Chapter 302 Abandoning Malfoy

Evan had no time to attend to Malfoy, nor did he care for his gratitude.

Today, he risked his life to save Malfoy, Goyle, and Crabbe. However, that didn't mean he wanted to improve his relationship with them and become friends.

The motive behind his actions was quite simple; he merely didn't want them to be killed by the Acromantulas, especially in front of him.

As mentioned before, this had nothing to do with personal feelings; it was about his own nature and conscience.

He was still pondering the whispers that had just appeared in his mind. He didn't understand the meaning of those words. There was a voice deep in his heart that kept drawing him towards the cave below.

"No one knows the secret. In the deepest part of the earth, if you find the emblem, you will know everything," Evan repeated slowly.

In truth, he truly desired to explore the cave.

He disliked the feeling that something was hidden in the unknown existence in the Lair of Aragog, leaving him perplexed, and things slipping out of his control.

The other side was not Voldemort, nor was Voldemort as wicked and powerful.

But Evan knew nothing about it. He couldn't plan step by step as he had against Voldemort. He no longer had the advantage of knowing the future.

Perhaps he could go to the library to seek information or ask Dumbledore to give him some clues.

But first, he needed to know what the emblem mentioned in the whisper was like.

Only then could he know who the other side was.

A rustling sound was heard in the cave, and Evan directed Buckbeak to descend a bit. He wanted to see what was going to come out from inside.

He thought it would be Aragog and his elite, but unexpectedly, about five seconds later, a large group of small dark blue spiders emerged from the cave.

They looked very delicate, with light red stripes on their bodies.

These small spiders seemed freshly born and were extremely afraid of the sun.

They clustered around the entrance of the cave, covered by a milky white mist, and delved into the corpses hanging from the huge spider web in front of the Lair.

Evan allowed Buckbeak to approach again, and he could clearly see that with the entrance of the small spiders, those who had not fully adapted to the weather were sliding under the skin of the corpses.

They struggled to tear the flesh and blood with their newly formed pincers, piercing the blood vessels deep into the corpses and soon disappearing.

The whole process was extremely cruel, causing a tingling sensation on the scalp.

It was already terrifying just to think about this scene. No one knew how many young Acromantulas were hidden in the nearly 100 corpses.

In a short time, they would become the next generation of combat strength.

Malfoy, who had been sitting behind Evan for a while, feared that if Evan had not saved them, he would probably be the same as the corpses below, hanging there to become food for the Acromantula larvae.

Watching the scene in front of him, he felt very sick. A breeze blew, and Malfoy was confused, trembling on Buckbeak's back. He hastily grabbed the Hippogriff's feathers, but to no avail.

On his arm, the area that had just been bitten by the Acromantula had completely lost sensation, and the tingling and numbness were spreading rapidly throughout his body.

Malfoy wanted to urge Evan to leave and return to the castle. He was truly frightened now, fearing that any repercussions left by the venom would be too late.

And it wasn't clear why he seemed to be having hallucinations in his brain.

With the invasion of the venom, everything around him felt surreal. A voice resonated in his head, whispering and echoing.

Malfoy could not clearly hear what the other party was saying, nor did he want to hear it clearly.

His face was pale, nothing like a mudblood, and he did not have his usual demeanor. Now he only wanted to get away from this ghostly place and return to the warm and cozy castle.

Even if he had to ask Evan for it, even if he were asked to see all the Slytherins again, even if he had to witness Harry's exuberant appearance, he would not want to stay here.

Malfoy only wanted to speak and immediately stopped.

He felt something crawling on his skin. Slowly lowering his head, he saw a small spider emerging from the wound, just like Acromantula larvae that spilled frantically onto corpses.

Malfoy was startled, and as he was about to take a closer look, the small spider disappeared, and it was all an illusion.

The pressure caused by the fear of death almost left him breathless.

"I'm going to die!" This was Malfoy's only thought.

The next second, all he saw was black, and his large head drooped.

Evan, Goyle, and Crabbe did not think that Malfoy would suddenly faint, and they saw him fall directly into Aragog's lair.

"Damn!" Evan hurriedly controlled Buckbeak to swoop down.

Click, click, click.

An adult Acromantula suddenly emerged from the lair. It seemed to have anticipated this would happen and had been waiting here for a long time.

It used its two front legs to firmly grasp Malfoy and swiftly dragged him into the depths of the cave at full speed.

Evan wanted to stop it, but as soon as Buckbeak landed, a swarm of small spiders quickly crawled over them.

In the blink of an eye, hundreds of spider larvae emerged from the corpses in the web, clicking continuously and quickly tightening their pincers.

Crabbe and Goyle screamed in horror and clung to Buckbeak's feathers, huddled on him.

Their chubby bodies huddled into a ball, looking quite comical.

Buckbeak also flapped his wings and dared not land, his eyes shining with fear.

In a way, these spider larvae were even more terrifying than adult Acromantulas. They clustered densely together and, once near the body, bit the skin and entered the blood vessels, leaving only death behind.

The scenes of their mayhem spilling onto the corpses were still vivid, and no one dared to touch them.

Evan leaped to the ground and shouted, "INCENDIO!"

At the end of his wand, a golden-red flame burst forth, swirling. Under Evan's guidance, a wall of fire formed to block the approaching spiders and advanced slowly. Soon, the cave entrance was filled with the smell of charred flesh, and the spider larvae emitted twisted screams and were all killed.

It was enough time for Malfoy and the huge Acromantula to disappear.

"Draco was dragged inside!" Goyle pointed at the cave and shouted loudly. "We must save him, or he will die."

Crabbe pushed him hastily, closely examining Evan's face and inquired cautiously, "What should we do now?"

What else could be done? Who would have thought Malfoy would fall from Buckbeak's back?

It was all over. They just had to return to Hogwarts to inform Dumbledore of what happened here, and he could safely and perfectly resolve this issue.

But now, there was a sudden mishap. Waiting for Dumbledore and the other professors to arrive meant that Malfoy would likely die.

Evan descended the gentle slope decisively, half of his body entering the cave.

In the dark and secluded cave, the strange sensation reappeared, but this time, he was well-prepared, not lost like the last time.

Although deep down he felt the urge to delve further, reason kept Evan sane.

"If we leave here and rush back to inform the professors!" Evan made a firm decision, "If we do it fast enough, it shouldn't be too late."

If Harry were here, he might not even hesitate and would just plunge ahead.

That was his way, but Evan was different.

He could risk saving Malfoy, but the situation clearly exceeded his capabilities, and it would be foolish to charge ahead as if nothing were amiss.
