It was in late afternoon, and the family were in the dining room playing bingo.
"P-U2," Eustace announced into the microphone.
"Oh, my, that's me," Muriel said as she stamped the bingo sheet in front of her.
"TV-Y7," Eustace told them the next number.
"Aha!" Courage cheered as he stamped the number on his sheet.
"NC-17," Eustace told them the next number.
"BINGO!" Muriel shouted in joy.
Scooby express his disappointment "Raww man, I was so close," he pounded his fist on the table.
"Well like, you almost bingo it," Shaggy chuckled, at his joke, only to get deadpans looks from the two dogs, as he chuckled awkwardly.
Scooby and Courage rolled their eyes at the cowardly teen, Shaggy always had a bad way making corny jokes.
The next thing the family knew, the family all screamed as they're tossed to the wall, and not only that, we were spinning around extremely uncontrollably fast, so fast that they were stuck against the wall and could not move.
Eventually the house stopped spinning, as the family all moaned nauseously, they're were in the upstairs bathroom with green faces.
Courage felt something that made his nausea alarm go off in his head, as the hot sensation shot up in his throat. Courage's eyes went wide, as he instinctively covered his mouth, he could not hold it back much longer and leaned over the toilet as his stomach revolted.
"Rourage!" Scooby exclaimed, rushing to his side and dropped on his knees, so he could help in anyway he could.
Courage moaned and whined bringing up his dinner, a paw rubbed his back, as he vomited into the toilet.
"Oh, my," Muriel said worried for Courage.
"Like, I'll get the ginger tea," Shaggy sighed, as he walked out of the bathroom.
The family went downstairs, and Muriel went into the kitchen to help Shaggy and made everyone some tea to help settle their stomachs, Eustace then sat down on his chair and turned on the television. But all that it showed was static, he flipped through the channels yet static was all that was shown.
"Eustace, can you find the news? Maybe the world's ended?" Muriel asked, very worried and very nervous.
"Worse than that, ain't nothing on,"Eustace answered.
"Like, Uncle Eustace, what could be worse, than the end of the world?" Shaggy asked, in annoyance and worry.
Courage sighed, "Leave it to Eustace, who thinks TV is more important, than the end of the world."
"Rou could say that again Rourage," Scooby answered.
"Maybe the antenna broke off, you better go check," Muriel told him.
"I've been wondering about that darn antenna," Eustace muttered before screaming when he opened the door to reveal a mountain of dirt that fell on him.
Shaggy's eyes grew wide with surprise, "Zoinks! Like, how did that happen?" And like, were the heck are we?
"Must have been quite a dust storm," Muriel said as she opened the curtains of a window and saw that it was covered in mountains of dirt.
Going over to the dirt, Courage and Scooby began to dig a path for them all the way to the surface, it took them about ten minutes to get to. When the two dogs finally reached the surface, looking around, they saw that they're were no longer in a desert but a luscious land full of grass and trees with ponds nearby.
"Huh?" Courage questioned in awe.
"Rhere are we Rourage?" Scooby wondered, astonished by what he is seeing.
"I don't know Scoob," Courage replied, looking to their unfamiliar surroundings around them.
Scooby turned to his direction and saw a lone banana nearby.
"Rey, a banana," Scooby piped up.
"Um, I would leave that alone Scooby," Courage advised him, as he was also careful about what other traps this place could have. "For all we know, that banana could be poisonous."
"Roh come on Rourage, what's the harm in eating a banana?" Scooby countered before picking up the banana, he licked his lips and was about to peel it when a FACE on the banana suddenly appeared.
Courage shrieked with fear.
"Rikes!" Scooby exclaimed, panic made him break out in a heavy sweat.
The banana started scream.
"SCOOBY! DROP IT!" Courage yelled, as he ran up to the Great Dane.
But before Scooby could even react, another voice spoke up.
"LET GO OF MY BABY!" the voice demanded.
Scooby's eyes widened, as the voice startled him with it's sudden appearance, "Ruh?"
He looked up and saw another banana standing behind him, this one being the mother to the other banana which was apparently a baby.
"LET GO OF MY BABY!" the mother screamed again before hitting Scooby a few times with her purse.
"Rere you go," Scooby groaned, dazed and in pain as he handed the baby back to its mother.
Then without thinking he and Courage dove back into the hole they came out of, only to be reminded of how deep it was when the two dogs fell for a solid ten seconds, shaking off the fall, Scooby and Courage got up and went back inside the house.
"What happened? Is everything alright?" Muriel asked seeing their ragged state.
"Like, what's wrong dudes?" Shaggy asked in concerned, as he also saw their ragged state.
"Strange banana," Courage answered pointing to the entrance.
"Ra talking banana!" Scooby exclaimed.
"Sissy dogs," Eustace mocked.
"Like, Scoob, what are you talking about? Bananas don't talk," Shaggy pointed out, wrinkling his brow, trying to understand what the two dogs are saying.
"Ree for yourselves," Scooby told them.
Muriel, Eustace and Shaggy shared confused looks for a moment before turning back to the dogs.
"All right, we'll come and see," Muriel said, as they came near the hole.
The family made their way up the tunnel back to the surface, soon enough, they're back up the surface.
"I have a feeling we are not in Kansas anymore, or in the present time, or some combination of the two," Muriel observed, as she climbed out of the hole.
"And like, I don't think we're over the rainbow either," Shaggy added, as he climbed out of the hole.
"Row what?" Scooby asked.
But before either of Shaggy or Courage could answer, a familiar voice called out.
"They are the ones who tried to eat my baby," the banana mother exclaimed while pointing to the family, behind her were two more bananas wearing police uniforms.
"ZOINKS! TALKING BANANAS!" Shaggy shrieked, fearfully.
"Re told you so," Scooby protested, unhappy.
Courage screamed in terror.
"Where's the eats?" Eustace asked oblivious to what was happening.
"RUN!" Scooby shouted with panic, as the police bananas neared them.
Not needing to be told twice, Shaggy listened and they've turned around and ran as fast as they've could. Courage had picked up Muriel, Eustace Scooby and Shaggy so they could run even faster. Courage did not stop running even though he had no idea where they were. After a couple of minutes, the pink beagle saw buildings nearby, had he not been running he would have noticed that the buildings look like bananas, as Courage entered the town and passed the buildings, he looked for a place to lose their pursuers.
Courage noticed a dumpster and went behind it, taking a peek around the corner. He held his breath, as he saw the police and lady bananas pass them without knowing that they're here.
"Okay, I think we lost them little pink dude," Shaggy said, when the bananas were far enough that they would not hear them.
Courage exhaled a shaky breath, before grunting "Getting heavy," he moaned as the he struggled to hold Muriel, Eustace, Shaggy and Scooby, he then collapsed under the weight.
"You stupid dog," Eustace insulted.
"Definitely not Kansas," Muriel added, still unsure of what to make of the situation.
"Or over the rainbow," Shaggy chuckle a little, trying to keep things light.
Scooby and Courage looked at Shaggy in annoyance and clearly not in the mode for Shaggy's jokes.
"Rot the time Raggy," Scooby said dryly.
Courage then saw a newspaper in the dumpster, he reached out and grabbed it up and began to read it for anything useful, and what the pink beagle found made his heart jumped, as he screamed in horror.
"Is something wrong?" Muriel asked.
"Sure, is something wrong," Eustace said as he took the paper. "Eight million dollars for a salami."
"Zoinks! That's horrifying!" Shaggy exclaimed in fear, million dollars for a SALAMI is highway robbery!
"No, that's not it, look at the date. April 15, 3001. It's nearly a thousand years into the future," Muriel explained, reading the date.
At this revelation, Courage screamed like a horse before passing out.
"Zoinks! Like, we traveled into the future!" Shaggy shouted in horror, this was worse than a eight million dollar salami.
"Row do we get home?!" Scooby shouted, in despair, at the thought of being in this strange place forever, as enough to make his stomach sick.
"Psst," a voice suddenly whispered getting their attention, looking over to where it came from, they've saw another banana. "Come here, I got something for all of you."
"ZOINKS! LIKE, I THINK WE'RE THE ONES GOING BANANAS AROUND HERE!" Shaggy, cried out.
"SHAGGY!/RAGGY!" Scooby and Courage yelled, annoyed and scared at the same time.
"Like, Sorry," Shaggy said, with a sheepish grin.
"You all look like you could use some new clothes, something to fit in, you know what I mean?" the banana answered.
"Not really," Muriel said, with confusion.
"You know, something to make you 'fit in," the banana explained.
This strange banana was giving him the CREEPS, especially in scary back alleys. There was no other way to explain it, Courage started to back away. Suddenly, he wanted to be anywhere but standing in that deserted alley, the banana's eyes narrowed, still fixed on them.
Courage swallowed hard, "I don't trust this, we should go," he tugged on Muriel's arm to try and get her to follow but failed in doing so.
"I always do like to fit in," Muriel told the banana.
"Then fit into this," The banana responded, as he showed the family a rusty old and worn banana suit.
"Why, that's lovely, how much is it if you don't mind me asking?" Muriel asked.
"How much do you got?" the banana asked.
"I don't have any money on me," Muriel answered.
"Ain't got none either," Eustace said, showing his empty pockets.
Though the trio all know that he wouldn't have given any if he did have. The old couple then turned to the trio.
"Rorry," Scooby shrugged.
"Like, I got no dough," Shaggy, said, showing his empty pockets.
The family then turned to Courage.
"Well, don't look at me," Courage told his family.
"What you got to trade?" the banana asked.
"Let's see," Courage answered as he began to dig around his pockets, he then pulled out a whale followed by an accordion and an anchor.
The banana start put the whale and accordion into his own pockets, but couldn't do the same with the anchor.
"NO!" Courage screamed while hugging the anchor. This anchor was his prize possession, he wasn't about to give it up.
"Okay, kid, you drive a hard bargain," The banana responded before giving the family the banana suits. One for each of them.
"Rgh, this is itchy," Scooby complained as he put the suit on. It felt like a thousand fleas where all over his fur.
"Well, Scoob, they do say you are what you eat, and like, it looks that is true as you are now a banana," Shaggy joked, he flashed a large grin as he waited for a reaction from his friends.
Scooby and Courage once again, give deadpans looks to the cowardly teen, they didn't shy away from showing their distaste for the cowardly teen's rather dull joke.
"Rit's not that funny Raggy," Scooby said pointedly.
"Seriously Shaggy, you really need to work on your puns," Courage deadpanned.
Shaggy give a nervous chuckle, but didn't say anything, then suddenly there was music.
"Do you hear that?" Courage asked, with curiosity.
"Like, it's sounds like music," Shaggy said, as music draw into his ear.
"Rut where's it coming from?" Scooby asked.
"Oh, my," Muriel gasped when the bananas passed the family.
The family then began to follow the rest of the bananas deeper into town, after a few minutes, the family saw all the bananas gather around a stage.
"Must be something important going on," Muriel said, as she and her family saw a banana with a red cape walk onto the stage. "He must be the top banana."
"Fellow ripe bananas of the great banana republic, are we at the peak of perfection?" the top banana asked.
"YEAH!" every other banana cheered.
"Then join me, and let us journey to bananahalla," the top banana exclaimed with every other banana cheering.
"Bananahalla? What's that?" Courage asked, raising a confused eyebrow.
"In bananahalla, all your questions will be answered," the top banana conveniently added before stepping down from the stage.
"Maybe if we follow the top banana to bananahalla, our questions can be answered, and we'll find out how to get back home," Muriel suggested.
"Yeah, and where to find some eats," Eustace added.
"Like, I can't believe I'm agreeing my old angry uncle, I'm starving," Shaggy said, as he heard his stomach rumbling.
"Re too," Scooby agreed, he hadn't eat anything in the last twenty minutes.
"How could you two think of food at a time like this?" Courage asked, raising an eyebrow.
"We practiced/Re practiced," Scooby and Shaggy replied in unsion.
Courage sighed and rolled his eyes, he would never understand with the food like those two.
"My ripe-and-ready friends, we have arrived," The top banana declared.
"YEAH!" The bananas cheered.
"This is bananahalla," the top banana said while raising his hands in a grand gesture to the building behind him.
"Like, this place sure is fancy," Shaggy said, examining the building.
"Isn't this grand?" Muriel asked excitedly. "Soon our questions will be answered and we'll be on our way home."
"Rhank goodness," Scooby sighed in relief, he really wanted to go home to.
Courage grunted as he started to bounce up and down, feeling discomfort in his bladder.
"You shouldn't have drunk all that soda," Muriel lightly chided.
"You'll find the little banana's room over there," the top banana told Courage as he walked up to the pink beagle.
"Thank you," Courage said, before he ran over to where the top banana pointed.
Once he reached the doors to the restrooms he saw them staring confused at the doors, he saw the doors and only a banana as the sign for which bathroom is for which. He shrugged, before trying the first one on the left, only for screams and sounds of getting hit came instantly with Courage coming out a moment later, Courage chuckled in embarrassment, before trying the one on the right.
Gee this place is confusing. Courage thought.
Courage whined when he saw toilets stalls in the shape of bananas, but they seemed to be in use, turning around, he saw some holes in the ground instead of urinals.
Courage then tried to use it, suddenly a voice spoke up behind the pink beagle.
"You know, kid," a voice spoke.
Courage gasped in shock, terrified he turning around, his heart thudded. He saw the same banana from earlier that gave him and his family their suits.
"I really wanted that anchor," the banana told Courage.
"Oh-no," Courage gasped in terror, but sigh, not wanting trouble from the banana, "Fine," he grumbled as he took out the anchor.
"Very fine, okay, thanks," the banana said as he put it in his coat, he then put his 'hand' on Courage. "I like you kid, but you're a witness, so down the drain you go."
Courage's eyes widened in shock and fear as he scream with terror, as the banana threw him down the drain. Courage manage to reach the bottom of the drain, as he looked up, and saw he was hanging upside down on a pipe, he look around and he was in the building. He smiled, maybe he could get down the drain, and asked whoever was in charge in how to get him and his family home.
A old ripe looking banana came into the room.
"Welcome to bananahalla," an eerily voice said.
Courage felt a chill ran down his spine, something was not right. The old banana slipped, on a peel of what's once a banana. Courage turned around and gasp in horror, as he saw a giant monkey laughing sinisterly. Courage give out a shriek, as he watched the giant monkey grabbed the helpless old banana, peeled him and put him in his ice cream and put chocolate sauce at the poor banana. The monkey give out one more evil laugh.
"NOOOOO!" Courage shrieked, as he climbed back in the pipe, he had to warn his family before it was too late.
Courage spotted Muriel, Eustace Shaggy and Scooby near the gate, he sighed in relief that they had not gone in yet, Courage raced over to them.
"Courage, did find the bathroom?" Muriel asked as he reached them.
"Big trouble, giant monkey eating banana people," Courage answered before acting like a monkey that was peeling a banana.
Shaggy gasped in shock, "ZOINKS! A GIANT MONKEY?!"
"RIKES!" Scooby screamed in horror, as he quivered and gulped nervously.
"Well, I hoped you wash your hands when you were done," Muriel said completely not understanding what Courage just told her.
Courage whined as he began to pull on Muriel and Eustace's hands.
"Like, Aunt Muriel, we don't think that bananahalla is what it really is," Shaggy told her, feeling very nervous about this.
"Re need to go!" Scooby told her shakily, hoping she would listen.
"I know your all eager to get home, but first we have to go through the doors and ask how," Muriel told the frightened trio.
"Stupid dog," Eustace scoffed as he slapped Courage's hands away.
"What do we do? What do we do?" Courage asked panicking.
The doors soon opened with Muriel and Eustace walking in.
"Raggy, what do we do!? Ruriel and Rustace are gonna get eaten!" Scooby cried out with panic.
"I don't man! I don't know!" Shaggy replied, equally as alarmed.
"Wait till we catch that baby robber," a banana shouted.
Looking towards where it came from, the trio saw some a group of bananas holding up a wanted poster of Scooby.
This give Scooby an idea, he sighed. He was gonna hate this, but he knew he had no choice, "RI can't believe I'm about to do this." Scooby took out a Scooby Snack for courage and ripped his costume off.
"ROVER HERE!" Scooby shouted getting the groups attention as Shaggy and Courage also ripped their suits off.
"There they are, the baby robbers," the bananas exclaimed before running towards the trio.
"COME GET US!" Courage yelled, before turning around and running away.
Shaggy and Scooby did not need to be told twice and followed him.
"Where are you all going?" Muriel shouted towards the cowardly trio as they passed her and Eustace.
After a few minutes of running and following Courage, the trio made it to an ornate side building to bananahalla, entering the doors, Shaggy and Scooby continued to follow Courage to some ornate doors, opening them, Shaggy, Scooby and Courage saw the top banana resting on a couch.
"Help! Help! Help!" Courage begged as he grabbed the top banana.
Eustace laughed as he led the bananas to the frightened trio.
"Please help!" Courage begged while squeezing the top banana even tighter.
"Rhere's a giant monkey!" Scooby exclaimed.
"And like, he's gonna eat all of the bananas!" Shaggy shrieked.
And to the trio's surprise, it was revealed that it was only a monkey wearing a costume.
"A another monkey?/RA another monkey?" Shaggy, Scooby and Courage asked in unison, they didn't expect this unusually twist.
"Get back, get back or I'll, I'll say something nasty," Muriel said as she pushed her way through the crowd to then stand in front of the trio, in effort to protect them.
"The dog isn't our enemy," one banana suddenly exclaimed.
"Yes, it is, yes it is," Eustace said trying to convince them.
"NO! IT'S THAT MONKEY!" the same banana declared.
"OH, NO!" the monkey exclaimed before running off with the crowd chasing him.
"I can be feisty when I have to be," Muriel told her family proudly.
Shaggy smiled at his aunt's courage, "Like, you sure can Aunt Muriel, you sure can."
The family ran after the groups of bananas and single monkey, luckily, they didn't get far and managed to corner the monkey in front of the gates to what he said was 'bananahalla.'
"Okay, I am a monkey," the monkey said when the family neared the group.
It then turned to open the gates of Bananahalla to reveal the giant monkey holding a bowl with ice cream and a single banana in it. "But it wasn't my idea, it was my uncle's idea."
"Like, that is one big monkey," Shaggy said, feeling imitated.
"CHARGE!" Courage suddenly shouted, he was wearing armor and had a flag that had a symbol of a banana on it.
"Uh-oh," the monkey exclaimed worried as he looked at the banana in his bowl as the other bananas were charging at him.
"HALLELUJAH!" The bananas in the bowl exclaimed as the other bananas quickly toppled and overcame the giant monkey.
The family were in a theater in the VIP seats, it was two hours since the bananas learned the truth and subdued the giant monkey and little monkey. Currently, they're waiting to see what kind of punishment the bananas came up with for the monkeys, after a moment, the lights turned off with the curtains parting to show the two monkeys, the giant one operating a giant music box while the smaller one danced around in a funny suit with a cup, needless to say, Shaggy, Scooby and Courage all found it funny.
"I guess you could say, they're all monkeying around," Shaggy chuckled, before once again getting deadpan looks from Scooby and Courage. He stopped chuckling, "Okay, I'll stop."
"Well, this is all well and good, but how do we all get home?" Muriel asked.
The family all screamed as the house spun much like it did earlier in the day, expect only in reverse.
"B-47, C-23, R-19," Eustace said into the microphone.
"BINGO! BINGO! BINGO!" Muriel exclaimed happily as she won the game.
"Like, so close," Shaggy complained.
"Rust one off," Scooby added, with a shrug.
The family were back in the dining room continuing their game of bingo where they've left off.
"All right Muriel, you won the prize," Eustace said, annoyed as he placed a giant pile of bananas onto the table, the family started to take a banana each.
Courage was about to eat his when, he heard a familiar voice. "Psst," looking down it was the banana that sold him and his family the banana suits," Come here, I got something for you."
Courage screamed in fear, while sounding like a horse. One thing's for sure, he was not touching a banana for a long time.
