Chapter 2 Cajun Granny Stew (reedited 4/27/22)

Today was a beautiful day. Really beautiful. It was a nice temperature with only a handful of clouds in the sky. Muriel decided to go to the park, with Shaggy, Scooby and Courage to just enjoy the day without any worries. Muriel was feeding the birds, Shaggy and Scooby were playing fetch, while Courage was on his owner's lap

"Oh, Courage. Isn't it grand to feed the birds?" Muriel asked Courage as she threw some bird seeds to the birds in front of them that happily ate it.

Courage just looked at the blue and white birds uncomfortably as he lay on Muriel's lap.

"Birds. I don't like birds," he said as he looked from Muriel back to the birds. "They always make fun of me." Birds? Why did it have to be birds?

"NYAH!" one of the birds immediately responded with by sticking out its tongue and having its wings on the side of it head.

Courage shrieked in fright before diving inside Muriel's jacket to hide. The birds immediately started laughing at this.

"Isn't this the life? Not a care in the world," Muriel asked. Unaware at what just happened and continued to feed the birds.

By the bench Shaggy was playing frisbee with Scooby.

Shaggy tossed a Frisbee in the air, "Catch Scooby-Doo!"

Scooby jumped up, "Ron't worry Raggy! RI've got it!"

Scooby caught it with his mouth and brought it back.

"Way to go, Scooby!" Shaggy congratulated.

"Courage. Will you be spending all afternoon in there?" Muriel asked as she opened up her jacket more so she could talk to him directly. Courage nodded subtly. She then leaned back on the bench, sighing with content as she felt her eyes start to droop.

Courage saw something orange quickly run behind the bench, causing Courage to wonder aloud, "What was that?" Courage looked around as he moaned with worry.

Suddenly, from between the dog popped up a fox wearing sunglasses! "Hey man! How ya doin?" he asked Courage up close.

Courage yelped before he closed the coat up tight. Please go away! Please go away!

The fox looked up at Muriel, who was softly snoring away, having fallen asleep.

"Awww, ain't that sweet. Granny fell asleep," he then knocked on the lump that was Courage, making him open the coat up to look at him. "Hate to pull you from your crib, but I got a granny stew to do," he said, before he grabbed Courage with a hand and tossed him away, watching him as Courage landed on a fountain centerpiece.

"OW! OW! OW! OW! OW!" Courage yelled in pain, feeling agony.

Nearby the fountain Shaggy was about the throw the frisbee again when he and Scooby heard Courage's screams of pain. Scooby and Shaggy raced towards where the sound came from and was met with hilarious sight of Courage on a water fountain statue of a Mermaid.

"Like, what happened little Courage guy?" Shaggy asked him.

"A FOX JUST STOLE MURIEL AND IS PLANNING ON MAKING A STEW OUT OF HER!" he answered panicked.

"Oh okay….." Shaggy replied, before realizing with confusion and horror of what the pink beagle just said, "WAIT, WHAT?!"

"RA RURIEL STEW! ROH NO!" Scooby cried in panic.

As the boys looked to where Muriel was sitting a few moments ago and saw that she was no longer there.

"Like, what are we gonna do man!?" Shaggy answered anxiously. "Aunt Muriel, is gonna be like, well done."

"I don't know what we are going to do but it better be good," Courage answered before he, Shaggy and Scooby dashing off in the direction.

They ran into William's Meat And Salami Shop, and grabbed a three large salamis before running back out and after the fox, with the owner crying out in a Louisiana accent, "Hey! Come back here with that salami!"

"Like, you can't save Aunt Muriel on an empty stomach, right Scoob?" Shaggy asked, as he ran and ate the salami.

"Reah," Scooby giggled, as he eat his salami also.

Courage rolled his eyes, how can those two eat at a time like this? Then again this is Shaggy and Scooby he was talking about, they eat no matter what kind of time. They almost eat as much the farmer.

They followed the fox's trial to a bus stop, where the fox was leaning against the wall with a hand.

"Okay, dude. Like, where's my Aunt Muriel?!" Shaggy demanded.

But instead of answering, the fox shrugged.

"Well, then. Only one way to find out," Courage calmly said.

He raised the salami and slammed it as hard as he can onto the fox's foot, which caused the fox to scream loudly in pain. But what stood out was the fact that he stuck out his tongue in pain and on it was Muriel still asleep. The trio grabbed Muriel, picked her up and ran as fast as they could from the fox. They failed A taxi then drove up, opening its door, which then slammed into the trio causing them to drop Muriel.

"I truly thank you," the fox from before said as he leaned out of the taxi and caught Muriel before she hit the ground. He then quickly went back in and drove off.

"Muriel!/Aunt Muriel!/Ruriel!" The trio suddenly exclaimed in pain, they renflated and fell to the ground with a comedic plops.

"What should we do now man? He's like probably far away now and poor Aunt Muriel is gonna be on that fox's menu," Shaggy asked, worriedly.

Scooby whimpered, at the thought of Muriel being in the stew, that the fox was talking about. Roh poor Ruriel.

"Don't worry guys, I have an idea. Follow me," Courage said before moving away.

The best friends seemed concerned but agreed and followed after Courage.

"MURIEL!" Courage shouted as he looked in another direction while looking through binoculars. "MURIEL!"

They're in a hot air balloon going over the town and the park. Courage was leaning over the edge of the casket trying to find Muriel and the fox. But so far, he had no luck. Shaggy was tending to the balloon to make sure they stay up in the air but also to be ready to make the balloon go down in an instant when they spot Muriel or the fox.

"Rey guys, I found Ruriel," Scooby shouted getting Shaggy and Courage's attention.

"Where?" Courage asked going over to him.

"Like, there she is," Shaggy answered while pointing at her.

The three saw that the taxi the fox was using had a flat tire and the fox was now fixing it. And for some reason, as he was fixing it, he was holding Muriel up.

Shaggy lowered the balloon closer to the fox and Muriel. Soon they're close enough where they could hear the fox talking to himself.

"Here, we come Muriel. I hope," Courage said as they are now only a few feet above the head of the fox.

"Won't take but a moment, my darling," the fox said to the still sleeping Muriel he was lifting up. "Mmm, mmm. I can taste that granny stew right now."

As he said this, Courage grabbed Muriel and lifted her into the basket. Scooby then gave Courage a giant bomb with a lit fuse. He smiled and placed in on the paw that the fox was using to hold Muriel. Still unaware of the whole thing. Only did he realize something was amiss when he heard a strange noise.

"Hey, what's this?" the fox asked, curious as he brought the bomb to his face. Only for it to explode right as he did that. Leaving behind a stick of a head that's covered in soot and dirt. His eyes and lips grey with smoke coming out of his mouth each time he opened it. "Oh my!"

"Now keep your dirty hands to yourself, you filthy fox," Courage yelled at him as they flew away from him.

"Reah, filthy fox," Scooby shouted, as he glared at the fox.

"Like dudes, I think he got the message," Shaggy told the dogs as he guided them away.

Surprisingly, Muriel was still fast asleep. After about ten minutes had passed, Shaggy figured they're safe enough that he could lower the hot air balloon. Once on the ground, the trio got out and circled around Muriel who was still asleep.

"Alright, Muriel. Don't worry about that fox. He's way behind," Courage said and released a howl right after. But Muriel only answered by snoring some more.

"Like, there is no way that fox is coming back," Shaggy added. "We're far way from that creep."

Unfortunately, Shaggy jinxed it, as he, Scooby and Courage heard the sound of heavy machinery in the distance. Suddenly, a steamroller ran over the three, pushing them into the ground as the driver grabbed Muriel.

"HELLO AGAIN!" the fox shouted as he grabbed Muriel and drove off with her.

A few minutes later, further on down the road, a hole opened up to reveal Courage, Shaggy and Scooby who had dug their way to the road. They looked around to see where the fox was, and saw that he was quickly approaching in the distance.

"Oooh, we gotta stop that fox!" Courage said.

"But like, with what?" Shaggy asked.

Scooby looked for something to help them stop the fox. His eyes soon landed upon a fork in the road that had a 'Road Closed' sign on one road with large rocks behind it.

"Rhose rocks will stop him," Scooby said before getting out of the hole and moved to grab the sign and placed it behind the hole.

"Good thinking Scoob," Shaggy said, giving a thumbs up to his best friend.

"Think this will work guys?" Courage asked once they're behind the sign. Hearing the steam roller get closer and speed up, Scooby gave him an honest answer.

"Rope," Scooby said, in fear before the steam roller reached them and ran over the sign and them. Crushing the trio, making the three flat as a pancake and in a world of hurt.

Two minutes later, Muriel was thrown into the air, as she was falling, Shaggy, Scooby and Courage came running over, standing directly underneath Muriel as they looked around for something that they could use to catch her.

She then slammed down on top of them, slamming them into the ground.

Cajun Fox, water dripped from his tail as she came over to them. "I'll just take that from ya," he said as he grabbed her in his arms and walked away, revealing flattened Shaggy, Scooby and Courage on the ground.

They popped back into shape, before they watched the fox walk away.

"Muriel!" Courage cried out.

Shaggy thought for a moment, and said, "Hang on guys, I like have a idea."

Later, Courage, Shaggy and Scooby, were disguise as winners and where standing in front of the fox and Muriel with a slot machine next to them that had the word 'Win' on top covered in lights.

"Ahem, you look lucky. Wanna try?" Shaggy asked, gesturing to the machine.

"I sure am lucky," as the fox rummaged through a purse she pulled out from somewhere. "And this is a particularly lucky day," he said as he pulled out a large quarter that he then put in the machine before pulling the lever, causing the slots to spin. "I was born lucky."

DING! DING! DING! went the machine as three red hearts appeared on the slots, meaning that he won.

"You see!? I win!" he exclaimed happily, before a large boxing glove attached to a spring popped out from behind one of the slots and hit him, causing him to let go of his hostage.

"Come on guys!" Shaggy said as Courage caught Muriel before he, Shaggy and Scooby started running away, leaving the hats and machine behind them.

"Wake up Muriel!" Courage cried as he ran away.

Scooby frantically looked behind him once in a while to see if Cajun Fox was after them.

Shaggy soon spotted a phone booth in the distance, and sped up. "Hey guys, like there's a phone booth. We can call for help."

Once the trio reached it, Courage set Muriel down before he quickly grabbed the phone and dialed furiously.

"Come on! Come on!" Courage cried as he waited for someone to pick up.

"Hello, police department," an unenthusiastic woman's voice said over the line.

"Help! Help!" Courage said, dancing in place as he pointed in the direction he had come from. He then started babbling a bit before he turned into a large fox monster and roared into the phone. Once he finished roaring, he then turned back to normal, his teeth chattering.

Shaggy and Scooby were amazed at what just happened.

"Like, how does he do that?" Shaggy said, in confusion.

"RI don't know," Scooby answered, just as confused as his best friend.

"Okay, we'll send a car right over," the woman said before she hung up, causing Shaggy, Scooby and Courage to smile in relief before Courage hung up the phone and waited.

It was only a few seconds before they heard the sound of a siren quickly approaching in the distance.

"Rell, that was fast," Scooby said.

The police car drove right past them and then stopped, before the officer got out and came over to them.

"You called?" the fox said with his hands on his hips, wearing a police uniform and holding a billy club.

"Zoinks!" Shaggy exclaimed, before Scooby jumping into his arms

Courage whined, waving his arms around in fear before he, Shaggy and Scooby were bonked on the heads with the club, causing large welts to appear. They groaned as they rubbed their heads while Cajun Fox picked up Muriel.

"Now if you three don't mind, I gotta stew to do," the fox said before he took off, leaving his police uniform behind.

The trio quickly recovered. They quickened their pace and soon found the fox again. He apparently found a bi-pedal plane and was now using it to escape. Muriel was in the other seat asleep.

"AUNT MURIEL!/RURIEL!/MURIEL!"

Seeing that he was about to take off, they ran as fast as they can and manage to reach him. Unfortunately, he started to take off as well. The three managed grabbed the rear ends of the plane as the it was taking flight.

"And I hate to fly," Courage said as he continued to hang on to the fin, one of his biggest fears was heights and definitely flying.

"I think we all do," Shaggy agreed with him.

"Reah," Scooby added.

"It won't be long now. Mmm, mmmm!" the fox said already thinking of the stew he was about to make out of Muriel.

"HOLD ON MURIEL! WE'RE COMING!" Courage shouted out getting the fox's attention.

"DON'T MOVE!" Shaggy cried.

"RAY PUT!" Scooby added.

"What?! What is wrong with those dogs and that kid?" the fox asked astounded that they're keeping this up. He then turned back to the controls.

"LIKE, HANG ON GUYS!" Shaggy screamed as he tightened his grip.

The fox was making the plane going in giant circle a few times. With the trio being upside down and screaming their lungs out.

"They're a hanging on kinda dogs and kid, ain't they?" the fox questioned. He then pulled controls and made the plane go straight up completely.

The trio all screamed as they struggled to keep their grip. Unfortunately they lost their grips while the fin that Courage was biting in an attempt to stay on broke, and they all fell.

The fox had unknowingly circle back around and saved them. Shaggy and Scooby landed in the seat with Muriel while Courage landed in the pilot seat where the fox was.

"Go on, make yourself right at home," the fox told the trio before he picked up Courage and started strangling him.

Shaggy and Scooby looked up, their eyes widened, they turned to Courage and the fox, as they pointed up.

"Hey, sports, look at this," the fox said in amazement. They all looked to where he was looking and saw that Muriel had somehow gotten out of her seat and was now walking along the wings of the plane still asleep, making them all panic.

"WAIT! DON'T DO IT! NO DON'T! OOH!/RAIT! RON'T DO IT! ROOH!" they all cried at Muriel as she neared the edge of the wings and seemed like she was about to walk off.

But she stayed there and didn't. But that caused the plane to tilt dangerously to the side. Knowing they needed to balance the plane out, they rushed out of their seats onto the opposite side of the wings. Either this, the plane leveled out again.

"HOLD ON! WE'RE COMING FOR YOU!/ROLD ON! RE'RE COMING FOR YOU!" they all shouted and slowly began to make their way across the wings.

Only to immediately go back to where they're as the plane started to tilt dangerously again.

"This is all your fault!" Courage suddenly yelled at the fox.

"My fault?" the fox questioned offended.

"REAH! ROU'RE TRYING TO MAKE A STEW OUT OF HER!" Scooby yelled at the fox as well answering his question.

"And a right good one, she gonna be," the fox countered as he pushed his finger on Scooby's nose.

Shaggy noticed something, as he pointed nervously. "Like dudes…"

Scooby, Courage and the fox turned back to Muriel and saw that she had taken a step and fell of the plane. They all screamed in horror at what they just saw. Everyone immediately kneeled down and looked to where she fell only to get a surprise as she was still on the wings. Only this time, she was on the underside of the wings still asleep and still walking somehow.

"I knew she was there all along," the fox said trying to act smug.

"Oh, yeah, yeah," Courage said calling his bluff.

"Like, sure you did," Shaggy added sarcastically.

The plane then started making a sound similar to a train whistle, causing them to look in front of them and then start screaming in alarm. They were heading straight at a cliff!

BOOOM!

The plane exploded into hundreds of pieces as it hit the cliff, sending Muriel flying into the air before they landed on the top of the cliff.

"OW! Like, are you okay guys?" Shaggy asked him he clung onto the cliff.

"Reah, I'm okay Raggy" Scooby said, despite being in a bit of pain.

Courage whined briefly as he rested for a few seconds, before he went "Ooooooooh! Muriel!" he, Shaggy and Scooby quickly got onto their feet and ran after the fox.

Then Courage tripped the fox, while he and the boys were behind a rock, causing the fox to fling Muriel.

"Will someone close the window? It's so drafty," Muriel said as she glided through the air. Momentarily waking from her sleep before going right back.

"WE GOT YOU MURIEL!/WE GOT YOU AUNT MURIEL!/RE GOT YOU RURIEL!" the trio shouted as they ran after her to try and catch her. Unfortunately, because the cowardly trio were looking at her, they did not see where they're going and nearly fell of the edge of another cliff.

"Oh man, like that was close," Shaggy said as he looked down and began to feel a bit weak in his legs.

"Going somewhere?" the fox suddenly said from behind the trio.

They turned around to face him, but just as they did, he pushed them off the cliff. And as if to add insult to injury, just as he did that, Muriel also fell and he caught her. And in a flash, he disappeared. The trio started screaming as they fell down the extremely tall cliff, ten minutes later they went straight through the cave. As they came out the other side, the trio saw the fox was standing over a giant pot. He was also holding Muriel over himself to try and get her into the pot. But stopped when he heard them crash through the roof.

"What? Wait! NO! DON'T DO IT! OH! OH! OH!" the fox said as he saw them heading towards him but was unable to move in time. A split second after he said that, the trio hit Muriel and because of the force, it sent him into the pot himself.

"Zoinks," Shaggy moaned as he and Scooby got off Muriel and laid down on the fox's counter.

Muriel then woke up, sitting on the top of the pot. "Oh. OH! BOYS! WHAT AM I DOING HERE?" Muriel asked with a frown. But she then smelled the air and smile. "What's that delicious smell? Is that Cajun Fox Stew? Boys, shall we have some?"

"No, No. Fox Stew is not for you," the fox said still in the pot.

"No thanks. I had enough Cajun for one day," Courage answered weakly as fatigue lace his voice.

"Like for once Scoob, I'm not hungry," Shaggy said, as he fainted in exhaustion.

"Re either," Scooby added. "Scooby-Dooby-Dooo!" he shouted weakly before falling off the counter in exhaustion.

Well that's all for this one. This is probably one of my favorite episodes. I laughed so hard every time I watched this one. See ya in the next chapter. VK IS OUT PEACE!
