"And now the bitch is fucking jealous and wants Kagome to divorce Inuyasha so she can marry him, and when Kagome refused, they kidnapped her son and when that didn't work - they kidnapped her to blackmail Inuyasha into doing what they want him too." Sango fumed as she finished filling in all what happened in their lives from the arranged marriage up until right now.
"We need to hurry and find them at any cost because Kagome's son won't have a lot of time the longer he stays out of the hospital. And Kagome being pregnant and in their hands isn't in our favor either." Miroku added as he drove towards the warehouse knowing that they would need to be where both Inuyasha and Kagome were taken from.
"Hospital?" Izayoi asked with a worried expression.
"Hiro has leukemia and has to have constant medical treatment in order to survive, he's been missing for a whole day now." Sango informed.
"Oh, the poor dear." Izayoi gasped as her heart broke for a little boy, that she hadn't got a chance to meet, his mom and their unborn grandchild.
"So, we're on an even shorter time limit than we started off on." Toga spoke as he thought about the best way to find the missing people.
"Yes." Miroku agreed as he pulled up and stopped in front of the warehouse before getting out along with the others.
They all walked into the warehouse, each taking their own section to have a more thorough look and to avoid wasting time to look places that someone had already looked, they looked for everything and anything to help them with their search.
Sesshomaru saw something on the ground and knelt down so he could pick it up. "They have her chained up in a basement?" He asked as he continued to look at the picture.
"Huh?" Miroku asked as both he and Sango walked up to stand beside him so they could see the picture as well.
Not having seen the picture before, Sango and Miroku both felt physically sick at the sight that Kagome was in.
"Oh God." Sango muttered with her hand over her mouth and tears in her eyes as Izayoi and Toga came up to take a peek at the picture as well.
"I think I know where this is." Toga informed as he took the picture away from Sesshomaru so he could study it a little closer.
"You do?" Sango asked as she felt a little hope start to bloom in her chest.
"Yes." Toga said with a nod as he looked up at Sango. "I remember this graffiti artwork from a meeting I had with this weird guy a few weeks ago."
"Well, let's go get her." Sango demanded as she started walking towards the car determined to do whatever it took to get both her best friends back.
"Wait." Toga said making Sango stop and look back at him.
"What?" Sango asked knowing that their time was shortening for them to be able to rescue Kagome and Hiro while they were alive.
"This dude is dangerous; we need to have a solid plan before just walking in there blind." Toga said.
Sango's shoulders slumped some, however, she knew that her father was right as she listened to what the plan was.
"So, this guy you were having a meeting with, what was his name?" Miroku asked thinking he already had a pretty good idea on who it was.
"Naraku." Toga answered.
"What was the meeting about?" Sango asked feeling her heart sink some knowing that her father was right when he said that he was dangerous and if he was looking for partnering by anyway with her father than he will be almost impossible to beat.
"It was about using the services of my blacksmith, Totosai, remember him?" Toga asked.
"Yes, I remember him." Sango said as she nodded her head. "Did you let him consult with Totosai?"
"I did." Toga nodded.
"Dad, you just possible made him the most dangerous person in the city." Sango complained as her heart dropped to her stomach.
"Business is business," Toga said as he shrugged his shoulders, "I have to do what I need to in order to pay the bills."
Sango knew that what her father said was equivalent to an apology, she let out a sigh. "Yeah, I know, it's not your fault. What did Totosai commission for Naraku?"
"A bracelet." Toga answered.
"A bracelet?" Miroku asked with a cocked eyebrow.
"Not just any bracelet." Toga continued. "This bracelet allows the wearer to shapeshift into whatever or whoever they want to."
Both Sango and Miroku's hearts stopped in their chests, this wasn't good.
"Let's come up with a plan on what we are going to do." Sesshomaru suggested. "Going up against this kind of evil with no plan will only lead to defeat."
Sango and Miroku pushed their fears aside in order to be viable participants in the discussion of how they were going to get Kagome, Inuyasha and Hiro back where they belonged.
*X*
"Well, are you going to tell me?" Kikyo asked with a slight scowl as Inuyasha stalled in telling her what his name was. "Or do I have to go beat it out of Kagome?"
"No, it's Inuyasha Takahashi." Inuyasha answered unwillingly, not knowing what else to do.
"Takahashi, as in the Takahashi enterprises?" Naraku asked as he put his newspaper down for the first time since the conversation had started.
Inuyasha mentally sighed and rolled his eyes as he answered with the affirmative.
"There," Kikyo sat back down with a smile on her face as she picked the pen up to write his name down, "now - was that so hard? Looks like I got a good one, huh daddy?"
"Not hardly." Inuyasha mumbled. "My family and I don't get along, so none of the family money actually goes to me."
"Oh." Kikyo mumbled as she looked towards Inuyasha. "Well, no matter, we'll fix that little problem with time. You have to start realizing what's owed to you as your birth right, Yashie."
"It's Inuyasha." He said as he had to hold back his vomit on Kikyo's play with his name.
"Oh, don't be silly, Yashi." Kikyo waved him off as she finished filling out the forms for their marriage license.
"Okay, you have my name," he grumbled with a roll of his eyes, "you can let Kagome and Hiro go." Inuyasha said as he took a few more steps towards the table.
"Oh, silly man," Kikyo laughed with a shake of her head, "I can't do that."
"What?" Inuyasha asked confused as his heart dropped. "Why the fuck not?"
"Because neither you or her have signed the divorce papers yet." Kikyo reminded him.
Inuyasha felt as if his heart was going to break in two at even the thought of divorcing Kagome.
Kikyo sensed Inuyasha's hesitation as she stood up before looking at Inuyasha. "Daddy," she spoke to Naraku even though her eyes didn't leave Inuyasha's, "it's time we paid a visit to Hiro and Kagome."
"No!" Inuyasha yelled as he took a step forward. "Damn it, just give me the papers." He said softly feeling defeated, however, knowing that once this was all over, he'd be able to remarry Kagome.
Kikyo snatched the papers away from Inuyasha when he was finished signing his name. "Okay daddy, it's time to put the next phase of our plan into action."
Naraku stood up from his chair as he brought his hand up before him as he tinkered around the bracelet that he wore around his wrist.
Inuyasha's eyes grew wide as he watched Naraku transform into a look alike of him before walking towards the door to leave. "Wait, why are you leaving looking like me?"
"Just to give Kagome an extra push if she refuses to sign the papers." Kikyo answered as Naraku turned around shooting Inuyasha with a dart gun that made him pass out.
*X*
Kagome's head was bowed with her eyes closed, though she wasn't asleep, as she still hung from the ceiling of the dark basement. She still didn't know how long she had been down here, though, her arms were numb - and had been for a while now, she could hardly feel them. She regularly tried to move her finger, just to make sure they still moved - though - now she couldn't feel if they moved or not. That didn't stop her from trying every now and then, though, because she knew it was important to keep them moving even though she couldn't feel them anymore.
"Kagome."
Kagome's head shot up and looked around frantically for the man who whispered her name. When she found the source of the voice her eyes teared up, "you found me," she cried when she saw Inuyasha.
"Are you okay?"
"Oh, Sha," Kagome burst into tears, "I-I lost the baby! I'm so sorry! It's all my fault!" She sobbed.
"Shh, it'll be okay."
"I hurt so bad!" Kagome sobbed, her arms felt as if thousands of needles were pressing in and out of her skin at a fast rate, her wrists were still bleeding and raw with pain and her stomach was still contracting with the loss of her baby.
"I know, just hold on a little while longer."
"I-I can't feel my arms." Kagome cried. "Can you let me down?"
"I'm sorry."
Kagome watched as Inuyasha disappeared right before her eyes and cried harder. "He wasn't really here." She bowed her head again as her body began to shake, it was getting colder down in the basement as each minute passed. "I'm seeing things now; guess I'm going crazy."
She heard a scoff and lifted her head again to see what she knew now was a vision of Inuyasha, something her mind made up to try to hold onto sanity. "You had to have been crazy from the start when you decided to marry me and to stay with me once you found out what I did for a living." He joked.
Kagome choked out a laugh from her sobs. "Yeah, I guess you're right." She sniffled as she watched him as he walked up to stand right in front of her.
"I wouldn't want you any other way." He admitted with a half-smile. "Now, please stop crying, I can't take it."
"Am I going to be okay?" Kagome asked with another sniffle. "Is Hiro?"
"Just know that we are doing everything in our power to try and find you guys." The vision Inuyasha said as the basement door was opened causing him to disappear.
Kagome watched the stairs to see who came down them.
"Mom?" Kagome asked as the person reached the bottom of the steps and turned to face her, she was hopeful that her mom would save her from this. "Mom, please help me." She begged as the tears continued to flow down her face.
"Help you?" Kagome's mother sneered. "No, I won't." She said as she walked closer to Kagome.
"What?" Kagome asked as her heartbeat faster. "Why not?"
"Other than you standing in the way of Kikyo marrying the man that was meant for her and that she rightfully deserves?" Kagome's mom asked. "Oh, let's not forget that you're the reason that my business is failing! We have nothing now!"
"She's the one that didn't want him, she forced me to marry him in promise to pay my son's medical bills - she made me sell myself to him! Or do you not remember?" Kagome spat. "It's your fault that your business is failing for not upholding your end of the deal, if you want to blame someone, blame yourself."
"Shut up!" Kagome's mom yelled as she pulled out a pistol and aimed it at her daughter. "You will sign these papers or die! You see, Kagome, when people stand in our way - people die, people like your father."
"What... did you say?" Kagome asked in a dark whisper.
"Your father found out I was having an affair, that Kikyo wasn't his and wanted a divorce. If you remember, the business was in his name, he started it. He wanted to take both you and the business away from me, that didn't work for me. I told him he could have you but to leave the business to me, he didn't want to hear it - saying both the business and you belonged to him. So, I killed him to get what I wanted." Kagome's mother said as she cocked the gun.
"You... killed... my father?" Kagome asked as she tried to wrap the works around her mind. Looking back on it now, she didn't remember her mother ever crying over her dead husband and she did move on rather quickly, she supposed that she was too wrapped up in her own grieving that she didn't realize her mother's lack of grieving.
Before her mom could say anything, the basement door opened once again as more than one person began walking down the stairs.
Kagome focused on the stairs waiting to see who it was that walked down them this time. When she saw her eyes bugged out and her jaw fell open as her heart shattered into a million pieces. She couldn't believe what she was seeing, Inuyasha with his arm around Kikyo's shoulders while her arm was around his waist.
"What?" Kagome asked unbelievably as she stared at the two in front of her, shocked.
"What?" 'Inuyasha' laughed crudely as he hugged Kikyo closer to him. "You didn't think I actually cared about you, did you? No, you were nothing but a business deal. A repayment - if you will - of the money that was stolen from me."
"You're lying!" Kagome accused as more tears threatened to fall. "You don't mean that!"
'Don't listen to them.' The Inuyasha that Kagome made up in her mind whispered right next to her.
"The only one lying, is you." Kikyo snickered. "You're lying to yourself if you don't believe your reality that's in front of you right now."
"I'm gonna cut right to the chase here." 'Inuyasha' said as he held out a piece of paper in front of Kagome which she looked at and saw Inuyasha's name, his real name, signed on one of the lines. "I've already signed the divorce papers, as you can see, now it's your turn to sign them."
Kagome felt her heart break in a million pieces as she shook her head back and forth as tears flowed unchecked down her face. "No! I won't do it!" She couldn't understand why, but she refused to give up on the best moments she's had in her life since her father had been alive.
'That's right, don't give in, don't forget what we have.' The Inuyasha inside Kagome's head whispered as the 'Inuyasha' that was standing in front of her let go of Kikyo before walking the few feet to stand directly in front of Kagome before roughly grabbing her face making her cry out in pain.
"Listen here you fucking whore, you will sign these fucking papers, or you will die! Either way, I'll get what I want." 'Inuyasha' growled as he roughly let go of Kagome's face.
"Whore?" Kagome whispered as even more tears fell down her face as her heart cracked even more. "You swore that you'd never call me that."
"Hah!" 'Inuyasha' laughed. "As if I'd care about anything that you'd say. Naw, I was just waiting for this cute little thing here to come to her senses and agree to marry me. I could never truly love someone like you." He snarled as he placed his arm back around Kikyo's shoulders. "I won't ask you again, Kagome, sign the papers - now!"
'No, don't listen to them!' Kagome heard the whispered words of her sanity trying to stay intact. However, she was numb all over, her will to fight, to hold on longer was fading away, she was tired, cold and just wanted this nightmare to end.
"Fine," Kagome choked out a sob, "you win, I'll sign the papers - just let Hiro and me go, please."
Kagome's mom smirked as she pressed a button on the wall that abruptly dropped Kagome on the ground. They all laughed as Kagome's piercing screams of agony filled the basement as her arms were dropped, causing immense pain to shoot through her body.
Kikyo grabbed the divorce papers from the imposter before throwing them and a pen on the ground in front of Kagome. "Sign them bitch!"
Kagome used her last bit of strength to will her arms to move in order for her to grab the pen and sign the papers. She figured it might not be her best signature, but it was hers and bounding. Undoing everything that made her happy, now she didn't care if she died or not, everything has been taken from her, so it didn't matter if she lived or died. Maybe she'd meet Hiro on the other side if she did die, she wasn't for sure if he was still alive or not, but if she died then he wouldn't last much longer.
"Good girl." 'Inuyasha' said causing, for the first time, a shiver of disgust to run up and down her spine instead of tingles of appreciation.
"Yes," Kagome's mother said as she raised up the gun once again to aim it at Kagome, "you did such a great job, such a pity now that both you and your son must die in order to solidify the impossibility of your ever coming back into our lives." She said before pulling the trigger and shooting Kagome through the stomach. The three of them then left the basement, leaving Kagome to die by herself.
'Kagome stay awake.' Kagome's mental Inuyasha said as she felt herself closing her eyes and giving into the darkness.
"You don't want me." Kagome whispered holding on just a bit longer - as she heard something like a door being broke down. "You lied to me; you don't want me. You lied, you lied." She said as she accepted the darkness that was quickly encasing her.
Hope you enjoyed this chapter! Until next time, bye!
