Chapter 33: Hoppy Hopscotch Vs KickinChicken: Broken Hearts

Bobby was in her locker room after the duel, waiting for PickyPiggy to arrive.

"I hope she got the message…" She said as she then heard a knock, "Oh! Come in!"

PickyPiggy opened the door and closed it to meet with Bobby.

"Ya want me, Bobby?" She asked her, "How can I help ya?"

"Y-Yes… Here, sit down, because…" Bobby replied as she sat on the bench, blushing, "...it's… embarrassing…"

"Embarrassing?"

PickyPiggy chuckled as she sat next to her.

"Why do ya think what you're about to say is–" She said as she was interrupted,

"--I LOVE YOU!" Bobby shouted as she gasped and covered her mouth after realizing what she has said,

PickyPiggy blushed as she looked around.

"...Uhh… Could ya repeat what ya just said?" She asked,

Bobby let out a big sigh.

"...I'm sorry, I just got a little carried away." She replied, "But what I said was serious. …I have feelings for you, Picky, literally."

"Really?" PickyPiggy said,

"Really. I mean… As time goes by, and when we get older, you start to get all… protective and… tough."

"Ain't that DogDay and Hoppy?"

"Well, yeah, but you're different from them. They're always alive and full of energy. You're very… calm. …I actually do like someone very calm."

PickyPiggy chuckled a bit.

"Come on, Bobby…" She said, "This is getting too lovey-dovey around here."

"Sorry… sorry…" Bobby said,

"It's fine, ha ha… However, if what you're saying is true, then just know that I always look forward to trying new things throughout my life…"

"Huh? What are you talking–"

PickyPiggy then kissed Bobby on her face. She blushed ever so hard.

"Does that make ya better?" She asked Bobby,

Bobby then got up.

"I-I'm sorry, but I need a moment!" She shouted as she left the locker room,

PickyPiggy then laughed.

"I finally solved whatever problem she has!" She said, "...However that goes… Oh well, I got a girlfriend now and I'm happy!"

Hoppy meanwhile was chatting with DogDay.

"So this is it." DogDay said, "You'll be dueling… Kickin…"

"We were childhood buddies to a couple…" Hoppy said, "Using ourselves as a way of stirring up trouble during our time together…"

"Yeah, that was very unhealthy and toxic for your mental and emotional health. Coming from someone that was a victim of that sorta abuse."

Hoppy sighed.

"Well we abuse ourselves and each other without realizing." She said, "And now I'm not gonna let that happen again, because I need to do something about it when our duel comes."

"...And that is?" DogDay wondered,

"Win, damn it! I'm gonna knock his socks off! Watch!"

Hoppy then ran.

"Hey! Wait up!" DogDay shouted as he ran after Hoppy,

KickinChicken heard them chatting while being from another hallway and clenched his fists more.

"He's gonna regret it." He said, "After I am done winning this next duel…"

An announcement then went off.

"Will the next two duelists for the 2nd and last match of the Semi-Finals please report to the Dueling Field. The names are Hoppy Hopscotch and KickinChicken. I repeat, will Hoppy Hopscotch and KickinChicken please report to the Dueling Field."

KickinChicken then prepared himself.

"Alright, let's put an end to this." He said, "Whatever happens, I will win this duel."

Later out into the Dueling Field, RatedRat was about to announce the next duel.

"This is the 2nd to last duel of the tournament and the 2nd AND last duel of the Semi-Finals!" RatedRat said through a microphone, "Who will CatNap face in the Finals? Will it be KickinChicken or will it be Hoppy Hopscotch? Let's find out right now!"

Hoppy and KickinChicken then walked out to the opposite sides of the Dueling Field. They were silent as they looked at each other with serious looks, but Hoppy was also concerned.

"Look, Kickin…" Hoppy said,

"...Whatever it is you're about to tell me." KickinChicken said, "Save it until after the duel."

"...Fine, if you say so."

The two activated their Duel Disks and shouted, "Duel!" to start the Duel.

It was Turn 1. Hoppy was going first as she looked at her hand of cards. She then gasped as she saw a card that someone had given her.

Flashback to before the Semi-Finals.

Hoppy was straightening her long tie as DandyDragon came in.

"Hey. Congrats on going to the Semi-Finals." DandyDragon said,

"Thanks." Hoppy replied, "But…"

"Oh, you're about to duel KickinChicken, huh?"

"Yeah…"

"Hey, I think I know a card that could help you."

"Huh?"

DandyDragon then gives Hoppy one of her cards, "Dragunity Arma Gram"

"Arma Gram?" Hoppy said, surprised, "Why?"

"Because this is serious business you and Kickin are in, yeah?" DandyDragon wondered, "Give him a serious business shared by yours truly."

Hoppy smiled.

"Gotcha." She replied,

Flashback has ended as Hoppy sighed.

"Alright, this duel will be for you as well, Dandy…" She said, "I'm gonna win this duel, to make things right!"

Hoppy then played a Spell Card.

"I'll start my turn off by activating Foolish Burial!" She shouted, "This allows me to send a monster from my Deck to the Graveyard!"

Hoppy then sends Armed Dragon Thunder LV7 from her Deck to the Graveyard.

"And I'm gonna pedal to the metal and send Armed Dragon Thunder LV7 to the Graveyard!" She said,

"Wow, you're already bringing out your beast, huh?" KickinChicken wondered,

"Hush and let me finish!"

"Go ahead."

"This is where I activate another Spell Card of mine, Return Of The Dragon Lords!"

Hoppy then activates Return Of The Dragon Lords.

"This lets me Special Summon a Level 7 or 8 Dragon monster from my Graveyard!" She explained, "So I'll be Special Summoning back my Armed Dragon Thunder LV7!"

Armed Dragon Thunder LV7 was Special Summoned from the Graveyard in Attack Position with 2800 ATK Points.

"Now I activate Armed Dragon Thunder LV7's effect!" Hoppy said as she sent Tempest, Dragon Ruler of Storms from her hand to the Graveyard, "By sending a monster from my hand and sending this big guy from my field to the Graveyard, I can Special Summon a Level 10 Armed Dragon monster from my Hand or Deck!"

CatNap and Bubba meanwhile were watching from the locker rooms.

"She's gonna bring out her Armed Dragon Thunder LV10 already." Bubba said, "Guess luck has favored her in this duel."

"Of course… Let's hope we keep it that way." CatNap said,

"By the way, have you seen Bobby or Picky anywhere?"

"No? Last I checked, Bobby told me that she and Picky would meet alone."

"I guess that's where Bobby confessed her feelings to Picky, huh?"

"Seems likely…"

"Oh, Hoppy has brought out her dragon!"

Armed Dragon Thunder LV10 was Special Summoned in Attack Position with 3000 ATK Points. Hoppy then uses Armed Dragon Thunder LV7's effect to search for an Armed Dragon card from her Deck to her Hand when sent to the Graveyard to activate a Dragon monster's effect. KickinChicken smirked.

"You already brought him out." He said, "Cool."

Hoppy was concerned.

"Good lord, what's gotten into him?" She wondered, "I have a powerful monster, so I gotta end this turn now."

Hoppy then sets a card.

"I'll set a card and end my turn." She said, "...Your turn."

"Good! It's my turn!" KickinChicken said as he drew a card to Turn 2, looked at it and smiled, "It's already over for you, Hoppy."

"That can't be good."

KickinChicken then activates a Continuous Spell Card.

"I'll start my turn off by playing Black Whirlwind!" He said, "Whenever I Normal Summon a Blackwing monster, I can add a Blackwing monster from my Deck to my Hand with less ATK Points than that monster."

KickinChicken then Normal Summoned a monster.

"And I'll Normal Summon Bkackwing - Shura The Blue Flame in Attack Position!" He shouted,

Shura The Blue Flame was Normal Summoned in Attack Position with 1800 ATK Points.

"And since I Normal Summoned Shura, I'll use Black Whirlwind's effect to add a Blackwing monster from my Deck to my Hand with ATK Points less than Shura." KickinChicken said as he added a Tuner monster from his Deck to his Hand, "And that will be Vata - The Emblem of Wandering. And when I control another Blackwing monster, I can Special Summon Vata from my Hand!"

Vata was Special Summoned in Attack Position with 800 ATK Points.

"And when I control another Blackwing monster, I can Special Summon Bora The Spear in Attack Position as well!" KickinChicken said,

Bora The Spear was Special Summoned in Attack Position with 1700 ATK Points.

"He's gonna Synchro for 6?" CatNap wondered from the locker room, "Or for 10?"

"Don't know, but I have never seen a Blackwing monster like Vata before." Bubba replied,

"Me neither… What is Kickin gonna do?"

KickinChicken then smirked.

"Get ready, because I'm about to tune my Level 2 Vata The Emblem Of Wandering with my Level 4 Shura The Blue Flame!" He said,

"So he's Synchro Summoning for 6." Bubba said from the Locker Room, "Is it gonna be Blackwing Armed Wing?"

"But with that serious look, he's probably gonna Synchro Summon something else." CatNap replied,

A Synchro Summon between Level 2 tuner Vata The Emblem Of Wandering and Level 4 non-tuner Shura The Blue Flame has startes. KickinChicken then Synchro Summoned a new monster to the field.

"I Synchro Summon, the Level 6 Tuner monster, Blackwing - Boreastorm The Wicked Wind!" KickinChicken shouted,

Boreastorm The Wicked Wind was Synchro Summoned in Attack Position with 2400 ATK Points.

"A Tuner monster?" CatNap wondered from the locker rooms,

"He also has a Synchro Tuner Monster like Bobby, huh?" Bubba wondered, "Wherever this is going, Hoppy has to hang on."

Hoppy was still concerned.

"Kickin…" She said,

"What?" KickinChicken said, "What is it?"

"...What are you trying to do?"

"What am I trying to do? I'm Synchro Summoning a powerful monster to help me with this duel! And I'll do that right now by tuning my Level 6 Boreastorm with my Level 4 Bora!"

"Here it comes!" Bubba said, "He's Synchro Summoning for 10 for real!"

Another Synchro Summon has started between Level 6 tuner Boreastorm The Wicked Wind and Level 4 non-tuner Bora The Spear.

"Darken your wings to bring down a storm of a nasty assault!" KickinChicken chanted, "Synchro Summon!"

A dragon came down.

"Soar to dominance, Level 10, Black-Winged Assault Dragon!" KickinChicken shouted,

Black-Winged Assault Dragon was Synchro Summoned in Attack Position with 3200 ATK Points.

"I have a bad feeling about this monster!" Hoppy said, "So I'm gonna activate a Trap Card, Floodgate Trap Hole!"

Floodgate Trap Hole was activated.

"Woah, a different Trap Hole?" Bubba said from the locker room, "Did she just replace Royal Decree?"

"Seems likely." CatNap replied, "Will it work?"

"When you summon a monster, I can change that monster to face-down Defense Position, and you cannot change it back to Attack Position from Floodgate Trap Hole's effect." Hoppy said to KickinChicken,

KickinChicken laughed a bit.

"What's so funny?" Hoppy wondered,

"You just made a dumb mistake." KickinChicken said, "From my hand, I'll pay half of my Life Points to activate THIS Counter Trap Card!"

KickinChicken then played a Counter Trap Card from his hand by giving up half of his Life Points, leaving them down to 2000.

"Red Reboot!" He shouted, "When you activate a Trap Card, I can negate that Trap, set it and you gotta set another Trap directly from your Deck! And for the rest of this turn, you can't activate any other Traps!"

"What?!" Hoppy shouted,

"No way!" CatNap shouted,

"This is crazy!" Bubba shouted,

Floodgate Trap Hole was negated and set back down. Hoppy was shocked.

"W-Well…" She said, "Now I gotta set another Trap directly from my Deck, huh?"

"Yup, so get to it." KickinChicken replied,

Hoppy gulped as she set another Trap from her Deck, being Draining Shield.

"I'll save that for later." She said to herself, "When I get to activate Traps again."

KickinChicken then gave off a menacing smile.

"I'm not done yet, Hoppy." He said,

"Huh?" Hoppy said, "You're not done?"

"Of course. From my hand, I activate the Equip Spell Card, Premature Burial!"

Premature Burial was activated.

"By giving up 800 of my Life Points, I can Special Summon a monster from my Graveyard!" KickinChicken said as he gave up 800 of his Life Points, leaving him with only 1200 Life Points left, "And that will be Boreastorm The Wicked Wind!"

Boreastorm was Special Summoned from the Graveyard in Attack Position with 2400 ATK Points.

"And I forgot to tell you that Boreastorm had an effect where upon Synchro Summoning, I can send a Blackwing monster from my Deck to the Graveyard to equal its Level to the sent monster's Level, but I didn't want to."

"Why?" Hoppy wondered,

"Because I'm about to end this duel."

"Already?! I didn't even–"

"--I DON'T CARE! THIS DUEL WILL BE OVER!"

KickinChicken then activates another Equip Spell.

"I activate Snatch Steal!" He shouted, "This lets me take control of one of your monsters! So I'm taking your Armed Dragon Thunder LV10!"

Snatch Steal then forces Armed Dragon Thunder LV10 to be controlled and moved to KickinChicken's field.

"Oh… crap." Hoppy said, defeated,

"It's time to battle." KickinChicken said as the Battle Phase started, "Boreastorm will attack you first!"

Boreastorm then slashes Hoppy with its weapons, dealing 2400 points of damage to her.

DandyDragon meanwhile was watching from another locker room, sad.

"She didn't get a chance to play Arma Gram…" She said as she sighed, "Kickin… What have you become?"

Hoppy stood her ground as Black-Winged Assault Dragon stared down at her.

"Now, Black-Winged Assault Dragon will attack you directly to end this duel!" KickinChicken shouted, "Assault Feathered Storm!"

KickinChicken then used its wings to create a storm full of feathers to deal 3200 points of damage to her. Hoppy lost with 0 Life Points compared to KickinChicken's 1200. She was on the ground, defeated.

"Damn it…" She said, saddened, "God damn it!"

RatedRat was surprised.

"What a quick duel!" She shouted, "KickinChicken will be heading to the Finals to face CatNap!"

The audience cheered as KickinChicken sighed heavily.

"Damn…" He said as he looked at Hoppy and went over to her, "...Hey, are you–"

"--Don't talk to me!" Hoppy shouted as she turned to him with a look that scared him a bit,

"Woah! Hey! What was that for?!"

Hoppy sighed as she turned away.

"I'm sorry…" She said, "But something inside you has changed ever since I told you that all of this was a bad idea. The whole "being shitty towards our friends" plan…"

"I didn't know what to do!" KickinChicken said, "CraftyCorn's sacrifice screwed me!"

"Well you're not the only one! We all have feelings too! Me, Bubba, hell even CatNap and DogDay!"

KickinChicken was surprised when he heard DogDay's name.

"Hoppy…" He said, "Why is this…"

"I don't want to hear it." Hoppy said as she took a deep breath, "I don't want to hear from you at this time…"

"Wh-Hoppy, ha ha, what are you…"

Hoppy then looked back at KickinChicken with a disappointed and saddened look.

"...I think we should stop dating." She said, "I don't think I can do this anymore."

"Wh-What?!" KickinChicken shouted, "Y-You're breaking up with me?!"

"Yes… And… no… I want to isolate myself from you. You're not the KickinChicken I know throughout my life anymore… I'm sorry."

Hoppy then turns away and walks back inside. KickinChicken was left speechless as he looked at his feathers and clenched some sort of fists on them. He then grew angry in silence.

"DogDay, huh?" He said, "Is he more important than me? Ok… I'll show him how important he is…"

KickinChicken then walked towards the same direction as Hoppy went.

"You just made a big mistake, Hoppy." He said, "Now I'm coming for one of your "friends" and teaching them a lesson on messing in OUR league…"
