Adam is sitting on the living room couch, lost in the world of video games, his focus on the battle raging on the ridiculously massive TV screen before him. He listens to Piper batting around toys at his feet, laughing a little when she audibly gets annoyed when one of them rolls out of her reach. He's so lost in the visuals before him that he barely notices how late it's gotten until he hears the penthouse door open, Max's heavy footsteps making their way through the hall.
Piper disappears out the door to greet him and Adam smiles, listening to Max greet her. He sounds tired and Adam pauses his game, looking up as Max finally appears in the doorway. "Hey," he greets him.
"Hey, baybay," Max mumbles, dropping his luggage against the wall and making his way over to the couch, dropping down with his head resting on Adam's lap. "Missed you."
Adam hums. Adjusts his hold on the controller to free a hand, resting it on Max's forehead, gently smoothing up through his curls. "Missed you too," he says, content to watch as Max breathes in time with the movement of his hand.
"I brought back some weird ass Mexican candy and snacks for you," Max sighs, squinting his eyes open and staring at Adam. "They're in my luggage, if you wanna go get 'em."
Adam hums, continuing to brush his fingers through Max's hair. "Nah," he says softly. "That's ok, I'm comfortable right here. I'll get 'em later."
Max smiles a little, tilting his face and nuzzling into Adam's stomach. "Well, I definitely won't complain," he says, closing his eyes and relaxing into Adam's comforting touch again.
"Me neither," Adam chuckles, trailing his fingers under Max's neck and gently lifting his head enough to press a kiss to his forehead. "Just rest. Champs need their sleep."
"Damn right," Max mumbles, sighing as tension leaves him. "Damn right."
Adam chuckles and quietly unpauses his game, returning to battling quietly as Max drifts off to sleep.
