In case you don't know- it has been 7 weeks since has been giving me 0 stats because of some errors. I've been reading stories as to how people have been unable to read fanfiction stories and seeing as my chapters have been given 0 views because of this error, I don't know if anyone in my audience is having that issue as well. I want to be sure that people are reading this story, and it helps my motivation- so I'm asking you guys to give me a sign that you're reading and you're able to see my chapters. Chapter 44: Striving to be Cool

Kai crossed his arms, watching the crowd of Team Star members using Terafusion one by one. Several pillars of light rose one by one like rows of erupting volcanos. None of the Team Star members' Pokémon remained- and all that was left was their tera-fused forms.

With an intense battle cry from one of the grunts, they all started charging after Kai. There were so many of them that a cloud of dust trailed behind them all, and Kai couldn't help but grin. As they stampeded his way, Kai took in a deep breath, went on his hands and one knee as though he were an olympic racer preparing to sprint.

"Time to show my new tricks." Kai muttered.

Electricity raged out from his body like it was a lightning rod.

Kai's eyes shone blue before he darted like a lightning arrow, moving much faster than the opponents coming his way. A trail of thunder followed the Kai's movements as he rushed and slammed his rising knee onto the first grunt he met with. As Kai and the unlucky grunt rose into the air high above the rest of the crowd, Kai flipped after pulling his knee and kicked the grunt down like a soccer ball, sending him crashing into the ground with an electric explosion that sent some grunts flying like bowling pins.

Using his immense speed, Kai darted toward the ground and zipped back and forth, striking down some of the remaining Grunts without them even being able to react. Penny, Clive and Atticus's eyes all moved back and forth again and again to keep up with Kai.

Time slowed down for one of the female grunts who was watching Kai run back and forth, and for that instant, the grunt turned her head to see Kai running right past her and winking before uppercutting her into the air.

Time went back to normal as Kai started running around the remaining Grunts. All of them looked in terror as they saw a yellow blur run circles around them all and creating a ring of electricity.

"What's he doing..?" Penny asked. Then, the Eevee fangirl's eyes widened in realization. She saw Kai dragging his hand across the floor as he ran.

"I see... He's using Pawmo's Thunder Wave on the ground as he runs," Clive said, pushing in his glasses with his pointer finger. "He's trying to imprison his opponents."

A field of electricity formed on the ring of Electricity Kai was created and rose like electric fences. A barrier of electricity covered the top half of the field. From the outside, it looked like a giant egg-shaped electric barrier had formed around all of Kai's opponents. And as the grunts watched in sheer horror and confusion, Kai appeared above them all with so much speed it almost looked like he teleported. His entire body sparked with intense electricity.

"WILD CHARGE!" Kai rushed toward the ground with his fist raised before he slammed it into the ground, creating an explosion that sent the majority of the team star grunts into the air. They flew straight into the field of electricity that caught and shocked them like they were flies caught on a spiderweb before they fell to the ground.

Kai pulled his fist from the ground and watched the unconscious bodies of his opponents raining down.

"Huh. I'd make a starfall pun, but that's beneath me."

A team star member who managed to stand up after falling from the ground, ran toward Kai from behind. Kai didn't move at all as he watched his opponents fall.

The team star member grinned as he pulled his fist- his invoker shined purple.

"You're wide open!" The grunt shouted.

Right before he threw his punch, Kai's body disappeared as though he teleported. Suddenly, The grunt felt a hand on his shoulder.

"I know what you are," Kai said, "But what am I?"

Kai tightened his grip on the grunt's shoulder, and the grunt screamed as electricity shocked his entire body. Soon, the shocking stopped, and the grunt's smoking unconscious body fell to its knees before falling to the ground with a thud.

"I'll answer that question since you can't yourself. I'm a Beast." Kai said.

"No," Atticus said, approaching with his arms crossed. "What you are is a villain...! Only a villain such as yourself would humiliate his opponent before striking them down...!"

This was the first time Kai was ever called a Villian. He was surprising himself with how happy he was to hear that.

"Only a villain would do that, huh?" Kai's grin widened. "If that's the case, then maybe I really am a villain. But what're you going to do about it, hero?"

Penny sighed to herself. "Ohhhh god… they're role-playing."

"So long as they're having fun," Clive said.

"I'm going to avenge my brethren and strike you down where you stand..!" Atticus cried, making a ninja-hand-sign with one hand and pulling a Pokeball with another. He dropped his pokeball, and out of it came Muk, who roared loudly. Atticus pulled his sleeve, revealing his watch-invoker before pulling out his Tera orb. The ninja shattered the orb and activated his invoker at the exact same time. An explosion of purple light rose into the air. Kai watched with anticipation.

Once the pillar of light faded, it revealed Atticus's shining purple body. He had one hand making a ninja hand sign and held a kunai knife on his other hand. His eyes, which were closed, slowly opened before he entered a battle stance.

"Prepare to be vanquished, cretin!" Atticus cried.

"Wouldn't we need to go somewhere more…" Kai looked around, looking at the groaning downed grunts around him. "Empty, fir-"

Atticus moved so quickly that it was as though he teleported and re-appeared in front of Kai before sweeping his legs from under him. Kai's entire body fell toward the ground, but before he could touch it, he felt Atticus's knee slam into his stomach and send him flying- but before he could fly far, Atticus grabbed him by the ankle. Then, Atticus swung Kai's entire body around like a windmill- and Kai started screaming in terror before being flung toward the forest ahead of them. Atticus's body disappeared as he began to move.

Clive and Penny shared a nod before running after them both.

Kai's body twirled like a torpedo before he managed to catch himself mid air. Flipping his body and landing on the side of a tree he was about to crash into, Kai prepared to jump back. The momentum Kai had pulled the tree he was standing on back like it was a slingshot being pulled. Kai leapt from the tree, and the tree whipped out in response, adding to Kai's speed as he was sent flying. From the distance, he could see Atticus darting his way with his kunai in hand.

The two thrust their weapons in front of each other, and a loud klang noise rang out as the two clashed and flew past each other like arrows. The two landed on the ground with their backs turned to each other as they landed with crouches. Soon, Kai stood up- both of his armored arms began to turn purple, as though they were poisoned.

"Gah..! My arms..! I can't feel my arms..!" He turned around, glaring at Atticus, who turned his head.

"Do you feel it? Your sins crawling down your back?" Atticus said before turning around. "Your arms are numb due to my Poison style Jutsu: Vital Venom!"

"Gah..!" Kai fell to one knee, feeling as though a weight had pulled him by his wounded arms. He not only couldn't move them, he felt an immense weight on them both.

Kai hammered his brain for thoughts on how he could get out of this situation. He had to think, something he studied about invokers in class could get him out of this..! Then his eyes widened once he came to a realization.

"Pawmo..! I need you… to undo the fusion..!" Kai cried.

Kai's entire body shone yellow before an orb of light was extracted from his armor. Soon, that orb transformed into Pawmo. Pawmo's arms were poisoned, just like Kai's were, and Kai's arms went back to normal.

"During invoker battles, when Pokémon aren't fused with their trainers..." Kai said, "all of the trainer's wounds transfer to the Pokémon instead..! In other words, as long as I don't fuse, your poison only affects Pawmo, not me..! Although, your poison won't be a problem anymore.."

Kai pulled out Tinkatuff's pokeball. Tinkatuff was a Steel/Fairy type- but the most important part was that she was a Steel type. Steel types were immune to Poison, and once she fused with Kai, so would he.

"I should have done this earlier...! Come out- Tinkatu-"

Atticus moved. Appearing in front of Kai with incredible speed, he kicked the Pokeball out of Kai's hand and sent it flying into the air. Kai gasped as Atticus leapt into the sky, and caught Tinkatuff's ball. He quickly put it in his pocket before rocketing toward the ground and landing with a crouch.

"Well… that muddles things.." Kai muttered.

Penny and Clive came running in right there.

"Kai!" Penny cried. "You have a Tinkatuff, right?! Just use her, and you'll win!"

"Yeah.. uh… Tinkatuff's Pokeball got stolen from me."

"It WHAT?!" Penny cried.

"I remained in wait for a reason," Atticus chimed. "I knew of your next move before you even thought it, cur! For you had terafused with thy Tinkatuff as you came into our base!"

Kai gasped. He was wielding Tinkatuff's hammer when he first appeared in front of Atticus's base..!

"Now thou must have a clean and fair fight with me! I will send you back to the underworld from which thou came!" Atticus entered a battle stance.

Kai grinned. Then, he started to laugh. "You're sharp. I like that. But you know what I like even more..?"

Kai pulled out Pawmo's Pokeball and returned the poisoned electric type into his ball. Then, he pulled out the Pokeball that contained his starter.

"A challenge..!" Kai cried, dropping his Pokeball in front of him and unleashing Quaxwell, who bowed before crying out in fury. Kai pulled out his Tera orb from his other pocket.

"Good..!" Penny cried. "Power up Quaxwell with terestialization, so then you can stay separated and be as strong as possible! As long as you're separated, the poison won't affect you, Kai..! It'll only affect Quaxwell..!"

Kai turned his head to Penny. "Your name's Penny, right?" Kai asked.

"Uh…yeah..?" Penny said.

"What you just said to me was a smart idea….but…"

"...Wait, why are you saying 'But..?'

"But-...I'm not doing that."

Kai crushed his Teraball, and an immense eruption of light came from below his feet. Penny watched with her jaw dropped as Kai emerged from the light with his rapier in hand.

"Interesting." Clive said. "So that's your decision."

"D-Did you forget what Atticus can do..?!" Penny cried. "What you're doing isn't very smart..!"

"It's Audacious."

"Is there a difference?!"

"Yes, actually." Kai turned his head to Atticus. "The difference between audacity and stupidity, is if I succeed or not. If I lose, then it was stupid. But if I win.." Kai pointed his blade at Atticus. "I become the coolest and most audacious guy around. That's what I want to be above anything else. It's my dream."

"Your dream..?" Penny asked.

"If only if thy thoughts were in order! Cool guys are not villains!" Atticus cried.

"Hey, you shut up!" Kai retorted. "There are plenty of villains that exist that are super cool! Besides, I'm about to prove you wrong right here, right now, hero!"

"Fine by me!"

"But-.." Penny muttered. "But..!"

"Hey, Penny?" Kai said, turning his head to Penny one more time, "I have this soon-to-be-boyfriend that I know called Aeon. You should meet him- you two would get along. Meanwhile, you can see what happens when my back's against the wall.. That's where I shine the most!"

Author's note:

Here's a joke I came up with that won't fit in the story but i thought was pretty funny:

Kai: Sees a flight of stairs

Aeon: "You're supposed to walk down the stairs, thats what they're for."

Kai: "Yeah, but after you see me do this back flip, you won't be able to keep your hands off me!"

Aeon: "It'll be hard to keep my hands off you as I carry you to the hospital, yes."

Kai: "PFFT- You'll see! Watch thi-"

(Kai attempts to backflip to get down the stairs but falls on his back.)

Kai: "OWWWWWW…."

Aeon: (puts hands on face and groans)
