Toxinelle punched the rock wall, bam, bam, bam! Each punch was like a punch straight to her heart, for Adrien had left without a word. She wasn't angry at him, for this is what they agreed on. So why did it hurt her so much!
Her fist was growing numb each time it connected with the wall, and finally Toxinelle slid the down the wall, letting the tears pool in her eyes. Hugging her knees to her chest, she cried. At least she still had her love's letter, but she dare not hold it now, for it would only get smeared and soggy.
Finally, she knew it was time to put on the invisible mask and get on with life. She felt a better as she stirred up the fire, waiting for the coffee to boil, pulling her red cloak close.
She ladled her hot drink into her mug, but as she raised it to her lips, a figure walked out of the shadows. Toxinelle leaped to her feet, yo-yo instantly drawn, whirling, keeping a barrier between herself and the Supreme.
"Where's that partner of yours?" he asked, his voice smooth. "I'm not telling you anything," she spat back, voice steely. The Supreme appeared bored at her answer. "Or he's come to his senses and knows what's good for him. I did promise I would only spare one of you." "Just because we're not together, doesn't mean we're not working as a team." "Your beautiful and talented, yes, but Adrien could have his choice at any girl." A jagged claw cuts at my heart. "Adrien's my soulmate. He wouldn't do that to me. What is it you want anyway?"
"I came with a message for Adrien, but seeing he's not here, I'll be on my way. Oh, there is one last thing….."
I cry out in sudden pain, but the pain is invisible as the Supreme stands over me, holding a ring. Feebly, I once again reach for my yo-yo, whirling it and deflecting the oncoming pain.
Sweat breaks out on my forehead, as the pain is less, but it has slightly deadened my senses. "What are you doing to me?!" "Draining you of your hidden powers, your cleverness, your beauty. I could simply take your Miraculous back, but this is far more effective."
I see my coffee cup close by, and now that isn't scalding hot, I slowly reach for it, whirling my yo-yo one-handed and with a twitch, I toss it up into my opponents eyes. He roars in anger, but he drops his hands, and the pain vanishes.
"I should have taken your Miraculous back and battled you back when I had the chance! You'll be sorry, Marinette!"
Just then, I cry out in pain as a cracking sound deep in my cheeks and neck, and the spider-like veins are now clearly visible. There's nothing I can do, expect endure the pain, the darkness covering me like a warm blanket…..
When I come to, the Supreme is gone, and Tikki is curled up on my cheek. I long for fresh air, the surface, wondering what injuries the Supreme has caused.
I breathe a silent thank you as though my legs are wobbly, I can walk, slowly at first, then grow stronger.
Tikki darts ahead of me, as if she's explored while I was asleep, and I let her lead the way. I begin to run forward, when I see the first glint of daylight, and burst into the snow covered trees.
What an impressive sight as the trees are covered in white snow, while the fading red sunlight peeks between the branches, playing peek-a-boo.
Swinging up into the tree, I watch the setting sun until my teeth start to chatter. Before I go back in though, I want to fill my canteen with water and I trudge down the small path to the stream and gasp in shock.
My face is now marred with spider-like veins, and though I had them before, they stand out like a beacon. I know Adrien loves me as I am, but a seed of doubt starts to creep into my mind. I must squash it before it takes root.
Adrien trudged wearily on the sidewalk, no longer seeing the stares. Eventually, he came to a salon and boutique, and walked inside.
"Darling!" a woman with pink hair and ultra-white teeth comes up. "What can I do for you today?" "I need a whole new wardrobe, and a new look." "Your not a spy, no?" "Not a spy," I tell her honestly. "But I want to be invisible." She claps her hands. "Ah, I can make that work! Orion, Percies, where are you?"
"Right here, Cassiopeia!" I cover my mouth to hide a laugh as two men come scurrying forward, one with a marshmallow stuck to his upper lip. "This boy wants to become invisible, as stealthy as that handsome Kitty Claw Noir!" Aw, she knows me as Claw? Cute!
"Right this way…." Orion gestures to me, "Adrien."
I am buffed and polished and when I emerge from the salon, I feel like a roasted and plucked chicken. Thinking I'll sneak into the dome before finding a hiding spot for the night, I head down into the sewers.
"You wouldn't dare hurt my son!" I freeze and peek around the corner, where my father and The Supreme are having a stand-off. "Might I remind you Gabriel, you did so much worse to Emile, having a child with a poisoned Miraculous? You hand over the Miraculous or your son's life could be in grave danger!"
Is that how my mother died, from a poisoned Miraculous? Is this all my fault…?
"Your just bluffing," My father says, eyes blazing with determination. "I will give you three days, Gabriel," the Supreme says. "Don't test my patience, and remember I have many tricks up my sleeves."
The Supreme opens a portal and steps through, vanishing to the other side. I longed to be invisible, but I need to step into the light, but maybe this new look could work to my advantage. Oh, if only Marinette was by my side….
