Amethyst let Pearl take Little Rose from her, she probably knew what to do with her better than Amethyst anyway. " Look. We can all see her. She's right there! She just can't reform because... she has this... baby around her. Rose, I know you're in there. I can let you out. We'll be... together... again."
Pearl's hand closed around the gem and in one swift motion pulled it free of the human child. It didn't look like Amethyst's gem. It was pointed on the other side. Hers was smooth on both sides, she assumed Rose's would be the same. The human started to cry, it was a weak sound, like a hurt animal. Pearl set it on the ground and turned her attention to the gem. "Rose, Rose come back. It's alright. You're free. You're free now." The gem glowed faintly.
"That's not Rose." Garnet said, her hands shaking.
Pearl's eyes barely flicked to her. "I know you won't trying to get trapped but it's okay Rose, Just reform. It's going to be okay."
Garnet exploded. Ruby and Sapphire hitting opposite sides of the van walls leaving dents. "Sapphire!" Ruby called holding a hand out to her.
"She lied to us! She lied about everything! That's not a rose quartz, Ruby! That's Pink Diamond!"
"I know, I'm Garnet too." Ruby said. "But calm down! We can figure this out!"
"Don't tell me to calm down! Don't act like you know anything Ruby! I'm supposed to know things! But I didn't know this! Because I never looked! What a fool I was." Sapphire opened the back of the van and flew away. Leaving the door open behind her.
Ruby stared after her in shock as Pearl continued to plead with the pink gem.
The baby had stopped crying, Amethyst walked over to her. Normally Sour Cream would be starting at the ceiling or sleeping. But it wasn't doing any of that, one time Sour Cream had been pale and breathing weird like the baby was now. Vidalia had freaked out and said he was sick and he had to get to a hospital. Amethyst had been left alone in the house before she knew what was happening … but now…she looked at the gem Pearl was now sobbing over. And wrenched it out of her hands. "Sorry. The baby needs this." She said, but Pearl barely seemed to have noticed.
"I've got you buddy." She picked up the baby and carefully lowered the gem back in "See, right as rain." She looked at Pearl crying inconsolably, Ruby staring in shock at the door "Please be okay."
Greg ran up a few minutes later being chased by a dog. He fell through the door Sapphire had left opened. "Ruby? What are you doing here? And where's Sapphire?"
Ruby started bawling.
"Amethyst! Give Steven back to me!"
"Here you go." She handed him back. "Sorry about all this." She rubbed her arm awkwardly. "I think he'll be okay."
Greg took him, and looked around at everyone, both Pearl and Ruby crying uncontrollably. "What…what's going on? What happened?"
"I don't really know. Garnet freaked out when Pearl removed Steven's gem."
"Pearl did what?" Greg yelled.
"It's fine! I put it back!" Amethyst reassured him.
But Greg got up. "I need to get out of here! I need to protect my son!"
"We didn't hurt him!" Amethyst yelled back. The baby was crying again. "Or, only a little!"
Greg hopped out of the van and ran off holding the baby.
Amethyst fell back. "Great. Just great! I still don't know why everyone is freaking out!"
Pearl spoke in a shuddering breath. "Yes, you do. Sapphire told you why."
"Because it's Pink Diamond's gem. How does that work?"
"I can explain. I can explain everything now." Pearl said and pushed herself into a sitting up position, whipping away her tears. "You deserve the truth. It doesn't matter anymore. She's gone. You see, I was given to Pink Diamond a few thousand years before she was given the Earth. I was supposed to make her happy, I just... never could…"
