Well here's the next chapter, I decided to give Mother's Day a little twist, as you'll find out. Enjoy.
(Reedited 5/09/22)
It was mother's day, in the kitchen Muriel and Eustace were arguing about how Eustace should go out to see his mom, while Shaggy, Scooby and Courage where in the living room listening to what the couple are discussing about. The three were happy about that Eustace was going to be out for the rest of the day, that means no scary masks and no remarks from the grumpy old farmer.
"Eustace, it's mother's day. You have to go see your mom," Muriel protested.
"And you're coming with me," Eustace argued.
"Oh no. I'm not going to see that woman," Muriel refused, apparently she dislike Eustace's mother for some reason.
Shaggy, Scooby and Courage smiled at that announcement, that meant that they could spend time with Muriel, without Eustace ruining everyone's fun.
"Well I ain't going, if somebody doesn't go with me!" Eustace pouted.
Shaggy, Scooby and Courage, shivered at that, as their stomachs dropped and worried that one of them might had to go with Eustace after all.
"So why not take Shaggy?" Muriel suggested, "After all, this would be a grand time for you two to spend the day together with your mom."
Shaggy cringed, he wished he could vanished like a insect and craw under a crack on the wooden floor, "Oh no, there's no way I'm going with my angry old uncle," he said, not wanting to have anything to do with his cranky uncle.
"I don't wanna take that Shaggy-haired-fella!" Eustace pouted.
Relief washed Shaggy's chest, as he sighed, "Like, thank goodness." Like, that was a close one.
But just when, he, Scooby and Courage thought that Shaggy was off the hook….
"Well alright, I'll take him," Eustace said, finally giving in.
Shaggy's heart sank, he was going with Eustace after all, Scooby and Courage give sympathetic looks to him, they knew how his uncle can be tough to handle. Muriel and Eustace came into the living room, with Eustace having flowers, chocolates and a mirror as gifts for his mom. Eustace went over to his nephew.
"You're better than nobody," Eustace said, as he took his nephew's hand and headed out the door.
Shaggy sighed, this was gonna be a long day, "Like, wish me luck guys."
Scooby and Courage wave goodbye, wishing their friend the best of luck. Shaggy smiled, feeling grateful for their support.
"Now are you sure you had all the presents?" Muriel asked, making sure her husband had not forgotten anything.
"Yeah, I got them," Eustace said, as he rolled his eyes.
Shaggy's cheerfulness quickly evaporated, as he and his uncle headed out the door.
"And be polite, take your hat off in the house, and give your mommy my regards," Muriel, remind her husband's matters (If he has any.)
"Are you sure you don't wanna go?" Eustace asked, he clearly rather take his wife, than his nephew.
And like, the feelings mutual. Shaggy thought to himself.
Muriel just gave her husband a look that clearly says 'are you kidding me?' "Be off with you now, my favorite show is starting," Muriel headed into the living room, with the dogs on the couch.
In the truck, Eustace was figuring out a plan to leave his mother's house earlier, so he and his nephew can go home, while Shaggy was just staring at the window, wishing he wasn't here right now. His uncle was clearly in a terrible mood.
"Listen up boy," Eustace said, breaking the silence, "Here's the plan."
Shaggy sighed, it seem he was up for a long argument "Like, what is it?" he said wearily, really not wanting to be here.
"When we get to Ma's," Eustace continued, "I'll gave you the high sign," he scratched his check and leaned closer to his nephew, "That's the high sign."
Shaggy blinked in confusion, "Okay….."
"When I give the high sign," Eustace said, while poking at Shaggy's stomach making him uncomfortable. "You act like a mad man, and attack Ma."
Shaggy was flabbergasted, it was bad enough he was coming along, but did he really had to act like a savage? "And like, how am I supposed to do that?"
"Figure it out," Eustace said, he obviously didn't care what his nephew did, he just wanted to go home. "Got that?"
Shaggy nodded, "Yes." He wasn't sure how he was gonna pull this off.
The duo have arrived at Ma's trailer, Eustace and Shaggy got off of the truck, and went to the door. Eustace knocked at the door, while someone was unlocking the door, Eustace scratch his chin to remind his nephew the plan.
"Got that?" Eustace asked.
"Okay, okay I got it," Shaggy said. Does he really had like, had to remind me twice.
The door open to reveal Ma Bagge, she has red hair, retangled glasses, a face similar to Eustace, a pearl necklace, a pink jacket, purple shirt, with a purple skirt and white boots.
"Hiya Ma," Eustace greeted.
Ma looked at Eustace for a second before looking at Shaggy, and to their surprise she said, "Hello Shaggy, good to see you."
Shaggy cringed, he looked at Eustace while smiling nervously. Eustace just scoffed at him, they had only been here for twenty seconds and Shaggy is already ruining everything.
"Like, don't look at me," Shaggy ventured.
Ma turned to Eustace and her smile changed to a frown, "Eustace you stupid boy."
I can see were Uncle Eustace get's it from. Shaggy thought, he didn't pay attention to uncle for a moment, he suddenly hear him growl and suddenly he stomped on Shaggy's foot, making the poor cowardly teen scream in pain, a fiery pressure pain surge in his foot
"That's no way to treat my Shaggy!" Ma said, as she grabbed her son and threw him on ground harshly. She turned to Shaggy giving him a warm smile. "We'll go in and sit down, and have us a nice visit."
Ma grabbed Shaggy's hand and took in inside the trailer.
Oh boy. Shaggy thought, he could tell this was gonna be a tough day.
Inside the trailer, Eustace was sitting in his chair pouting, while Shaggy was looking miserably at his uncle, like he was a pest and then his great great aunt, looking at him with a interesting gaze. Ma was just smiling at Shaggy.
Shaggy then noticed Eustace still wearing his hat in the house, even though he usually wears it at home, he thought him taking it off would make things seemed less awkward. He whispered to his uncle, "Uncle Eustace, like your hat."
"I'm sorry Ma," Eustace said, as he took off his hat, "How impolite to wear my hat in the house."
"Put your hat back on, you look like a billiard ball," Ma rudely scoffed.
Eustace obediently put his hat back on.
Ma then turned to Shaggy, "Aw the little boy. Don't you feed him? Poor fellow looks hungry."
"Well, I like, hadn't eaten in twenty minutes," Shaggy said, really hungry now, as he felt a hole in his stomach.
This made Eustace growl in envy, making Shaggy's heart sank.
"Now Shaggy," Ma said, as she got out a red pillow for Shaggy to sit on. "Now you just make yourself comfortable, and I'll be back with some food."
"Oh boy, oh boy," Shaggy said, excitedly, forgetting that his uncle was upset.
"Hey, why did you had to ask for food!?" Eustace complained.
"Hey, like, I can't go on with an empty stomach," Shaggy said in defense. Like, does he expect to me to go a whole day without eating?
Ma was back and brought in a bowl in chips and a glass of milk. "Now you just eat to your heart's content."
Shaggy was about to dig in, when he hears his Eustace growling in anger, Shaggy although his uncle might treat him, Scooby and Courage badly, he couldn't help but a pang of sympathy for him, and now feeling really selfish for his bottomless stomach to get filled up, while Eustace gets nothing. Shaggy grabbed a chip and offered it to his uncle.
"Get that thing away from me!" Eustace snapped and slapped the chip off of his nephew's hand.
Ma who was looking at herself in a makeup mirror turned her gaze to her son, "No wonder your nephew wants to share his food. You're all skin and bones! If you come to see your ma, you might get something to eat! But do you come? No!"
"I'm here ain't I?" Eustace pointed out.
"Yeah, and I suppose you want me to feed ya too?" Ma asked, sarcastically.
Eustace mumbled, that he was sorta hungry. Shaggy was watching this conversation while eating his chips and gulping down his milk, nerves where gnawing in his stomach.
"Well…." Ma thought for a moment, "Alright." She went into the kitchen to get some 'food' for his son. A minute later, Ma brought back two pieces of shriveled up bacon.
Shaggy stiffened with surprise, was that all he's getting? Even I would not get him that kind of food!
"Eat up," Ma said.
Eustace groaned, not expecting to get two pieces of shriveled up bacon.
While Eustace was eating his 'bacon' Ma was lecturing him, "Don't put your head down. Don't eat too fast. Pull your socks up! Don't slouch! Sit up! Why can't you be more civilized? Like Shaggy?"
"I'm not like, that graceful," Shaggy muttered to himself, not wanting to be a part of this whatsoever.
"Um, well…" Eustace began.
"Don't talk with your mouth full!" Ma scolded, "In fact, don't say anything at all!" Ma turned to Shaggy and smiled, "How you like that meal?"
"Please stop it!" Shaggy begged, not wanting to get his uncle more angry.
"Fine," Ma said, ignoring his pleading, "Let's go visit in the next room, and chat."
Eustace had enough of Ma praising his nephew and said, "Stop making Ma liking you so much! Got it!?"
Shaggy, nodded fiercely, "Yes sir!"
"Eustace, come here you stupid boy!" Ma called out in the living room.
A spark of an idea struck Shaggy, as he was thinking on how to help his uncle.
Eustace was about to when, Shaggy patted his shoulders, "Like, how about the gifts?"
Eustace thought for a moment and smile, "Hold on Ma. I got you some gifts." Eustace went outside to his truck to get the gifts.
I like, hope this works. Shaggy thought, with desperation.
In the living room, Ma and Shaggy were chatting, when Eustace came in with the gifts. He handed the flowers to his mom when she sneezed. She took the flowers and threw them across the room.
Shaggy winced, he should of guessed this wasn't going to be easy. Like ouch.
Eustace, not giving up, gave his mom, a box of chocolates, she took a piece and pop it in her mouth, and immediately spit it out.
"Yuck! You know I don't like chocolates!" Ma complained, as she handed the box to Shaggy.
Who like, doesn't love chocolate! Shaggy thought, as he dig in the box.
Eustace groaned, and give his last present to his mom, it was a mirror. Ma finally smiled and took the mirror, Eustace was relieved, she finally liked the present he got him.
"How about a photo?" Ma suggested.
Eustace grinned, laugh and nodded, he was finally gonna get the love he deserved.
Shaggy felt hope filling through him, was it possible Ma was going to take a picture with his son?
"Good," Ma said. "Hold the mirror." She then got herself ready, she put on makeup, brush her teeth, put on lipstick, and even got herself a tan for the picture.
Eustace laughed, this was it. Shaggy, had already finished the chocolates, and was happy for his uncle.
"Okay, I'm done," Ma then grabbed the camera and give it to her son, "Make it nice."
To Eustace's dismay, he realized he wasn't going to be in the picture. Ma grabbed Shaggy, who struggled to get out of her grip.
"Cheese," Ma said.
Eustace relentelly took the picture, of a happy Ma and a frown Shaggy.
"Shaggy don't we look great?" Ma asked, as she look at the photo.
"I guess…" Shaggy said quietly, feeling awkwardness worming into his skin. Like, this isn't going well as I had hoped.
"Guess what? I have a surprise for you," Ma said, as she went into her room to get the surprise for Shaggy.
Eustace frowned, this was the last straw, he handed to camera to his nephew. "Here! When Ma gets back, you take a picture of us!"
Shaggy looked at the camera with confusion, "Like, how do you work with this thing?" he asked, when he accidentally push the button and flash into Eustace's face.
Eustace covered his face, as flash burned his eyes.
"Like sorry," Shaggy said, as he kept accidentally taking pictures of Eustace.
Both of Eustace and Shaggy's eyes, were blind temporary from the flash of the camera.
"Like, did someone turn off the lights?" Shaggy asked, as he waved his hands into the air.
"You stupid nephew!" Eustace yelled.
"Stop it!" Ma scolded, as she came into the room. "Why don't you pick on someone your own size?" She turned to Shaggy, "Ready for the surprise?" She handed a big teddy bear for Shaggy, who's eyes were widened.
"Hey!" Eustace protested, "that's mine!"
While Shaggy, was cuddling his new stuff animal, Eustace was throwing a temper tantrum.
"Why don't you ever give me presents!?" Eustace complained, as he cried like a baby.
Shaggy looked at his uncle, he felt hot with embarrassment, to having to see Eustace act like a two year old and with his great aunt in the room with them. Like, not only is he always bullying me, does he had to like, embarrass me as well!?
"Want something do ya?" Ma asked as she turned her back for a moment and suddenly, "Booga Booga!"
Eustace and Shaggy screamed in terror, as Ma pulled out a mask that looks like Eustace's and Shaggy and Eustace hugged each other in fear.
Ma laughed cruelly at Eustace, "You're still a fraidy baby. You're pa was a real man. You can't fill his shoes!" Ma pointed to the giant shoes to the stove, much to Shaggy's astonishment.
Like, those are some big shoes. Shaggy thought, nervously.
"Not a man huh?" Eustace said, ready to take a care of this once and for all. "I'll show you."
Shaggy watched nervously as his uncle took out two chairs and a small table for him and Ma to sit on.
"Well see who's the best man," Eustace challenged, as he sit down.
"You want me to shame ya, in front of your nephew huh?" Ma mocked, as she sit down. "Okay, let's do it."
"Oh no," Shaggy groaned, as he face palmed. Like this can not end well.
The two began to arm wrestle, both giving all of their strengths and mights, while Shaggy just watched and winced at every moment.
"You never liked me," Eustace grunted.
"You stupid boy," Ma growled, as she was weighting down her son's hand.
Eustace screamed in pain, as his hand was going down to the table, thinking fast, he give the high sign to Shaggy. "Do something!" he begged in whisper. "If I lose, you lose! You stupid nephew!"
Shaggy, put down his bear, and thinking fast he grabbed the flowers, that Ma threw on the ground earlier. Shaggy then put the flowers into Ma's face. Ma then gave out a big sneeze, and blew the flowers all over the ground. And unexpectedly, Ma's hair suddenly fell off. And much to Shaggy's surprise, it turns out Ma had a wig and was bald the whole time.
"My hair!" Ma cried, as she put her hands on her bald head. "Oh no!" She begin to cry, as tears streamed down to her face. "I'm ugly! I'm ugly!" She went on the ground to cry her eyes out.
Eustace and Shaggy were in shocked.
"Ma, where your hair go?" Eustace asked, in shock.
Ma didn't replied, as she kept crying, while trying to cover her bald head.
"You upset Ma, you stupid nephew!" Eustace scolded, "It's all your fault!"
"Hey! You're the one who want her to lose!" Shaggy pointed out.
Eustace didn't reply as he went to his upset mom.
"My hair! I'm ugly!" Ma sobbed, as she turned to her son with tears in her eyes. "How could you love a mother who had no hair?"
Eustace kneeled down, took his hat off and to Shaggy's surprise and amazement, he comfort her. "No Ma… You always look good to me."
Ma give a sob and asked, "I did?"
Eustace nodded, and Ma smiled giving his son a pat on his hat. "Thank you son. But your the ugliest boy I ever did see."
Eustace frowned, as Shaggy face-palmed. Does she like, have to ruin the moment?
But to the cowardly teen's surprise, Ma and Eustace begin laughing, as if this was a joke.
"That's my Ma," Eustace said, as he and Ma rubbed each other heads affectingly.
Shaggy sighed in relief, as his body begin to relax. I guess this all worked out.
Eustace drove back him and Shaggy back the farm as he and Shaggy made their way inside, with Muriel, Scooby and Courage still sitting down and watching TV.
"Well how did it all go?" Muriel asked.
"Yeah, yeah, nice visit," Eustace brushed it off, ready to settled down for the evening. "Have to do it again, real soon." He took his newspaper and starting reading.
"Isn't that nice," Muriel said
Shaggy took a sit next to the dogs.
"How did it go Shaggy?" Courage asked, feeling really curious on how Shaggy handle things with his uncle today.
"Reah, what did you do?" Scooby asked, he couldn't help but felt curious as well.
Shaggy then got up and grabbed a picture for Muriel to see.
Muriel looked at the photo and said, "Isn't that lovely?"
Scooby and Courage looked at Shaggy in confusion.
"Let's like just say… This is a mother's day I think me or Uncle Eustace will ever forget," Shaggy said, as he smiled a little, happy that this day wasn't so bad after all
Scooby and Courage looked at each other, "What?/Rhat?"
Well that's all for now, I know Scooby and Courage were not in this chapter that much. But they will be in the next chapter. I wan't to give a little spotlight to Shaggy for a bit. And I thought it be a cool idea for Ma to love Shaggy more than Eustace, instead of Courage in the original episode. Well VK IS OUT PEACE!
