It was a lazy day on the farm today. A storm was raging outside with lightning flashing, thunder crashing and rain pounding hard against the roof, walls and windows of the farmhouse. The the family were engaged in their usual mundane activities. Muriel sitting in her rocking chair with Courage sitting in her lap Eustace reading his newspaper from his armchair, and Shaggy and Scooby were eating snacks on the couch.
Nothing out of the usual for them. They all just sat in the living room, listening to the dying storm pass by. That is until Eustace peeked over the top of his newspaper and peered at Courage, with the pink beagle being the only one to notice. Everyone else took notice once Eustace dropped the paper.
"Ooga booga booga!" Eustace shouted with his mouth full of sharp false teeth.
Courage howled and Shaggy and Scooby screamed in fright with Courage as the pink beagle jumped from Muriel's lap and Shaggy and Scooby jumped off the couch ran out the front door to the porch. The trio panted, as they a whacking sound come from the inside of the living room.
"Ow! What did I do?" Eustace asked, with pain.
The rain was now dying out and had reduced to light sprinkle rather than the downpour it had been just a few minutes earlier.
"I hate it when he does that," Courage panted.
"Reah, me too," Scooby agreed, while trying to catch his breath.
Shaggy panted and turned and glared at the front door, "Like one of these days, Uncle Eustace is not gonna have anybody to blame but himself."
They were pulled out of the moment when they heard a loud gurgling sound which was then followed by a series of bubbling sounds. Shaggy felt his gaze being drawn to a large puddle nearby. Scooby and Courage followed his gaze and saw the puddle as well.
"Rhat was that?" Scooby exclaimed in fright, getting a little spooked out.
"It sounds like it's coming from that puddle," Courage replied pointing to the puddle, unable to help feeling just as scared.
Shaggy, Scooby and Courage walked over to the puddle to get a better look at it. One glance was enough to tell them that this was a deep puddle due to the darkness of the water. The one question they had was, where did it come from? The rain was already letting up and there were no other large puddles around the yard. Not to mention that there was nothing particulary special about this spot, as far as the trio could tell, that would allow so much water to accumulate here. As soon as they looked into the puddle, the bubbling stopped with only their reflections staring back at them.
"Like, it looks normal to me guys," Shaggy spoke.
That is until their reflections began to distort and reform into a new image that neither of them had ever seen before. A figure of a creepy looking lady dressed in a black long sleeved dress with an red gem fixed to the V shaped neckline. The lady herself was unnerving to look at with her light blue skin, purple hair and pink pupil less eyes. She stared up at them and they stared back down at her. Shaggy, Scooby and Courage could feel chills run down their spines.
Then she hissed at the three of them. Shaggy and Scooby screamed in fright, while Courage howled in terror and the three ran back towards the farmhouse.
Courage then was warning the elderly couple at the goings on just outside, morphing into a puddle and letting out a growling sound as he did so before reforming into himself again.
The couple just gave each other a look before Esutace went back to his paper, making sure to say, "Stupid dog."
Muriel rubbed her forehead and asked, "Courage, do you mind repeating that?"
"Like, come outside Aunt Muriel," Shaggy insisted.
Courage picked her up out of the chair and carried her back outside, with Scooby and Shaggy following close behind.
Courage took Muriel over to the puddle and pointed down at the water, whining and babbling a little more.
"Rhere's something in the puddle!" Scooby exclaimed, pointing at the puddle.
But there was nothing in the puddle, just their reflections.
"Oh boys, it must have been a fish," Muriel assured the trio.
Shaggy gave his aunt a weird look, "Aunt Muriel, like, since when do fish appear in rain puddles? How would they like, even appear in rain puddles?"
"Oh I've seen crayfish swimming around in them right after storms before. And besides, we do have an underground source of water. Nothing to worry about," Muriel explained as she turned back to the house.
"But... but... but... oh…" Courage indicated, trying to get Muriel to come back but went unheard as Muriel entered the house.
"Rhat was no fish Ruriel," Scooby frowned, as he kept his gaze fixated on his own reflection.
Some time later that day, things had settled down some. Shaggy was sipping some tea that his aunt had given him and suffice it to say, it was helping him calming down. His aunt was currently knitting and his uncle was back to reading his paper again, sipping some tea as well. Courage and Scooby were back at the window, staring anxiously out at the puddle still. Shaggy looked back at them and could feel the agitation in them as well. He hoped that whatever it was that they had seen out there would leave them and their family be.
Muriel got up to go into the kitchen and said, "I think I'll get some more tea myself. Care for some more Shaggy dear?"
Shaggy nodded and handed his cup to Muriel and said, "Like, totally."
Muriel took his cup with a smile and walked towards the kitchen. Eustace continued to sip at his tea, until all at once he heard a gurgling sound emanating from it.
Shaggy heard the sound as well and looked up at Eustace to see what was up. His eyes began to bulge in fear when he saw the familiar form of the woman from the dark puddle rising up out of the steaming cup of tea.
"Eustace," came a loud whisper.
Eustace's eyes went wide at the sight of the woman as well.
Shaggy gasp with fear, as he began to stand up and back away with terror and was about to get the dogs. Only for her to smile and splash some of the water in into his eyes. Quickly wiping the water from his eyes, Shaggy looked back at the tea to see that she was smiling at the cowardly teen now. Shaggy blinked a few times to try and stop it, only for him to feel very different, the look of horror began to fade as the powerful water-like witch washed across the young man's mind. Like a all of his fears had gone away and a strange calmness took over him.
"Eustace, Shaggy," she whispered again as they suddenly became completely entranced by her.
She splashed some water on Eustace's face and Eustace moaned in delight at the feeling of the water on his face. Shaggy slowly closed his mouth, the image of a terrifying woman became unimportant, instead it was replace with something else. The woman seemed so trustworthy, Shaggy's mouth burst into a bright toothy grin as his tired mind, easily swayed mind was goaded into believing he's safe now.
Courage and Scooby finally turned their heads towards the old farmer and the cowardly teen and Courage howled and Scooby gasped at the sight of the woman standing in the steam of the cup and that Shaggy was just standing there, staring at them and not doing a thing to help.
Scooby looked at Shaggy and widened his eyes, "Raggy, Raggy!" Scooby's face was expressing with grave concern, while taking hold of the teen's shoulders and trying to shake some sense into him.
But Shaggy didn't respond, as he continue to stare at the woman in a goofy like trance.
"Rourage, get Ruriel!" Scooby shouted, as he desperately pulled his best friend's shirt trying to get him to snap him out of it.
Courage nodded and ran from the living room and towards the kitchen, he felt helpless and overwhelmed. How was this happening? Even if he reached Muriel, she couldn't do anything about this. Scooby could hear Courage babbled to Muriel.
"Oh what is it now?" Muriel asked.
Shaggy continued to watch, not able to move or even take his eyes off of the woman. That is until the sound of Muriel's approaching footsteps were heard, and the woman in the tea suddenly vanished before their eyes.
"Raggy!" Scooby called out.
"Are you both alright?" the voice of Muriel asked snapping Shaggy from whatever that water did to him.
"What...What happened?" Shaggy asked himself, he cracked his neck, rubbing his head as he slowly began to feel a headache come on.
Eustace blinked and shook his head clear before answering, "What? Yeah yeah! Darn herbal teas."
"The kitchen ceiling is leaking again Eustace. You better go fix it," Muriel responded back.
Eustace grumbled as he got up out of his chair and crossed over towards the kitchen, grabbing a bucket from the closet first. Muriel turned her head towards Shaggy and noticed something off with him as well.
"Raggy?" Scooby spoke, he was beginning to worry him all the more as Shaggy seemed to be delirious and confuse.
"Are you alright dear? You look a little dizzy," Muriel asked him.
"Like I'm fine, just a little tired. Any more of that tea?" Shaggy said, still feeling a little woozy from attempt mind control.
Muriel shook her head and answered, "Looks like we used the rest of it up. I'll get some more in the morning."
Shaggy gave her a confused look and replied, "Are you sure? Like, I thought we had some extra tea in the cupboard. Like, let me go check real quick."
Muriel smiled and said, "Thank you dear, you can probably reach up there easier than I can anyway. You wouldn't mind fixing some up if you find some would you?"
Shaggy smiled, shook his head and said, "Not a problem. I'll be right back."
Shaggy walked past his aunt, Scooby and Courage and towards the kitchen door. He stepped into the kitchen, noticing that his uncle was standing by the bucket as water continued dripping into it.
"Hey angry old dude, how's the leak?" Shaggy asked him, but he didn't answer.
He was turned towards the cabinet and walked over to it. He reached to the top shelf and found what he was looking for. "Aha! I knew there was some left," he said and then turned back to Eustace. "Hey Uncle Eustace like, you want more t-"
However, he stopped when he looked at him and saw something peculiar in front of him. The water had stopped dripping and one drop was currently hovering in front of his face... and looked like it had arms and a face. And the face looked exactly like the mystery woman from before.
"Zoinks! Scooby! Courage!" Shaggy desperately let out a terrified cry. But the drop was prepared. It looked at Shaggy and held up a finger once more. And like before, Shaggy froze in his steps and just stared at her, Shaggy's arms went limp and fell to his sides and his mouth hung open, he begin to feel more relax.
Scooby and Courage had heard Shaggy's cried for help, as they opened the door and both screamed. They both looked towards Shaggy and must have realized he couldn't do anything as they just stood there and shook.
"Raggy!" Scooby yelled out, desperately trying to get his best friend's attention.
"Eustace," the woman said again as she pulled out what looked like a perfume bottle.
She sprayed a small amount of whatever was in the bottle onto Eustace's face. He was annoyed by it for a second, but his annoyance was replaced with bliss as he smiled and moaned happily once more.
"Shaggy," the woman said as she turned to the trance cowardly teen and splashed more water into his face.
This time, the feeling made him want to go to wherever she is, Shaggy no longer had the mental capacity to think, let alone find a way out. The two dogs had clearly seen enough as they both ran from the door and away. Shaggy stumbled back into the chair.
The woman winked at Eustace, before the water droplet turned back to normal and the water began dripping into the bucket once more. Once she was gone, Shaggy was free from the bewitchment he had endured from the woman and felt a little dizzy. So much so that he didn't even notice his uncle was now sitting in the water bucket with the water dripping onto his face. He was broken out of it completely though as soon as he saw his aunt, Courage and Scooby walking into the kitchen, with the two dogs looking worried for their friend. Muriel frowned and shook her head at the sight of Eustace just sitting in the bucket, goofy smile plaster on his face.
Muriel tsked and said, "Oh Eustace, you don't look so well. Let's get you to bed now."
Eustace didn't argue as he simply got up out of the bucket and walked out of the room, still in a daze. Muriel turned her attention to Shaggy and shook her head again.
"Shaggy dear, are you sure you're okay?" Muriel asked, her eyes were flashing with worry.
Shaggy shook his head clear, give his aunt a nervous smile and said, "Y-Yeah. L-Like I'm fine. Found the tea," he nervously chuckled.
Muriel still walked over to him and placed a hand to Shaggy's forehead, possibly checking for a fever.
"You feel alright, but it might be best if you got up to bed as well. Just to be safe," Muriel told him.
Shaggy wanted to argue and tell her about what was going on with this mysterious woman. But it would most likely make his aunt think he was feverish even more. So he decided to just do as his aunt had asked of him and simply nodded his head.
Muriel smiled and nodded adding, "I'll have a cup of tea ready for ya when you're done."
But Scooby and Courage knew otherwise, looked at Shaggy with concerned, there was something more going on then a simple fever.
Shaggy sighed in contentment as he dried his hair off. The tub was already draining of water and he couldn't be more relieved. The entire time he was in the bath, he kept worrying and jumping to every sound to that the creepy woman would appear and try to haunt him like she's been haunting his uncle. But thankfully nothing had happened and now he just wanted to get to bed.
He finished drying off and slipped into his pajamas. As he did, he began to ponder a few things. If she's after Uncle Eustace and and me, why was like, she didn't acknowledge Scooby or Courage he thought to himself, that thought scared him, why did she want him and Eustace? He was pulled out of his thoughts as someone began pounding on the bathroom door and making him jumped.
"Shaggy haired-fella are you almost finished? I need to take a bath too," came Eustace's voice.
"Oh..um..Yeah!" Shaggy said, coming back to his senses, and opened the bathroom door.
Eustace had his usual grumpy glare as he walked past Shaggy and said, "About time. Some of us have to clean up as well."
"Uh huh.." Shaggy mumbled, he wasn't in a mood to argue right now.
"Whatever," Eustace grumbled as he slammed the door shut.
Shaggy rolled his eyes and heard the sound of his aunt and his dog approaching. He turned to see them near the top of the stairs with Muriel carrying a plate and a cup of steaming tea in hand. Shaggy smiled a little in relief as he walked over.
"Here you are dear," Muriel said as Shaggy took the cup. "Nice and fresh."
Shaggy sipped the tea a little and said, "Thanks. Like, I needed that."
"Raggy?" the dog nudge his nose against the back of Shaggy's hand. "Rare you okay?"
His human friend remained silent, "Hm?" finally he looked up from his cup to see Scooby wide brown eyes full of concern. "I'm fine...just tired."
Shaggy reached over to scratch the back of the Great Dane's ear with a smile.
Courage was wearing a shower cap on his head and a towel wrapped around his waist. He just wanted this day to be over, he hope nothing bad will happened to Eustace, although he was more worried about Shaggy, it was not like him to stare off into space for so long. As he opened the bathroom door, he was met with a horrified sight. The lady was back and once again Eustace was staring at her. He gasped in horror as the woman splashed water onto Eustace with a bucket. He howled with distress, as he ran to get his family. He reached up to with, with fear in his eyes.
Courage pointed to the bathroom door, doing his usual babbling that they couldn't understand before morphing into a puddle again and then into large monstrous fish holding a tiny Eustace and then back to himself.
Shaggy and Scooby looked at each other in fear as they immediately knew what Courage was saying. They went over to the bathroom door and Courage tried turning the handle, but the thing wouldn't budge. So Courage decided to just kick the door open to impressive effect. By then however, the woman was gone, but Eustace was thankfully still there. Only now, his head was inside the drain. How exactly that happened was anyone's guess.
Muriel let out a gasp and exclaimed, "Oh my! I'm beginning to worry about you Eustace. Tomorrow we're off to see the doctor, that's all there is to it. That goes for you too Shaggy."
Shaggy looked at his aunt in confusion and asked, "Me? Like, why me?"
"You've been acting a little like Eustace tonight. I just want to make sure you aren't catching whatever he's catching as well. Now off to bed with ya both," Muriel said and that was it.
Shaggy knew that arguing with his aunt was pointless. Not that his aunt was stubborn, but arguing with him would only make her worry even more. Deciding to listen to his aunt, Shaggy gave his the tea cup and thanked her for the tea. He and Scooby walked up to their room and went to the window on the far side of the room. They both looked out to where the dark puddle still lie. Shaggy was shaking pretty badly, we he went to climb himself into bed still sitting up and hug his knees.
"Raggy?" Scooby said hesitantly noticing his distress and looking pretty frightened. "Rhat's wrong?" he asked.
Shaggy's head shot up at Scooby's voice and he looked at him, the look in his eyes scared the Great Dane more than anything else had so far. Scooby walked up to him and enveloped him in a hug. He seemed to calm down by this action.
"Scoob old pal, I'm scared. What if she like, gets me?" the hollow voice of the usually cheerful Shaggy grated at the Great Dane's heart.
"Rit's okay Raggy," Scooby whispered, the Great Dane laying down beside said teen, Shaggy pulled his buddy into his arms "RI'll protect you, Raggy."
Shaggy smiled, grateful to have his companion by his side.
It was now late and the couple and Courage were fast asleep. It was all peaceful when suddenly, Courage woke up, as he opened his eyes to a door handle jiggling. His heart was now beating faster than normal, even though the door was locked it didn't so well to quell his fear. Suddenly the woman appeared before in a flesh.
He let out a terrified scream the moment he saw her, he dove under the covers shaking with fear. "This can't be happening," he whimpered to himself.
"Eustace," the woman said sinisterly, vet voice was sending chills down to the pink beagle's spine. He was under the blankets for about a another minute before he fearfully peaked and saw that Eustace was gone.
Courage went over to the window and gasped in horror as his fears were finally confirm, the woman was carrying Eustace, while he was still asleep. She disappeared into the puddle along with Eustace. Dimly Courage became aware that he could hear whirling in his head, as if he thrust himself into an enormous nest of bees. His legs wouldn't support him anymore, he felt himself falling and a soft surge of darkness enfolded him.
Shaggy was wide awake he couldn't sleep, he stared at the dark sinister puddle, a sense of fear and foreboding made his heart race and kept him from relaxing, his mind wouldn't stop wandering from his early encounters of that witch today. "It's just a puddle," he whispered to himself, rationalizing that nothing more bad would happen tonight, but this did not calm him down in the slightest. "It's just a puddle. It's just a puddle."
Scooby scrabbled around behind him and launched himself onto the bed, burrowing down into the mattress. Shaggy glanced back at him, and then glanced to the door, and was spooked to see the woman before him standing with a creepy smile.
Shaggy let out a shriek of horror, he instantly stepped backwards, as quickly as he could, his back soon meeting the woody wall of the attic. A shiver of fear ran down his spine, he had seen creepy ladies before (including the werecats) but this? This was horrifying on so many levels. Another shirek left his lips when that water demon approached him.
"Shaggy," the woman said in a eerie voice.
Panic was rising inside of Shaggy, as his stomach dropped with fear and he was about to call out for help scream to Scooby, Courage or even Muriel for help.
"Aren't you a helpless child?" the lady cooed, moving her hands to Shaggy's chin, making him shudder. "You must be exhausted, maybe you want to rest…relax…drift off…" the woman in black's voice echoed in Shaggy's head, as she spray his face with water.
Shaggy froze. The cowardly teen tried his hardest to resist the siren's temptation, but her voice proved to be a challenge to ignore. Shaggy tried to fight it, but couldn't. The evil woman loomed over him, grinning evilly at him. The poor cowardly teen's mind started to fade, he could no longer fight back.
The woman gave out an evil chuckle, "That's better….now sleep," she said.
Shaggy could feel himself getting sleepy and sleepy as the woman sang a lullaby to him. Shaggy couldn't break free, he couldn't move, he couldn't speak, his mind had gone blank and he then finally passed out, as he fallen to the floor.
Scooby peaked out of his bed and watched in horror, as Shaggy fallen into a deep sleep. "Raggy? Raggy!" Ron't take him!
Scooby prepared to flung at Shaggy's tormenter, when The woman wagged a finger in the Great Dane's direction and said, "No no."
Scooby tried to ignore her, but he found it hard to keep his thoughts focused when that evil lady stared at him. Scooby desperately tried to look away, but soon felt a loud yawn burst out of his lungs, as his eyes grew heavier and heavier, he begin to feel even more relax, any thought of resistance was futile, as his thoughts are now in a state of eternal bliss. And he slumps into the ground, the last thing he saw before blacking out, was the woman carrying Shaggy way.
Courage groaned as he slowly opened his eyes, blinking several seconds to get used to the morning light that was shining through the window. It took him several minutes to remember what had happened last night. The woman took Eustace…. He then could hear something. It sounded muffled, but the more he listened to it, the clearer he could hear it. It sounded like someone was crying. Not just any someone, it was Muriel. Muriel was a tough woman, so hardly anything could truly upset her. Unless something happened to someone she loved. Courage went down to the kitchen as Muriel sat in one of the chairs, just crying her eyes out. She held a tissue to her eyes as the tears just poured from her eyes.
Muriel sniffled some more and between sobs she rasped, "Eustace is gone! Oh my Eustace! I knew something was wrong!"
She continued to sob uncontrollably, her wails of grief split the quiet air, despite Courage tried to pour her a cup of tea, but Muriel didn't even raise her head to acknowledge it. So he then tried to offer her an ice cream sundae, but still got the same result. Animal balloons didn't work either, neither did a Punch and Judy show that Courage quickly tried to perform. Even whacking himself on the head with a frying pan proved fruitless. No matter what Courage tried, nothing could provide Muriel the comfort she needed.
"I want my Eustace," Muriel sobbed.
Seeing nothing was working, Courage walked into the living room. "There is only one thing left to do," he said with a wine. "And I won't like it."
Suddenly, he heard Scooby terrified screams from upstairs that reach his ears, "ROURAGE!"
"SCOOBY!" Courage cried out, he dashed up stairs and into the attic, as fast as he could, when he opened to door, right in front of him saw a terrified Scooby, but with no Shaggy, he immedtialy knew what happened.
"Rh-Rhe took Raggy," Scooby whimpered, with tears of panic watering in his eyes. What was gonna happen to Shaggy?
Courage went over to his friend and give him pat to comfort the distress dog, as he shook with sobs that rose inside his throat, "Don't worry Scooby, we'll get Shaggy back," he said in determination. We'll save you Shaggy. He promised to himself.
A few minutes later, the two dogs were wearing SCUBA gear and were now near the puddle.
"Ah, the things I do for love," Courage said, as he put the goggles on his eyes.
Scooby was putting the googles on, when noticed something alarming. "Rait. Ris this puddle getting smaller?" he asked in fear.
Taking a closer look, Courage saw that it was indeed getting smaller. "It is getting smaller. We better hurry before it closes up," he said anxiously, before jumping in.
Ron't worry Raggy. Re're coming. Scooby thought while, taking a few deep breathes and putting the oxygen piece in his mouth, he jumped in the puddle.
From here, the two swam deeper into the water. It didn't take them long to figure out where they were supposed to go. After passing a few items that looked more at home in a child's fishbowl, like a sunken ship or treasure chest, they noticed an ominous looking castle in the distance. Sure it still looked like the type of castle you'd see in any fishbowl, but there was something a bit more frightening about it. The dark texture of the castle combined with the actual iron fence that Scooby and Courage had to swim over was enough to already give them chills. It became even more so as they got closer and Scooby noticed something even worse.
"Rourage, come here," he whimpered, as he pointed towards the ground and Courage's eyes went wide as well.
Littered all around them were bones. Human bones. Many, many human bones.
"Row many people were dumped here?" Scooby gasped as horror began to dawn on him.
"And how deep does this pile go?" Courage gulped.
Scooby got a better look at some of them and noticed that a few of them were wearing colorful necklaces. Before he could examine any more of them, Courage grabbed his wrist and began tugging at his arm. Scooby suddenly remembered that for every second they wasted there, the less likely they'd be able to save Shaggy and Eustace. Taking one last glance at the skeletons scattered about, he followed Courage once again. Swimming as fast as they could.
They swam about the towers, peeking into each one in a desperate bid to find Shaggy and Eustace. It wasn't until Courage looked into one of the highest tower that he finally found them. He signaled Scooby over and he came swimming right over to him. They both peeked through the hole and saw Shaggy and Eustace in the tower, both sitting inside a giant oyster, the silly grins plastered all over their faces and making sighs of contentment.
And standing before them was the same creepy looking woman.
"Rit's like she's a queen or something," Scooby whispered to the little pink beagle.
"You could say that again," Courage whispered in agreement.
The queen danced before Shaggy and Eustace in a rather seductive manner. The more she danced, the more pleasure it seemed to bring to the two victims. The two dogs couldn't help but feel a creeping sense of dread. This woman had spent the evening the day before terrorizing them while seducing Shaggy and Eustace. The queen finished her dance and then turned towards the treasure chest that she was keeping in the room. She reached inside and pulled out two necklaces made up various colored seashells.
"Why does that look familiar?" Courage thought as he racked his brain trying to remember. As he tried to remember, Scooby tugged on his arm.
Courage looked to him, the Great Dane looked horrified and he pointed back down at the ground where all the skeletons were piling up. Courage couldn't tell what he was pointing at at first. But as he narrowed his gaze, he got a better look at them. The skeletons he had seen earlier were wearing them as well. And as his eyes scanned over the human remains piled about, a grizzly horror dawned on him. It wasn't just a few skeletons that were wearing them.
Every last one was wearing a necklace.
Courage went wide eyed in horror and wailed, "Oh no!"
"Re have to get them out of here now!" Scooby cried out in a whisper.
They looked back inside to see the queen draping the two necklaces around Eustace's and Shaggy's necks with them none the wiser.
"Eustace, Shaggy," she whispered once more.
The duo continued to watch as the next part began. The queen grinned, only now her mouth was filled with extremely sharp teeth. Her fingers grew longer and gnarly and they watched as her form turned more and more monstrous. The creepy looking queen they had seen earlier now had an elongated mouth and stood taller and more menacing than she had been before.
The two cowardly dogs let out an involuntary squeals of fear and as soon as they had done that, the queen turned her head in their direction and let out a vicious growl.
Scooby looked back at Courage and instructed, "Re have to move now. Rourage, you try to get Raggy and Rustace away from here. Ri'm going to distract that monster."
Scooby normally doesn't like being bait and when he was solving mysteries with Shaggy, Velma, Daphne or Fred to lead the monster, unless he and Shaggy were bribe with Scooby Snacks. But he was desperate to save his best friend, and he was not about leave Shaggy to his horrible fate.
This was not up for debate since they had no time to do so. Courage just did as he was told and swam off towards the sunken ship among the items that had passed earlier. Scooby turned back to the evil queen who now had her sights back on Shaggy and Eustace. She opened her mouth wide, ready to take her first bite out of Shaggy first. Feeling a protective instincts in his blood, it gave him just enough speed to tackle into the queen and knock her off balance.
For a moment at least. The evil queen began thrashing about, trying to throw Scooby off of her. But Scooby had his arms wrapped tight around the queen's neck, trying hard to pull her away from Shaggy and Eustace. Before long, the queen was able to pull herself closer to Shaggy once more. So Scooby just had to tighten his arms around the queens neck.
"Rourage please hurry!" Scooby called out as the queen began trying to pry the big dog's arms off of her.
The moment that Scooby had bought Courage, paid off as the pink beagle makeshift two fishing lines fly through the window and latch onto the pant legs of Shaggy's and Eustace's pajamas. Courage quickly pulled them out of the tower and away from the monster. The queen roared in fury at the sight of her meals being pulled away and Scooby took this moment to release the queen and whacked her once with his tail.
Scooby began swimming away from the castle and followed behind Courage. Courage swam quickly for the gate instead of going over it like Scooby was trying to do.
"Rourage go over-" but he was too late as the gates suddenly slammed closed, stopping Courage as his momentum caused him to slam into the gates. "Rwimming over it would have been a better idea."
"Can you please warn me a little earlier next time," Courage asked, dizzily, shaking his head.
Scooby, gave a sheepish grin and shrugged his shoulders. Before they could do anything else, there was a hideous roar and Scooby watched as the queen came surging through the water, straight for Shaggy, Eustace and Courage, mouth wide open to take a bite.
"ROURAGE! RATCH OUT!" Scooby cried out in alarm.
Courage was able to dodge her quickly, causing the queen to bite into the iron gate, ripping a large mass of it off. The two dogs were swimming over the sea of bones with Shaggy and Eustace.
But out of nowhere, the queen shot up through the pile of bones. Courage screamed as Scooby grabbed a solitary bone and jammed it into the queen's open mouth, preventing her from biting them.
"'Upid 'Og!" the queen shouted at Scooby as she tried to force her mouth closed.
Courage took a skull and whacked the queen on the head with it a few times before he and Scooby swim off. The queen watched as the four made their way back up to the tower where she'd been keeping Shaggy and Eustace. With one powerful snap of her jaws, the queen crushed the bone in her mouth and dashed after them once more.
To her amazement, Eustace was sitting in the giant oyster again and she decided to take the opportunity to have her meal. Right as she was about to take a bite out of the farmer, Courage yanked on his line and pulled Eustace away to safety. The queen didn't have time to stop and so she hit her head on the oyster and Scooby pushed on the lid and caused it to come down on top of the queen.
The queen screamed in fury and began pounding on the oyster shell from the inside. Parts of it sounded like they were already straining under her tirade. "WHEN I GET OUT OF HERE I'M GONNA!" the queen screamed before her words became incomprehensible.
Courage swam up to the Great Dane and said, "That's not gonna hold her long. We need to go. NOW!"
They both swam out of the castle, swimming OVER the gate this time instead of trying to go through it. Up ahead they could see the light of the surface, but the light was fading quickly as it started to close up. They swam faster, desperately trying to reach the surface before it was too late. And right as the both reached the source of the light, it vanished. Courage crashed into the ceiling of the body of water and lost his grip on the lines that was dragging Shaggy and Eustace.
"Raggy!" Scooby grabbed onto his and Eustace's legs to keep them from drifting back down to the floor.
They heard a roar and looked down to see the queen coming up to them once again. The two dogs panicked, as they desperately search another way out, and soon both spotted another source of light. As Scooby looked at it, he saw some of the familiar furniture of the farm house living room and nodded.
"Rourage, let's go!" Scooby said to him.
Courage nodded in approval and Scooby handed Eustace and Shaggy's leg each to him and they swam for the other puddle as well. Sure enough, they both broke the surface of the water with Shaggy and Eustace in tow and tumbled into the living room.
"OH! EUSTACE! COURAGE! SHAGGY! SCOOBY!" Muriel cried, completely surprise at what just happened.
Courage wasted no time in grabbing a hair drier and began using it on the puddle of Muriel's tears, quickly drying them up. And just at the last second, the puddle was gone and a bump suddenly hit the floor. This was followed by the sound of the queen ranting and raving as her voice began to fade. Both Courage and Scooby sighed in relief, knowing that they had just beaten the queen in her own element.
"Your back. Oh, Eustace your back," Muriel said relieved as she helped him stand up straight. Yet despite escaping form the lady, Eustace was still in the trance. "Where have you been?!" In her fury, Muriel pulled out her rolling pin and whacked Eustace once on the head with it.
This broke the bewitchment on Eustace as he screamed out in pain, rubbed the top of his head and asked, "What did I do?"
Courage breath out in with relief, everything was back to normal.
"Raggy!"
Courage immediately got up, he almost forgot about his friend, he went over the Great Dane, as they both now stand over to the cowardly teen, as he was back to his senses.
"Ugh..." Shaggy began as soon as he straightened himself up. "...Like, what happened?" he questioned as he rubbed his forehead and looked at the two dogs in confusion.
"RAGGY!/SHAGGY!"
Suddenly, Shaggy was pulled into a group hug by the two dogs.
"Whoa..." Shaggy stated as he laughed nervously. Then, the two dogs pulled away from him. "...What happened?" he repeated as he eyed Scooby and Courage with confusion.
"You mean, you don't remember anything?" Courage wondered, as he eyed Shaggy with surprise.
Shaggy shook his head, "Remember what?" he questioned as he frowned.
"Rou and your uncle were kidnapped by that lady!" Scooby answered.
"Like, I was..." Shaggy began, as he looked around with interest.
Shaggy wondered as he looked at Scooby who nodded in confirmation.
"Yeah," Courage explained as he smiled suddenly and patted Shaggy on the shoulder. "But, that's all over now, me and Scooby saved you both."
"Like, thanks for rescuing us guys," Shaggy grinned in gratitude, as he pulled the two dogs into a another hug.
It was now nighttime at the farm, and Courage was in the bathroom taking a bath. When he heard a bubbling sound. Just like from the puddle that led him and Scooby into that undersea world. He saw that queen had come back except this time, in the shape of a dog. She winked at him, with Courage starting at the readers with a worried glance.
