Chapter 152 Tom And Jerry
The green light emerged from the tip of Evan's wand, but then promptly disappeared.
Pettigrew looked at the wand in his hand. He could sense it resisting him, his magic not working.
"Damn it, even a cursed wand belittles me!"
Peter shouted, covering the wand with both hands, channeling all his magical energy through it. He wanted to force it to kill his master.
But at that moment, he felt an unknown and dreadful magic returning from the wand.
Pettigrew stopped. He was afraid. His eyes opened like never before, staring fixedly at the wand in his hand. He couldn't believe that he could truly feel a force comparable to the Dark Lord's emanating from it, making him kneel.
"This simply isn't possible. What is this wand?"
Peter Pettigrew looked up horrified, hoping for an answer from Evan.
But all he saw was a dazzling white light approaching him, like lightning.
It was Evan's wandless spell!
Pettigrew subconsciously closed his eyes. He groaned and felt dazed.
Evan seized the opportunity to pounce on him. He didn't know why Peter had given up using the Killing Curse, but that was a window he gladly seized. He grabbed Peter's arm holding the wand and exerted all his strength to seize it. The two struggled silently, and as sparks flew from the wand, Peter's hand reached Evan's throat.
Since magic wasn't working, he decided to kill the boy in an even more brutal manner.
With a bang, the office door swung open once more, and Harry and Hermione rushed in.
"Harry, Hermione!" Evan shouted!
"Evan, we're here!" Hermione, with tears in her eyes, panicked at the sight of the two entangled on the floor, casting a sorrowful look at the marked Evan.
She waved her wand and magically separated them.
A red light struck Peter, who released Evan and went flying backward.
"You vile traitor, let go of Evan, let go of Ron..." along with Hermione, Harry also waved his wand. Compared to Hermione's panic and distress, Harry's eyes were filled with rage. He fiercely attacked Peter Pettigrew, and several red lights flew through Peter's body, piercing him.
Pettigrew gasped, crouching on the ground.
He wanted to retaliate, but from the moment the wand didn't obey him as he wanted to kill Evan, fear invaded his heart as he didn't know what kind of magic was emanating from Evan's wand.
He was truly scared. He couldn't face the three of them alone, and he didn't understand why Harry and Hermione were there. They should be in the Gryffindor Common Room, watching as Snape caught Sirius in helplessness and despair.
But both of them were there, so something unexpected must have happened.
Perhaps Ron didn't find Snape, or maybe Snape didn't believe him. In short, since the two of them were there, Black should be arriving soon.
As soon as he thought of Black, Pettigrew grew nervous, almost choking.
He couldn't believe that the plan he had been working on for so long had failed. He had to flee. He couldn't allow that madman Black to capture him. Knowing how Black was, once he caught him, he would surely tear him to pieces.
"No!" Peter shouted loudly.
Before Black arrived, he had to seize the chance to escape, just as he did twelve years ago.
Pettigrew set Evan's wand aside. He twisted to evade Harry's next attack. His body deformed and shrank rapidly. He turned into a rat before the alarmed eyes of Harry and Hermione.
Evan picked up his wand and swiftly cast a Stunning Spell at Peter. However, the rat's size was too small. It easily squirmed to dodge the curse and ran straight past the furious Harry. Speedily, it darted out of Professor Lupin's office.
Evan swiftly tucked his wand into his waistband and soared towards Pettigrew.
He transformed into a black cat and gracefully traced a dark arc in the air. Peter fled from the office. Evan heard Harry and Hermione shouting behind him, but now he disregarded all that. His mind was blank, with the sole thought of capturing Pettigrew.
Peter and Evan, a gray rat and a black cat.
The two, chasing each other, began an unprecedented pursuit through the Hogwarts castle.
They raced through the narrow, dark corridor, past the spiraling staircase, and up to the Grand Staircase. Peter Pettigrew was well acquainted with the castle's secret passages. More than once, he simply vanished before Evan's eyes. But that was futile. Evan followed him with the help of the tracking potion.
They hurriedly knocked down the suits of armor and talking ornaments in the hallway. Along their path, all the ghosts and portraits on the walls were taken aback at the sight. For centuries, the castle had never witnessed such a startling scene.
Pettigrew occasionally glanced back at Evan. He couldn't fathom that the young man was an Animagus.
He couldn't bear the thought of being captured by Evan. He would simply confess everything, and the boy would surely hand him over to Black. Or worse, he might deliver him directly to the fearsome Dementors outside.
"Waiting for the Dementors means a Dementor's kiss!"
At the thought of that, Pettigrew felt desolate and attempted to flee, but he couldn't rid himself of Evan.
But just then, on the second-floor staircase, Peter suddenly came to a halt. He sensed something approaching and staggered back a few steps, trembling. He saw a big, hairy black dog lunging suddenly from the dark corner.
It's Black!
He observed his fangs and his red eyes watching him. Behind him was the ginger Crookshanks.
"NO!" Upon seeing Black, Peter let out an unprecedented scream.
Every hair on his rat-like body stood on end. He ran faster than ever, descending the stairs and not looking back at the hallway.
He couldn't stay in the castle. He was heading towards the Forbidden Forest. That was his only hope of escape.
Just as Peter was about to exit through the castle's door, a white light, like a barrier, suddenly shone.
Evan was surprised to see Pettigrew being pushed back.
How was that possible?!
Evan quickly turned his head and blinked. Behind a curtain, he saw an unexpected figure.
