It was laundry day at the farmhouse, and Shaggy, Scooby and Courage were all helping Muriel with the laundry.
Courage took a big whiff of Muriel's freshly dried apron, it smelled fresh like very healthy flowers in a garden, "Heavenly," he muttered.
"I love the smell of Muriel's laundry," Shaggy mumbled, after smelling his freshly dried clothes.
"Re too," Scooby agreed, as he also smelled Shaggy, fresh clean clothes.
"Aunt Muriel like, how did you get these clothes to smell so groovy?" Shaggy asked, as Scooby helped her fold some of her clothes.
"It's my homemade fabric softener," Muriel explained as she showed the trio the glass bottle containing the fabric softener before taking a whiff of it as well, "Ahh."
"Eee!" Courage exclaimed as he took the bottle, he turned to Shaggy and Scooby. A flicker of mischief gleamed in his eyes, he give out little laugh before he splash the bottle to Shaggy and Scooby.
"Hey!" Shaggy shouted, laughing.
Scooby turned to the little pink beagle, he saw Courage laughing a little.
"Roh yeah?" Scooby said, looking at Courage mischievously. He splash a little fabric liquid onto Courage.
"Hey!" Courage yelled, through fits of giggles.
"Rou started it," Scooby teased, tickling Courage.
Muriel pulled out one of Eustace's shirts from the dryer, although, his shirt seemed stiff as a board, "Too bad Eustace won't let me use it on his clothes."
"Like, I don't think that will be a problem," Snaggy force out between laughs, as he pointed to Scooby and Courage, who were both laughing so hard on the floor, they could barley stand up while the bottle was empty. Muriel extended her hand towards Courage.
Courage spluttered out between laughs as he handed her the bottle, "Sorry Muriel."
"Re're just having fun," Scooby added apologetic.
"That's okay boys, it looks like I'll be needing to make a new batch," Muriel said, as she held the bottle upside down to see if there was any left, "But I'm all out of my special secret ingredients. Time for a trip to town."
Eustace, Shaggy, Scooby and Courage were all already in the truck waiting for Muriel, Eustace was grumbling, heading to the truck, Muriel got into the the front before letting her husband know she was set. Grumbling, Eustace started the vehicle before driving towards Nowhere town.
The family were now in a small town, walking towards the store.
"So, what the first stop?" Shaggy asked.
"Oh, our first stop is Dil's general store." Muriel answered.
However, they were greeted by a familiar face as they reached the store.
"Good day to you, Muriel, Hello, Scooby and Courage," the lady greeted with a smile before each pet on the heads to Scooby and Courage. She then turned to Shaggy and smiled, "And good day to Shaggy."
"Hi," Shaggy waved.
"And good day to you too," Muriel replied with a gentle smile, before the family entered the store.
"RI got it," Scooby said, when he noticed a lady and her child were about to exit the store, so he held the door open for them, "Romen and children first," he said in a stuffy sophisticated English accent.
Shaggy and Courage laughed at that.
"Morning," the lady said as she exited the door before turning to the Great Dane, "Thank you, dear dog."
"Rour welcome," Scooby said, as he let the door close.
"Like dudes, Nowhere has to be the nicest place in all of existence," Shaggy said happily, as the three best friends followed Muriel to one of the aisles in the back.
"Reah, everybody is in a good mood today," Scooby agreed with a brightened mood.
"But you wouldn't expect that if the first person you met was the farmer," Courage said frowning when he saw Eustace cut the line in the deli meats section.
"Courage, be a dear, and get that vial on the top shelf," Muriel said, getting the trio's attention.
"Okay," Courage replied before climbing up the shelves to retrieve a bottle that vaguely looked like the bottle that Muriel kept her special secret fabric softener in.
"Thank you, Courage," Muriel said as she placed the bottle into her handmade basket.
"You're welcome," Courage said gleefully.
However, the family became confused a sudden pink wall went through the store and them before leaving.
"Oh, my," Muriel gasped in surprise.
"Like, what was that?" Shaggy asked, with a frown.
"I have no idea Shaggy," Courage shrugged honestly.
"Reats me," Scooby added in confusion.
"Come on boys, let's get some ground beef for tonight's dinner," Muriel said, unaware of what just happened.
"Like, oh yeah, Aunt Muriel is gonna cook burgers tonight," Shaggy said happily.
"Roh boy, burgers!" Scooby exclaimed, licking his chops hungrily.
Courage rolled his eyes, while smiling at the hungry duo, "Oh you two," he chuckled.
The family made their way to the deli section, where the trio noticed that Jean Bon was working here today.
"Like what's up Jean?" Shaggy greeted, to which, surprisingly, he only huffed in annoyance. Like, that was weird.
"Could I get two pounds of ground beef, if you please?" Muriel asked.
"Grind it YOURSELF!" Jean growled out before picking up a slab of beef and THROWING IT at Muriel.
Shaggy, Scooby and Courage couldn't believe what Jean Bon just did.
Eustace only laugh in cruelty, "Good one."
"Well, it will stay fresher that way," Muriel said, as he took the beef of her face and unsure of what to make at the moment.
"Rey, what was that for?" Scooby asked pointing at Jean Bon, in shock that Jean would act this way.
Yet, instead of answering, he turned to Scooby and Courage.
"Hey, dogs!" Jean shouted before turning around and grabbing a marker.
The cowardly trio were confused about what he was doing, but realized that he changed the special on the menu today from 'Fresh Pork' to 'Fresh Dog'.
This made Scooby and Courage's hearts hammered and they let out terrified screams and hurried up outside of the store, leaving a concerned Shaggy and Muriel.
"Scoob! Little pink dude! Wait!" Shaggy called out to his best friends, as he dashed out of the store.
Looking around, Shaggy saw something that the cowardly teen never thought he would see in Nowhere.
"Like, what's going on?" Shaggy asked, really shock as he saw people needlessly arguing with each other and, in some cases, brutalizing each other with weapons.
"RI don't know," Scooby ventured, he was equally as shock.
"Me either," Courage said, equally as bewildered.
Just then, Muriel was THROWN OUT of the store, Shaggy immediately came to his aunt's aid.
"Aunt Muriel, are you okay?" Shaggy asked with apt concern.
"I'm alright dear," Muriel replied, as her nephew help her up.
"And if you ever say thank you in my store again, I'll wash your mouth out with raw meat!" Jean threatened, from the store.
Shaggy, Scooby and Courage stood there frozen in shock, they had never seen Jean Bon so angry before. Their entire bodies started to tremble, they're terrified he would come back and do something worse.
"Like, that pig dude sounds scary when he's angry," Shaggy whimpered.
"Reah, he doesn't sound friendly anymore," Scooby agreed, his voice trembling.
"This is even worse when we thought he was a cannibal," Courage whimpered out.
"Hey! What do you think you're doing!" the trio heard Eustace shout.
Turning around, Shaggy, Scooby and Courage saw him running towards his truck, where a police officer was taking off the truck's wheels.
"Oh!" the office gasped before running off with the tires.
"Why you lousy tire-taking-" Eustace began, but stopped when he spotted a stroller.
"GET OUT OF MY WAY!" someone shout.
Turning to the voice, Shaggy, Scooby and Courage saw the lady that always wore a parachute chasing down a scared man, and in her hands was a ROCKET LAUNCHER that she fired to try and KILL the man.
"Oh, my," Muriel said, worried and confused at what was happening.
"Like, this town is going chaos!" Shaggy spoke up, he was practically clawing at his hair.
"Yeah, something strange is going on, or my name's Discord, the spirit of chaos and disharmony, and it's not," Courage said a bit shakily, clearly intimidated by how much people went nuts all around them just now.
"RI wanna go home," Scooby whimpered worriedly.
Shaggy, Scooby and Courage saw Eustace attempting to put stroller wheels on his truck.
"Eustace! Everyone's gone daft," Muriel said, as she opened the truck door.
"And it's like, not on full moon either," Shaggy added, feeling uneasy.
"Muriel! Shaggy-haired-fella! Shut up, and let's git," Eustace shouted ,as he kept on trying to use the stroller wheels.
However, as soon as he finished installing the first wheel, a man in a blue suit walked up to him.
"Stealing from a baby, huh?" the man asked.
"Yeah! What of it!?" Eustace challenged, while standing back up.
Yet, to the trio's surprise, the man smiled and shook his hand vigorously.
"That's what Nowhere needs in a leader," the man answered, "I nominate you for mayor!"
"WHAT!?/RHAT!?" Shaggy, Scooby and Courage exclaimed in shock in unison. What was the man saying!?
The man led Eustace to the corner where a conveniently decorated banner that read mayor was hanging.
"IDIOTS AND SLIMEBUCKETS!" the man announced over the microphone, getting everyone's attention, "I give you a candidate for mayor, the meanest creep in Nowhere."
"SHUT UP! YOU STUPID PEOPLE!" Eustace demanded, which only caused the people to cheer for him.
"Aunt Muriel, can we please go home?" Shaggy whimpered frantically, clearly uncomfortable about this whole thing.
"Of course dear, I'm going to get Eustace," Muriel said as she exited the truck, only to hit a young girl accidentally, "Ooh! Are you okay?"
"Help! this CREEPY OLD LADY is being NICE TO ME!" the little girl shouted, getting everyone else's attention.
Panic gripped Shaggy, Scooby and Courage's hearts like a knife stabbing into them. What was going to happen to Muriel?
"Oh!" everyone gasped.
"The candidate wants the woman captured and reeducated so she'll learn how to be cruel and rotten," The man in the blue announced.
"Just like me," Eustace added with a smug tone that caused the crowd to cheer.
But before either Shaggy, Scooby or Courage could react, two policemen suddenly appeared and dragged Muriel away.
"Eustace! What are you doing!?" Muriel shouted, as she was dragged away.
The trio chased after them to try and save her, yet, they all failed and only Shaggy ended up tearing the basket Muriel still had with her.
"AUNT MURIEL!/RURIEL!/MURIEL!" Shaggy, Scooby and Courage all cried out in horror.
"Oh man," Shaggy whimpered urgently.
"That young man and those dogs are showing sympathy, arrest and reeducate them," the man declared, with another two policemen showing up suddenly.
Courage screamed in fear at the two policeman.
"RUN!" Scooby shouted sounding truly afraid, as he Shaggy and Courage ran away from the police as fast as they can.
Shaggy, Scooby and Courage had been running towards the desert in the mountain-scapes, from the place, and if that wasn't bad enough, now they're being chase by Eustace. They stopped to rest for a bit, the cowardly trio were all breathing hard.
"Like, dudes, I think we lost them," Shaggy panted.
"What now?" Courage asked, while looking around.
"Rind out what caused all the citizens of Nowhere to act like jerks," Scooby answered.
"Like, what do you think could of cause it?" Shaggy asked.
"I don't know Shaggy, but we need to find out so we can unreversed the effects of this, and save Muriel," Courage pointed out, desperately.
Scooby turned his head, and his eyes widened as he saw what was coming towards them, "Rumm, guys…" his voice wavered with a sense of urgency, and he gave his best friends a panicked look.
Shaggy and Courage turned towards to what Scooby was looking at, with a look of horror and realization.
"HERE I COME! I'M A DOG AND NEPHEW BAGGIN' MACHINE!" Eustace declared, while running at them with a giant net.
Shaggy, Scooby and Courage screamed in fear, as they ran towards the side of the mountain, and hid behind it, praying that Eustace doesn't find them there, they're all scared.
"What do we do?! What do we do?!" Courage yelped.
Shaggy and Scooby open their mouths but were both interrupted by an animal snorting, before either of them could reply. Turning around, the cowardly trio saw a deer eating a bush.
Shaggy felt a cool sense of relief, "Oh, like, it's just a deer grazing," he smiled and waved his hand dismissing his own fear.
"Huh?" Courage begin to notice something else besides the deer, his eyes begin to widen and his pulse accelerated, pounding into his ears like a giant fist banging against a thick wooden door as he started off into the distance.
Following his gaze, Shaggy and Scooby noticed that Courage spotted the same PINK WALL from earlier returning.
Shaggy, Scooby and Courage fearfully screamed at the sight of the curtain, as they all brace themselves in terror for the inevitable. Luckily, the pink wall passed through the trio without incident after a few seconds. When they didn't feel anything different, Shaggy, Scooby and Courage dared to open their eyes again.
"Rare you guys okay?" Scooby asked.
"I think so," Courage answered as he and Shaggy checked themselves over, they're just as stunned.
"We're good Scoob," Shaggy smiled, giving the Great Dane a thumbs up.
However, the three best friends soon heard snarling nearby, looking towards the source, they noticed that it was coming from the same deer that was grazing on the bush. But this time, it became near-feral and snarling before ripping the bush out of the ground before kicking it away and letting out a cackle afterward.
"Like, what caused that?" Shaggy wondered aloud.
"RI don't know Raggy," Scooby just shrugged.
A hypothesis struck Courage, "Wait a minute…" he theorized, putting everything together, "That pink curtain, we saw earlier at the store, what if it's causing the townspeople to all act so cruel?"
"Rut then, how come it didn't effect us?" Scooby asked, not liking the sound of that.
"I don't know Scoob," Courage responded, he had no idea how he and his best friends aren't effect by the curtain. The thought of it made his heart beat faster than normal, so far, he, Shaggy, Scooby and Muriel were the only ones who seemed to be immune to the curtain's effects, but would it last?
Shaggy looked up, "Like dudes, look!"
Looking to where Shaggy was pointing at, Scooby and Courage indeed saw that it was the curtain going back into the mountain.
"Come on, we gotta follow it," Courage commanded.
Not wanting to lose it, Shaggy, Scooby and Courage quickly made their way up the mountain, where the three found the entrance into the mountain. Seeing that it was about to close, the trio entered before it did and nearly gasped when they realized they were in a secret laboratory. However, Shaggy, Scooby and Courage quickly looked around for a hiding place in case the owner was here with them.
"Huh?" Courage noticed something unexpected.
Shaggy, Scooby and Courage saw a man watching in admiration as the pink wall went back into its device.
"My cruelty curtain is a success, and tomorrow, I shall unleash it everywhere," the man declared.
"Zoinks," Shaggy looked horrified, "So that's what causing Nowhere to act like jerks."
"Row are we gonna stop it?" Scooby asked.
However, the man heard this and turned around before quickly spotting the terrified trio as their faces went pale.
"Hi there..." Courage smiled sheepishly, as he wave.
"Intruders! well, I guess IT'S CURTAINS FOR YOU!" the man declared before activating his machine again, the cruelty curtain came out of the rod and quickly made its way TOWARDS the three best friends.
Shaggy, Scooby and Courage gasped, they all shut their eyes and held their breath expecting to change and be crue. However, like the previous times, they were all unaffected by it, slowly the trio cracked their eyes open...nothing happened to them.
"Like, we're okay," Shaggy assured, allowing himself to calm down.
"RI don't feel jerky," Scooby replied.
"Whew," Courage breathed out.
"You all should be cruel! What keeps you all warm and soft and fluffy, when everyone else is cold and hard?!" the man asked.
Courage then just remembered earlier that day, while he was playing with the fabric softener with Shaggy and Scooby. It's my homemade fabric softener. He remembered Muriel's statement. "Guys, I figure out why we aren't effect by the curtain!"
"Like, how little pink dude?" Shaggy asked.
"It was Muriel's fabric softener, it was protecting us, that's why we didn't turn cruel!" Courage informed them, as he pulled out all the supplies needed to make Muriel's homemade fabric softener, before showing it to everyone.
"Row, so it was those things that were keeping us from becoming jerks the whole time," Scooby confirmed.
"Surely, you don't think those common items alone could thwart the effects of my cruelty curtain," the man said.
"Oh yes they can," Shaggy retorted with insolence.
Suddenly, Shaggy, Scooby and Courage heard someone banging on the metal door with the man going to see who it was.
"I KNOW YOU'RE IN THERE DOGS AND NEPHEW! I'M GOING TO GET YOU!" Eustace shouted, while using his net to bang against the door.
"You can't join the cruelty commission! IT'S JUST ME!" the man shouted, once he opened the door.
"Ruick, while he's distracted," Scooby said as he, Shaggy and Courage rushed over to the control panel.
Courage opened one of the consoles and dumped the ingredients into it before pulling a red lever.
"Oh!" the man gasped when he heard the sound of his machine turning on, "YOU'RE A MEANIE!" he growled, as he grabbed Courage's neck and start to strangle him.
"Like, let our best pal go!" Shaggy demanded, as Scooby snarled his teeth at the old man.
But everyone stopped when they all heard rumbling coming from his machines. For a moment, everyone thought it was going to explode but were proven wrong when the curtain came back, except this time it was blue in color instead of pink. Plus, it seemed like the effects were reversed as when it passed through the man, he smiled.
"My clothes... My hair... So soft and cuddly, I never felt like this in my life. I want everyone to feel this way," the man said as he pulled each of the trio into a hug, making them uncomfortable.
The cowardly trio then were quickly reminded that while they did solve one problem, they had another one that they needed to deal with right now.
"I'm comin' to GET YOU!" Eustace shouted before laughing, yet, he became confused when the curtain passed through him. Unfortunately, it seemed like he was IMMUNE to the effects of the curtain, "YOU'RE MINE! stinkin, dogs and nephew!"
"Oh come on! Does anything ever effect this angry old dude!?" Shaggy exclaimed with a hand to his forehead.
"Well if the cannon balls of sadness doesn't effect him, why not the curtain?" Courage said sarcastically.
"Ruys, right now we need to run!" Scooby shouted, realizing they're not out of the woods yet.
Shaggy, Scooby and Courage screamed as they moved out of the way to avoid getting caught in his net, unfortunately, the man was caught in the net, yet, he didn't seem to mind as he continued to smile.
The cowardly trio continued to run, as Eustace chased them with the net, they all managed to ran back into town. They all passed a police officer and grabbing Eustace by his shirt just as he reached them.
"Huh?" Eustace asked, confused.
"YAY!" the townsfolk cheered, as the officer took him away.
"Well, that takes care of him, now, let's go find Muriel," Courage said, as he and his best friends made their way over to the man.
The family expect for Eustace were home watching TV.
"Isn't our new mayor the sweetest man?" Muriel asked, as she finished folding the clothes while watching the man get inaugurated as mayor.
"Mm-hmm," Courage agreed.
"Like, he sure is Aunt Muriel," Shaggy spoke up, as he ate his burger.
"I just hope Eustace gets home in time to eat the hamburgers I made him," Muriel said, worried.
"RI don't think he'll be back for a while," Scooby replied grinning mischievously.
In a unknown room, Eustace was chained by the neck, forcing to pet the hamster.
"Pet the cute little critter! Make nice," the mysterious voice ordered.
"Oh!" Eustace grumbled, irritated.
Yet, the hamster didn't seem to mind as he climbed up Eustace before snuggling into his cheek.
"BETTER!" the voice said.
"LIKE THIS!" The hamster suddenly shouted, while reaching into its back pocket and pulling out a HAMMER. It then smiled wickedly, before raising it over its head and bringing it down on Eustace's HEAD.
Eustace shouted in pain as the sickening sound of bone breaking resonated inside the concrete room. And before Eustace passed out, he said one last thing, "CHOPPED MEAT!"
Well that's all for this chapter, next will be Feast of the Bullfrogs. Let me guys know in the reviews/comments of what should I do for the future episodes or next chapter. And what Courage should say in future chapters. Until then this is vakarns signing out.
