It was a beautiful day today, Muriel was inside making dinner, while Eustace was asleep in his chair, Shaggy and Scooby were both sitting on the porch eating Scooby Snacks, Courage was out in the yard licking a huge bone.
Courage heard the sound of thunder, it made him tensed up with fear, "Huh?" looking up from his bone he and saw a strange sight.
Standing about twenty feet from the pink beagle was a dark-skinned lady wearing a white toga though Courage could not tell from where it would be from. She had orange hair, blue eyes, green lip stick and black and gold boots. But what really stood out was the fact that there was an actual cloud above her that was raining, thunder and lightning also came from it as well.
Courage saw that the lady was crying, but stopped when she spotted Courage and stopped crying, she seemed to jump in joy before running towards the little beagle. The storm cloud above her seemed to spin around in a circle before following her.
Courage had bitten through his bone as he tensed up, he then got up and tried to run back to the house, while the storm lady was attempting to catch him.
Just as Courage was about the reach the porch, the lady caught him in the grasp of her arms.
"SHAGGY! SCOOBY! HELP ME!" Courage screamed in terror as he was thrashing around in vain.
Shaggy and Scooby both looked up and the two were shock to see a lady holding Courage, while the beagle struggled to escape from the lady's grip.
"Courage!/Rourage!" Shaggy and Scooby cried in unison, as they both got up to help their best friend.
"Like hey, let our best pal go!" Shaggy yelled.
The lady ignore the cowardly teen and only started cuddling and spinning around with Courage, making the little beagle dizzy.
"Put me down!" Courage yelled, struggling again.
To Courage's surprise and relief, the lady immediately put him back on the ground.
"Sweet doggy," the lady cooed.
Shaggy and Scooby also noticed that the cloud above her was no longer raining and now calm, it also seemed to shrink down in size as well.
The lady then threw the ball on the ground where it rolled a bit. "Fetch the ball, you precious creature. Go ahead."
Courage froze with fright, he felt his fear rise up inside him. His mouth wouldn't move, he just let out whimpers of terror. It was as if he was paralyzed.
Who was this strange storm woman? And why was she interested in him. He couldn't move, let alone speak. He stared at her in terror.
Shaggy and Scooby, who both saw how Courage's eyes clouded with terror, and he started to tremble uncontrollably. The hungry duo took action and stood with the poor scared beagle.
Shaggy looked down at Courage, who was about to die of fright and bent over to pick him up. Courage scrambled to put his head up on Shaggy's shoulder shivering as his heart pounded. Shaggy gently stroked Courage's back.
"Rourage, does not want to play with you," Scooby growled, at the lady.
The trio then heard the door to the house open, turning around, the three saw Muriel smiling at the trio.
"Shaggy, Scooby, Courage, you made a friend," Muriel said looking towards the lady.
Courage seemed to be shaking his head, "N-N-No."
Shaggy kept gently stroking Courage's back in attempt to soothe his nerves.
"Please, come in and have a cup of tea," Muriel offered.
Shaggy set Courage down as they and Scooby ran up to Muriel.
"Like, Aunt Muriel, I don't think that such a good idea," Shaggy cautioned.
Courage stepped behind Scooby, who kept his glare on the lady.
"Reah, the lady keeps looking at Rourage funny," Scooby added with suspicion and let out a snarl.
"And she has a thundercloud on her head!" Courage tried to explain, as he transformed into a storm cloud.
"I'd love to," the lady said happily, she then walked into the farmhouse follow by head cloud and Muriel.
Courage screamed as his stomach lurched with dread.
"Like, oh boy," Shaggy groaned in dismay and worry. If there was one of the things he worried about his aunt, is she will let anyone in regardless if they're looking threatening or not. Putting his hand on his head and turning to the dogs. "Come on dudes, let's go, to make sure Aunt Muriel doesn't get in trouble."
"Rand to make sure that storm lady doesn't do anything to Rourage!" Scooby growled, determined to protect the little beagle, from that suspicious weird looking storm woman.
In the kitchen, Shaggy, Scooby and Courage were all sitting at the table to keep an eye on the lady, while Muriel was having a conversation with her.
"No, Muriel, the life of a goddess isn't always so heavenly," the goddess told Muriel with a frown as she rested her arms on the table.
"I suppose being a goddess isn't easy,"Muriel said as she raised her pot and tea cup to pour some herself some more tea.
But it was a bit harder as the storm above the goddess' head seemed to pick up and strong winds started to blow around.
"Oh, it's just, that I lost my precious dog, Duncan," the goddess responded with sadness, as she covers her face in sorrow.
"Duncan?/Runcan?" Shaggy, Scooby and Courage asked in unison, highly confused.
"Oh, my, I know just how you feel. If I ever lost Courage, I don't know what I do,"Muriel said, not liking that thought.
Shaggy felt a sharp stab of sympathy. Like, I couldn't bear it if I lost Scooby. "Like, I feel ya Aunt Muriel, I don't what I do if I ever lost Scoob."
Scooby felt a surge of warmth radiate through his body at Shaggy's words, "Raww, Raggy."
"Actually Muriel, your dog reminds me of Duncan," the goddess said, pointing to Courage, she then pulled out a heart shaped picture frame. And inside it was a picture of another pink beagle, she then handed it to Muriel. "Isn't the resemblance uncanny?"
Shaggy and Scooby looked over the photo, the dog really did not look like Courage. A few shared traits maybe like the color fur but aside from that nothing.
"Oh, yes, they look exactly alike," Muriel said with a smile, as she handed back the picture.
"I miss him so much," the goddess said, as she took back the photo and hugged it.
But as she did so, thunder and lightning came from the cloud above everyone, the wind started to pick up even more so. Cabinets started opening and shutting by the force of the wind, while pans started to fly around.
"My, we're getting a nice breeze today. Shaggy, be a dear and close the window," Muriel asked her nephew, completely unaware that the storm is actually inside the house.
Either way, Shaggy got up and went to the window and closed it, but he felt alarm course through him when the teenager heard Muriel get up in shock. "OH!"
Shaggy quickly turned around and saw that Muriel was standing up in shock, looking past her, Shaggy saw that the goddess had gotten up as well but also picked up Courage and was now cuddling against him.
The storm had picked up even more as pans and pots were flying all over the place. The table also suddenly flew to the wall with the chairs now being in the air.
Scooby growled and snarled at the goddess, "Rey, let go of Rourage!"
"So, where will you be looking for your dog, then?" Muriel demanded with her hands on her hips.
Courage all the while was trying to escape her grip, but was having little luck in doing so. "MURIEL! SHAGGY! SCOOBY! HELP!" he shrieked, flailing around helplessly.
Shaggy gritted his teeth, "Put the little pink dude down! Can't you like, see he doesn't want to be held!"
"You wouldn't mind if I take Courage out for some air, would you?" the goddess asked ignoring Shaggy as she continued to cuddle Courage, she then began to turn around walk to the door.
Courage panicked even more, he howled with terror and tried to grab onto the walls only to rip down the wallpaper.
"We're coming Courage!/Re're coming Rourage!" Shaggy and Scooby yelled out in unison, as they both ran out the door to help their best friend.
The door then opened and quickly slammed shut when everyone expect for Muriel exited through the door with the storm following the goddess.
The family and the storm goddess were all sitting down in the dining room, they're eating dinner which was spaghetti and meatballs. However, no one aside from Shaggy, Scooby and Eustace were actually eating. Shaggy, Scooby and Muriel were all carefully watching the storm goddess who was staring intently at Courage. After the incident in the kitchen earlier, Shaggy and Scooby both had kept an eye on the goddess since then.
It seemed that the goddess, might run off with Courage at any moment. Luckily, all she did was play fetch with Courage. But Shaggy and Scooby still felt like she might try to do so at any moment.
"Good doggy, sweet doggy!" the goddess said, as she rubbed Courage's arm.
Courage wished she hadn't though, as if the air around her was rather suffocating. The moment she touched his arm, it felt like he was being choked from the inside, like his body decided that breathing was no longer worth it and would rather pass out than deal with this whole situation "Please don't touch me," he whined, clearly uncomfortable with the goddess touching her, especially when he saw Muriel had her arms crossed angrily. She apparently was not liking the goddess and all the time she spent with Courage.
"Lousy dogs, sitting at the table!" Eustace complained angrily.
Courage recoiled letting his head down.
"Like leave them alone Uncle Eustace, Scoob always sits at the table at my house," Shaggy said defensively, back at his home in Coolsville, his parents are perfectly fine with Scooby sitting at the table. Like I swear, he's almost worst than Simone. Well at least he wasn't a werecat, the thought of it made him shudder.
"Blah, blah, blah," Eustace snapped, not caring what his nephew has to say.
"Hush Eustace, they're not just dogs their family," Muriel scolded, before turning to Courage, who looked down after Eustace's comment. "Don't be bashful Courage, after all, when supper's over, your friend will be leaving, and you will never see her again."
"I just can't imagine never seeing my sweet Dunc—OH! Courage—Again," the goddess exclaimed suddenly.
"Big deal," Eustace exclaimed while trying to get his fork with spaghetti to his mouth, only for it to fly off his fork and hit him in the glasses, which made Scooby chuckle a bit.
"I mean, he'll always be with me," the goddess clarified as she looked down before looking back at Courage.
Courage shifted uncomfortably, staring down on the table.
"I understand, we're terribly close," Muriel said motioning to Courage
Courage felt pride thrilling through his body, he puffed out his chest and nodded proudly.
"Reah, Rourage is our best friend," Scooby agreed firmly.
"And our pal," Shaggy stated.
That made Courage feel slightly better. But unfortunately it didn't last very long.
"NO, YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND!" the goddess shouted, as she got and slammed her hands on the table.
This got Shaggy, Scooby and Courage scared by the tone of her voice.
"Blah, blah, blah!" Eustace complained as he raised his spoon which had two meatballs on it, only for them to fly out and hit him in the glasses again. Making a comedic look on him for a minute before being wiped away.
"I'm taking him with me!" the goddess suddenly yelled.
A look of terror came over Courage's face, as his heart was lurching with fear. The blood drained from Shaggy and Scooby's faces from the moment the goddess said she's taking Courage with her.
"WHAT!?/RHAT!?" Shaggy, Scooby and Courage practically shrieked in shock, Courage's mind reeling at the very thought.
Courage stood up on his chair, hugging it to his back as he watched the goddess warily for any sudden moves, "But, I don't wanna go with you!" he whined. I might never seen Muriel, Scooby, Shaggy or even the farmer ever again. He didn't want to go to who knows where with that storm lady. His stomach churned with fear.
"I-I-I don't think so. You can't have Courage!" Muriel defied as she got up from her chair to stare down the storm goddess, but she did not back down.
"Reah, just because you lost your dog, doesn't mean you can take Rourage from us!" Scooby said, furrowing his brow.
"HE'S MY DOG AND THAT'S THAT!" the goddess exclaimed, as she folded her arms angrily.
"No way-," Shaggy broke off, seeing some forks and knives came flying towards his face at a frightening speed. "ZOINKS!" he shouted, he barely dodge out of his seat in as the forks and knives came through his spot.
"HUNGRY!" Eustace suddenly shouted, only for a plate full of spaghetti and meatballs to hit him in the face. This time, all the spaghetti wrapped all around his face like he was a mummy with the meatballs being where his eyes were.
Had this been in any other situation, Shaggy and Scooby would have laughed out loud at Eustace's expense.
"You'll have to go! Now!" Muriel shouted at the goddess.
"Yes!" Courage exclaimed, in agreement and happiness.
"Not without my dog!" the goddess threatened.
"No!" Courage screamed.
At this point, the storm had gotten even more intense to the point it felt like being in an actual tornado.
"Ruh…guys," Scooby spoke up, getting his best friends attention, as he pointed up the ceiling.
"He's my dog!" Muriel yelled at her.
"He's my dog!" the goddess yelled back.
"Oh, no! He's mine!" Muriel yelled again.
At this point, everything was flying around, food, plates, utensils and chairs were flying all over the place. The storm now had thunder and lightning.
"Like, the storm is getting worse!" Shaggy yelled.
"RURIEL WATCH OUT!" Scooby called worriedly to the old woman.
Seeing some spoons and knives getting dangerously close to Muriel, Courage leapt at them and tried to keep them away. Only to be sent flying to the floor and possibly through it when he got hit by a plate of food, but Shaggy managed to catch him in time before he did.
"The dog is mine!" the goddess calmly said again.
At this point now, everything was in the air. Nothing was on the ground and it seemed like it was only to get worse.
"No dinner, no nothing," Eustace grumbled as his food was sent flying away from him.
Only for his hat to be sent flying away a moment later.
"What's huh?" Eustace asked, as he saw his hat flying away. He got up and tried to catch it. Only to be stuck in midair. "OH! Wicket!"
"Mine!" Muriel yelled again.
"Mine!" the goddess yelled back again.
Eustace chuckled when he managed to grab his hat again, only to become embarrassed when the wind ripped his clothes off of him except his underwear. He then used his hat to cover his private area.
Shaggy, Scooby and Courage all expressed their disgust at this.
"Same here," Courage agreed.
Shaggy, Scooby and Courage then turned to the two ladies and saw that they were both up in each other's face now.
"Ruh-oh!" Scooby exclaimed, in alarm.
"Mine!" Muriel shouted again.
"MINE!" the goddess shouted back again.
Eustace, then had hit his head on the furnace. "OW!" he exclaimed, in pain.
Shaggy, Scooby and Courage suddenly heard tearing coming from the walls.
Panic boiled up inside Shaggy, "ZOINKS! THE HOUSE IS ABOUT TO FLY AWAY!" he cried, but the howling winds swallowed his words.
"This is bad. OH NO! MURIEL!" Courage cried, realizing Muriel was about to fly away as soon as the house rips apart.
"Ruick, get a rope!" Scooby shouted.
Courage nodded and pulled out a rope and tied it to Muriel's foot, while Shaggy tied it to the furnace that is somehow surviving all this. And just in time as well, since Muriel, without realizing it, was staring to float in the air from how strong the winds are getting.
"MINE!" Muriel shouted again.
"MINE!" the goddess shouted back.
And with each passing second, the storm intensified until, the house flew away along with everything else except the furnace.
Shaggy's heart hammered, "ZOINKS!" he cried in terror, when the house flew away along with everything else except the furnace.
Courage's heart stopped, as he saw that the hurricane like winds were stronger than he thought, "OH NO! MUREIL!" he cried as he grabbed the rope to keep Muriel tied down, a gust of wind swirled around him and hit him in the chest and he was sent flying into the air as well.
RO! Scooby thought in a panic, watching Courage flying in the air. "ROURAGE!" he cried, as he grabbed onto the little pink beagle, only for the wind's hooks seemed to snatch him from the ground.
"SCOOBY!" Shaggy screamed, he tried to hold him down by grabbing his feet, unfortunately, the winds grabbed hold of Shaggy and pulled him up, with Scooby and Courage along with him.
With the only thing that kept the three here and not sent flying away was the rope that we tied to Muriel and the furnace, the trio, screamed into the air, as the wind picked up even stronger. The trio couldn't remember feeling so helpless.
"MINE!" Muriel yelled, oblivious to the fact that she was flying in the air.
"MINE!" the goddess yelled back, oblivious to the fact that her storm destroyed the farmhouse and that Shaggy, Scooby and Courage were in the air holding onto the rope.
"Zoinks! What are we going to do!?" Shaggy cried, as he held on to the rope while watching an anchor, a black duck with a paper boat on his head and an accordion fly past him.
"I don't kn—"Courage began to answer, only to broke off when something hit him in the face, "OOF!"he grunted. The beagle grabbed to see what it was and realized that it was the picture of Duncan.
But wait…
An idea flashed into Courage's mind on how to stop this. "We gotta find Duncan."
"Row?" Scooby asked in worry.
"All we gotta do is look around and ask," Courage remarked.
"Like, I hope we found him soon or Aunt Muriel is a goner for sure!" Shaggy cried out.
"We need to follow the wind," Courage cried.
Shaggy and Scooby were both stunned and terrified, what was Courage saying? "Wind?/Rind?"
"Hang on guys!" Courage felt fear and dread creep into him, but he knew he and his friends have to do this.
Shaggy, Scooby and Courage hang onto to each other, their hearts thumped faster, but they fought to stay calm and Courage let go of the rope and they're all sent into the storm.
In China, Shaggy, Scooby and Courage saw that a man with an orange outfit. The cowardly trio approached him and saw that he was meditating, taking out the picture, Courage showed it to him.
"Like, have you seen this dog master dude?" Shaggy asked desperately to a Chinese master.
The man leaned in to look closely at picture, before shaking his head.
Next, Shaggy, Scooby and Courage were in India, where the trio saw a little girl was nearby licking an ice cream cone.
"Rexcuse us little girl, have you seen this dog?" Scooby asked her, as Courage showed her the picture.
She leaned in to have a closer look, before shaking her head.
Next, Shaggy, Scooby and Courage went to Paris, eventually finding a couple nearby making out. The three best friends approached them, where Courage tapped on the man while showing the photo.
"Um, have you seen this dog?" Courage asked the couple.
The couple stopped kissing to look at the photo, before shaking their heads saying they haven't seen the dog.
"Yuck!/Ruck!" Shaggy, Scooby and Courage reviled a bit in disgust at seeing the lady's face was a bit ugly.
The cowardly trio were now in 'Burgers Really Cheap.' Shaggy and Scooby were both eating huge burgers they had ordered, while Courage is drinking the root beer he ordered.
"Like oh man, what are we gonna do?" Shaggy asked worriedly, as he ate his burger. He was scared and terrified at the thought that Muriel might be killed by the storm goddess' wrath and that time was running out.
"Reah, we've been looking for three days, and still nothing," Scooby added anxiously, as he also ate his burger.
If we can't find Duncan… Courage swallowed. I'll have to go with the goddess to make sure she doesn't hurt Muriel anymore. "I think I'll have to go with the storm goddess," he murmured softy. Foreboding hollowed his chest.
Shaggy and Scooby both froze as they started at their best friend with horror, their mouths gaping open.
"What!? Little pink dude we gotta keep looking!" Shaggy gasped.
Scooby stared at Courage in shock, "Re just got started."
Courage swallowed but pushed on, "And I'm ending it!"
Shaggy was about to open his mouth to argue when...
"Hey, I've seen that dog," a voice suddenly said while pointing to the picture.
Turning, Shaggy, Scooby and Courage saw that it came from Charlie the mouse. Courage suddenly lunged at him.
Shaggy, Scooby and Courage's eyes widened and he turned to it, questioning in unison, "WHERE!? WHERE!?"/RHERE!? RHERE!?" Courage was practically grabbing onto Charlie's shirt.
They didn't mean to be rude, but each minute waiting increased the time Muriel is in that storm. They can't afford listening to needless chattering.
"Take it easy, take it easy," Charlie told Courage before pointing to the sewer that was outside. "He went down that sewer."
"The sewer, why not?" Courage groaned in frustration over the fact they had to go in a stinky sewer to find Duncan.
"Come on dudes," Shaggy urged the dogs as he and the dogs dashed out of the diner and to the manhole.
Seeing a shovel nearby, Shaggy picked it up and used it to move the manhole over, Shaggy, Scooby and Courage looked down the hole to see if they could see the bottom.
Shaggy squinted at the dark, "Like, do you see a bottom yet guys?"
"No, but-" Courage began, before he, lost his footing by mistake.
Shaggy and Scooby both try to grab him but unfortunately they both only managed to make the situation worse by slipping on a large puddle, resulting in all of them falling down into the sewer.
Shaggy, Scooby and Courage fell down for a few seconds before the three plunged in the filthy water of the sewer as the water closed over their heads.
And just when they're sure their lungs would pop, they seemed to lunged back up.
"Ruck!" Scooby cringed in disgust at the water.
"Like, dudes, there's a boat," Shaggy said in awe, as he's pointing at a boat nearby.
Scooby held onto Courage, as he and Shaggy swam to the boat and Scooby placed him inside. He then helped Shaggy and Scooby into the boat as well, As soon as the three were in, Courage sat up from his seat and pushed the wall to make the boat move.
"Duncan!" Courage called out.
"Runcan!" Scooby called out as well.
"Duncan!" Shaggy shouted out.
But so far Shaggy, Scooby and Courage have no luck.
"Row are we gonna find Runcan in this place?" Scooby asked to his best friends with concern.
"Like, I don't know Scoob but-" Shaggy began, before he heard something that sounded like water rushing. "Like dudes, do you hear something?"
"Yeah, it sounds like a-" Courage was thinking aloud, the roaring in his ears grew louder. His heart stopped, as his blood turned to ice-cold terror. He realized was the sound was... A WATERFALL!
"A WATERFALL!/RA WATERFALL!" Shaggy, Scooby and Courage cried out in unison and with fear.
Shaggy, Scooby and Courage all cling to each other fearfully. A split second later, the three best friends were going down the waterfall screaming for their lives. Their panic-stricken screams were cut off as they slammed onto the surface below and all the breath was driven out of their bodies.
Courage felt his head exploding from pain, as he smashed into something hard. The world around him spun, and the water turned bright white. And he blacked out.
Courage was knocked out by the impact as Scooby grabbed onto him, so he won't drown. Scooby's arms and legs were thrashing trying to get up to the surface. He kicked paddled and flailed. His face came out of the water and he gulped air. He spluttered and coughed, his throat raw, his arms and legs ached.
"Raggy?" Scooby croaked, "Raggy!?"
Shaggy burst up out of the water beside him, gasping for breath, and Scooby grabbed him by his other arm, while still holding Courage. Shaggy coughed spat and retched, and that's when he saw Courage in Scooby's arms.
"No! Courage!" Shaggy cried, but the little pink beagle didn't respond. Courage's eyes were closed and Shaggy couldn't tell if he was breathing.
Scooby didn't want to let Courage go, he couldn't bear the thought of Courage being dead.
Suddenly the water began shifting, dragging Shaggy and Scooby out as it begin to swirl, IT WAS A WHIRLPOOL!
"RAGGY!" Scooby screamed out and spluttered water filling his mouth. He suck in a huge breath, before he was pulled underneath the water.
"SCOOBY!" Shaggy cried out, before he took a gulp of air and was pulled under as well.
Shaggy and Scooby flipped and spun out of control disorienting them as they struggled to hold their breath. The whirlpool flung them out and into another part of the sewer. Shaggy and Scooby's lungs screamed for air, they fought the urge to suck in water. Scooby continued to hold onto Courage, as he was still unconscious from the impact. Shaggy and Scooby looked at one another with panicked glances, they're about to drown to their deaths.
Re're not going to make it! Scooby thought in a panic. Rhis is where we're going to die!
Desperately Shaggy and Scooby kicked and kicked pain growing in their chests until they thought they would lose consciousness. Suddenly the cowardly trio came out of the pipe because it had a large hole in. They're okay!
Shaggy and Scooby both gasped and spluttered drawing in lungful after lungful cold wonderful air.
"Like, are you okay Scoob?" Shaggy coughed and gasped for breath.
Catching his breath at last, Scooby replied, "Reah, I'm good."
The both turned to Courage, who was still knocked out, unmoving, and not breathing. Panic started to grip Shaggy and Scooby.
"Courage!/Rourage!" Shaggy and Scooby called out in unison.
Scooby ran mechanically to him and slid on the ground on his knees, when he got close enough to the pink beagle, he looked so lifeless, that he and Shaggy felt their hearts stopped.
Scooby lifted Courage up and quickly placed a head onto Courage's chest. There was a heartbeat, it was small, but still there.
"Raggy, he's not breathing!" Scooby's voice raced with panic.
Shaggy's heart throbbed "Oh no! Is he-"
Scooby didn't hear what Shaggy had to say, as the Great Dane laid the pink beagle gently on the concrete floor. Scooby then placed his paws onto Courage's chest and began chest compressions. Shaggy was glancing this unfold, his eyes filled utter worry and sadness. They can't lose Courage now!
After about twenty chest compressions, Courage's eyes flew open, and he coughed, water gushing out of his mouth. He spluttered, as he sat up, his eyes teary. His chest ached, and he gasped for air desperately. His head pounded painfully and he laid back down on the ground, squeezing his eyes shut again, so he barley saw anything. Finally he started to opened them a little bit started up at his two worried and concerned faces of his two best friends.
"Rourage, are you okay?" Scooby asked, nearly going limp with relief, while patting his back.
Courage opened his mouth and let out a moan, his fur was soaked. He felt to exhausted to move, every muscle shrieked with pain. And his stomach felt distended from all the water he had swallowed. But at least he was alive. He managed to raise his head. "Y-Yeah, I'm okay," he rasped, trying to clear his raw throat.
Shaggy whipped around to glare at Courage, "Like, don't you scare us like that!" he snapped. He didn't mean to sound rude, but he really had thought Courage had died and he couldn't help it.
"Will do," Courage's voice was scratchy, but he gave a weak smile in a effort to calm the worried teen down.
Suddenly, Shaggy, Scooby and Courage tensed up when a mysterious voice suddenly spoke up in an almost heavenly tone.
"BEHOLD THE GOD BONE! BUT DO NOT LICK THE GOD BONE!" the voice spoke.
The trio looked up and saw the mother of all bones, it was big enough to easily crush someone to pieces.
"FOR HE WHO LICKETH THE GOD BONE, SHALL LIKETH THE GOD BONE! AND NEVER CEASE FROM LICKING. IT'S JUST THAT GOOD!" the voice spoke before going eerily silent again.
Shaggy, Scooby and Courage looked at one another in alarm.
"What does this all mean?" Courage asked, not liking the sound warning the voice gave them.
Before Shaggy could reply, a loud licking sound began to fill the room.
"Rey, do you guys hear that?" Scooby asked with a concern frown.
Shaggy, Scooby and Courage walked around the room and found out that the source of the licking was the dog they're looking for.
Shaggy, Scooby and Courage gasped with relief smiles, "DUNCAN!/RUNCAN!"
"Rit's him! Re found our dog!" Scooby smiled.
Courage stared other pink beagle, thinking quickly, "Me and Scooby will get him off the bone, Shaggy try and find a way out of here."
Shaggy give a nod of acknowledgement, and looked around the room for a bit.
"Scooby, help me get Duncan!" Courage ordered the Great Dane.
"Rokay," Scooby agreed.
Scooby grabbed Courage's back and held on to it firmly, Courage pulled Duncan trying to get his tongue off of the bone. Scooby pulled Courage's back to the best of his ability. But Duncan was constricted to the bone like gum that won't come off of your shoe.
"Re's not coming off," Scooby grunted.
"Keep pulling Scoob," Courage reply with a grunt.
Suddenly a heavy of aroma of the bone was send into Scooby and Courage's nostrils and they both stopped pulling Duncan and stared at the bone as if it was hypnotizing them.
"Rou know Rourage, that bone looks….so juicy….and sweet," Scooby said, in a droned out voice, his mouth began to drool as he licked his lips hungrily. His head felt foggy, like he'd just woken up from a deep sleep. He kept staring at the bone almost like he was in a trance.
"Yeah, that bone looks yummy," Courage said, falling under the spell and he moved towards the bone, he stopped and shook his head violently and holding his tongue, fighting off the temptation. What am I doing!? He thought in a panic. "No! Scooby don't look at the bone!" he warned to the still trance Great Dane he turned away, but it was still a struggle since the scent of the bone was still affecting him. "Must...not...smell...the...bone."
Finally giving into the smell, Courage and Scooby began to lick the bone.
Meanwhile, Shaggy was disappointed to see no exit to this place aside from how they entered, and he was not sure if it would be a good idea to go back into that pipe.
Shaggy shuddered, remembering his terrible panic when he was underwater when he and his best friends got caught in the whirlpool. And he prefer not to go through that again.
It wasn't long before Shaggy suddenly heard the sound of something crunching beneath his shoes. Chills ran up his spine.
"Like, what's…that?" Shaggy whispered under his breath, his fear rising up.
Looking down, he BONES. Bones that looked like that belong to dogs. Shaggy screamed, they're bones in the sewer!
Shaggy turned away and retched. He tried not to look, tried not to think about the dog bones, but he could still feel the dead dog skull's eyes on him.
He glanced down again, he had to, he couldn't help it. The dog bones looked like they been licking something.
The voice of the sewer's warning burned in Shaggy's mind: DO NOT LICK THE GOD BONE! FOR HE WHO LICKETH THE GOD BONE, SHALL LIKETH THE GOD BONE! AND NEVER CEASE FROM LICKING.
A cold feeling spread from Shaggy's ears to the tips of his fingers, as if he were turning into a teenager made of ice. He realized with horror that the warning meant if the dogs kept licking the dog bones, they'll die licking!
Like, that's where those bones came from!
Even worse, Shaggy left Scooby and Courage alone! Shaggy gasped fearfully upon realizing that Scooby and Courage could be the next victims! "Oh-no, SCOOBY! COURAGE!"
Courage meanwhile was still in a trance licking the bone, suddenly Muriel flashed into his mind and how she'll turned into a skeleton, if they're not back with Duncan in time.
Gasping Courage shook out of his trance and then began to pull on his tongue. He couldn't just lick here and give in! He refuse to let the bone tempt him, at least not without a fight.
"Must….not…lick," he encouraged himself, as he struggle to get his tongue off the bone, he try to use a metal claw to pull his tongue but it didn't work. He tried to use a metal stretcher, but it didn't work either.
Shaggy quickly ran back to Courage to see that he was wrestling with his tongue.
"Little pink dude! Stop licking the bone!" Shaggy screamed.
"I'm thrying" Courage could hardly get the words out.
Courage then pulled out a feather and started to tickle his tongue, that manage to work as he managed to tie his tongue in a knot and force it back into his mouth.
"Did you find an exit Shaggy?" Courage asked spotting the teen.
"No, but dude, we have to like, get Scooby to stop licking the bone, before he's ends up like the other dogs!" Shaggy nervously exclaimed.
"Other dogs?" Courage replied, feeling uneasy.
"Like, I saw the skeletons out of dogs man," Shaggy gulped.
A twinge of cold vicious panic ran through Courage, "Oh-no, we have get Scooby to stop licking before, he becomes the next victim!" he cried out. Courage shuddered, as he thought of how he had come close to almost fell victim to the bone too.
Suddenly an idea came to Shaggy of something that might get Scooby to stop licking, "Like, I know what to do little pink dude," he said, as he pulled out a box of Scooby Snacks.
"Shaggy, this is no time for snacking!" Courage snapped. How can Shaggy think of eating at a time like this? Especially when their buddy's life is on the line?
"Just trust me little pink dude," Shaggy insisted, before calling to Scooby. "Scooby! Would you stop for a Scooby Snack?"
Scooby kept licking the bone, not hearing Shaggy. This draw a curious look from Courage.
"Would you stop for two Scooby Snacks?" Shaggy asked again.
Scooby still didn't hear his owner.
"How about the whole box?" Shaggy asked one more time.
Scooby suddenly turned and saw the box of Scooby Snacks, "Reah!" he said, his tongue away from the bone. He ran, as he Shaggy handed the box and Scooby dumped all the Scooby Snacks into his mouth.
Courage looked at Shaggy with surprise, "Wow Shaggy, I can't believe that worked."
"Like I always say little pink dude, never underestimated the power of a Scooby Snack," Shaggy said, with a satisfied grin.
Scooby already finished his box of Scooby snacks, when Shaggy rushed to Scooby's side and wrapped his arms around his head and hugged him tightly, "Oh Scooby, I'm glad you're not a pile of bones."
Scooby looked at his owner and asked nervously, "Rhat? Rhat do you mean Raggy?"
"We're almost victims to the bone Scooby, that's what the warning met, but luckily Shaggy save you," Courage said with a grin.
Shaggy put a hand on Courage's head, "By the way little Courage guy, how did you resisted the bone?"
Courage grinned, "Sometimes, you think inside yourself and remind yourself of the important things you have to do."
"Rike saving Ruriel?" Scooby asked happily, wagging his tail.
Courage nodded looking at Shaggy and Scooby with love in his eyes, "Uh-huh, the people that I love are what motivate me to protect them from danger."
A warm feeling crept through Shaggy, "Like, that's some real courage man." Like, no wonder Aunt Muriel named him Courage.
"Okay, now we need to get Duncan out of here as soon as possible," Courage said.
Courage then somehow, picking up the entire bone, "Come here Duncan," he fussed.
The pink beagle then headed to the pipe again, Courage had just placed down the bone to catch his breath. Shaggy and Scooby were both about to ask him if he needed help, when Shaggy suddenly heard a rustling sound behind him follow by a tap on his shoulder.
Spun around, Shaggy saw that the bones of the dogs had come together and were now acting as guardians to the bone and surrounding the trio. "ZOINKS!"
"Going somewhere," one of the dog skeletons rasped.
Scooby put his paw over his heart and gasped, "Roh-no! RI've seen this on the late show! Rou ghoulish fiends hold us down and take turns nibbling on our innards, then you eat our brains and leave our bodies for the buzzards!"
Shaggy and Courage began to whimper, as they both tightened their grip on each other.
"They're gonna kill us!" Courage cried out.
"NO! Like, please don't eat our brains!" Shaggy screamed.
"That's DISGUSTING," another of the dog skeletons rasped, "We're not gonna do that!"
This makes Shaggy, Scooby and Courage sighed in relief.
"We're gonna take you dogs back to the bone and make you lick again," another one of the dogs chimed in.
Now Scooby and Courage began to scream in fear.
They then started beating the cowardly trio up with the bones with heavy blows.
Then the dog skeletons picked up Scooby and Courage back to the place where the god bone was. And the other dog skeletons picked up the god bone (long with Duncan) back to the place where it belongs.
Shaggy opened his eyes, the sounds of his best buddies' cries rushed into his ears and he sprang to his feet. Straight in front of him he saw Scooby and Courage being carried away by the dog skeletons.
Immediately Shaggy takes the arm of a dog skeleton and uses it as a sword, "Back off! Back off, I say!"
"Attack," one of the dog skeletons address.
The dog skeletons have a few of the weapons, but they're just pitiful bones from their skeletons
Fueled with adrenaline, Shaggy sword fight a few of the skeletons shouting, "Tally-Ho!"
"Look at me, Like, I'm Errol Flynn!" Shaggy exclaimed proudly, before slashing the slow walking dog skeleton group. "You're falling apart, marrow brain!"
A few more of the dog skeletons stack up each other to appear more stronger, but Shaggy having enough and wanting to save his best friends made him braver.
"Like, you must be kidding," Shaggy scoffed, before chopping them up with his bone sword. "Back to oblivion!"
Back with the dog skeletons who were taking Scooby and Courage back to the God Bone spot, all saw Shaggy jumping over them. "Oh, ho! How's your sister!?"
Scooby and Courage both hang their mouths open in shock.
"Like, All right, boneheads. Playtime's over. Yee-hoo!" Shaggy exclaimed, before twirling around and destroying the dog skeletons that had Scooby, Courage, Duncan and the god bone.
Scooby and Courage both have amazement looks as Shaggy finished fighting the dog skeletons.
Shaggy then noticed the shock glances the dogs were giving them, "What? Dad once made me go to military school when I was younger."
Courage just shook his head with a delightful smile, sometimes his best friends were full of surprises. His smile turned into a frown though as he spot something that made him gasp in fear. "Shaggy!" he called worriedly to his best friend, who grabbed the god bone with Duncan still licking oblivious to the fighting that's happening around him. "Watch out!"
Heeding his warning, Shaggy quickly turned to see that three more of the dog skeletons were right behind him ready to finish him off
Courage then, came through for the cowardly teen, before exclaiming pointedly, "Hey dog skeletons? Batter Up!" he then used the bone as a weapon to destroy the dog bone guards.
"Alright Courage!/Ralright Rourage!" Scooby and Shaggy both exclaimed excitedly.
"We'll celebrate later, right now we gotta get back home and give Duncan back to the storm goddess," Courage wanted to get back to Muriel as soon as possible.
He raised the bone to the ceiling and began to spin it at a very face pace, making the bone essentially act like a drill.
After a good ten minutes, Shaggy, Scooby and Courage began to make progress through the ceiling and they all eventually made it to the surface again. All dirty but that did not matter right. Looking up, Shaggy, Scooby and Courage saw that the storm goddess was still yelling at Muriel.
"MINE!" Muriel yelled again.
"MINE!" the goddess yelled back.
"Ree, Ruriel sure can stand on her ground," Scooby whispered to himself so quietly that the whisper was almost non-existent.
"HEY! WE GOT SOMEONE FOR YOU!" Shaggy shouted to the storm goddess.
The storm goddess noticed the trio and and see her dog, as well.
"Duncan," the goddess cheered happily with the storm dying down immediately, she then kneeled down next to the bone. "Good doggy."
But then everyone noticed something really bad, Duncan ignored her and kept on licking the bone.
"Oh-no," Courage exclaimed worriedly.
Shaggy lowered his head, as he groaned, "Oh man."
"Re're too late," Scooby gasped with despair.
"You love that bone more than me, oh, how could you?" the goddess said angrily, before weeping a bit before looking to Courage again, much to his alarm. "Good doggy, sweet doggy."
"Roh-no!" Scooby cried in a panicked voice.
"Courage!" Shaggy gasped, his heart twisting in deep grief. He couldn't believe it, why did Duncan had to pick the bone over the storm goddess? We're gonna lose him!
Courage felt icy terror coursing through was trying futility to get out of the storm goddess' arms now what? They rescue Duncan all for nothing, he turned to the thin beagle and notice he was staring at him and his owner, while still licking at the bone. Suddenly Courage had an idea.
Courage allowed himself to be picked up by the storm goddess, she then cuddled him with Courage hugging and licking her back.
Shaggy and Scooby looked at one another wide-eyed, wondering if Courage had lost his mind.
Muriel suddenly screamed, Shaggy and Scooby both immediately ran over to her and helped her up.
Muriel then noticed that the storm goddess was holding and cuddling Courage again. But Courage give his family a wink as if to say, 'Trust me.'
Shaggy felt a burst of pride and whispered to Muriel, "Play along Aunt Muriel."
Muriel smiled, "That's my Courage."
Shaggy and Scooby were both amazed at the Courage's cleverness.
Courage then kept licking the goddess but stopped when the pink beagle heard a loud almost demonic growl, looking towards Duncan, Courage saw that he was becoming extremely jealous. It's working!
Duncan soon stopped licking the bone before turning around and barking at the storm goddess, he then jumped into the goddess' arms sending Courage flying into Shaggy's.
"That was unexpected," Courage said as the teen lowered him to the ground.
"Like, it sure was little pink dude," Shaggy replied, agreeing with him.
"Oh, Duncan, my sweet Duncan, you come back to me," the goddess said, as she ran off with her dog and cloud in tow. "Good doggy, sweet doggy, understanding doggy."
The family just started at the goddess with astonishment for several seconds, before Shaggy broke the silence, "So…who's hungry?"
The family were sitting in what used to be the living room, Muriel was in her chair with Courage on her lap. Shaggy and Scooby were both on Eustace's chair which Scooby found nearby. They were all resting while watching the sun come up over the horizon.
"Isn't it grand boys? Everybody got what they wanted," Muriel asked with a smile.
Courage give his reply with a chuckle as he lifted the dog bone with a smile and began to lick it.
"Rey, save some for me," Scooby chuckled, as he also licked the giant bone.
"All's wells that ends well," Shaggy said with his mouth full, chewing on some of his box of Scooby Snacks.
"You said it," Courage agreed with a smile.
"I wonder how Eustace is doing?" Muriel asked, wondering where her husband is.
"Beats me, but I'm sure he'll have the courage to make it home in his boxers," Shaggy snickered.
Shaggy, Scooby and Courage all shared a good laugh.
"Scooby-Dooby-Doo!" Scooby shouted.
