Third POV

"Hey there, little girl. What are you doing out here by yourself?"

A small group of creepy guys were standing in front of a little girl with a rabbit doll on her left hand who was sitting down on a bench at the park. They figured she would be easy prey she they saw she was alone and decided to mess with her.

"Little kids shouldn't be outside without a adult supervision." Another creep says with a smirk. "Didn't your mommy and daddy tell you that?"

The little girl calmly looks at them. "I never really knew my father and my mother died in an unfortunate car accident."

"Aww, what a shame." The one who seems to be the leader says, feigning pity. "The little girl is living all by herself with no one but a puppet to rely on." He gives the girl a creepy smirk. "Why don't you come along with us? I promise we'll good care of you."

"Hey! Yoshinon is all Yoshino needs to protect her!" The puppet shouts at them. "Go play with some other little girl, you pedophiles!"

The leader did not look happy about being insulted by a puppet. "You got a big mouth for a measly hand puppet!" He growls, snatching the puppet of thr girl's hand.

"Hey!" The girl cries out in response to her friend being taken. She reaches out for her puppet friend, but the leader pulls her back, and then the other two grab her arms and restrain her.

"What's wrong? Don't want to lose your little friend?" The leader taunted her, holding the puppet mockingly. "We'll give her back. You just need to do everything we say." The creeps chuckle maliciously, imagining the things they'll do to the puppet. However, what they couldn't see were invisible puppet strings extending from the girl's fingers and into the puppet.

"You know, it's not nice to pick on a little girl." The leader hears a voice right next to him and turns to look at the puppet, who suddenly turns to look directly at him. "You naughty lecher."

The leader screams in shock, thinking that the puppet was alive, and lets go of the puppet in fright. Instead of dropping to the ground, however, the puppet flies toward the goon holding the girl's right arm and rams him hard in the face, making him let go. With her right arm now free, the girl clenches her hand into a fist and nails the other goon in the stomach. The goon lets go of her to hold his stomach in pain, before getting knocked to the ground as the girl does a backflip kick right in his chin. The first goon tries to grab her again, but the girl grabs his arm and tosses him over her body, slamming him onto the other goon, and following it up with an axe kick into his stomach for good measure.

The leader saw his two goons get beaten by a little girl and was pissed. "You little brat!" He snarls as he tries to run at her.

"Don't forget Yoshinon!" The puppet reminds him of her presence by flying into his face from the left and making him stagger back, before turning around and doing the same from the right. Finishing her assault, the puppet flies around and aims right in between his legs. "Nut shot!" She exclaims as she rams right into his family jewels, making him squeal in immense pain and buckle over, low enough for the girl to jump and perform a spin kick right in his face.

As the leader falls in defeat, the girl raises her left hand, allowing the puppet to reattach herself onto it. "For record, even though I look like a little kid, I'm actually over 30 years old. I'm more than capable of defending myself, especially from creeps like you." Having said those words, the girl calmly walks away.

Yoshino's POV

"Nyahaha! Did you see the look on his face when Yoshinon started moving!?" Yoshinon laughs as we exit the park. "Man, that was priceless!"

I laugh as well. "Hopefully that'll teach them to mess with little kids. And if they decide to continue doing so... Well, they better hope Kurumi isn't to see them."

It has been 20 years since my first encounter with Mio, when she gave me the challenge to pit my will against hers. Since then, I've been doing my best to think of a game plan for when canon comes around. Normally, when someone reincarnates into a character from a game, anime or manga, they would derail from canon entirely and live their new life as they want. But, that is in no way an option as Mio is now aware of the future, and will want to keep things the same since it follows along with her plan. So, I'm forced to comply with the canon storyline as well. I could probably get away with a few things, but everything has to stay the same until the events of Volume 19.

Which means I'll have to deal with Miku's mind control... Ugh, I hate how Miku acted during her arc. Afterwards, she's fine, but she was a complete bitch until Shido saved her from Tenka. Her backstory and how she became a Spirit kinda explains her actions, but deciding to want to enslave all of humanity just because of what one big-shot producer did is the mark of a tyrant, and you will not convince me otherwise.

Anyway, my rant about Miku aside, I've also been further refining my powers. I've been trying to see if I could turn Yoshinon into her scythe form from a distance, but with no success on my first couple of attempts. It's seems just like in the manga and anime, she needs to constantly be attached to my hand. Otherwise, she just remain dormant.

However, I then remembered how Yoshinon can use puppet strings to control Zadkiel from a distance. So, I decided to try it, using puppet strings to connect myself to Yoshinon. It ended up working as Yoshinon was once again active due to the strings connecting us, and I can use those strings as conduits to transfer my Reiryoku to Yoshinon and turn her into her scythe form, but the process is notably slower. So, as a small remedy to that problem, I also learned to make the strings invisible. People who are adept at using mana can still see them, but at the very least, I don't have to worry as much about random people snapping the strings and making her dormant.

This technique is only temporary until I can find a more permanent solution, but it does have its uses. Case in point, those three pedophiles back at the park.

Anyway, I still have some time before night. I wonder what else I can-

*BOOM!*

A loud fiery explosion interrupted my thoughts, and I stop to see smoke rising up in the distance.

"Whoa! Looks like there's a fire going on!" Yoshinon shouts, and I instantly knew what was happening.

"The Tengu Fire..." I whisper. This is it. This was the day that Kotori became a Spirit, and the day that Origami's parents die.

"What now, partner?" Yoshinon asks. "This sounds like a pretty big event."

"It is. It's one of the major plot points in the anime." I sigh. "And unfortunately, there's nothing we can do but play spectator."

"Really? We're just gonna watch? Not even try to save Origami's parents and give them that one extra year anyway?"

"Yes, because Mio is there as well. And she'll make sure everything happens accordingly."

Mio's POV

Good. Everything is happening as it should.

Kotori Itsuka has received Camael, and the Tengu Fire has happened. Which means, Origami Tobiichi should be running over here right now.

I can also feel Yoshino approaching this location, but it is of no concern. She knows that she cannot do anything to change this event without me knowing.

Now all I gotta do is wait for the Origami from the future to find me.

"There you are, Spirit!"

Except I do hear a voice coming for me, and it's not Origami.

Dodging I surprise attack, I look to see who my attacker really was, and I was surprised. She was a tall woman with tanned skin, short blonde hair, and a mature body. Based on the information from Yoshino, this woman is Minerva Riddell, original named Alice Riddell, Rank 2 member of SSS and a DEM task-enforcer.

But isn't she one of the main antagonists of the events of Date A Strike? Her appearance here makes no sense.

"You... you are a wizard." I say, acting like I do not know her.

"I am Minerva Riddell of the SSS." She introduces herself proudly. Not like I needed it. "You are the Spirit that started this fire, aren't you?" Ah, she thinks I started this fire. I'll play along.

"So what if I am?"

A savage smile grows on her face. "Then I'll capture you! Or kill you, it doesn't matter! You will be my key to surpassing Artemisia!"

Well, at least her desires seem to remain the same. Foolish woman. You don't know who you're actually dealing with.

She charges at me with her weapon raised, but I effortlessly evade her attacks. "Hold still and accept your capture, Spirit!" She shouts at me.

"Sorry, but I'll have to pass." I kindly decline. "I still have other things to do."

"Your wishes are irrelevant!" She shouts, before suddenly vanishing in a show of speed. Quite fast, but I can sense that your are behind me.

A Territory suddenly forms around me in an attempt to slow me down, but I still manage to avoid enough it, even though it managed to nick my side.

"My, that was close." I say, briefly inspecting my side, even though I knew it was nowhere near enough to damage my Astral Dress. At best, it took off a bit of my mosaic disguise, but it's easily patched.

Still, as fun as this was, I must dispatch her before Origami arrives.

"Oh, now this is interesting."

I hear Minerva speak behind me and turn to face her...and I freeze when I see her looking at a white crystal in her left hand.

That can't be...! How did she manage to get Metatron's crystal!?

"I can feel a lot of spirit power coming from this crystal." She hums, before looking at me with a smirk. "You must've been using this to create new Spirits, weren't you. So if I absorb this, I would gain their powers?"

Absorb Metatron...? She can't do that! That's supposed to be for Origami! I have to stop her before-

"Minerva, what's the situation? And what's that in your hand?" I hear another voice and see a squadron of AST Wizards fly up to her. Why are people appearing when they aren't supposed to!?

"Look closely, Captain Hanakai." Minerva shows them the Sephira Crystal. "This here is what creates the Spirits. It is what gives them their power."

A woman with cyan hair and a equally mature body, who is probably Captain Hanakai, looks at the crystal with surprise. "This crystal is what creates the Spirits? In that case, we must take it back to HQ, so they can lock it somewhere safe." I have very conflicting messages about that. On one hand, it means Minerva doesn't absorb it and I can reclaim it. On the other hand, it means the crystal is closer to Wescott's reach, which I would rather avoid.

Minerva, however, laughs at the suggestion. "Lock it away!? Why would I want to lock away a surefire way to gain a power that could surpass Mathers!?" What is this!? Is she usually this power hungry!? At this rate, she's gonna absorb the crystal!

Captain Hanakai looks as panicked as I am, but for a different reason. "Minerva, please reconsider! If you use that crystal, your basically throwing away your humanity! Please, think this through for a moment!"

Minerva silently stares at the Sephira Crystal in response to Hanakai's plea. Is she actually thinking about it?

"Alright. I've thought about it." So, she's actually gonna- "If it means gaining more power to kill Artemisia..." She clutches the crystal and brings it to her chest. "THEN I REJECT MY HUMANITY!"

The Sephira Crystal shines before disappearing into her body. No...! She has bonded with Metatron!

Her body twitches after the absorption, and she releases a ear-piercing scream as her body becomes enveloped in a blinding white light.

Yoshino's POV

I arrive to the part of Tengu where the fire is taking place. With my current position, I should be far enough away that I won't be actively involved in anything, but close enough that I could se everything happened with my Reiryoku-enhanced eyesight.

I see Shido Itsuka collapsed on the ground, with Kotori Itsuka, now the Flame Spirit, standing nude in front of him. Looks like he just sealed her, even if he didn't mean to.

In another part of the area, I see a young Origami, with her parents running up to her. What was supposed to be a touching sight was actually quite saddening.

"Yoshinon feels sorry for that girl, knowing it'll be the last time she sees her parents." I do too, Yoshinon. I really wish I could do something...

Suddenly, I catch sight of a blinding white light a fair distance away. Looking towards it, I was surprised to see that a squadron of AST Wizards were also present at the scene, even though I know the AST weren't.

But then the light faded to reveal a figure. A figure wearing an Astral Dress resembling a wedding dress, complete with a golden grown decorated with a white veil, along with a white bow and gem attached to the neck. Additionally, there are gold extensions attached to both the hips and forearms. the edges of the skirt fold together like flower petals, while the tips of the skirt are also gold in color. At this distance, the figure looked like an angel, and I could see a distinct, glistening ring present on the fourth finger of the new Spirit's left hand.

But it was who the Spirit was that shocked me. Instead of a young female with fair skin and short, silvery-white hair, she was a mature woman with blonde hair and tanned skin.

"What's Minerva doing here!?"

"You know that chick?" Yoshinon asks.

"Minerva Riddell is one of the antagonists of Date A Strike, a side story that happens during canon. What's she doing here? And more importantly, how did she get Metatron!?"

I don't expect an answer to my question, but I doubt I was gonna get one anyway as Minerva suddenly summons Metatron and starts firing a rain of energy blasts at the ground everywhere.

"Yikes! If she keeps this up, she'll kill more than just Origami's parents!" I grit my teeth as I knew Yoshinon was right. At this rate, Minerva might kill Origami herself, or worse, she'll kill Shido!

"Yoshinon... we may have to intervene after all."

Mio's POV

How could I have been so careless?

I let myself become overconfident simply because I knew about the future, and yet I fumbled the moment something happens that doesn't follow the canon events. And now, Metatron has been stolen - bonded with someone that shouldn't have it.

Minerva looks herself and clenches her fists. "Yes. I can feel it. The power of a Spirit." She says, basking in her stolen power. "Metatron!" Golden light shines above, and a set of golden, feather-like cannon descend and surround her. "So, this is my Angel, huh?" She looks at Metatron with a smirk. "Let's see what you can do! Shemesh!" The floating cannons start spinning around her, gathering light particles, and at her command, she releases them as a rain of energy blasts at the ground below.

No...! At this rate, Shin will die, and it'll be my fault!

"Minerva, stop! At this rate, you'll kill innocent civilians!" Captain Hanakai tries to plead with Minerva, but she laughs maniacally.

"Why should I care about the cries of those with no power!?" She's truly lost it.

Captain Hanakai also sees this and grits her teeth. "As I thought, becoming a Spirit has made you lose your humanity. Thus, it is our duty as the AST to stop you!"

Minerva laughs once again at the declaration. "That's rich! Do you know how many Spirits the AST have killed? Zero! You're all too weak and useless to kill a Spirit, and you're too weak to stop me!" She looks down at the ground and smirks. "And I'll show you what your weakness costs you."

She turns and calls Metatron's cannons to take a circular formation with the tips all facing in one direction, light gathering at the center. I look down to where she was aiming and... She's going for Origami and her parents!

They are running to escape the area, but Origami suddenly trips. No! She's gonna get killed!

"Minerva, STOP!"

"Too late! Metatron, Artelif!"

Artelif fires, and Origami looks up in terror as her parent cry out for her. I have no choice. Even if it means revealing myself, I have to save Origami!

Before I could however, I see another person move in front of her and summon a large wall of ice to not only block the light, but reflect it back into the sky.

"What the fuck!?" Minerva cries in outrage, seeing her attack was stopped.

The moment Artelif stops, the wall dissipates, revealing exactly who I thought it was that saved Origami.

"Captain, that's..." A random AST Wizard says.

"[Hermit]." The Captain identifies.

I sigh in relief. Just in time, Yoshino.

Origami's POV

I was happy to see Mom and Dad. I thought they were gone from the fire.

However, my happiness was quickly replaced by fear as beams of light rain down around us.

"What's happening!? Why's the sky attacking us!?" I scream.

"This is too dangerous! We need to get out of here!" Daddy says.

"Origami, please follow us!" Mommy says.

I follow Mom and Dad as they run, but then I suddenly trip and fall to the ground.

"Origami!" Mom cries out to me.

I try to stand, but I am only able to sit up when I feel a pain in my knee and flinch. I must've scratched it when I tripped. I turn my head and look up, and to my horror, I see a massive beam of pure shining light heading right for me.

"ORIGAMI!" I hear my parents scream for me. At least I got to hear my parents one last time.

But then suddenly, I see someone my age land in front of me. Raising their right hand, they summons a wall of ice that reflects the blast back into the sky.

I was shocked. This person, whoever they were, just saved my life. Looking at them closely, they wore a cute rabbit-themed raincoat and had a rabbit puppet on their left hand.

"Origami!" I turn to see my parents run up to me, clearly worried about me. "Origami, are you alright!?" My mom asks.

"I scratched my knee when I tripped." I admit. "But I'm alright. This person saved me."

I turn to look at my savior, and I see them raise their right hand into the sky. Looking up, I see black clouds forming and rain starts to fall.

"She summoned rain to put out the fire." Mom's right. The fire is going away.

"Is she a Spirit?" Spirit? Like the ghosts of dead people? She doesn't look dead to me.

"Go." I hear my savior say. "Take your daughter and run. I'll cover your escape." I stare at her in amazement. She's as young as me, but she's so brave.

"She's right. We have to get out of here." Dad says.

"Right." I feel my Mom pick me up. "Thank you for saving our daughter." She thanks my savior before running away with Dad while holding me.

I look back at my savior one last time. Please be safe, Miss Spirit.

Well, this is a bigger change than either of them expected! Good thing Yoshino stepped in before things got worse.

Next chapter is gonna be Yoshino fighting Minerva, who has stolen Metatron! See you guys then!
