Chapter 1

Wanted to write this before season 2 of Arcane comes out. Just a version of what I think would happen with Vi after the events of season 1. It will be nothing close to what Arcane is coming up with, but that's kind of the point.

I originally was going to make this a short 1- or 2-chapter story, but as I have begun writing it, more ideas have formed, and it might be a long one. I will push out the chapters as quickly as possible. Hope you enjoy.

Also making is rated M due to possible Language, Violence, and romance. Have not decided which ending I will choose, happy or sad, but have a few in mind.

Vi laid awake as the familiar sounds of screams filled the streets merely feet away. It had been weeks since Jinx had sent a rocket through the capital building window killing most of Piltovers council members, throwing the undercity and Piltover into complete chaos.

Enforcers found themselves lining the streets of the undercity on a now daily basis. Searching for all connecting to Silco, and the life destroying drug shimmer. They stopped at nothing to get what they wanted, including targeting the innocent. Victims fleeing their homes with nowhere to go.

If the innocent found themselves lucky enough to avoid the enforcers, they were met with an even more dangerous force of undercity gangs. Each looking to become the next ruler of the undercity. Threatening all they encountered to swear their allegiance or die.

Vi found herself caught between two worlds. Not feeling like she belonged to either anymore. She once thought she would die to defend the undercity, but now they seek her out to end her. Rumor running through the streets that Vi had teamed up with the enforcers, killed Silco, and is now looking to take the undercity for herself. Forcing Vi to either make a deal with Caitlyn and become an enforcer or remain in hiding until a new plan presented itself.

Vi was angry, frustrated, and exhausted. She had been hiding between the two worlds for weeks now. Finding only mere moments of quiet to go in search of food and water. Knowing the grave consequences if she were caught meant days would often pass with her going hungry. With nothing but her thoughts, she fell deeper into oblivion.

It had been weeks since she last saw Caitlyn. She could still remember her falling to the ground as she saw the remains of her deceased mother among the rubble. Vi doing all she could to comfort her while feeling large amounts of guilt pile on as she saw the damage jinx had inflicted. If only she allowed Caitlyn to shoot her, or if she would have tried harder to get through to her. But she had to accept the consequences. There was no going back from this. She had stayed with Cailyn a few days after the event. Constantly aware that her presence was a huge reminder that her crazy murdering sister was still at large.

Vi lye while going over the last conversation she had with Caitlyn.

"Vi, the remaining council members are here to help us. They want to elect a new sheriff and Jayce thinks I would be a good fit. I really think we would make a good team, you and me. If I'm made sheriff, then I can make you an enforcer and we can make real change".

"And if you don't? they would never except me here. I see how they all look at me when we're out. All turning their noses up at me, like I'm some dark scourge that oozed its way up from the undercity". I'm nothing but the sister of the destroyer, and they will never see me as nothing more".

"That's not true, people are just scared right now that is all".

"Can you guarantee me that, that when this is all over, they will accept me".

Caitlyn now froze knowing she could never guarantee that. "If you become an enforcer, they would have to accept you".

"So, I have no choice"?

"Well at least you would be safer, and we could work together to protect the people".

"Ya protect your people, not mine. That's all you care about. Your remaining council are only now willing to remove shimmer because it poses a threat to top siders. My people have been suffering for years. From more than just shimmer and Silco". Vi began shouting, losing all sense and control of her emotions. "We have been starving, freezing, dying from the contaminated air we are forced to breathe. While you people sit top side worried about having to wait too long in lines for your overpriced coffees. I can't become the very thing I've despised my entire life. The thing that killed my parents". Vi felt awful saying these to Caitlyn, especially while she was still grieving. But the idea of her becoming an enforcer was too much to handle. Vi stopped yelling, not wanting to inflict anymore pain on Caitlyn. "I don't belong here". She said with a much more calming tone.

Caitlyn now with tears running down her face went to reach out and grab Vi, only for her to pull away before Caitlyn could reach her. "You said you would never leave me again, please Vi, please don't do this to me, not again, not now, I need you".

Vi turned away quickly to avoid looking at the disappointment on Caitlyn's face, and set out for where she did not know, she just knew she couldn't stay there any longer.

Vi had made her way to the undercity before most of the chaos had broken out. She constantly had to watch her back, as the rumors about her became more rampant. She thought about turning to Ekko for help, but knew she would be putting him at risk, and couldn't do that to him. She thankfully found an old friend of Vanders that promised her a safe hiding place just out of the main city in a small shack hidden behind loads of rubble and trash. He told her he would come by when he could, but for his own safety probably wouldn't be often. Vi understood and was just grateful for a safe place to close her eyes. Vi didn't know this man well, but knew Vander had at one point saved his life. She remembers something about the war between pitlover, and Vander basically taking a bullet for this guy. Vander told Vi that if she were ever in a tight spot that there were a few people he trusted to help her out, and this guy was one of them.

Vi had many hours to think, to drive herself mad with visions of what was, and what could be. She began thinking often about Powder, or Jinx, or whatever she wanted to be called. To one of the last thing Jinx said to her "Silco didn't make Jinx you did". If this were true, then everything really was her fault. But if I created Jinx, then who created me, she thought? Every event that leads to that night was because of Silco, or was it, thought Vi? We only went topside to steal, for money, to feed ourselves. I only turned myself in, because the enforcers were threatening Vander. Vander was only Kidnapped by Silco, because the Enforces turned on him. Silco only created shimmer to create an army to defeat Piltover. Vi continued allowing her thoughts to run down a very dangerous rabbit hole. Silco only created shimmer to defeat top side. To put an end to their tyranny, and oppression. Silco turned on Vander because he would rather be controlled by the top side than to make human sacrifices for what Silco considers the greater good. Could Silco be right. Did we need drastic sacrifices to be made, to make better lives for us. The top siders never cared about that, that was made very clear when Vi and Caitlyn presented their case to them. They didn't seem to care at all that Silco was running a drug operation in the undercity, killing off many of its people, while dooming the others to a fate worse than death. They only cared about the bombs made by Jinx, because Jinx brought them to the top side, and hurt their people. Even when Jayce made the deal with Silco, all he wanted was Jinx.

Vi found herself sitting up, scared and confused. Could she really be siding with Silco and Jinx? Was she even sad that Jinx killed off all those council members? I mean sure she was sad for Caitlyn for losing her mother, but for the rest.

The more Vi thought, the more she found herself understanding where Jinx and Silco were coming from. Although she could never hurt innocent lives for a cause, she could now understand their cause on a higher level. You have to cut the snake off at the head to kill the body. A phrase she often heard. Maybe that was Silcos plan all along. Take away the council members, and you no longer have them controlling the undercity. It's genius Vi thought. Just then a soft knock was heard on the door behind her, throwing Vi up into a fighting stance.

"Miss Vi" came a small whisper. Vi stepped forward slowly opening the door. The small man that was helping her stood out in the darkness. "I have a letter for you, and a small bit of food".

A letter, Vi thought, but nobody should know I'm here.

"Who gave you a letter? Who knows I'm here". Vi said in a stern voice.

"No one ma'am, it's just a young man has been passing it through all the proper channels, trying to reach you. It finally made its way to me."

A young man thought Vi. "What does this young man look like"?

"Not sure Miss Vi, I think he has white hair, and carries a weird looking bored with him".

"Ekko", Vi threw the door open grabbing the letter and piece of bread.

"Yes, he is hoping for a quick response, but I need to get off the streets before the enforcers show up, here's a pencil and piece of paper, ill return tomorrow to collect your letter if that's alright"?

"Yes, yes thank you, for everything".

The small man nodded and left quickly, keeping to the shadows to remain unseen.

Vi nestled in the corner of the shack where the roof was missing, allowing small bits of moon light to cast over the letter. She began eating her bread, taking it in small bites to savor the soft, substance gliding over her taste buds, before sliding into her center. Vi hadn't eatin in a while, and wasn't sure when she would get another chance. She knew it was best to try take her time to enjoy what she had. She then began to open the letter.

Dear Vi,

I hope this letter finds you well, or at least alive. It's taken me a long time to find someone that may know your location, although they refused to give me any clues as to your whereabouts, so I'm handing this letter off in good faith. Hoping it finds you, and not some under city scum.

I know things are getting bad out there for you, but there is some good news. Caitlyn was finally appointed Sheriff. As her 1st act she has declared she will stop the random raids on the innocent people of the undercity, while retraining her officers on how better to conduct themselves in the field. She has already taken down 2 gangs here, and is looking for ways to provide our people with more resources.

I know it might not feel like a lot, but she is trying, which is more than any other top sider has done before.

She told me what happened between you two. She is hurt and angry, but also very concerned, just as I am. We are very worried about you Vi.

I know Jinx is still out there, and I know it ways heavy on you. Caitlyn thinks we can all work together and eventually bring her in alive.

Please I know you need help. Come work with us, together we can bring this city justice.

I will be in the alley where Clagger tripped over the trash can splitting open his lip when we were kids, on the 3rd day of this week, at dusk.

Please, if anything just meet me so I know your still alive. I'll bring you some supplies.

Your friend E

Vi took her time re reading the letter a few more times. Unsure how she felt about it. She had no intention of fighting for the undercity, or bringing Jinx in. Vi knew more than most what the justice of stillwater meant. Daily beatings by prison guards, followed by being thrown on to a dark cold floor, hoping death would eventually find mercy on you while you lay in a pool of your own blood.

This thought sent chills down her spine as she admired the many scars as a form of survival trophies that ran across her body.

She couldn't allow this for Jinx. As horrible a person Jinx might have been, this could not be her fate.

Vi closed her eyes remembering the night her parents left for the last time. Her and powder lay side by side in there small bed. There mother and father sitting next to them.

"We won't be gone long". Said their father.

"We are just going to the bridge to peacefully protest, in hopes for better conditions for us all". He then leaned foreword kissing then both on the forehead.

"We love you both, we will be home before you wake up". Said their mother while smiling at them both. She reached over hugging and kissing powder. She then leaned in to hug Vi while whispering in her ear. "If anything should happen to your father and I, please protect powder. Keep her close, and watch over each other". She then leaned back kissed Vi on the cheek, and then tucked then both in.

Vi felt herself growing angry at this memory, knowing she let her parents down. Tears began to fall from her cheeks now thinking about her last words with Vander.

"Take care of powder".

Vi now even more angry knowing she let down everyone around her. She began punching the walls, kicking anything close to her, before falling to her knees screaming in anger.

She sat there allowing all her emotions to surface, before standing, pushing them all back down quickly.

"I'm going to save powder"

She grabbed the pencil and paper preparing a response to Ekko, while devising a plan to save her sister.
