"Greetings. I am Amondo, age-13." A little boy voice narrated. "It has taken over 11 months and 24 days for this wonderful holiday to arrive like always. All the decorations are up...and families and friends from around the world have gathered together to celebrate Christmas. It will be a very merry, joyous time for the rest of the world. But unfortunately...for the state of Michigan, there is another countdown that has also been taking place. This countdown has caused this story to be told by me. I hope you're up for it. But to understand how this all started...we have to go back to the beginning. The night of Day 1 of December...2024."

C1: The Vanished.
Detroit, Michigan
December 1st, (2024)
Snow rained down over the city of Detroit on the night of December 1st as it's citizens went about their daily routines, with many of them at home for a night to turn in and restart their day tomorrow. Founded in July 24th-1701, and incorporated September 13th-1806, Detroit was the largest city in the U.S. state of Michigan. It was also the largest U.S. city on the United States-Canada border and the seat of the government of the Wayne County. The city of Detroit had a population of 639, 111 at the 2020 census, making it the 27th most populous city in the United States. The metropolitan area, known as Metro Detroit, was home to 4.3 million people, making it the second largest in the Midwest after the Chicago metropolitan area, and the 14th-largest in the United States. Regarded as a major cultural center, Detroit is known for it's contributions music, art, architecture and design, in addition to it's historical automotive background. Time named Detroit as one of the fifth World Greatest Places of 2022 to explore.
Snow poured down over the Christmas decorated suburban neighborhood of Norville from the night sky. All of it's residences were in their homes either in bed or getting ready for it so they could begin the day of December 2nd tomorrow. It's population was that of 5,968 people.
...
Inside one of the homes, the Hewitt residence, 34-year old Lindella Hewitt--with shoulder-length black hair and brown eyes--was downstairs in the livingroom, putting up a few more ornaments on the Christmas tree. Once she was done with this, she would head upstairs and check on her son, Ryan, and his friend, Holly, and then turn in for the night herself.
...
Upstairs in his dark bedroom, 10-year old Ryan Hewitt laid sound asleep in his bed, with his friend, 9-year old Holly Ivan, sleeping on the floor in her pink sleeping-bag on the right side of the bed a few feet away.
Ryan had blond hair and wore a white long sleeve pajama shirt with sporting equipment designs on it.
Holly had blond hair that went past her shoulders and stopped at her upper-back, wearing a pale blue long sleeve pajama shirt with unicorn and cloud designs. The reason she was here at the Hewitt residence was because she was having a sleepover with Ryan that they had both been planning for over a week.
Meanwhile, outside the Hewitt home, the night sky turned a glowing gold/yellow, lighting up the whole sky of Detroit.
The gold/yellow light from outside shined from underneath Ryan's bedroom door for a few minutes before it disappeared.
...
A panicking Lindella rushed back downstairs into the living-room, got her cellphone off the coffee-table, dialed 9-1-1, and waited for someone to answer.

"We just confirmed reports from numberless people around Detroit that countless children have vanished in what some people are claiming to be a mass kidnapping by Human Traffickers. No one knows as to who or what might have caused the disappearances, but the police and FBI are on full scale alert." Said a male radio voice.
