Max lays on the carpet, enjoying a rare few days without travel before he has to fly out to Cardiff. Piper is batting around a cat toy, the bell inside seemingly driving her wild as she continues trying to figure out where the noise is coming from. Max chuckles as she lunges onto his chest, then tackles the ball again, her body rebounding off of his just heavy enough to make him 'oof'.
Adam's down the hall, playing in his streaming room, and Max is slowly starting to doze off in the sun warming the carpet, and he doesn't expect to see him for awhile... until the door slams open and Adam comes as quickly down the hall as he can, beaming down at Max. "Hey, Max, look what they finally uploaded!" he says, kneeling down next to him and pushing his phone into Max's hand.
Max hums and looks at him, curious. "What?" he asks, not eager to move from his ridiculously comfortable spot in the sunbeam.
Adam blinks down at him, then sprawls out next to him, holding the phone so he can see. "The video from All In last year!"
Max smiles slightly. "Yeah?" They were young then, things were so much lighthearted. Neither had experienced their injuries yet, and they were still happy and secure in their roles as tag champs and AEW champion. "Good times, huh?" he asks, staring at himself. A year younger, so much less tension and stress on his shoulders.
"Yeah," Adam says quietly. "They really were." He looks over and cups Max's jaw, drawing him over until they're eye to eye. "They will be again."
"I hope so," Max murmurs, sighing as Adam kisses him. He presses his forehead to Adam's and breathes, eyes closed.
"I know so," Adam hums. "C'mon, let's watch the rest of this thing. Damn, you picked the warmest part of the carpet, didn't you?"
"I'm comfortable," Max pouts until Adam kisses him again, nuzzling their noses together. "Who else is on this video? Anyone interesting?"
"Let's see," Adam says with a smile as they adjust, settling in to watch the rest of the video of what happened a year ago, the pivotal moment in their career that led them here.
