In the kitchen, Shaggy, Scooby, Courage and Muriel were making some caramel apples for a contest that Muriel is part of. Courage told Shaggy and Scooby that every year, Muriel always enters the Nowhere Sweet-Stuff contest and he asked the duo if they could help. Of course they agreed, it didn't surprise Courage since he knows when it comes to food, those two are experts.
"Mmm, heavenly," Muriel said, as she stirred the contents of the pot.
Shaggy, Scooby and Courage brought Muriel the apples with sticks in them, as the smell of caramel hit Courage's nostrils.
"Ah... I just love the smell of Muriel's homemade caramel sauce, don't you?" Courage said, grinning wide.
Shaggy clasped his hands together with glee, "You said it, little pink dude!"
"Rou betcha!" Scooby exclaimed, with a giggle.
Muriel turned to the trio as they placed the apples on the table. "Ah, boys, you three did a beautiful job with the apples."
"Mm-hmmm," Courage perked up.
"Come on, Aunt Muriel, like, me and the guys here are experts when it comes to making delicious treats, especially candied ones!" Shaggy remarked warmly, he wasn't bragging, everyone knew he was good when it comes to good dishes that he and Scooby make.
"Reah, candied ones!" Scooby added, proudly.
"The caramel's just about ready for dipping. I'm sure we're going to win the Nowhere Sweet-Stuff contest, first prize like always," Muriel said as she stopped stirring the pot. "Though it's a shame Eustace isn't here to try this sweet concoction I made."
"More like it's a miracle if you ask me," Courage whispered to Shaggy and Scooby.
"Rou could say that again," Scooby whispered back.
"Like, speaking of which, where is Uncle Eustace anyway?" Shaggy asked.
At the beach Eustace was building a sandcastle, while giggling with glee. When suddenly a shadow cast him.
"Huh?" Eustace asked, before screaming as he saw a wave coming down on him and wiping his sandcastle, his beach blanket, the umbrella, even his truck!
"Stupid water," Eustace grumbled, now miserable that the wave wipe out everything.
Back in the farmhouse kitchen, Shaggy and Scooby were licking the spoons from the caramel that Muriel made, they turned to Courage, who licked the pot clean. He laughed as most of the caramel was on his face rather than in him. Scooby and Shaggy laughed, with the pink beagle, who giggled in return.
"Like, I guess the little pink dude, is a messy eater, than we are," Shaggy burst out laughing.
"Reah," Scooby chuckled.
Then there was a knock at the door.
"Boys, can the three of you get that while I start cleaning up?" Muriel asked.
"Yeah, sure thing, Aunt Muriel," Shaggy said, as he washed his hands before he, Shaggy and Scooby headed to the door.
"We're coming!" Courage called, as he and his friends made their way to the door.
Courage opened the door, only for him and his friends to suddenly have fear flooding through them, making their palms sweaty and their mouths dry at the same time. What they saw was a gelatinous creature standing in the doorway.
"RIKES! RIT'S A MONSTER!" Scooby shrieked, terrified.
Courage's eyes widened with fear at the jello-like creature and he screamed in a terrified voice.
"LIKE, SHUT THE DOOR, DUDES!" Shaggy screamed to his friends.
Not needing to be told twice, Courage slammed the door when the creature tried to grab him, and his friends. A small part of the creature's arm being cut off and falling to the ground.
"What in the name of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches was that?!" Courage asked, his heart still thumping with adrenaline.
"Now, boys, that's not very polite, shutting the door on a guest," Muriel chided, as she walked over to the frightened trio.
"Like, I hate to break it to you, Aunt Muriel, but that was no guest!" Shaggy protested.
Then suddenly, the creature REFORMED in front of the family from the small part the got cut off when Courage slammed the door on him. The family backed as the trio felt their blood run cold and feeling chills run down their spines.
"See? You've all gotten it mad," Muriel said with horror. "Oh, my!"
"Oh-no," Courage gasped, before growling at the creature, trying his best to be bold in the face of such a jello-like monster. "Stand back, Muriel, we'll take care of this. Right, guys?"
"Like, I may be scared of my own shadow, but nobody's hurting my Aunt Muriel as long as I'm around," Shaggy exclaimed, although frightened at the creature, he knew Muriel's safety was a priority.
"Ring it on, you gelatinous freak!" Scooby growled, struggling to hide the fear that crawled along his spine.
Shaggy, Scooby and Courage narrowed their eyes and leaped across the kitchen to fling themselves onto the liquid creature.
"HI-YAH!/RIH-YAH!" The trio let out battle cries while performing flying kicks at the creature, only to fly through the creature and end up hitting the impact of the wall and slid to the floor.
Muriel gasped when the creature growled at her, she then grabbed the caramel apples and began throwing them at the creature. Only to do nothing aside from leaving a hole in him which he quickly fixed, as the apples didn't do anything to the creature, however it did have the intended effect when the apples bone-jarring hit the trio in the heads and left them dazed. Shaggy, Scooby and Courage moaned in pain, as stars danced in front of their eyes.
"Caramel apples, like, why have you betray us?" Shaggy groaned, as he held his head, while it's throbbing.
Muriel let out a scream of terror when the creature used its arms to trap Muriel and hold her captive against the ceiling, encased in whatever the creature was made of. "Boys, help! Help!"
Scooby, Shaggy and Courage gasped, their blood running cold, as they saw Muriel trapped in the gelatin. Courage pulled out an egg beater and tried to use it on the creature, only for it to back fire and sent him flying.
"Ro, an egg beater works on Redbeard's Ghost, but it doesn't work on this guy?" Scooby echoed in astonishment, as he remembered one of the mysteries, in his and Shaggy's gang.
"Wait here, I'll be right back!" Courage screamed, as he grabbed an club from the refrigerator, much to Shaggy and Scooby's surprise.
"Zoinks! Like, who puts a club inside a refrigerator?!" Shaggy exclaimed.
Courage didn't answer the cowardly teen's question, as he began hitting the gelatin creature with the club, and he let out a battle cry, only it doesn't have an effect on him. The creature then threw the cub, and Courage ran away screaming.
"Boys! Help! Help!" Muriel called out.
Knowing that it was useless to fight the creature, Courage decided to try and free his owner, by using some tweezers, "Guys, a little help!" he shouted at the top of his lungs.
"Come on Scoob!" Shaggy shouted, to his dog, as he and Scooby ran over to help the pink beagle and save his aunt.
Courage jumped a few times before finally grabbing a hold of piece of the gelatin. Shaggy grabbed onto Courage's torso, while Scooby grabbed onto Shaggy's torso.
"Like, we got you Aunt Muriel!" Shaggy yelled out.
Only for the trio to get sucked in and trapped as well.
"Or not," Shaggy said in worried, as he saw now he, Scooby and Courage were trapped in the gelatin now, and dreading what's gonna happen to them now.
The creature growled in satisfaction before opening the door and exiting the house, with Muriel, Shaggy, Scooby and Courage screaming out for help, even though they knew no help would come for them now.
The family kept screaming in fear as they've approached what looked like a candy store, the creature opened the door and entered the store.
"Where are we?" Courage asked worriedly, as he looked around.
"Looks like… candy store?" Shaggy asked in surprise as he and Scooby eyed all the different candy they saw, it made their mouths water as they licked their lips.
The creature went up to the desk and rang the bell, a moment later, the owner showed himself. Shaggy, Scooby and Courage froze, and their hearts begin to pound and lurched when they saw the owner of the store. The owner who had tried to fed them spiders, and the owner who turned Muriel and Eustace into machines. The owner of this store was none other than...Katz.
"Welcome to Katz Kandy, I'm Katz," Katz introduced himself for some reason despite all of knowing who he is.
Courage almost choked with shock and disbelief, "You again?!" he uttered in shock. It was Katz of all people…or animals.
"Like, how did you escape from that island?!" Shaggy asked, completely bewildered, at the fact that Katz manage to escape that island, he and his family escaped weeks ago.
"Rhe last time we met, you were getting chased around by Rustace, the one you turned into a wrecking ball to fight Ruriel when she got turned into a washing machine!" Scooby pointed out, apprehensively.
"Yes, pity. But, I always have an escape and contingency plan at the ready whenever I plan on doing something," Katz explained before admitting. "Though, this one was more luck than anything, follow," he said before commanding the creature to follow.
Katz then headed to the other side of the room and lifted a hatch to reveal stairs leading down, the creature followed him and once downstairs, it sent the family flying to the corner of the room. Yet, they were still trapped, but only for a moment as the gelatin gave away and freed them. Muriel moaned, looking very dazed.
"So good of you to come, I hope you found my jam... tasty," Katz said laughing, sneering.
"Like, how can something so evil be so tasty, man?" Shaggy asked, as he try to get all of the jam contents off, that was stuck to his clothes.
"What do you want with us?" Muriel asked, sounding worried. Terror filled Courage, as he held onto his owner's arm, his heart started racing in his chest.
Shaggy put his reassuring hand on Courage's head, giving him a comforting rub.
Scooby stood beside his family and growled, and trying his best to appear brave, and not let his shivering legs show. Determined to make sure that the evil cat, does not harm his loved ones. "Reah! Rhat exactly is your plan this time, Ratz?!"
"You see, dear lady, boy and... dogs, it's been my misfortune to place second year after year in the Nowhere Sweet-Stuff contest," Katz explained as he walked over to closet, opening it, he showed the family, the dozens of second place trophies he earned. "Sad, isn't it?"
"Roh, I agree... that is just very sad," Scooby replied, he could see why Katz is so tired of getting second place. He know we would of if he was in his fur.
"If it's the secret ingredient in my caramel-coated apples you're wantin', you're out of luck," Muriel said defiantly.
"Yeah, you tell him, Aunt Muriel!" Shaggy shouted with a fist held high, as he stood by his aunt's side.
"Yes, well…" Katz began before cracking his neck. "We'll see about that."
Scooby was about to say something, but he and the trio realized the world around them was getting fuzzy.
"Uh like, why do I feel dizzy?" Shaggy asked as he put his hand on his head, he felt as if his mind was melting like ice.
Courage tired to focus his eyes on Shaggy but all he could see was a blurry green blob moving around, "You're dizzy too?"
Muriel then fell to the ground unconscious.
"Aunt Muriel/Ruriel/Muriel," Shaggy, Scooby and Courage gasped wearily.
"Ruys...I feel sleepy..." Scooby stammered, not thinking clearly.
"What did you do to us?" Courage managed in a drowsy voice, as fell onto his knees.
"You see, I knew that the three of you would be there was well and would try to protect her, that's why I added a little something extra, have a nice nap," Katz explained.
"Zoinks," It was hard for Shaggy to get even get the words out and as he lost his grip on consciousness, he felt concern was for his family, who were almost falling asleep, as his mind was drifting away, pulling him slowly into blackness and it washed away into nothingness.
"Raggy..." Scooby weakly cried, as he collapsed onto the floor, too exhausted to do anything. Then darkness closed over him completely.
Courage fell completely onto the floor, he looked on helplessly at his family. He tried to speak, but only let out a weak whimper. Black curtains finally fell onto the pink beagle. The last thing he heard was Katz laughing evilly.
When Shaggy regain consciousness, he found himself standing in a big room, that look like inside of a candy factory. He shook his head and try to move his hand, but found it was strap to the wall, he turned his head and discovered they it was cuff to the wall by blue sticky substance. He frantically struggled to move, but the sticky blue substance was glued to his hands and shoes.
Scooby woke with a groan. He tried to bring his paws to cradle his head, but something was stopping them. Rha-? He raised his head to looked on his body, his paws were stuck by something sticky and blue. He looked around him and saw that Shaggy was wake, looking just as confused and groggy as he was, but also saw Courage, who was still unconscious. He strained against the blue cuffs, but they're tight. And after several seconds he was forced to give up.
Scooby closed his eyes and trying to think. How had he gotten here?
Courage woke up with a start, and he was surprised to still be alive. Where am I? He thought in a daze. It took him a minute for him to recognize his surroundings and for everything to come back at him. The last thing he remembered was Katz putting him and all of his family to sleep, then blackness. The red cat must of put something in his jam to make them sleep. He scanned the area, and he was grateful to find Shaggy and Scooby between him, they're still alive. But where was Muriel?
He tried to walk, but his paws wouldn't move, he looked down. He saw he was cuffed to the wall, by sticky blue substance, the pink beagle strained desperately to get free, but the blue stuff was too strong.
Shaggy, Scooby and Courage then heard weak moaning of Muriel.
"What?" Shaggy asked the sleep still evident in his voice, his voice was slurring slightly.
Suddenly Shaggy, Scooby and Courage gasped, as they're fully awake now. And filled with panic, as they saw Muriel hanging on a candy cane above a git pit of taffy.
"AUNT MURIEL!" Shaggy cried, he begin to become more frantic now.
"I see your all finally awake," Katz said when he heard the cowardly teen, "Feeling a little strung out?" the evil cat asked Muriel before cackling.
"Do you expect me to tell you my secret ingredient?" Muriel asked with a confuse tone, "Is that what you're wanting?"
"Yes... and if you don't, I'm afraid I'll pull this and that will pull you," Kat answered while pointing to the taffy puller.
For a couple a minutes the cowardly trio fought like trapped animals struggled to get free from the sticky bubblegum cuffs, but they're too sticky and to tight to get lose. They couldn't free themselves mo matter how much they tried.
"Like, it's no use, dudes. Aunt Muriel's all the way up there while we're bound together down here in cuffs made out of mouth-watering bubblegum," Shaggy whimpered, it seemed like there was nothing the cowardly trio could get out of their literally sticky situation.
"Bubblegum?" Courage asked, as he took a whiff of the bubblegum he was cuffed to and the sweet scent of blueberry hit the roof of his mouth. His eyes widened as he realize something important, something that could very well help them win the day yet. "Hey, these cuffs ARE made of bubblegum! I know how we can get outta here! Shaggy, Scooby, start chewing!" he instructed, as he started to chew his cuffs off.
Scooby let out a gasp of delight, "Rou don't have to tell us twice!" he replied happily, as he already freed himself by eating the restraints.
Shaggy smiled, as he tasted the sweet gum, "Mmm, not bad," he said as he was chewing the gum. "Tastes like blueberry."
"Hold on, Muriel! Help is on the way!" Courage shouted as he freed himself and he and his friends blew ginormous bubbles that somehow lifted them off the ground and up to Katz.
"Talk or get taffied," Katz demanded Muriel, as he was ready to pull the lever, and send Muriel to the taffy mix.
"Row how about stop or get sucker punched instead?" Scooby shouted fearlessly, as he and his friends were going up in the air by their gum bubbles.
"Huh?!" Katz looked up and saw the cowardly trio up in the air.
The bubbles popped, sending the three friends down and Courage landed on Katz, and started to pull on the cat's ears, that send them, Shaggy and Scooby violently tumbling down the stairs in a comedic fashion.
"Go on, boys you three got him," Muriel cheered.
Shaggy, Scooby, Courage and Katz shouted in pain as they all continued to go down the stairs, hitting every step on the way down. This lasted for what felt like ten minutes, but it could have just been a few seconds before they all finally reached the floor.
Katz grabbed Courage and threw him across the room, before hitting the wall, thudding against him, it struck him so hard that the breath was knock out of his body.
"COURAGE!/ROURAGE!" Scooby and Shaggy shouted out in unison, with sudden fear.
Courage let his body sink to the floor, felt the searing pain ebb out of his muscles, and wait for his mind to clear.
"My dear boy," Katz said as he came up to the daze pink beagle. "This is become too easy."
What? Courage struggled to sit up, he was towered by Katz. Courage started to tremble.
"How about a little spot of sport, before you and your friends go bye-bye," Katz's voice was measured and cold.
Scooby's outrage and terror almost choked him. Ran't Ratz see that Rourage is in no state to fight him off!
Courage's heart pounded so hard that he couldn't think clearly. He knew he wasn't smart enough to outwit Katz. He would have to hope that he could somehow fight his way out. He nodded in nervousness but in determination. Do I have a choice?
No! This is like a death sentence. Shaggy thought, as he reluctantly stand back.
The game Katz pick was none other, than a staring contest. For two minutes Courage's eyes begin to twitch and ready to blink, he could feel his eyelids turned numb. Scooby's muscles tightened with foreboding and Shaggy felt his heart pounding in panic and can only really hope Courage could win this.
"Eyes bothering you dear boy? It looks like you're ready to blink," Katz mocked.
"No, I can still do this," Courage answered with effort, to keep his eyes from not blinking. But my eyes are starting to hurt!
"Blink, blink, blink," Katz sneered.
Courage whimpered, as his eyes begin to sting and water. Shaggy and Scooby held their breathes, terrified for their friend.
"Blink, blink," Katz continued to sneer on.
Courage, was whimpering and wincing, as his desire to blink his eyes, kept getting stronger by the minute.
"Blink," Katz repeated to the pink beagle.
Courage whined, as he felt sting and pain in his eyes, it was as if his eyes were being rip out of his sockets. Don't blink, don't blink.
Scooby and Shaggy had their hands and paws in their mouths teeth chattering and biting their nails too fast, as they watched horrified.
Katz kept staring at Courage with with unblinking eyes, as Courage eyes, were about to give in, but determined to keep them open for as long as possible. I have to toughen it out! I need to win! He thought.
But suddenly a familiar grouchy voice called out causing Courage to get startled and blink, much to the horror of Shaggy and Scooby. "Stupid dog! I'm hungry!"
No! Shaggy held his breath.
Scooby and Shaggy looked up and saw it was none other than Eustace, as he growled down at the defeated beagle.
"Uncle Eustace! Like, now's not the time!" Shaggy spat to his uncle.
"I'm afraid you lose," Katz declared, triumphly.
Courage pointed to Eustace and smattered pleading, feeling his heart lurch, "But-But-But-But."
Katz didn't listen, as he grabbed Courage by the neck, as Courage's paws shot up futilely and try to escape the choking grip. And before he could try to talk his way out, Katz threw him into the candy machine.
"COURAGE/ROURAGE!" Scooby and Shaggy screamed out in unison with horror as they both raced up to save their friend.
But Katz grabbed them, by the shirt and collar, "Oh not so fast."
"NOOOOO!/ROOOOO!" Shaggy and Scooby screamed, as Katz threw them in the machine as well, before they could get away.
Shaggy, Scooby and Courage yelped, as they felt their bodies physically began to change. They felt themselves being scrunched up and shrink, until finally they popped out of the machine. The cowardly trio groaned, their bodies feeling sore from the transformation, as the three came out, shape as jujubes.
"Now aren't you all sweet?" Katz asked, with an evil grin.
"Rot funny," Scooby complained.
"Muriel!" The trio heard Eustace from above the ground, as Katz came up to stop him.
"Uncle Eustace! Look out!" Shaggy yelped out, a warning.
But Eustace didn't hear him or rather ignore him. "Whatcha doing not making me dinner?! And whatcha walking without yer boot fer?!"
Shaggy, Scooby and Courage rolled their eyes, at the oblivious farmer.
"That's what's he worried about?" Courage asked in annoyance. "Really?"
Muriel was also apparently annoyed with her husband and she said, "First of all I'm not walking, I'm hanging over a batch of taffy and about to get pulled. And second…GET. ME. DOWN!"
The cowardly trio didn't see what's going on, but heard Katz sneering, "Leaving so soon? Would you stay for desert?"
Shaggy perked up, "Desert? We want desert!"
"Reah!" Scooby exclaimed.
"Guys!" Courage scolded his two friends, with a frown.
"Sorry/Rorry," Scooby and Shaggy said in unison with embarrassed grins, as they realized now's not the time to think about desert.
"Come on, we gotta save Muriel, Muriel we'll save you!" Courage called out, as he and his friends started to roll up the stairs.
The trio managed to get up the stairs, and Courage rolled down and pulled the lever that Katz was on one of the candy canes.
Katz was lowered in the batch of taffy he was using to threaten Muriel earlier into giving the secret ingredient. "NOOOOO!"
The cowardly trio breathed a sigh of relief, as Muriel and Eustace climbed down from the candy canes and Muriel went over to the jujube trio. "Aw boys, you three are such brave candy boys you are. You save the day," she said, as she hugged the three.
"Yeah, blah, blah, blah. Where's my dinner?" Eustace demanded annoyed.
"WHAT IS THE SECRET INGREDIENT!?" Katz asked between getting pulled and squashed by the taffy pulling machine and the family watched down.
"If you must know, it's vinegar," Muriel answered. "I use it in all my recipes."
"Vinegar? Vinegar? Its vinegar!" Katz shouted when he realized the ingredient was much simpler than he probably thought.
The next day, it was the sweet-stuff contest, and the cowardly trio were back to their original selfs.
"First prize in the Nowhere Sweet Stuff contest goes to Muriel Bagge," the announcer declared over the p.a. system. "For the 43rd year in a row."
"YAY!/RAY!" Shaggy, Scooby and Courage all applaud.
"Like, congrats Aunt Muriel," Shaggy exclaimed.
"Re knew you could do it," Scooby cheered.
"Thanks dearies, I couldn't have done it without your help," Muriel said, as she held her first place trophy.
And just past her was Katz that was in the shape of a giant green sausage.
"Sad, isn't it?" Katz complained.
"Gee, talk about a sore loser, huh?" Courage said to his friends.
"Well, he may look sweet, but his attitude sure is a bit "sour," Shaggy shared, with agreement.
Scooby laughed. "Rood one, Raggy! SCOOBY-DOOBY-DOO!"
