Chapter 297 Malfoy, On The Brink Of Becoming A Meal
There was no sound in the Forbidden Forest, everything was silent.
Under the shelter of dense leaves, the faint, pale green light seemed reluctant to please, as if there was some disaster hidden in the shadows of the bushes.
None of the three spoke, and the scarce sounds of their footsteps on the leaves around them only heightened their nervousness and unease.
Malfoy's anger gradually dissipated, and nervousness seized him, making his heart beat faster and faster.
Recklessness without purpose was not the Malfoy family's style. If it hadn't been for Crabbe and Goyle's dissuasion, he would have been the first to leave now.
To save his reputation, he decided to kill an Acromantula before returning to the castle.
By then, Flint should have also completed the tedious and meaningless task.
To muster courage, Malfoy shouted: "Do not think this is the end. You are only taking the lead for now. My father wrote to me the other day. He is not satisfied with the Committee for the Disposal of Dangerous Creatures' decision. He decided to appeal. He has the support of several important people. For me, the Hippogriff is dead this time!"
Goyle and Crabbe barely smiled, still looking around suspiciously.
"This time, that cursed mudblood Mason can't help you. The thought of seeing that stupid furry behemoth cry is entertaining enough for me. I can't believe he's still our teacher!" Malfoy leaned against a tall tree with a malicious smile on his pale face. "It's a shame. If Professor Snape allowed me, I would be the first to drop out of the Magical Creatures Care course. You know, my father always thought Dumbledore had some issues with his management methods. After killing the Hippogriff, the next thing should be..."
Before finishing his words, he saw Goyle and Crabbe suddenly turning towards him. It seemed they had found something. With frightened faces, their eyes were fixed above.
"What's wrong with both of you?" Malfoy said suspiciously. "Don't you think, like the other idiots at the school, that the noble Malfoy family will be defeated by some poor worms and mudbloods? I tell you this is absolutely impossible!"
"Up... up... up, Draco," Crabbe's voice was somewhat distorted.
Beside him, Goyle trembled and pointed at Malfoy's head. It seemed like something was blocking his throat and he couldn't speak for a long time.
Seeing the appearance of his two followers, a foreboding feeling arose in the depths of Malfoy's heart.
He swallowed, gripped his wand in his hand, slowly raised his head, and looked up following Goyle and Crabbe's eyes.
In the next second, a piercing scream echoed in the Forbidden Forest.
Malfoy's face was ashen, as if he were dead. He collapsed to the ground and stared in disbelief at the horrifying scene in front of him: eight black and fierce horrible eyes were staring at him.
It was an Acromantula!
He didn't know when it had silently approached them. It was less than a meter away from Malfoy, he could even see the fur on its body.
The most terrifying thing was the size of this Acromantula.
It was larger than any Malfoy had seen before, with large sharp pincers gleaming with a cold pulsating light, and eight thick spider legs dancing around.
Nausea... panic... confusion... despair.
Malfoy had no idea what words to use to describe his current feelings. He raised his wand unconsciously and a faint green glow shot out.
This was a spell that Snape had taught only him. It was very useful for dealing with Acromantulas. That's why he dared to venture into the forest without being accompanied by a teacher.
However, due to the panic, the curse grazed the side of the nearby Acromantula's body and passed without any effect.
Click, click, click...
There was a sudden numb voice and the Acromantula lunged towards Malfoy along the trunk.
In panic, Malfoy cast another curse, trying to keep it at bay.
Just as the Acromantula fell upon him, over a dozen giant spiders emerged from the surrounding bushes.
Crabbe and Goyle stupidly turned in the same spot, gazing at them frantically.
"Damn it, this was a trap! We are surrounded by Acromantulas!" Malfoy pointed his wand in hand and exclaimed, "Don't stand there like fools, you two nitwits."
Upon Malfoy's command, Goyle was utterly lost. Instead of using his wand, Crabbe picked up a branch from the ground and faced the approaching Acromantula, extending his arms foolishly.
Malfoy had no time to deal with the two idiots beside him. He wanted to flee, but the Acromantula in front of him was firmly entangled with him.
Although massive, it moved very swiftly.
Malfoy's magic veered off course and made no difference.
Despair gradually crept into their hearts. They were all inside the castle now. No one knew they were in the Forbidden Forest, and no one would come to save them.
Click, click, click...
Malfoy was distracted and suddenly felt a sharp pain in his right arm holding the wand. He was bitten by the Acromantula in the same place where Buckbeak had attacked him last time.
But this time, it was not a long, deep cut, but a narrow, shallow wound.
Indeed, this time the wound didn't bleed as much, but it was even more deadly.
The Acromantula was venomous, and the blood around Malfoy's wound quickly turned a strange green color.
"Help, I'm going to die!" He cried out and flung his wand away.
But no one could save him. Goyle and Crabbe were ensnared by Acromantulas, with their large heads facing down, fiercely struggling. They were securely held by the two hairy front legs of two Acromantulas and dragged towards the center of the forest.
If nothing changed, they would become food.
Since the young wizards of Hogwarts had initiated a large-scale war with the Acromantulas, the beasts had suffered significant losses. That, coupled with the fire caused by Evan, had turned them into mortal enemies of humans. Hagrid had also told Evan about this a few days ago. Aragog hadn't been seen recently, and the descendants of the Acromantulas had even started to attack him.
This was something that had never happened before.
Aragog had completely degenerated and become an enemy of the wizards of Hogwarts.
In a situation of almost total war, these creatures naturally refused to sit still and surrender to their death.
The tall and hefty Goyle and Crab could be saved for later, but the bitten Malfoy, of course, was tonight's menu!
Of course, alive, the taste of dead human flesh is inferior!
But before that, they would be taken to Aragog and then enjoy a delicious live meal!
