It was noon, and the family, were outside enjoying the fresh air. Eustace recovered from boil boil and was now cleaning his truck, Shaggy, Scooby and Courage were sitting on the porch playing cards, Muriel was next to them playing her sitar. Then there was a strange sound, the ground started to rumble a bit. Shaggy, Scooby and Courage looked around dread rosing up in them, they fearing that it was an earthquake, but that left their minds when the family saw a giant flame suddenly appear near the farm followed by a giant rocket landing a moment later.
"OOO!" Eustace and Muriel gasped in surprise and wonderment.
"Whoa/Rhoa," Shaggy, Scooby and Courage said in unison amazed at seeing a rocket ship, but also, in slight fear as what could be inside that ship could be hostile.
A moment later, a gigantic red robot with a visor for a face, appeared holding a furled flag. The ramp then slowly brought the robot down to the ground as it let the flag unfurl itself to reveal it had an image of the robot, it then raised the flag in an almost triumphant stance.
"Oh, my," Muriel exclaimed, worried at what might happen.
Terror filled Shaggy, Scooby and Courage immediately, as they watch the robot coming towards them
"Zoinks!" Shaggy exclaimed in fear, as Scooby jumped into his arms.
Courage screamed before jumping into Scooby's arms.
"Eustace, I didn't know we were expecting company," Muriel told him thinking that this robot was a guest.
"Like, Aunt Muriel, I don't think he's a guest," Shaggy gulped anxiously.
"Hey, who the heck do you think you are? Get that tin off my property!" Eustace demanded.
"My name is Robot Randy! I am the greatest and most powerful robot in the universe!" the robot shouted, before slamming the flag onto the ground, right above the water pump, absolutely destroying it.
"That's it, I'm getting me mallet," Eustace declared before walking to the house.
"Like, I don't think that's a good idea Uncle Eustace," Shaggy whimpered out.
"YOU DARE CHALLENGE MY POWER?!" Randy screamed.
The blood drained from Shaggy, Scooby and Courage's faces at the robots barking question.
"Bah!" Eustace scoffed, before turning back to the house.
Shaggy, Scooby and Courage saw that the yellow part on top of Randy's head opened up with what appeared to be a laser gun coming out a moment later.
"RAKE COVER!" Scooby shouted.
Shaggy and Courage didn't need to be told twice, as Courage picked up Muriel, as he, Shaggy and Scooby ran out of the way, as Randy fired a green laser at the house. Destroying the entire upper part of it.
An half an hour later, the family were now slaves for the robot, and were dressed in rags. Right now, the robot was on top of the barn cutting a plank of wood with a knife. As for the family, they're on the ground picking at rocks to use to make more giant statues of Randy.
The burning sun cooked the cowardly trio's backs, their muscles ached from hours of work, but even worse was the sound of the barking orders from the robot.
Courage was getting exhausted with picking at the rocks, he felt so dizzy, his body was weak, he was hungry and thirsty and his head hurt too much to focus. The only thing that kept him working despite everything, was the fact he and his family were being watched, a cold soulless metal monster fixing on them and examining their movements. Sure, he screamed and ran a lot with Shaggy and Scooby, but this was nothing compared with actual labor, him and his family were forced to do.
Courage was tired and his rag was nearly soaked in sweat, his arms were soon reaching that limit that he accidentally hit Eustace with the pickaxe. Eustace screamed in pain while holding his foot that was enlarged, Eustace's screaming in pain, got the attention of Shaggy and Scooby, as they saw the worry and exhaustion in Courage's eyes.
"Rare you okay Rourage?" Scooby asked in concerned, as he noticed he looked very tired.
Before, Courage could reply, Eustace grabbed him by the neck and began to strangle him.
"YOU STUPID DOG!" Eustace yelled.
Before either Shaggy and Scooby could stop him, Randy threatenedely boomed, "GET BACK TO WORK!"
"Yes sir!/Res sir!" Shaggy, Scooby and Courage said in unison, as they quickly went back to their posts.
But Eustace, as always, was stubborn and refuse to obliuge. "He hit me, it's all his fault," he complained.
"GET BACK TO WORK!" Randy warned one last time.
"Make me," Eustace argued.
In response, Randy got out his laser again and shot Eustace, leaving him a charcoal mess. "OOW!"
Next the family were forced to stomp on the sludge.
"Like, this is tiring," Shaggy panted, in exhaustion, he felt he was going to die if this kept going.
"Reah," Scooby agreed breathlessly, also exhausted, he felt utterly awful.
Courage was lagging onto his back paws, he let out a soft groan, didn't that robot realized how much him and his family needed a break? But he also didn't want to let his friends get into trouble, "Guys, we gotta keeping working or Randy's gonna-" he began, but stopped when slimy disgusting sludge suddenly hit his and Scooby's faces, turning around, both of the dogs saw Eustace grinning which told them that he threw it.
"Stupid dogs," Eustace grinned with a cackle.
"Roh, real mature Rustace," Scooby said sarcastically, as he and Courage wiped the sludge from their faces.
Only for Eustace to throw some more sludge at Scooby and Courage.
"Muriel, Muriel," Courage whined, as he pulled the skirt of Muriel's rag.
"Rustace, keeps throwing sludge at us," Scooby complained to the old woman.
"Eustace, isn't life hard enough?" Muriel asked, while wiping off some sweat from her forehead.
"Not for those dogs," Eustace remarked, before laughing.
Shaggy was annoyed and angry at his uncle for messing with his friends, and throw some sludge into his face.
"Hey!" Eustace spat, giving a glare to his nephew.
"Like, you started it," Shaggy retorted, as he was not in a mood to be intimidated by his uncle.
Only for Eustace to grab a bunch of sludge and throw it at Shaggy, but the cowardly teen ignore him, as he kept stomping on the ground. Shaggy then heard loud footsteps coming from behind him, Turning around, he nearly jumped in fright when the cowardly teen saw Randy tapping his foot impatiently. He then pulled out his laser and shot Eustace, turning him into dust this time, Eustace growled despite being dust.
That night, Randy send his slaves to sleep and told them they got a lot a work tomorrow, Shaggy took this opportunity and went back into the remains of the house and filled a glass of water. Shaggy then brought it over to his aunt and helped her to drink it.
"Thank you Shaggy dear, best we get to sleep now," Muriel said before laying down and almost falling asleep instantly.
Shaggy went over to his tired friends, feeling exhausted after working all day.
"Like, boy, am I tired," a fatigue Shaggy said.
"Reah, me too Raggy," Scooby said, as he laid down on the ground.
Courage notice how exhausted, Muriel, Shaggy and Scooby are, if they continued too keep this up, they'll be working themselves to death.
I don't know how long we could keep this up. He thought.
Shaggy lay down on the ground and surrender to his exhaustion, he couldn't fight it any longer, he just wanted to go to sleep. He drifted off to sleep several minutes later, he was vaguely aware of sounds that Scooby and Courage made, as they both laid down next to him, but nothing could pull out of his exhausted sleep completely.
Scooby rolled on his side, getting ready for the bedtime he welcomed with open arms, "Right Courage," he yawned, before closing his eyes already feeling his mind drifting away for a good enticing sleep, he lost consciousness, defeated by the exhaustion he had caused himself.
Courage saw how fast his two friends fell asleep, making him wanting to do the same. He was tired. So tired. He laid onto the ground and closed his eyes, and in seconds he was asleep.
Courage woke with a start, struggling for breath, he blinked several times, Courage couldn't quite remember where he was. Was he still in bed with his owners. No wait...the robot, becoming slaves! Then his mind drift back, he had that NIGHTMARE. Again. "It was only a dream," he whispered to himself. His throat felt raw, like something really had choked him, "It wasn't real, just a terrible nightmare.
But the experiences he went through on that DAY was real, and he knew he couldn't deny that. If only that day wasn't real. He thought with sorrow. Courage glanced over at his friends to see if Shaggy and Scooby had both witnessed his night terror. But they're still asleep, Courage felt a rush of relief, that was a small miracle. The last thing he needed was his friends asking questions about his nightmare.
Suddenly, Courage's ears picked up a loud noise coming from the barn. the pink beagle got up from his spot. "Psst. Shaggy, Scooby wake up," he said, softly touching their legs.
The cowardly teen opened his eyes, and petted Courage's head, "What is it little pink dude?"
Scooby's eyes fluttered open and he saw his small canine friend come into focus, "Rhat's this all about?"
"I saw light coming from that barn. Come on," Courage urged to his two friends, as they quietly made their way over to the barn.
Though, the three did wish they've did not have the rags on as they were chafing a bit. Getting to the barn, Shaggy, Scooby and Courage peeked inside and were surprised to see the amount of wooden reindeer about the pace. And in the center of the room, Randy was whittling another one. He finished making it then examined it. Had he been a human, the three were sure he would be smiling at what he made.
"I'm going to name you Ivana. That's a good reindeer name," he said before putting down the reindeer. "I wish I didn't have to conquer worlds and destroy things. I wish, I could make reindeer all the time. But robots don't make reindeer, if anyone found out, they'd laugh at me," the robot then picked up the reindeer before going into a fetal position.
"They'd think I'm a failure. A FAILURE!" Randy said shamefully, before shouting and tossing the reindeer through the window Shaggy, Scooby and Courage were watching him through. Luckily, he did not spot them.
"Huh, that giant robot whittles reindeer?" Courage asked in confusion, wasn't this the robot that force them as slaves? He felt conflicted as he watch the robot looking miserable.
"Oh, like, now it makes sense," Shaggy said, as he couldn't help but felt a rush of sympathy for the giant robot, he knew what it was like to be different. "This mechanical dude's not really a bad guy, he only acts like this 'cause he's afraid of being different from all those other robots he mentioned. Huh, like, even though he still scares us, part of me can't help but feel bad for the poor guy."
"Reah, poor Randy," Scooby agreed with his owner, despite that everything that Randy has done, he felt pity for the robot.
Courage give a glance to his two friends, for truly his two hungry buddies both have good hearts, even if someone is even a villain having a pretty bad life, they would have their sympathy. But for right now, he wanted his friends to get away from the barn now, for he didn't want them harmed. "I think we should go before we risk getting caught," he suggested.
The two friends nodded, before leaving the barn area, but not before Courage grabbing the reindeer, that Randy had threw out the window.
It was now morning, the sun was beginning the rise, bringing light to the farmland once more. Shaggy, Scooby and Courage came up back and saw that Muriel and Eustace were getting back to work and picking at the rocks.
Courage went over to Muriel and said, "Muriel look, the robot built a reindeer."
Muriel although couldn't understand him, admire, the reindeer the pink beagle brought.
"Why Courage, that's lovely," Muriel complemented. "Did you make it?"
"Like no, he didn't Aunt Muriel," Shaggy explained, wondering how they're gonna explain that it was Randy who made it.
"But, Courage were did you get it?" Muriel asked.
"Ruriel, he got it from-" before Scooby could finished, Randy came up to them shadowing the family, making the trio's hearts stopped.
Randy screamed, ""GET BACK TO WORK!"
Shaggy, Scooby and Courage give out whimpers of fear, as Courage hid the the reindeer in his rags.
"Yes sir!/Res sir!" Shaggy, Scooby and Courage responded in unison, as immediately grabbed pickaxes and hammered the rocks.
It was now later in the day, the sun was high in the sky and blazing down upon the family, it was even hotter than yesterday. Right now, the family were struggling to pull a large stone block up a steep incline. They had tied a rope around it to make it easier but it still proved difficult. They're were making progress but only very little. And it was made even harder as the family were sweating profusely, which made it harder to keep their grip on the rope. The urge the giving up was so very strong, but the simple thoughts of what repercussions would await the cowardly trio was enough to kill any courage the three had left.
"Oh," Muriel moaned drowsily. "Oh, my."
"AUNT MURIEL!" Shaggy screamed as he, Scooby and Courage saw her faint from exhaustion.
Shaggy immediately moved to her side and started to fan her with the fan Courage gave him while he went to her other side and gave her some cold water, Scooby had a big leaf to give the woman some shade.
"GET BACK TO WORK!" Randy screamed when he saw Shaggy, Scooby, Courage and Muriel longer working.
"Zoinks!" Shaggy screamed with fright, as he immediately grabbed the rope.
"Rikes!" Scooby cried, as he also grabbed the rope as well.
Courage let out a shriek of terror, as he picked up Muriel before placing the rope in his mouth.
"Stupid dogs! Stupid nephew! Why am I doing all the work?!" Eustace yelled at the trio.
Shaggy was about to respond but stopped when Eustace grinned before letting go of the rope, Shaggy, Scooby and Courage tried to keep their grip on the rope, their entire bodies hurt, though to was nothing compared to the pain they're feeling in their arms and teeth, but they decided to focus on working and resting when they're sure the robot wasn't looking. But their grips started to slip. Soon, Courage's teeth popped out of his head, followed by a intense fiery pain in his mouth, which left Shaggy and Scooby the only ones gripping the rope.
"RIā¦can't hold on much longer," Scooby grunted, feeling his muscles popping out of his sockets on his shoulders, as pain was flaring up. He let go and started to scream with discomfort
Shaggy was now the only one gripping the rope, he give out a scream of agony, as the rope began to seriously burn his hands, like he been putting his hands on fire, forcing him to let go.
And as a result, the giant rock slid off the ramp and hit the statue of Randy that was at the bottom. Which then toppled over and hit the one next to it. This repeated itself over and over for there were thousands of statues next to each other which all fell down and shattered.
"You fools, look what you have done. You made me a failure!" Randy said angrily, flowing in a rage.
Shaggy, Scooby and Courage give out nervous shrieks, knowing they are REALLY in for it now.
"Like, we're sorry mister robo-dude, we can fix it!" Shaggy pleaded, trying to reason with the robot.
But Randy was not in a mood, he then grabbed Muriel, Eustace and Shaggy in his claw. "I'll crush you for this."
"Ro, please!" Scooby begged, feeling helpless and pleading to let his best friend go.
"Please spare them!" Courage sobbed, as tears stream down his cheeks.
"You dare challenge my greatness?" Randy asked surprised.
"We do/Re do," Courage and Scooby both said in unison feeling determination filling in them, as the pink beagle wiped the tears from his eyes, while sniffing.
"I accept your challenge, if I lose, I will free you all. But if you lose, you will perish," Randy declared.
Scooby and Courage gulped, as fear wash over them, but nodded. Randy put Muriel, Eustace and Shaggy in a deep hole and sealing it with the giant rock they're hauling earlier.
"Great work you stupid dog," Eustace said, sarcastically.
"Like, not the time Uncle Eustace," Shaggy said, despite the terror that was boiling inside of him right now, he gave his uncle a unimpressed eyebrow.
Back on the surface, Scooby and Courage were out of their rags, ready to challenge the robot.
"Rhat is the challenge?" Scooby asked, worry at the possibility that they might lose, cold hands climbing up Scooby's spine, his mind began to swirl with questions. Ro we can't give up.
"We shall do what you humans call, a dance off. However, to make it fair as there is two of you and only one of me, only the small dog shall challenge me. You big dog shall sit on the sideline," Randy answered before picking me up and placing Scooby on the side.
He then pulled out a giant piece of cardboard and boombox and placed them on the ground. He turned the boombox on and got into position.
"Rou can do it Rourage!" Scooby shouted as Randy began to dance, hope began to coated his panicking heart, he had seen Courage danced a couple times and he was surprisingly pretty good. And to say that he was impressive was an understatement, he even used yellow dome on his head to his advantage in his dance.
A second later it was Courage's turn, he felt panic jabbed in his heart, what if he lost? What if he lead his family to death, this made him burst into energy with desperation to win, he began slow but quickly picked up the pace and ended with him using his ears to stand upside down.
Now it was Randy's turn, he got onto the cardboard and began to dance even more impressively than the last time.
Courage then got on and began to dance, this time, he moonwalked at first and then ended with him using his tongue to stand. Randy then got onto the stage and began to dance extremely fast, almost too fast. Randy lost control and flew into one of the few remaining statue of himself that were not destroyed.
"YES!" Courage shouted in joy, he did it, he WON!
"Rice going Rourage," Scooby told him while giving him a hi-five.
"Thanks Scoob, but should we go check on Randy," Courage stated, worried as he did take a bit hit from the statue, even though he enslaved them and forced them into labor, he couldn't help but felt sympathy for the giant robot.
Scooby nodded, clearly agreeing with the pink beagle and both dogs went over to him and saw him basically crying at this point.
"I'm such a failure," Randy said while hitting his head with his claws, feeling bad for him, especially when the dogs and Shaggy recalled what they saw last night.
Scooby was about to try and cheer him up but stopped when everyone heard screaming in the distance.
Scooby froze, as he recognized the screams of his best friend and it sounded like he was screaming for his life, "RAGGY!" he cried out, almost forgotten that he and his relatives were still in the hole.
Horrified, Courage screamed,"MURIEL!" as he was now really panicking for his owner and friend.
Back in the hole, Muriel, Eustace and Shaggy were about to be crushed to death by the rock, as the three force themselves to lie down, as the rock was close to squashing them, like bugs.
White-hot panic shot through Shaggy's body, Breathe! Breathe! He managed to sip in some small breathes, but this air wouldn't last long, he knew.
"SCOOBY! HELP!" Shaggy cried out in terror.
The weight of the rock seemed to be getting heavier, like a giant was stepping on him. Stomping on his chest, crushing his bones pressing the air from his lungs.
Randy moved to where he put Muriel, Eustace and Shaggy and removed the rock that was about to flatten them. With it removed, Scooby and Courage reached in and pulled Muriel, Eustace and Shaggy out.
"Raggy, are you alright?" Scooby asked, as pulled his best friend out of the hole.
"Like, yeah," Shaggy replied, as he manage to climb out of the hole, with Scooby's help. "I'm okay Scoob."
"Thank goodness, you two saved us," Muriel said as she hugged, Shaggy, Scooby and Courage.
"Actually, it was Robot Randy who saved you three," Courage corrected, as he pointed to the robot.
"Thank you, Mr. Robot, for sparing our lives," Muriel thanked him.
"Thank you mister robo-dude," Shaggy added, smiling gratefully up at Randy.
"I'm just a failure," Randy said dejectedly.
"Rawwww, you're not a failure," Scooby said, with great sympathy.
"Oh, you must be good at something," Muriel insisted, her eyes glittering with pity.
"No, no, no," Randy answered lowering his head.
"Come on, everyone's is good at something," Muriel said trying to cheer him up.
Shaggy suddenly remembered something, "Like, wait, little pink dude, don't you still have the reindeer you found last night?"
"My reindeer?" Randy asked, confused.
Upon hearing Shaggy's words, for he remember the deer he grabbed last night, "Yeah, I still do, here it is," he answered pulling out the reindeer.
"MY REINDEER! Where did you find this?" Randy shouted happily before asking.
"Did you make that?" Muriel asked, "It's lovely."
"It's nothing. It's just a wooden reindeer," Randy said trying to make it sound like it's not a big deal.
"You're right, you are a failure," Eustace insulted.
This caused, Shaggy, Scooby and Courage to glare at him, luckily, neither Randy nor Muriel heard this.
"What I can't understand is why you need to build all these silly moments and blow things up, you're too talented for that," Muriel told him.
"Do you really think so?" Randy asked.
"Of course, robo-dude!" Shaggy insisted, "Like, anyone who can whittle reindeer out of wood as creative as you is truly talented!"
"Oh, yes. Your reindeer would make lovely gifts," Muriel answered.
"Exactly! Why, you could even run your own wooden reindeer business and make tons of money!" Courage added, before transforming into a present and then a cash register full of money.
"Reah, you would be a big success on your planet!" Scooby nodded, happily.
"Grand idea boys," Muriel said, smiling.
"You're all right! I was so worried of what others would think of me, that I stopped believing in myself. I don't want to destroy things, I want to whittle reindeer," Randy declared in joy.
"What a waste of good wood!" Eustace remarked, as usual not caring.
"Don't listen to him," Courage said while, giving a glare to Eustace, before smiling, as he turned to the robot. "We think your business is gonna do really great!"
"Like, if you wanna sell whittle reindeer to one of your robot friends back home, I'd say go for it!" Shaggy encouraged.
"Rand don't let any other robot tell you otherwise! Rif some cannot accept you for who you are, then they're the ones who should be destroyed!" Scooby said, with a playful smirk and giving the robot a wink.
"You are slaves no more, I cannot undo, what has been done. But I can leave you my entire reindeer collection," Randy said as he gave the family an entire fields worth of reindeer.
Courage cheered, while Shaggy and Scooby, both give the robot a big thumbs up.
"Ooh, how lovely," Muriel said looking at the reindeer.
"Great, now we can rebuilt the farmhouse with these stupid reindeer!" Eustace complained.
Randy ignore him as he said farewell, "I do wish you all, a good day and life." The robot turned to his ship and entering it and leaving.
"He's such a nice robot when he is not about destroying or conquering," Muriel said as the family watched the ship leave the planet.
"Like, I hope he follows what he is passionate about and not let anyone tell him otherwise," Shaggy said hopefully.
"Well, as much as I want to keep these reindeer, we are going to have to use some of these to repair the farmhouse," Muriel said sadly. "Well, better get to it."
"Okay/Rokay," Shaggy, Scooby and Courage said in unison, as the family picked up the reindeer and began to rebuild the house.
