"Cut the shit, slacker!"
Yusuke ignored the raspy old hag. It had been two months since he had finally gotten an inkling of his spiritual energy. Two months since his death, his oh-so-stupid death.
He looked down at his red jacket thrown into a corner of the small shack. A small shack isolated in the middle of a stupid forest in some mountain range of a pointless no-nothing island country halfway across the world. And he was here for what? To stop some eighty-year-old grandma from teaching some spiritual bullshit to some stupid Yokai? He should be at home, he had a bonus ticket to see the marital arts championship, and yet he was tricked not just by his employers but also by someone who planned to make him stay there in the first place. At least he-
A force hit him like a sock full of concrete blocks. Wood splintered into the musky air, shredding his already thin yellow shirt and blue jeans.
"I see I got your attention now, slacker," the raspy voice yet firm made him growl in anger as he pulled himself off the floor, resting his hand on the cracked wall.
Across the room, an aged woman wearing some fancy fighting clothes, clothes that little-miss Fashionista would probably know about, stood with her hands behind her back.
"You are here to train," The woman said, "not to laze around like some jackass waiting for his mommy to pick him up from school. Now get your shit together, and get over here so we can begin!"
"Whatever you say, you old hag." Yusuke took a step forward. Then another. Until he noticed he was looking down at the pinkish-gray-haired woman. Their eyes met, cyan to brown. The light of this index finger glows into a cyan light charging over the floor. "I'm tired to play this, I'm getting out of here."
"Oh? So the little boy thinks he has all the power in the world just because he can do a simple neat little trick?" The old woman raised her finger, drawing a light similar to what Yusuke had been doing. "Since you're so in love with this little beginner's technique, you're going to get intimate with it."
Yusuke watched as the wrinkled lips curled upwards into a condescending smile.
The bad boy inwardly cringed, and a bead of sweat fell across his left cheek and onto the old floor. The woman brought to her a wooden base with a big needle stuffed in the middle.
"The goal of this exercise is simple spirit energy and balance on top of that. And you won't stop until I say 'stop'. Do I make myself clear, slacker?" The master grumpily said as she stared at the boy who seemed to gulp in his place.
Making him nod looked at the needle. The master walked a few steps away and waited for the slacker who didn't have any more options to do.
"You are going to leave when I say you will leave. And there are just 2 ways of leaving here. By finishing your training, or dying." The grump master turned her back to the boy who seemed to look away and curse himself.
"Dammit, I shouldn't have come to this mission. Koenma, Botam, you are going to pay expensively for this mission. And Rando… I will beat your ass for making me pass all this hell." Yusuke Urameshi could see the smug faces of what would be the 2 people who brought him back from the spirit world and the innocent boy who made him fall for one simple path that led to this torture. "If I knew this was his plan I would have made Kuwabara take this weight. Now I have to deal with this pineapple."
"Achooo." a boy sneezed moving his head in the opposite direction of the meal he was having in the ramen shop. Using his index finger, he scratched under the nose trying to imagine the reason for why sudden sneeze.
"Oh, someone must have been talking about you." A mature voice came from the balcony which made the boy turn his head and see a grown-up man in his almost in his 40s, cooking his signature dishes with the utmost care.
"Well, if this is the case, I know who must be, he probably will be cursing my name for hours." The boy shrugged without even trying to imagine how terrible must be in the middle of the vacation someone must be training against his will. "Anyway, it's his problem, not mine that I'm smarter than him. He should have known better than to not provoke me."
"Is there a story I should know?" The cook asked if the response of his client was just a wave from his hand.
"Nah, I don't think you know him anyway. But thank you for the food anyway. How much for it?" The boy got up from his seat, wearing a purple T-shirt, white shorts, and messed white hair.
"1300 yens." The owner said turning his back to his kitchen and cooking another meal for his clients.
"Okay, keep with the change." The boy managed to place over the balcony 200 yens more than he ordered.
"Thank you and be back when you get hungry again." The man smiled as he saw the boy leaving the ramen shop without further delay.
After walking outside of the ramen stand, the boy messed his hair in satisfaction of another day of survival.
"I can't believe it has already been an entire week since we did the trials to become Genkai's disciple. It must be something related to the pace of the world around here. Time flies quickly. And I'm still getting used to this body." The boy passed through the locals of the city, as he tried his best to maintain his character, even by passing through many teenagers around.
"THERE YOU ARE." Suddenly a shout came from a few streets away from the kid, which made him glance at his back, seeing someone he could imagine that should have been resting in his own house. "Now you cannot escape from me, Rando."
Looking at the boy who could be almost 3 palms higher than him, he saw a boy wearing a blue school uniform, with his iconic orange hairstyle which many still call it iconic bad boy look, even if his entire face was wrapped by bandages.
"Man, his voice it's still difficult to get used to it." The kid said as he walked at the teenager who seemed so angry to him. "Hello for you too, Kuwabara. What's up?"
"What's up? I came here to challenge you once again to a fight, I'm stronger than the last time and I know that I can hurt you this time." Kuwabara even if he was hurt after the beaten of dozen times, the kid had to give to the boy, Kuwabara's persistence is what makes him one of the most loved characters. "I'm going to show you what a man can do."
"Seriously Kuwabara? You got a beating yesterday, and the day before that, and the day prior, and before that… I know Master Genkai had made a good recovery from the first beating up I gave you, but now you sound ridiculous. Are you missing Yusuke that much?" The boy by the name Rando sighed as he glanced at the teenager who seemed to be covered in bandages and hurt as if he didn't have any rest.
Kuwabara blushed, trying to avoid the gaze of the little boy who seemed with both his hands in his pockets. That same kid was a freaking monster, if Yusuke wasn't there, he could have sworn the kid was his reincarnation because of the way he beats him, and it made him even more annoyed.
"That doesn't matter. I'm going to kick your ass, and there is no way that you are going to defeat me. Here I come." Kuwabara didn't even try to argue but ran in the direction of the boy who seemed to be relaxed into seeing the bandaged teenager going in his direction. He simply gave 2 steps back and turned his body to the left while Kuwabara tried to punch him.
Rando watched Kuwabara using too much force into his punch by making his own body fall in the direction of the floor. And using the opportunity in front of him, he used his knee to hit directly on the delinquent face and spinning his body he used his other leg to give a roundhouse kick connecting to Kuwabara's face, and using enough strength to launch the blue uniform boy fly away in a few meters.
The kid watched the comic character of one of his favorite animations comically go away as becoming a punching bag to him the same way as he was to Yusuke Urameshi.
"Well… It seems that you still have a lot to learn, but I can see that you are getting more resilient, also shouldn't you be going to the Martial Art Tournament?" Rando asked as the boy suddenly got up in panic.
"Oh crap, the tournament, I cannot waste the ticket," Kuwabara jumped as he even got beat up, he immediately excused himself, and left the whole crowd staring at him in disbelief. "I'm going to have my rematch tomorrow."
Rando simply stared at the silluet of the delinquent before sighing with a smile on his face.
"Just you Kuwabara…" Sighing to himself, he decided to ignore the stares of the public watching them, and quickly left the place. A few alleys away from the public, the white-haired boy looked around him to see if he was being watched by someone.
Seeing that nobody has followed him was enough to make him feel comfortable to touch the wall… Touching the wall itself created an ominous aura of darkness which resembled a dark circle expanding on the white-blue liner around it, forming what would be a portal for him.
Rando took a final glance around the alley before jumping into the darkness without thinking twice.
The moment he got inside he stepped outside which was nothing more than a white room, somewhere he took from his pocket a skull-craved key and after leaving the portal, he used the key to close instantly.
"Well, at least it's good to know that he was still stubborn as always." The boy who looked exactly like a human suddenly felt his feature changes, his entire face changed as the simple clean skin he had exchanged for a more pale version of itself, as his face showed a big blue spider tattoo on his face. His short white hair suddenly grew bigger as it showed a red color.
His entire body grew a few inches taller while his body felt uncomfortable with his tiny purple shirt. So he decided to take it away. Still, his height wasn't something he was proud of it was 5'10 which would be normal for most people, but for himself, he still always felt sore over that height… it always had been something that he hated when the others brought up to him, but he always tried to control the anger inside of him, but sadly the anger would become sadism and he would make sure the people would suffer from telling how short he was...
Using his key on the door in front of him, showed nothing more than 3 other doors, each door going to a different level of the place he lives. 32 levels with a random number of rooms each.
Looking at the corner, Rando could see the number 14 on it, which made him open the third door at the left, revealing a bedroom filled with nothing more than clothes, a bed, a bathroom, and a shelter of books, martial arts teaching books.
"Well, this will take a few months actually to deal with this problem, probably after Yusuke finishes his first part of the training with Genkai. Man, while I have to say that was a wasted opportunity. I know that it would be the best for him to get stronger like his father." The red-haired Yokai said as he walked towards one of his books. "I have a lot to think… man, how did I just get on this mess in the first place?"
The boy sat on the bed and left his mind wandering away, as he still remembered like it was the first time he got into that world.
"So that's it? Anything else to say?" Miguel's voice wavered, thick with desperation and sorrow. He stood by the hospital bed, his eyes red and puffy from sleepless nights and relentless tears. His older brother, a man of 35 with short black hair, lay frail and subdued, his once vibrant presence now dimmed by illness.
"What do you expect me to say? This will be a risky surgery, and I just want to tell you. It's not your fault." The older brother's voice was weak but calm, his attempt at a serene smile failing to mask the gravity of his situation.
Miguel's heart ached. "Why are you being so pessimistic? I know you're stronger than this," he implored, his anger giving way to a deep sense of helplessness. He grasped his brother's hand, the only person who had stood by him through every hardship, the only family he had left apart from his own wife and kids.
"We've been through so much together. It was always just us against the world. When everyone else turned their backs, you were the one who stayed. I can't lose you now," Miguel's voice cracked as he fought to hold back tears. He remembered how their bond had been forged in the fires of adversity. They had been each other's rock, their mutual support the only constant in their lives.
"Miguel, stop…" His brother's voice was barely a whisper now. "I know you want to have hope, but I'm so tired. Maybe it's for the best. You have a wife and kids now. They need you. My time has come. Please focus on what matters—your family. Not me. I'm just going to join Helena. Let me be with her."
"No, don't give up so easily," Miguel pleaded, his hands gripping his brother's with an intensity born of sheer desperation. "Think about your nephews. Think about me. I need you here. You can't just… leave."
The older brother's eyes, heavy with resignation, remained closed as he was wheeled away for the surgery. Miguel's anguished cries filled the room, the only sound in the cold, sterile silence. He felt the crushing weight of his brother's choice, a burden too heavy for one man to bear alone.
In that moment, Miguel was left with a profound sense of loss and the knowledge that the one person who had always been his anchor was slipping away. The bond they shared, the only constant in their tumultuous lives, was now a painful reminder of what he was about to lose.
**...
Beep...beep…beeeeeeeeeep...zzzzz.**
The darkest embrace of the void filled the eyes of the same person who was waiting for his final rest. And the wish to see the love of his life once again. But as the sound of the beeps finished, he just opened his eyes but into a different place.
"Ugh… where am I, why I'm not in the hospital room?" The voice of the child combined with a deep voice was enough to make the same person open his eyes in shock. "What the hell happened to my voice?"
The boy suddenly got up from his place and looked at what would be dozens of books and a red demonic circle over the room. The white room was covered with dozens of papers and possibly even blood or something filled with purple and dark green goo around. And yet the place showed marks of burning papers and scorch marks around the circle and a huge crack in the floor.
"What the… is this some kind of bizarre dream? Maybe the anesthesia was still in effect." The boy was ready to leave when suddenly he felt his mind getting heavier and the headache was becoming too much for him. "Ughhhhh."
("So after I complete this ritual, I will be able to bring the souls of immortals and combine with mine to make me capable of having immortality. I wouldn't ever die as long I kept using this ritual and capturing the souls of mortals." The same deep voice of the kid was heard but this time it showed the direct face of the person who said it, it wasn't a boy, nor a man, but it was a humanoid demon who had a spider mark on his face, the red hair, and the menacing smile.
"Now, I just need one drop of my own blood. And recite the sacred words. Goki ochi, orochi, mony, tsu chi, makuni, tso...tso...oh dammit, I messed up." The eyes glancing over the red circle reacting to the words of his voice, and the sudden lack of the right words made him unable to finish the spell, and the crack over the spell was enough to make the entire circle crack, and react poorly to his mistake. "It's going to explode…
The sudden wall of fire was the last thing he remembered before opening his eyes once again.)
"So that's how it is… I somehow got stuck with this body… I don't know why, but this face looks familiar to me." The demonic boy went ahead to the bathroom and stared directly at a mirror created in the unknown room. Examining his entire face, and trying to remember who this person was. "Rando, this person is so familiar to me, but… I don't know why."
The person sighed as he walked into the damaged room, and seeing another door, he decided to go away from the same destroyed room and tried to find a way out of there.
Minutes or even hours passed as the palled person tried to find a way out of the place, and by opening doors, each of them was a symbol of what would be, experiments, libraries, aquariums filled with fishes far beyond nightmares, every single room was something the person tried to imagine what would be.
"THIS PLACE IS A LABYRINTH, HOW THE HELL AM I GOING TO LEAVE THIS PLACE?" The man was tired of walking around room by room and was feeling the despair appearing in his own heart. "I WANT TO BE OUT, LET ME OUT."
The sudden cry from the demonic person was enough to show how deep despair he was feeling at that moment, but suddenly over his shout, he noticed a circle opening in front of him. Seeing as his chance of escape. He jumped right away from that place.
The fresh air of a forest was enough to make the despaired man, relieved to find an open space for once, and now, since he was in a forest, he actually felt a bit more freedom than in a secluded area.
"Okay, I don't know what happened, but I think this is the best I can get. But now, I need to think about what to do. I was in the middle of surgery, and now I'm in the body of someone I must have seen somewhere. Now I don't know what to do. What to do? What to do?" He sat on the grass as he tried to reflect most of his thoughts, and possibly to try to achieve parts of the memories. "Maybe if I meditate and focus on recovering my memories, it will be enough for me to have a direction."
Knowing that he wouldn't have another thing to do, he closed his eyes and tried to find something inside of his mind to help him unlock some info to help him at that moment.
"Concentrate, reflect your mind, you were in the middle of surgery, Rando wanted souls to help him to achieve immortality, this would have been a demonic experiment… clear your mind, and try to find the reason behind that, and who he is. Rando, Rando...Rando…" The man tried to think hard, as his own mind showed memories, but not the memories from the person who changed his soul, but something far behind that, of the time he watched an anime with his younger brother. An anime about a dead high school boy who earned his chance of resurrection to be a detective of the spiritual world and one of his missions was to defeat… "Rando the skill thief of 99 masters."
The palled body, the blue spider tattoo on the face, the same red long hair, and a smile show nothing more than what would be one of the first antagonists and one who just lost because of the luck of the main character.
"Yu Yu Hakusho. I'm on Yu Yu Hakusho… how?" The man said in disbelief as he tried to find suitable words to describe the strange fact happening to him. "This must be a dream or a nightmare. There is no way this is real."
The man laughed at his own disbelief and tried to pinch himself to see if he could awake...But the moment he did it, he suddenly felt the discomfort of the pinch on his arm...Making his eyes open wide from knowing the harsh truth of what happened.
"That's not fair… I wanted to see Helena, and now I'm just dragged into another world without my consent. Rando you bastard, you did this to me." The anger in his voice was his irises showing nothing more than pure anger of seeing his desire to go to the afterlife and see the person he loved most away from him. And now he couldn't even call his own brother for help, since he wasn't sure cellphones would work across dimensions.
The shock became anger, and his anger became sadness, as the cycle of knowing of never going to see the person he loved ever again.
"I just hope Miguel would take the news of my departure well. He needs to live his life with his wife and kids, it was far too late for me…" The man decided to get up from his place and start to walk once again. "Now what I'm going to do? I don't know where or even when I am. Is this after the last tournament of hell? Or is this even before the first episode? What I am going to do if humans see me like that? Well I think is best I create an ID with my name...wait… WHAT IS MY NAME AGAIN?"
Suddenly panic fell around his mind, the person who had been transferred into another body, forgot completely his own name.
"That's not possible, I know the name of my brother, Miguel Robert Cooper. Oh yeah, his wife made him change his name since he would help them to the will of his father-in-law to help raise the kids… but what about Helena? Her last name changed because of me… and her last name…"The demon who passed the time processing his own mind, his face started to sweat as he discovered one undeniable fact. "DAMMIT, I DON'T EVEN REMEMBER THE LAST NAME OF MY DECEASED WIFE? WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH ME?"
"Rando mistake must have brought my own soul and made my entire identity change, almost making me forget my own identity… What could have happened if he completed that?" Unaware of his surroundings it didn't take long as he walked around the forest and with each minute passing he was bringing the attention of wild animals and possibly some creatures interested to see the new prey walking on their territory.
He stopped walking, looking around and seeing the group of creatures approaching him.
"It seems that nobody wants to give me a rest, man, this isn't my day. Okay, I have had a terrible day so far, I was just having my surgery and then I got stuck into this body and I even forgot my own name. I really, really want to have a moment of rest...SO PISS OFF." The man shouted as his own eyes glowered in red, making all the wild animals stop in their tracks, and then turn away and run with their tails between their legs. "Thank you."
The walk over the forest became smoother from that, the man felt his instincts giving the direction which made him avoid many inconvenient things which he didn't even know.
The more he stepped around the forest, the more tranquil he felt inside his heart, since the time he was trying to process his personal sense of direction. Dealing with simple facts.
"So I'm not human anymore, neither remember my name...well, I think I got in a situation a bit worse than Kurama… at least he remember both his names. Man if Helena saw me now she would have been laughing at me." The demon walked towards the lake or the dirty green water over the forest, and by seeing his reflection she could see clearly the reflection of one character of who he was. "Yep, this is your fault Rando… well, I think since you caused this, and you even made me forget my name, then I'm going to take yours."
By admitting his new identity, one of the anxieties of his own heart seemed to be extinguished, and a new level of calmness appeared in his semblance. Rando glanced at his reflex and touched the features of his face.
"Yep, it seems that I should be here for a while, or try to find a way to disguise myself… wait, Rando didn't actually disguise himself when he was trying to be Genkai's student? That's it, this would help me to be near the humans without getting attention."Rando once again felt his own body get relaxed, it seemed that his own body and mind felt more prepared to go back to the place he came from.
Having collected his thoughts, Rando finally felt that nature helped him in his time of need once again. And admiring for the last time the demon stared at his front with a new thought on his mind.
"Okay, I'm glad that the panic stopped, but now that I need to go back to that place, I just need to think, how the hell I can go back there?" Rando remained in silence as he tried to rethink everything that happened at the moment he was in the room.
Thinking about the labyrinth and when he was feeling in panic, he just wished to find a way back and a portal opened in front of him.
"Maybe the reason it worked was because I was determined to leave, using my concentration and focusing was the reason that it made happen, I don't know if that's how I got here, but I think it's best if I just try," Rando concluded, and by remaining immobile. He touched the ground, and remained in that same place for minutes, even sweating on his own face, he was thankful that nobody was nearby him. And after dozens of minutes passing, he was almost losing hope, until he could see a dark little circle opening over the floor and expanding, which was enough for him to pass. "Phew, I'm so glad it worked, I was worried that I would have to give up until I got stronger. Now let's see what is inside."
At that moment the group of the animals watched the palled demon just glance at them one more time, before going inside what would be the only place that he knew he had control over.
At the time he got inside the dimensional room, he saw himself across the same rooms over again, a white room, which was isolated by each one, and the only connection between them were simply doors near each other.
"Well, I think this is my home…" Rando walked across the rooms until he decided to get inside of a bathroom which he couldn't help but appreciate the yokai had at least the decency of having a shower inside of whatever he created. "I needed a shower so bad...Maybe I can try to think of a plan while I'm in the shower. Or try to find answers around the books in this library. Any progress would be good progress."
And hoping for the best to find the exchange appearance technique the quickest as possible, since he would be dammed if any person with decency would start to judge him from the freaking spider tattoo on his face.
Luckily for him, it only took 2 hours between the notes and books across the library, since… it had been something the man couldn't help but be impressed. For whatever freaky reasons the cannon version of Rando was so much narcissistic that he wrote down all the experiments he did with subjects, animals, humans, and anyone who dared to fight against him. Some of them were his former masters, but he didn't care, he was sadistic and narcissistic enough to only care about collecting techniques and reaching the immortal life. Coincidentally his younger brother always called him out for the times he became cruel to the others when they decided to talk about something he hated, like being very petty and ridiculous in the way he was taking revenge.
"It's not my fault his boss decided to scam him and force him to overwork so much for a thing that he had no responsibility, I don't care if I had to take down the whole company of 1850, he not only humiliated my young brother but also decided to make fun of my height, it was personal. So I hope his ex had taken everything from that jerk." Rando commented as he gave a sadistic giggle, but then composed himself, and after giving a good look on the mirror, he noticed something very interesting about his reflection.
"Wow, he is an Orochimaru wanna-be… Wait, Yu Yu Hakusho was way before Naruto… So that means, Orochimaru was a Rando wanna-be… Okay, that makes way more sense, since Sasuke was inspired by Hiei." Rando mused as he then reflected on himself as he looked in the mirror while reading the book. "Actually looking at the spider tattoo… And from being a creation of Togashi, this spider was the symbol of Genei Ryodan… And Kuroro Lucifer himself had exactly the same background of being a skilled thief but with a better style and even a more balanced way to use nen."
Rando mused, as he looked at the book in his hand, the notes about the characteristics of the transformation he could have, by creating a cocoon of appearance he wanted anything he could do to exchange his appearance, however, he couldn't make himself taller, only smaller. Which was terrible because he hated to be called short since his past life. To say 5'10 was tall would be an underestimating, However, it took him a lot of years and sacrifices to make him 6'2. Since he always hated being called short by whoever wanted to make his life unfair.
"Ughh… even in this life, I'm still a good joke to being called short target." The yokai/human commented as he gave a slight glance at the anatomy of the book, and with a small concentration, he could see the trace of the spiritual energy created on the tip of his fingers. "Wow, it was like something I saw in the anime before, similar to Nen, which was very cool… Okay, now let's see if I can clean up my face."
Rando slowly pressed the energy across his face, and he felt his face being malleable, as he even passed across his eyes, and slowly he opened his eyes. And was very surprised to see it.
He looked palled, but now his eyes looked in deep blue color, and the side of his body was smaller. An idea crossed his mind. Using the tip of his fingers, he decided to place it across the entire hair, which was enough to make it from the scarlet color to a clean white hair, making it even shorter and messed. Just like a character, he knew very well that he would fit in that world.
"Wow, I look exactly like Killua," Rando commented as he looked at his reflection, and then nodded his head in happiness. "At least now I can walk towards the public without bringing too much attention. And even as much I would hate to admit, I have his height as well… Dammit, I hate being short."
"Okay, I have no idea how much water have in this place, and I hope I don't get water bills from using the hot shower, but at least I can think of something." The demonic person sat as he was cleaning his face with the towel, wearing what would be blue Xiaolin clothing that he had an impression would be the one he used on the episode of the spiritual detective arc, he just ignored, it and walked towards one of the restrooms he had. He finally found one place which would have some food on it… Or what would look like food? "Okay? There is a green heart on there, a fish with 5 eyes, a potato with a face on it… Yeah, I don't think I want to eat that… And now I'm kinda craving for a pizza on this right now."
People would say beggars couldn't be choosers, but from seeing that kind of food? He was thinking of launching everything into the trash can and trying to find anything that would be edible for him. And now that he still had his appearance of Killua, it would be easier for him to blend among the humans since they usually don't have spiritual energy.
"But if I use the portal again, wouldn't I land in the forest like the last time?" Rando asked, as he then saw something tingling on his wrist, which made him look at something and he realized that it wasn't there anymore. "Wait, is that a key?"
Rando blinked, as he then looked at one of the doors, now that he seemed different than the others.
"Well, huh, maybe this one could make me go directly on the human civilization. I at least have to try." And with that the time he opened the door, he saw a black void opening in front of him, and differently than before, he felt more comfortable, as he crossed it without thinking twice.
Days had passed in a flash, as the man had read some of the notes of the gruesome experiments created of his former self, and how many victims had died on his hand, many of them probably being lesser Yokais and demons showing that nobody cared on the Makai world, where hell was only a layer of how they don't care if they die or not.
And from 99 techniques, memorizing every single one of them was something Rando had to keep beating his head on the wall. While the body and the mind of the former version of himself were not only freaking rare of potential into learning and copy the techniques fast. It was still way difficult to decide which ones to use at that time or situation. It was a nightmare. Looking towards the vast notes, and journals, he was so narcissistic that he bragged about how easy the techniques he learned were and even detailed what he used to kill the former user master. It was sickening, and Rando had to make sure to rip off the page and burn, it but also make a more clear version of it. Since he didn't want to be sick from reading it… He is sad, but the former version of himself was more like a psychopath.
But from reading the notes and journals, and from writing down some of the said theories, techniques, and how diverse his skills were, it had been a headache because of one single reason.
"If Rando had watched Bruce Lee, or learned his quotes, he wouldn't have created such a mess. Don't fear the man who knows 1,000 techniques. But fear the man that has practiced one technique 1,000 times." Rando commented as he was enjoying a good coffee in a restaurant from the human world while he was still copying the journal to another one, courtesy of the money he pickpocket from the mortals, which was good enough for the coffee and for what he was writing. And possibly burning down the former book, while he concentrates on learning more about the one he is coping for himself. "Dammit, this had been the third book, and there were hundreds of them to copy… dozens from the same technique, and even I had to read the notes and try to simplify for me as well…"
Knowing the world of Yokais or Hell as many would call it, it's difficult to understand since their culture or the way Togashi had written was very hard to understand. So he preferred to remain visiting the world of the living and be disguised while he took a few wallets to have enough money to think of a plan.
He wasn't sure which arc the human world was on that moment, if Yusuke was on the school or died, or if they were on the events of the Dark Tournament.
Since from what he gathered… The three kings were still the same. And Raizen was still alive and he couldn't help but remember the loud roaring of the hunger that man had. It was like the whole hell could hear him having hunger.
"Say whatever you want about him, but you can never say that he wasn't the husband material, that guy made a vote of himself to never eat again just for love…" Rando had to admit, that he as a widowed man, did some stupid things for love because of his wife, but after meeting her, he didn't decide to lose his habit of eating what he loved to eat. And yet the ancestor of the main character of the whole franchise was badass in any kind of saying and action. It wasn't a surprise that he was named one of the three kings. And then he caught himself staring at his coffee too much. "Okay, I think I need to stop doing that. Getting sidetracked by my thoughts is very annoying."
"Is everything alright sir?" Then the waitress who gave a slight bow, made the man in the body of the boy blink. As he composed himself again.
"Ah, yes. I'm just glad of this service again, can I have another cup of coffee?" Rando coughed on his fist, while the waitress giggled on his reaction.
"Right away sir." The girl had left, and Rando was glad to have recovered his compose and looked at the cake in front of him.
"Usually I'm not a cake guy, but gotta say that it was better than anything in that room." The yokai disguised as a human commented as he ate the slice and developed plans for his future.
"I can't believe that we are going to be visiting Master Genkai." Then a voice was enough to be heard, and from the time he heard the familiar name, the white-haired boy gave a slight turn to see what would be 5 men enjoying a conversation and drinking coffee as well. " I took 3 days of journey at the time I heard that she was accepting to train a disciple."
"Ha ha ha. I heard from a trustful information one week, so I crossed the whole of Japan just to appear to be trained by her." A person who seemed to be triple of their size commented as he seemed a person of 30 years old, but older because of his black beard and bald head. He seemed to be a sort of samurai, but from what Rando learned inside his rooms… Didn't possess a significant spiritual energy. Or whatever would be the shiver on his spine.
"Well, at least we know that in a few days, it's going to be her challenge to come to decide which person should be her disciple." A person who Rando could have imagined that looks exactly like Zangief commented, but it didn't seem to matter now.
Because one important information just happened to be in front of him.
"Master Genkai is taking a disciple?" Rando mused as he gave a glance at the strawberry in front of him. "So I'm not far away from the actual episode of the spirit detective arc."
And with a glance from the waitress approaching him with a cup of coffee… Rando gave a good smile on his face.
"Well, it seems that I have nothing better to do than enjoy the new life I have now…" The boy commented as he gave a glance at the group of the spiritual user's wannabe, and then gave a glance on the window outside. "Maybe I can make my life part of that circle. And enjoy my new life to the fullest."
Rando had to pass hours trying to find which would be a good arsenal of techniques he should try to remember on what kind of challenges he would cross, from looking at the copies of the books he did for himself to get more used to it. Even coping a martial art style of combat for himself and even drawing it. It had been a drag to do everything. He was trying to find a good versatile skill list for himself… But after a good time wondering, he just facepalmed his head very hard.
"I'm on the first arc of the anime, and Kuwabara didn't create Rei Ken yet, and Yusuke could only use his Rei Gan only once per day, or 3 at maximum depending on my luck… Why am I scared of them?" Rando commented as he gave a look at the arsenal of techniques he had… "This is a mess, and now that I'm stuck just like that. Maybe I really should ask Genkai for advice. Something to help me to sort it out something from this… But only after I get my 100th technique, I don't know why, but I think I can have one more just to accomplish the total, and then I figure out what to do next. Since there are all these notes, possibly a few memories from the past of Rando, but they are very vague, so I need to find a way to relearn everything, especially from what I gathered from his journal."
Even though he was in the other body, it seems that not just the former version but the new version of himself was interested in just getting one more skill before the development of what he knows.
"But at least I need to know the basics… something to do with my spiritual energy," Rando commented as he had a few thoughts about what to do… Into thinking about what would be the best way to create the basics of spiritual energy for himself. He looked at a few notes, and by looking for so long, he felt more and more complicated scrambles of whatever it was… "These notes are pointless… they were just notes and books about his sadistic killings and experiments of pain he gave to his enemies. I mean… I learned a few techniques with it. But still, I feel that he doesn't even know the basics… Oh come on Togashi, you could have at least given a well-explained version of powers like you do with nen...Nen… NEN!"
Rando commented as he looked at one of a few notes. This showed a good version of what he described as him suppressing his spiritual energy while looking himself almost invisible in front of his victims, and while he also used spiritual energy to create an intimidation factor, and some he used as armor to protect his body towards demons who he felt threatened but it was very weak to even considered a skill and how he killed the master of that technique for being so easy to break it…
"Ten, Zestu, Ren, Hatsu (without the deep explanation of types of nen), In, Ken, Gyo." The notes didn't lie, as he could see the skill thief didn't even realize something that was in front of him all the time. "It's so much strange… He found people who had these techniques but separately like they didn't know the others having the same skill as him. So basically they didn't develop whole new training. What the hell?"
Rando passed a few minutes and let it sink, something like that would have been the most basic of the skills of a professional hunter… but then another thing crossed his mind.
"Oh… hunter x hunter didn't exist yet, so that's probably the explanation of why they didn't learn from each other, possibly because these techniques were from separated martial artists, not knowing that with these… it would create one of the best and well-developed concepts of power levels ever made, created and with their own rules to follow." He had everything of the basics of the Nen and yet he trashed them away like just any other technique… "Genkai was right, he is an idiot. He could have combined these and created Ko, Shu and if he had trained with all the concepts of nen he could have developed everything he needed to become an S-level Yokai."
Rando commented as he thought about possibilities. And yet he couldn't help but also think about the downsides of it.
"How much it would take to master everything of these skills? Rando may be known for learning fast and coping with the technique with an eye and even taking for himself to kill others with it… But… If I start from the zero, how long it would take me to make me strong enough to be on Gon's and Kilua's level on the Chimera Ant's arc?" Rando commented as he sat with himself to monologue. But then slapped on his head. "Okay, I think I need friends because this room is driving me mad. I will just take it on what I learned from now. I know that it will probably be the shot in my foot if I use the Shrinking Curse, but if it works it's going to be hilarious. But I doubt I will be able to remember everything, maybe I should focus on what would be the best for me, something more simple… He didn't need to be S rank right away, he needed to have time… So maybe the only way he could do it…
"I think if I focus on the new training, and also learning something which would fit for my new appearance… Maybe that would work for me… I mean, I'm looking almost like Kilua, so I should probably find what would fit him the best." Rando concluded, that he doesn't need to be overpowered because he isn't. He is still a level C demon, and Toguro would eat him for breakfast, so what he needs to think is… "I need to find a better place to train, but sadly this is the only place I have. But I shouldn't rush, time is on my side now. And I know who will be going to win the trials."
Rando came to a decision. It's going to be an interesting time for him in the future.
