why would you help us? Kaylee and Caleb are dead?" The wound was still pretty fresh.

"Kaylee was an accident. Caleb...you were only defending yourself." Ryan wasn't buying it. Who's to say he wouldn't turn on them later? Laura didn't seem to buy it either.

Laura: You're just giving up. Just like that? Why not lock us all up, charge us with all of this...it's not like you covered your tracks before...it's all one big cover up right?"

Max (whispers): Laura, don't give him any ideas.

Travis: you're right, I could do that..." The counselors back up as he reaches for his gun. Slowly he takes his hand off the holster. "but I won't. Alright...here's the deal. It's hunting season, right? You thought they were after you. They couldn't let you go after what happened to Kaylee."

"Are you sure? They were your family?" Max asked.

"They were all going to pull me down in the well with them. Had to cut the rope sometime."

Two cops, and several ambulances arrive. With a lot of fuss from Ryan. His stab wound still needed medical attention. The EMT refused Dylan to ride with him. "At least let me get his number first." The EMT sighed with annoyance knowing they were not going to win.

"You never quit do you?" Ryan asked.

"Oh shit, my phone. I must've lost it when..." He exploded out of his clothes.

"There's always later."

"I don't know about that. If we decide to just be friends...it would be a mess to date me anyway."

"Oh yeah? I'd find that hard to believe."

"Whatever you decide. We still got time."

"I just...have to figure out, who I am first."

"Yeah. No worries. If you want to be Dylan Dylan or blase Dylan. I'll be here."

And depending on how much time, whatever they decide to be, it would be on their own terms.

AN: This chapter can work if characters are still alive. Just add their dialogue from previous chapter. I don't want to write the same scene over and over for little minor changes/character dialogue. Just take out dialogue if certain character is dead.

Other scene suggestions will be pretty much appreciated!

I really loved writing this chapter because of Ryan and Dylan reuniting of course! I thought of Travis turning on them depending if Caleb died in the freezer but decided against it. I don't want to write Travis as the villain as I think he is just a good man who was forced into an unfortunate situation and had to do things he wasn't proud of. Spoiler for his redemption arch (but I'm too lazy to write it btw), in order to make amends for the loss of his family and for what he's done and what his family caused, he IS the one who sends the evidence to the podcast that ends up exonerating the counselors in the end!
