It was the middle of the night and the family were sleeping peaceful in the farmhouse, when suddenly, a noise that sounded like breaking glass made Courage jump wake. Terror filled Courage immediately and he shivered in fright and whimpered. What was that?

Courage went over to his owners and babbled like a madman, and the old couple woke up to see Courage babbled hysterically.

"What is it Courage?" Muriel asked, in a motherly tone.

"I heard glass shatter!" Courage cried in despair, as he transformed into different kinds of monsters. He transformed back into himself and whimpered.

Muriel and Eustace looked at each other and Eustace did what he did best. He threw Courage out of the room.

"Stupid dog!" Eustace growled, as he slammed the door. Leaving Courage all alone.

Courage sighed, Well I know there two people I can ask for help now.

Scooby and Shaggy were sleeping peacefully in the attic, when Courage opened the door and jumped onto Shaggy's bed.

"Guys, wake up!" Courage shouted, he put his paw on Shaggy's shoulder. shaking him.

Scooby and Shaggy opened their eyes and looked at the worried pink beagle.

"Like, what's wrong little pink dude?" Shaggy yawned, as he looked at his alarm clock, it was three in the morning.

"Ris everything okay?" Scooby asked.

"I heard noises, I think someone's in the house," Courage said in worry, his heart began to beat wildly.

"You probably had a bad dream," Shaggy said, with a yawn.

But Shaggy spoke too soon, as the trio heard noises from downstairs, a ripple of fear rushed through them.

"Roh no!" Scooby cried out, now fully awake.

"Zoinks!" Shaggy screeched, also fully awake.

Courage give Shaggy a 'really' look, "You were saying?"

Then more noises were heard from downstairs, this give Shaggy, Scooby and Courage goosebumps, their hearts stuttered in their chests.

"Like, it's coming from downstairs," Shaggy whined, with half panic.

Courage couldn't help but fear that whoever might be downstairs was another supernatural being ready to cause them trouble. It could be a ghost, or a zombie, or a screaming banshee. Neither of them made a move.

Finally, Courage swallowed and said, "I'm scared but, we gotta go down there."

"No," Shaggy shook his head frantically, he didn't wanna go downstairs.

"Yes," Courage replied, with fear, he walked out of the attic door.

"Ro," Scooby whimpered, as Shaggy, climbed out of bed and followed Courage, before he followed his owner out the door.

The trio went to the dining room where the kitchen door was and were all still arguing about investigating

"No," Shaggy whined.

"Yes," Courage responded.

"Ro."

"Yes."

"No."

"Yes."

The trio opened the door to the kitchen, but as soon as they've did, Shaggy, Scooby and Courage heard the sound of dishes rattling, shining their flashlights around, the three saw nothing out of the ordinary. That is, until they've shone their lights on the fridge that was open.

"Huh?" Courage asked, somewhat confused when the trio shone the light at the floor and saw tiny feet in black boots.

The fridge then closed to reveal a rather large man wearing an almost stereotypical burglar suit that you would see people wear in movies, including a mask, a beanie and some rope, but what was most confusing was there was a fish in his mouth.

The cowardly trio screamed in terror.

"ZOINKS! LIKE, IT'S A BURGLAR!" Shaggy screamed in horror.

"RAND HE'S GOT A FISH!" Scooby cried in fear.

"WE GOTTA WARN MURIEL!" Courage shouted.

Before anyone could do anything, the burglar took the fish and smack Shaggy, Scooby and Courage hard with it, sending them spinning in circles really fast before they've stopped and hit the floor. They got really dizzy, feeling the pain from the fish that hit them and before they've could get their heads together, the guy easily grabbed Shaggy, Scooby and Courage, and picked them up easily.

"Zip your mouths shut you three, or I'll be fishing the three of you again I will," the burglar threatened before dropping the trio.

Shaggy, Scooby and Courage grunted when they've hit the floor. Horrified, Shaggy, Scooby and Courage nodded their heads.

"Like, yes mister burglar," Shaggy trembled, not wanting to get even more trouble.

"Re'll keep quiet," Scooby nodded his head really fast.

Courage spit out a zipper before literally zipping his mouth shut.

"Boys? Is everything alright?" Muriel call out.

Oh-no. Shaggy thought with worry and anxiety.

"Zip your mouth shut you three," the burglar demanded as he moved to the side of the door.

And as soon as he did, the door opened with Muriel and Eustace stepping into the kitchen, they looked confused as to why the trio were on the floor. But they didn't have time to ask as the burglar smacked them all with the fish quickly, each hit sent them to the floor.

"Now that wasn't very polite," Muriel scolded, as she turned around to see who hit him, only to scream when she saw the guy clearly when he turned the lights on. "It's a burglar!"

"Okay, mates you three tie up the folks here while I keep an eye out for the law, I got the park rangers on me tail," the burglar ordered Shaggy, Scooby and Courage, handing them the rope before leaving the kitchen.

Scooby, Shaggy and Courage looked at the old couple awkwardly.

"Go ahead already, you stupid burglar-helping dogs and nephew, get on with it," Eustace yelled.

Shaggy, Scooby and Courage look at each other and shrugged, Courage then tossed the rope around them before pulling it tight. This caused Muriel and Eustace to snap instantly back-to-back, Scooby moved in an tied the knot.

"Good job you two, that's a nice tight knot," Muriel said laughing.

"Aunt Muriel, like, you do realize that we're being held hostage by a burglar, right?" Shaggy asked, a little worry.

At this, the family heard some more glass breaking before the burglar returned.

"Re did what you asked us to do, Mr. Burglar sir!" Scooby whimpered worrying of what he was going to do to him and his family, he sat on his knees with his arms raised towards the highest Heaven.

"We'll do whatever it is you want, just please don't fish us again!" Courage, pleaded shakily, as he got down on his knees, awaiting for the burglar's next move.

"Nigel, Arthur, Kingston, why you three tying up Mama Mashedpotatoes and Uncle Twinkletoes?" the burglar asked.

Shaggy, Scooby and Courage looked at the burglar in surprise and confusion.

"Nigel? Arthur? Kingston? Mama Mashedpotatoes? Uncle Twinkletoes?" Courage asked with unease confusion, as he looked around.

"Like, isn't that what you just threatened us to do right before you left the kitchen for a sec, dude?" Shaggy asked, titling his head. Confusion and bewilderment washed over him. There's something weird about this.

"Reah, why are you acting so concerned about us tying up Ruriel and Rustace all of a sudden?" Scooby asked suspiciously with a confuse frown, making sure to keep his guard up. After all this was a burglar they're talking about.

"Also, just who exactly are you anyway and why were you trying to rob us blind?" Courage asked, raising an incredulous eyebrow.

"Fellas, why you all looking at me like you don't know me, I'm your cousin, Basil," the burglar, now Basil told them.

"Basil?/Rasil?" Shaggy, Scooby and Courage asked in confusion and unison.

"He must have us confused for some other folks," Muriel said.

"He's not confused, he's nuts," Eustace yelled angrily.

"Shush, we should all just act natural and do what he says, we don't want to get fished again," Muriel told her family before shivering at the thought of being fished again.

Courage gulped down once more. He wasn't going to forget he and his family were at the mercy of the burglar anytime soon… Still, he didn't want to irritate the burglar any further and, as ridiculous and scary as it was, he decided complying was his best bet at the moment.

"Now fellas untie the family and let's have dinner like always, what?" Basil asked.

"Dinner?/Rinner?" Shaggy and Scooby asked excitedly, at the work 'dinner.'

Courage shook his head at his two friends, thinking to himself. As long as it keeps my friends' mind occupied. Food is a good thing at the moment. He kept thinking about his and his family's situation a lot, but he can't deny this either. It look like the burglar's face looking happy and cheerful, rather than a hostile and mean look they receive moments ago.

All this happened for five minutes, and he is anxious enough to build his guard up in defense. He might ever know when the burglar makes his next move.

"Okay," Courage answered shakily, before moving to untie Muriel and Eustace.

The family, were sitting at the table, while Muriel was bringing out the salad, Shaggy and Scooby of course ate the food Muriel made, while Courage kept his eye on the burglar, to make sure he did nothing to threatened his family, and Eustace was annoyed by the fact we was woken up in the middle of the night. Soon, Muriel was coming out with a bowl of salad.

"This looks great Mama Mashedpotatoes," Basil complimented before turning to Eustace. "Hey. Uncle Twinkletoes. Do your dance."

"I don't do no dance," Eustace said bitterly.

Courage's heart skipped a beat. Farmer, please do as he says! The potential consequences would be horrific, and he did not want any harm come to Shaggy, Scooby and Muriel.

"Don't be so rude to our guest, and his fish," Muriel reminded, "I'll go get the main course."

"Fine," Eustace grumbled as he got up from his chair while Muriel returned to the kitchen.

Courage exhaled a breath of relief, grateful at the stubborn farmer listen to his wife for once. Thank you Muriel.

"Yes," Basil cheered as he got up as well. "Nigel, Arthur, Kingston, Join us."

"Okay/Rokay," Shaggy, Scooby and Courage as the three got up, they feel awkward about doing this. But they want to keep this burglar as happy and pleased as possible.

Heading over, the trio were about to ask what to do when Basil grabbed their hands and paws before telling them to grab Eustace's hands, the family then started to spin in a circle while bouncing up and down as well.

"Yeah, Uncle Twinkletoes, show us how it's done. Step in time, step in time," Basil said laughing.

"Oh, I'm so happy to see everyone having fun," Muriel said as she came back with a bowl of mashed potatoes.

She placed it on the table only for Eustace to be flung face first into it.

"Why are you making the mashed potatoes?" Basil asked as he raised his hands in wonder, forgetting that he was still holding Courage's paw which made the poor beagle hang in the air, that is until a second later when he dropped the dog. "You always make your specialty."

"Mashed potatoes isn't my specialty?" Muriel asked confused.

"Course not," Basil answered.

"Oh, my!" Muriel said, "Then what am I gonna do with these mashed potatoes?"

"I'll eat 'em, Aunt Muriel!" Shaggy said, his mouth watering, at the thought of having some of the delicious mash potatoes in his mouth. He took the mash potatoes from the table and started to gobble it up. "Like, besides, who would want to waste these perfectly, delicious mashed potatoes for anyway?"

"Why, thank you, dear!" Muriel said to her nephew, before turning to the burglar. "Don't you worry, Basil, I'll go get my real specialty." She then went back to the kitchen.

Then there was the sounds of pigs squealing coming from the kitchen.

"Here's my specialty!" Muriel said returning this time with a giant ham.

"This ain't your specialty," Basil said pointing to the ham.

"If you can just give me a little hint," Muriel told him.

"Nigel, you are the only one I can talk to in this family, why don't Mama Mashedpotatoes make her..." Basil began to whisper the rest in the pink beagle's ear.

Courage got the details, as an idea came to him and then use some flags to telegraph Muriel what Basil just told him. It's flounder Muriel, did you get that?

"I was just joking with you Basil, I'll go whip up my good old flounder," Muriel said nervously.

"Rin that case, I'll just take this ham off of your hands, Ruriel," Scooby said, as he grabbed the ham from the old woman's hands, before proceeding eagerly to devour it. He grinned from ear to ear.

"Splendid idea, Scooby. I'll be right back," Muriel said, before heading into the kitchen.

An half an hour later, Muriel had finished making the flounder, before sitting down and sighing in exhaustion.

"MMM, yeah. Did you put in the secret special ingredient?" Basil asked.

"Secret ingredient?" Muriel asked confused, she then looked to Courage, hoping for an answered.

"I don't know," Courage answered while shrugging.

"Eustace?" Muriel asked turning to her husband, only to see that he was sleeping.

Shaggy then stepped in stalling in time to think up a plausible story, "Uh... like, of course, she did, Basil! Mama Mashedpotatoes would never forget about the secret special ingredient!"

"Reah, she always puts it right where it always go in her specialty, isn't that right, Mama Mashedpotatoes?" Scooby added going along with Shaggy's story, before turning to Muriel.

Oh, the secret special ingredient! Oh Yes, so special and secret, I wouldn't even say it out loud," Muriel stated, in pretended mischief.

"Let's see," Basil grunted as he grabbed the plat and flipped it so the flounder was facing him, he then shoved his arm into it. "Here it is, the plans."

"Eustace was right, he is nuts," Muriel said, now worried.

"Really nuts," Scooby agreed, exchanging a a concern glance with Courage.

"Looks like I'm knocking over a jewelry store," Basil said as he looked over the 'plans.'

Shaggy, Scooby And Courage moved closer to see if they could see what he sees, but as they did so, everyone heard sirens coming closer.

"What's going on?" Muriel asked.

"It's the park rangers, hey you three, thought I told you three to tie up the old people," Basil said before slapping Shaggy, Scooby and Courage really hard with the fish again.

The trio grunted as they've spun around very fast from the hit, their faces stinging from the blows.

"Alright. I'll tie them up, and you three get rid of those rangers, or you'll all get you will," Basil ordered.

"Like, I think I like it better, when you had us confuse with the other people," Shaggy groaned.

"Re too," Scooby agreed, while whimpering.

"Okay! Let's go!" Courage shouted, as he, Shaggy and Scooby got up and quickly headed out of the dining room and to the front door.

Getting there, Shaggy opened the door and saw two park rangers there.

"This guy is unpredictable, confused and very dangerous, either of you seen him?" the one with the mustache asked.

"Like, yes we seen him," Shaggy answered, hyperventilating.

"Re's holding our family hostage!" Scooby said, in hysteric.

"Inside, inside!" Courage repeated while bringing out different signs that all basically said the same thing, that Basil was inside the house.

But it seems like Muriel, these two didn't understand them, that or they thought Courage said something entirely different.

"Okay, then, if you do see him, give us a call, sorry to interrupt your sleep," the ranger said while saluting.

"Really?" Scooby asked, in annoyance, as they saw the Ranger return to their car and leave. He couldn't believe how stupid the rangers were.

"Like, what kind of police and park rangers they hired now in days?" Shaggy asked, also annoyed.

"Honestly, we should have seen that coming," Courage said with a sigh.

The cowardly trio went back inside, closing the door they all headed back to the dining room. But didn't see the family, confused, Shaggy, Scooby and Courage decided to head into the kitchen to see if they were there, opening the door, the three saw Eustace and Muriel tied together again. Hearing some rustling, the three looked behind and saw Basil raiding the fridge again.

"Hey, fellas, you ain't got no crumpets! I thought you three was going out to get crumpets, you were all too busy typing up Mama Mashedpotatoes and Uncle Twinkletoes again!" Basil yelled as he slammed the fridge door shut before turning to the nervous three.

"Oh, did we?" Courage laughed nervously.

"Like, whoopsy," Shaggy smiled nervously.

"Rour bad, Rasil," Scooby grinned sheepishly.

Shaggy, Scooby and Courage went to untie Muriel and Eustace.

"You know what this family needs?" Basil asked getting the family's attention, "This family needs to pull a job together," he answered, as he sat down on a chair. "And I got the ideal job, I do."

The family exchanged glances, what kind of job did Basil had in mind?

Shaggy frowned, thinking hard, "Uh…what kind of job dude?"

The family and Basil were in a state known as North Dakota, more specifically, next to a giant carving of four people call Mount Rushmore apparently, the ideal job that Basil had was to steal the heads of Mount Rushmore and hide them with the others, he already had hidden the other three somewhere. It was a clear night, and it was a little chilly that Shaggy, Muriel and Eustace had to bring their coats and Shaggy, Scooby and Courage could almost pretend Basil's job was innocent.

"This feels good fellas, all of us working for a change," Basil said as he raised his pickax to strike the monument again.

"It is quite refreshing," Muriel agreed.

"This stinks," Eustace complained.

"Like, is this illegal?" Shaggy asked, uncertainty squirmed uncomfortably in his stomach, he hope Fred, Velma and Daphne don't find out about this.

"RI never thought I be doing crime," Scooby murmured, in a whine, staring at the rock he's been picking unhappily.

"Me neither Scooby," Courage replied, he really didn't wanna do this either. Maybe there's a phone somewhere that I could call the police, while Basil isn't looking. The thought eased some of the anxious feeling of WRONGNESS inside him.

"When we're done, you can all help me stash this face with the other three," Basil said laughing.

"It's good to be tidy," Muriel stated.

"Mama Mashedpotatoes, you're a pip you are." Basil complimented her.

"Oh, Basil, that's so sweet," Muriel said smiling.

"Like, where are the other three Basil?" Shaggy asked, he wondered what Basil did with the other presidents heads. He needed to get his mind off of what he is doing.

"I've hidden them where no one else can find them," Basil answered before turning to Shaggy, Scooby and Courage. "Nigel, Arthur, Kington, get uncle Twinkletoes to do his dance on Lincoln's nose."

"Uhhh," Shaggy began awkwardly, as he, Scooby and Courage nervously, grinned weakly and turn to Eustace, who was annoyed.

Shaggy was cut off when everyone heard a helicopter approaching, as it reached everybody, it's searchlight turned on and started moving all over Mount Rushmore. Shaggy, Scooby and Courage's stomachs turned cold. The family hugged each other in fear.

Courage clang onto Scooby's back leg in terror, "We've been spotted!" he screamed.

"Aunt Muriel, like, I'm too young to go to jail!" Shaggy yelped, as he cowered behind his aunt.

"Re too!" Scooby clung to his owner in fear.

"There, there, boys, everything will be okay... I hope," Muriel said, trying to comfort them, although she sounded terrified herself.

It's him, officers! He's the one you want, not us!" Eustace pointed out.

"Okay, Basil, the jig's up!" the voice of the Ranger Shaggy, Scooby and Courage met earlier said over a speaker.

Courage howled and lifted his family, as he ran up the steps behind them to make more distance to be safe from what could happen.

Every muscle in Courage's body urged him to creep backward into Lincoln's ear and hide from this drama unfolding below them. It took all his strength to stay where he was. Scooby pressed against his side, as shaken as he was, and he found his warmth comforting.

"Poor Basil, just when I was getting to like him," Muriel said, she sounded worried about him.

"Let's go home," Eustace spat angrily.

"He really wasn't so bad," Muriel ventured turning to her family.

"Yeah, and he won't be so bad in prison neither," Eustace argued.

Shaggy felt a pang of sympathy for the criminal. Sure he may of threatened them, or made them to be part of his crime, but he was a friendly man, despite it all.

"He's hiding in the nose, get him men," the ranger yelled.

"Oh, no, not that," Muriel gasped when the rangers pulled out a giant finger and used it to pick the nose of the statue.

"Rell, that is certainly one way to get someone hiding in a nose," Scooby said surprised at what just a happened.

"They should pick him and flick him,"Eustace said annoyed.

"Nonsense, we got to do something to help Basil, all he wants is a loving family,"Muriel said upset.

Scooby, Shaggy and Courage looked at each other uncomfortably unsure to save him or not.

"Eustace, can you do something?" Muriel asked him.

"Nope," Eustace answered while crossing his arms.

"Oh boys, you have to do something," Muriel told the trio.

"Can't we do it tomorrow?" Courage whined, in a worried tone of a voice.

"Or next week?" Shaggy gulped nervously.

"Ror next year?" Scooby added, with a whimper.

"WE ALMOST GOT HIM! KEEP PICKING!" the Ranger shouted which caused the trio to sigh.

Shaggy, got a box of Scooby Snacks and give it to Scooby and Courage, for bravery. Climbing in Shaggy, Scooby and Courage went in the ear, only for to came back out, as they're covered in ear wax.

"Like, why is there ear wax in a stone president's ear?" Shaggy asked in disgust, man it was gross!

Courage pulled out a giant cotton swab, as he cleaned the wax out and tossed the giant cotton swab at Eustace. "OW!"

"Okay, let's head inside," Courage told his friends.

Nodding, Scooby, Courage and Shaggy went inside the head, and to their surprise, there was many tunnels in the head. Luckily, it was a straight shot to where the nose was, getting there, Basil was struggling to not fall down as the giant finger kept looking for him.

Basil screamed when the finger nearly hit him.

"Like, Basil, grab my hand," Shaggy shouted worriedly, as he reached down to him. But came up short.

Basil grunted as the finger found him.

"Raggy!" Scooby yelled getting his owner's attention. "Rourage and I will hold your feet and lower you down."

Shaggy nodded, as Scooby grabbed his left leg, while Courage grabbed his right leg and lowered him down. Extending his hand, Basil managed to grab the cowardly teen's hand, gripping it tight.

Shaggy yelled back to his two friends. "Got him, pull us up!"

"He's gone, men, no one ever survived Lincon's nose, let's go home," the ranger say disappointed.

"Nigel, Arthur, Kingston, you three risked your lives for me. Oh, come here," Basil said happy before pulling all of them into a hug.

"Like, of course, we did, dude. We weren't just gonna leave you hanging in Lincoln's nose," Shaggy replied.

"Reah. Resides, we're a family, and us families got to stick together," Scooby added with a chuckle.

The four walked out of the head where Muriel was waiting for them.

"I never knew how much I meant to me family, but now I do," Basil said, happily.

"Oh, Basil, you know you me the world to us, too." Muriel replied hugging him.

"Not to me, let's get," Eustace complained.

"Ha, ha, ha. Uncle Twinkletoes, always making me laugh, we're all going to make a great team we will. Listen to this next job," Basil said smiling.

"Basil. I think it's time we all turned a new leaf," Muriel said in a stern voice.

"What are you saying Mama Mashedpotatoes?" Basil asked.

"I'm saying… no more crime," Muriel said, sternly.

"WHAT!?" Basil asked shocked before turning to Courage. "Nigel, you want to do another job with me, don'tcha?"

"Mm-mm," Courage answered, while shaking his head.

Basil turned to Shaggy and Scooby. "Arthur, Kingston, what about you two then?"

"Sorry, Basil, like, this has been fun and all, but bank heists and robbery just isn't our thing," Shaggy replied.

"Ro, you can just count us out," Scooby added.

"Uncle Twinkletoes. You're out too?" Basil asked turning to Eustace.

Eustace just screamed, as he being attacked by a rabid looking squirrel.

"You're all serious then?" Basil asked looking back at Muriel, Shaggy, Scooby and Courage.

Muriel, Shaggy, Scooby and Courage all nodded, sternly.

"All right, I guess that clinches it, I'm just going to have to do what Nigel always told me I should do," Basil said sadly.

Muriel, Shaggy and Scooby turned to Courage who shrugged in confusion.

It was a few days since the whole incident with Basil, the family were currently on the porch of the house reading the letter Basil sent them.

"….But I'm happier than I ever been, thanks to my loving family. Love Basil. Licensed eel massage therapist," Muriel said reading the letter. "A professional massage therapist for eels? Isn't that lovely?"

"Rot really, sounds kinda painful if you ask me," Scooby answered, not sure if this was a safe job.

"True, but look on the bright side, like, at least we helped a burglar retire from robbing people's houses, which means that we won't have to worry about becoming someone else's accomplices anymore," Shaggy pointed out, remaining optimistic. Trying to be positive.

"Indeed, but I wonder what the lad did with the rest of Mount Rushmore? I guess we'll never know," Muriel wondered.

Although little did Muriel know, the other heads of Mount Rushmore, Basil somehow managed to put them under the farmhouse in the middle of the night without making a single sound.

"Do you wanna tell her or should I?" Courage asked.

"Eh, maybe later. Besides, the view's look pretty cool from up here, wouldn't you say?" Shaggy said, to Scooby.

"Reah!" Scooby agreed. "SCOOBY-DOOBY-DOO!"
