In the chaos of election night's victorious intoxication, Harvey had thrown himself to Donna, hoping to momentarily forget the deep abyss he had been falling into for years.
Harvey walked the wide corridors of the hotel in a state of mind overflowing with the pride of victory night. Outside, thousands of people were shouting his name and celebrating his victory. Years of hard work, countless sacrifices, and finally that expected moment... As all of this blended together in Harvey's mind, for a moment he sought the peace of escaping from this chaos and just being with Donna. Every moment he spent with her was a paradise away from the world, outside of time and reality. But this paradise was also the centre of his sins and Harvey was afraid of paying the price for this paradise.
The softness of Donna's expression calmed all the storms inside Harvey for a moment. She was everything to him, his only refuge in this dark world. As Donna's eyes gave Harvey a deep peace, he took refuge in her arms.
As Harvey's footsteps echoed through the long, wide corridors of the hotel, the weight of the world he had left behind was lifted from his shoulders. The splendour of the night of victory was left behind like an illusion. This moment was not a victory that everyone was celebrating; it was the realisation of his deepest, most secret desires. Donna, walking beside him, was like a shining star in the darkness of the night. She was the guide to Harvey's lost soul.
Under the dim lights of the corridor, Harvey's heart beat faster than ever. With every step Donna took, he felt the warmth of her presence. His eyes roamed over her curves, his thoughts drifting away as he watched her graceful movements. Tonight was where it had all begun, and he wanted nothing more than to live in this moment, despite everything, beyond every prohibition and sin.
Harvey lightly grasped Donna's slender wrist, trying to restrain the passion within him as his fingers slid over her smooth skin. Donna paused for a moment, turning her eyes to Harvey. There were a hundred hidden words in that look, each one reflecting the destructive yet irresistible nature of this relationship. Harvey's breath quickened in rhythm with hers as he approached Donna's lips. In the silence of the corridor, time seemed to stand still as their breaths mingled.
Donna leaned into Harvey's face, both of them trembling as her breath touched his skin. When their lips lightly touched, the earth shook. Everything inside Harvey melted at the contact, his desires and fears mingling together. As Donna's lips slid slowly across Harvey's, they were completely caught up in the magic of the moment. The kiss was a physical manifestation of the deep bond between them; forbidden, dangerous and yet indispensable.
"I came for you." Donna whispered as she hugged Harvey's neck.
His voice was an invitation, an oath. Those words fuelled Harvey's fire even more. When his body touched her skin, it was as if the world stopped. There was only Donna's presence, her warmth, her touch. As if to make the moment eternal, Harvey pulled Donna closer, his hands roaming her body, eager to explore every curve, every warmth.
In the dimness of the corridor, Harvey's hands wrapped around Donna's waist, feeling every tremor of her skin, every intake of breath. Donna's body was completely surrendered to Harvey's desires; at that moment, there were only the two of them in the world. Their touch was like a sensual dance echoing off the cold stones of the corridor. Every breath, every contact, intensified the passion between them. As Harvey's hands roamed over Donna's back, his fingers travelled downwards, stripping her dress, slipping into her panties, Donna moaned softly as his fingers brushed against her smooth skin.
Donna took Harvey's hand and pulled him towards the door of the room. Now leaning against Harvey's hotel door, they continued to kiss. With each step, the attraction between them grew stronger; the flames of desire within Harvey flared brighter as Donna pulled him closer. When they opened the door, the darkness of the room embraced them. Harvey pulled Donna into the room; the way he looked at her as he closed the door behind him reflected the depth of passion between them. The sparkle in her eyes awakened every desire in Harvey.
Harvey suddenly pulled Donna to him, pressing his body against her, his lips roaming over her skin. Donna wrapped her arms around Harvey's neck, pulling him closer, intoxicated by the magic of the moment. Harvey's hands roamed freely over Donna's body, his lips sliding over her neck, her shoulders, her every curve, eager to explore every inch of her body. Donna shivered at these touches; each kiss from Harvey was a melody that echoed through her body.
"I want you.." Harvey whispered, leaning close to Donna's ear.
Those words broke down every barrier in Donna. In that moment, they both knew that nothing else mattered but this moment. Harvey wrapped his arms around Donna's waist, guiding her towards the bathroom as Donna's breathing quickened. Harvey disappeared into Donna's arms, one with her touch, her warmth, her breath.
Their silhouettes blended together under the lights of the room.
As Donna melted in Harvey's arms, she whispered into his neck.
"You won. You did it. You're president now." With those words, Harvey lost all control of himself.
Their union echoed around the room, their breath, their heartbeats, their hands touching each other. They all wanted this moment to be eternal.
This forbidden love between them, despite all its dangers, was the paradise they both craved. As Harvey moved closer and closer to Donna's body, they both wished this moment would last forever. But somewhere in the back of their minds, they knew that this moment could end at any moment, that reality would relentlessly knock on their door.
But at that moment, the whole world stopped for Harvey and Donna. Their passion for each other enveloped the entire reality of that moment and carried it to a dimension where nothing else mattered. As Harvey placed one last kiss on Donna's lips, he closed his eyes and disappeared into the eternity of this moment.
The touch of her lips was like a spark, a spark that turned into a fire that engulfed Harvey's entire body. Donna's lips clung greedily to Harvey's; the kiss was not only one of desire, but of defiance, of rebellion. The taste of forbidden fruit paralysed all Harvey's senses in that kiss. As Donna surrendered to him, Harvey leaned down to her neck, his lips on her skin, quickening her breathing.
As they moved slowly towards the bathroom door, each movement was part of a deliberate ritual. Donna leaned lightly against Harvey's chest, feeling his heartbeat. It was a reflection of the storms raging inside Harvey; with each beat, his desire for Donna grew, with each breath he inhaled her scent, with each glance he was lost in the depth of her eyes.
"Don't you dare have a heart attack." Donna said and smiled.
As they entered the bathroom, Harvey's hands roamed impatiently over Donna's back. The cold marble of the room beneath their feet made them wince for a moment. But the cold was too weak to extinguish the fire inside them. As his fingertips slid over her skin, the warmth radiating from Donna's body quickened the blood in Harvey's veins. He gazed into Donna's eyes; there was a depth, a passion in those eyes, as if the whole world stood still. Harvey placed a hungry kiss on Donna's lips, a kiss that was the key that unlocked the door to a world that belonged only to the two of them, a world that separated them from the weight of the world they had left behind.
In the mirror over the sink, Harvey and Donna's desire for each other was reflected; it was more than just a physical attraction, it was a moment when their souls merged. As Harvey leaned Donna gently against the edge of the sink, his hands were careful as they travelled over her skin, as if he were creating a painting in the finest detail. Harvey's lips moved down Donna's neck, exploring her skin, the touch foreshadowing a fire that enveloped her entire body.
Harvey was focussed on her as if the whole world had vanished. As he kissed her, he felt the stress of the elections and the presidential race slipping away.
Harvey's body leaned over her as the cool marble of the sink supported Donna's back. Donna's breathing deepened as his lips slid from Donna's neck to her shoulders and then to her breasts. As Harvey's hands moved inside Donna's pussy, Donna's desire was fuelled, each touch, each kiss, taking her deeper. Donna's hands gripped Harvey's back, squeezing him as if to pull him closer to her.
With his hands around Donna's waist, Harvey lifted her over the sink. As Donna's legs wrapped around Harvey's waist, their lips met once more; this time their kiss was deeper, more sensual. On Harvey's lips, Donna could feel the desire in him. It was a kiss that made her feel not only their bodies mingling, but also their souls. As Harvey placed Donna over the sink, her body alternated between the coldness of the sink and the warmth of Harvey. As Harvey's cock slid into Donna's wet cunt, the moans that were emitted began to sound like a pleasant melody.
Donna pulled back for a moment, a wicked smile on her face.
"See, you've won, Mr President," Donna said in a mocking tone.
Harvey laughed lightly. "It's only just beginning." he said, and pulled Donna to him.
However, a sound that paused for a moment amidst the euphoria, wounded the depth of the moment to some extent. Something placed on the edge of the counter suddenly fell to the floor and rolled on the cool tiles. A small crash broke the dense atmosphere for a few seconds. But Harvey and Donna, almost oblivious to the tiny jolt, continued their passionate entanglement.
Only for a moment did the falling object shine in a remarkable beam of light. It lay curled up on the floor, silent, with secrets inside it. It was a small white pregnancy test that belonged to Paula. Two clear lines appeared on the test, heralding one of life's greatest miracles. As the little stick slid into the dark corners of the bathroom, all that remained of Harvey and Donna's daring kiss was a silence of mystery and lost truths.
The pregnancy test haunted the bathroom like a ghost, a curse that haunted the two lovers who knew nothing of its existence.
One day the truth would come out, but until then, this night would remain in the darkness of the fire and mystery between them. The pregnancy test, as a silent witness to this passionate moment, was the bearer of a great secret. This night would remain hidden in the shadow of the passions of two people, hidden in the depths of reality.
Suddenly, with the creaking of the door, there was a sharp sound that fell like a blow into the silence of the night. As the door opened, the light pouring in felt like a storm, illuminating the dark corners of the room. Harvey's heart leapt with a momentary fear of death.
He tried to take a deep breath, but his lungs, struggling to draw in air, felt as if they would suffocate at any moment. His eyes stared into a void, empty, fixed and full of fear, like a deep well in the middle of uncertainty.
The figure looming in the doorway looked like the realisation of the most frightening dream of Harvey's life. Otis. His father-in-law.
The first pulses of fear coursed through his body like electric currents, sending a shiver through every vein.
As his emotions crashed into his chest, Harvey felt as if all his senses were lost in a blur. The trembling in his body was no longer just an expression of fear, but a physical manifestation of his guilt and shame. Every beat of his heart, together with a deep sense of guilt, was like a wave of intense panic, as if each beat was adding to the pain and anxiety of being judged as a criminal.
Otis appeared like a ghost in the darkness, with an expression of deep anger and frustration on his old face.
Otis's every step echoed off the wooden floor of the room, creating an intense uneasiness. His eyes were not a glare, but a blaze, as if burning in the centre of a sea of fire. The old man was shaken with anger and frustration, every muscle tense and his body language signalling real devastation.
His eyes struggled to avoid his father-in-law's gaze, his body as heavy as a stone. Everything seemed to have changed in an instant, and the full weight of the biggest mistake of his life seemed to have fallen on his shoulders. Otis's every move was like a blow that shattered all of Harvey's defences.
In the depth of that moment, as Harvey faced the consequences of his entire life and decisions, he realised that there was no escape or solution, not even for a moment. Otis' presence was there, not only as an observer but also as a judge, the embodiment of all his fears and guilt. This brutal reality forced Harvey to confront the deepest darkness within himself; everything was helplessly trapped under the weight of this devastating moment, like a criminal looking for a way out.
The hotel room Harvey and Donna were in seemed as if it had left the night and all the silence aside and was on the brink of disaster.
Otis's gaze bored into Harvey like a mark in every corner of the room. The deep anger and disappointment in those eyes was all around Harvey like an enclosed space surrounding his soul. The hardness in his eyes pierced through him like a sword, destroying all of Harvey's defences with every glance.
When Harvey met Otis' angry gaze, the world stopped for a moment, this time because of fear. As if the flow of time had stopped, everything was frozen in place. At that moment, this place he was in turned into an underground labyrinth, like a victim who found himself in a great disaster, looking for a way out as soon as possible. Otis made all his fears and anxieties even more pronounced, filling every moment with a state of danger and escape.
This intense burden of fear and guilt made Harvey feel as if he was trapped in a well. With every step, with every glance, it was as if he was being drawn into a deep pit, sinking deeper and deeper into this pit of guilt and despair. Everything was enveloped in a state of desperation, wanting this catastrophe and this moment of panic to end as soon as possible. The panic inside Harvey was turning into a tension that grew like an avalanche, becoming a weight that made every moment more and more difficult.
Otis was watching Harvey's every move, every breath, like a prey. Harvey found himself a prey in this moment, feeling more and more cornered with every movement, every glance. This heavy burden of fear and guilt pushed Harvey beyond all his emotional and physical limits, making him feel as if he was drawn into a life and death battle.
When Otis recognised the two silhouettes in the darkness, he felt something rupture somewhere inside him. His heart stopped for a moment, then began to beat in his chest like a war drum. The sound echoed through his veins, deepening the pain and anger with each beat.
He was filled with the despair of a father who did not want to convince himself of this harsh reality. The scene unfolding before his eyes was like a nightmare for him. At that moment, perhaps for the first time in his life, he was witnessing such a great betrayal. Suddenly, he felt a deep pain in his chest, not only physical, but also a manifestation of a grief that penetrated to the deepest corners of his soul. The sight before his eyes had shattered all his hopes, expectations and dreams. This room had now become a burial chamber for him, a grave in which everything that had filled him with love had died and only anger and disappointment reigned.
As his heartbeat quickened, his breathing became more ragged and laboured. For a moment his head spun, the world in his eyes blurred. The anger inside him was ready to erupt like a volcano; all the feelings he had tried to suppress with years of experience were now unleashed like wild animals unchained from their chains. For years he had learnt to control himself, to suppress his anger, but at that moment he felt that it was impossible to prevent these feelings. Frustration swept through his whole body like a flame, anger flowing from his eyes instead of tears.
As the words tumbled from his lips, each one landed like a whip blow on Donna and Harvey.
"How could you do this?!" he screamed.
His voice was full of pent-up anger; each word was like a cry from the depths of his heart. It was the cry of a man, not only as a father, but also as a man who had seen everything he had believed in and trusted his whole life shattered to pieces. His eyes were locked on Harvey, and in them were traces of his deep hatred for a man whom he saw not only as a son-in-law but also as a traitor.
Disappointment pained him like a scream echoing deep in his heart.
"I trusted you..." he whispered, his voice this time full of pain rather than anger.
Tears welled up in his eyes, but they never flowed; they were trapped deep inside, where anger and grief were trapped together.
He was now lost in deep grief, not only as a father, but also as a human being. The anger rising inside him was only one side of this grief; the real pain stemmed from the fact that the man to whom he had entrusted his daughter, to whom he had given years of his life, had violated his deepest trust. The last spark that had shone in his eyes sparkled once more and then completely extinguished. For a moment, everything inside his fell into emptiness; he felt as if he had reached the edge of a cliff, as if he had entered an irreversible path.
With every beat of his heart, along with a deep disappointment, he felt his respect for Harvey slowly melting away. This respect was now overshadowed by a lie, a shadow of reality that darkened everything and extinguished all light. The weight of this heaviness had taken over his whole soul, and he turned her eyes with a look filled with the last shreds of love for Harvey. But that love was now only a dream, like an oasis lost in the middle of a desert.
He spoke one last time, this time his voice was tired, exhausted and sorrowful. "I sacrificed everything for you..." he murmured. These words were addressed not only to Harvey, but also to a deep emptiness within himself.
Deep down, Otis felt that everything was over, that he had come to the end of an irreversible path. All that was left now was a wreck, lost in an endless darkness, overshadowed by disappointment and heartache.
Harvey froze for a moment. His mind struggled to comprehend what had happened. There was no escape or denial possible. He swallowed, not knowing what to say.
"This... this is not what it seems," he said in a trembling voice. But even he did not know what he meant. This explanation made the situation even more complicated.
Otis, on the other hand, was almost maddened by Harvey's statement.
"Isn't that what it looks like? You're cheating on my daughter, here, in this room, with this woman! You're betraying my daughter, you're betraying me, and you're still... you're still going to lie?" he exclaimed.
"How could you do this? How could I let a man like you run America? You're just a fraud!"
Harvey stepped back helplessly. "I can explain..." he mumbled. But his words made no sense. From now on, no matter how much he spoke, nothing would change.
He saw in Otis's eyes that nothing had changed; anger, disappointment and betrayal fuelled the old man's gaze.
"How dare you?" Otis shouted, his voice echoing like a storm filling the room.
"How dare you commit this betrayal? How dare you betray my daughter's trust, my trust?"
Harvey felt as if the world was collapsing around him. Every word Otis said was like a dagger to his soul. But trying to stop him with words was like trying to stop a storm. As Donna trembled silently beside Harvey, her father-in-law took a step closer.
"It seems..." Otis said, the words barely escaping his lips.
"You managed to destroy family honour before your presidential victory." Otis's disappointment was evident in the intonation of every word. Harvey had fucked everything up. He had created a problem he couldn't fix, he was in an ocean he couldn't swim in, a swamp he couldn't get out of.
As he glanced at Donna beside him, she felt every nerve in her body tense like a rope, echoing with the trembling of panic and fear. Her breathing was constricted by a deep sense of suffocation, and with each breath she felt as if she were in a box.
Shame spread through Donna's body like a cold sweat. Her skin was under the influence of this cold sweat, under the influence of a feeling of shame that grew like an avalanche. The trembling of her hands, a manifestation of this shame, was felt at every fingertip. The trembling in her body was not only a coldness, but also a sign of the loss of all spiritual balance. Somewhere inside her was a deep well of loneliness and fear caused by this shame, a well that darkened his every moment.
Otis's righteous anger fell on Donna like an avalanche; this anger, while destroying all her defences, was dragging Donna into nothingness. Every look in Otis's eyes cut through her soul like a knife. Donna felt trapped in a corner, losing all hope and confidence.
In addition to Otis' anger, the look in Harvey's eyes, mixed with guilt and grief, pushed her soul into a deep emptiness. Each glance, like a trap, was destroying all the courage in her, creating destruction in his every move and dragging him into a deep loneliness
The world before her eyes darkened rapidly, everything was lost in a cloud of uncertainty and fear. The thoughts in her mind, like a filmstrip passing quickly by, were filled only with fear and shame; each thought deepened the confusion inside her.
Otis's gaze hit Donna's face like a cold wall; this cold made her whole body tremble, creating a deep tension in every muscle. Donna's shame, like a cold winter wind, pierced through her skin and opened deep wounds in her soul. Tears welled up in her eyes from fear and shame.
Otis fixed his fiery gaze on Donna, trying to understand how everything had changed now that this woman he had introduced to Harvey had entered the darkest corners of his life.
"Donna," he said, his voice filled with trembling anger, "when I knew you, I thought you were a real talent, but now... now I find out you've been going behind my back, scheming in my daughter's shadow. I thought you were just an actress in the movies."
Donna's face trembled under these accusations, a look of deep fear and shame appearing in her eyes. Each word cut through her soul like a sharp knife, leaving traces of shame in every movement.
"I... I just..." she said, but the words stuck in her throat. She didn't know what words to use in her defence, her eyes staring off into space.
Otis's anger had turned into an explosion. He raised his voice and turned back to Harvey, "And you!" he shouted, each word like a slap.
"How could you betray me and my family? How could you so easily break my trust in you? Does someone like you have the right to be president? Are you repaying my faith in you by betraying the most precious person in the world to me?"
Harvey froze for a moment in his anger. His eyes met his father-in-law's gaze like deep pits, each glance sending up a cloud of guilt and sorrow.
"Otis, this is, after all, a misunderstanding," he began, but his voice shook under the weight of his words.
Donna's eyes became even more misty under the impact of Otis's words. The shame inside her grew like an avalanche, driving her mad in every way.
"Please... please, give me a chance. I'm trying to explain the situation," she said, but her voice carried a strangled desperation.
Otis's voice echoed with a chilling rumble.
"I spent my fortune on you! I made the biggest gamble of my life on you! I made you president of the United States! Without my money and my connections, you'd be nothing more than an incompetent lawyer! I made you! And you repay me by sleeping with the hot actress I introduced you to and cheating on my only daughter? You arsehole!" he said to Harvey.
"Otis," Harvey interrupted, not knowing what to say, but he had to come up with something. He couldn't lose everything on a night when he'd won everything. He had only been president for hours, he had to keep it at all costs.
"You son of a bitch, this is supposed to be your happiest day. Your new future was about to begin. When you became president... When you became a fath-" But suddenly, in the midst of the rage and the roar, there was a silence, a silence that was reflected in Otis's face.
a sign of pain and fear that was becoming clearer.
Otis's eyes, for a moment.
he sank into darkness in a corner where the carnival light faded. His body began to tremble, every movement echoing like a scream, a harbinger of disaster.
Harvey and Donna panicked as soon as they saw Otis' sudden change.
A sense of panic grew deep in Harvey's heart; his hands trembled like the hands of a person searching for some hope of salvation.
For a moment Donna felt that she had no control over her own body. Her heart was beating rapidly in the face of Otis's cruel eyes, and each beat felt as if it were beating in time with Otis's rage.
"Otis!" Harvey said and touched his arm, his voice echoing like a scream, a combination of fear and desperation. But it was only a futile flinging in the air, as if it were nothing that could prevent the father-in-law from collapsing.
For a moment, Otis took a deep breath and felt as if he had fallen into a void. His body was being pulled abruptly towards the ground. His face, like a mask, wore an ecstatic expression, his eyes shone as if he were caught in an abyss between life and death. The heart attack was like an avalanche that washed everything away, leaving a trail of destruction like the end of everything.
Harvey felt a deep sense of helplessness and fear as his father-in-law collapsed. He rushed to his father-in-law's side, but he did not know what to do, his hands were shaking, his every movement was like a person trapped in the middle of a chaos.
Donna ran to Harvey's side, but not knowing what to do, she leaned over to Otis. She watched Otis struggling, her eyes lost in the depths of fear and despair.
"Please, please, please don't die!" she said, but each word was like a bolt of lightning, striking the void, unable to stop Otis' pain.
Otis looked like a corpse, curled up on the floor, eyes wide, but unconscious, lying on the thin line between life and death. His every breath echoed weakly and irregularly, a sign of deep pain and struggle.
Harvey and Donna were frozen like statues in the centre of this dramatic scene. Their eyes were filled with their own feelings of guilt and anxiety in the face of the helpless expression on Otis' face. The panic and helplessness inside them had settled like a weight on every corner of their bodies, affecting their every move and decision.
Harvey, knelt by Otis's side, but put his hand on his head, not knowing what to do. His eyes focussed on his father-in-law's trembling body, his every move filled with anxiety and trembling, like the movements of a person standing on the brink of disaster.
"Harvey, what are we going to do?" Donna whispered, crying, her voice hoarse with a combination of despair and panic.
Harvey, noticing Donna's tears, tried to compose himself for a moment.
"Donna, please, pull yourself together. We have to call for help," he said, but his words hung ineffectually in the air, as if drowned under the weight of his father-in-law's agonised state.
"But... but how?" said Donna, thoughtfully. "Calling for help could expose us completely."
Donna's tears flowed even more violently.
"What are we going to do, Harvey?" she cried, her voice choked with a combination of despair and grief.
"We need to call for help, but... Otis... How can we find a solution now? How do we save him?"
Harvey and Donna locked eyes for a moment, each recognising the desperation and panic the other was experiencing. With each step, the guilt and helplessness weighed heavily on their bodies like a burden, driving them into a deep depression. Without making a plan on what to do, they watched the father-in-law's agonising condition in an almost frozen state. The unconscious body of the father-in-law stood in the centre of the room like a catastrophe, bringing the end and the complexity of everything down on them like an avalanche.
Donna, trying to wipe away her tears, looked for a glimmer of hope. "Harvey, maybe we should at least... maybe we should find a phone."
With those words, Harvey looked at Otis' trembling body, trying to find a way out. But above all, the pain and unconscious state of the father-in-law seemed to drown out every solution and hope.
"We've got to find a way out now," he said, but his voice carried a hope that hung in the air like a scream. "Listen, heres what we going to do, there's another door in the bathroom that leads to the corridor next door, go out of there, go back to the ballroom, somehow get people to come in here, say you heard a noise, say something. I'll make a phone call. But Donna..."
he said, and he approached Donna.
"..whatever happens, don't let anyone know you were just here, please... We're fucked right now, let's find a way to fix this. I'm as scared as you are, but letting this take over would be our doom. Please... for me..."
Donna shook her head, still crying, and looked one last time at Otis on the floor. Nothing would be the same when she left this room in a moment. She approached the bathroom door and turned towards Harvey.
"I love you, Harvey."
"I love you, Donna."

When Otis's condition was realised, an ambulance was immediately called. Paula, in the horror of the moment, did not know what to do. The celebrations came to an abrupt end; the joy on the faces was replaced by deep anxiety and panic. Crews rushed to get Otis to the nearest hospital. By this time, the media had realised what had happened and began to broadcast the developments live.
The media coverage was quite dramatic. In the breaking news, the news that the new president's father-in-law had suffered a heart attack and was hospitalised was broadcast on all screens. As the cameras showed the ambulance leaving the hotel and heading to the hospital, commentators emphasised how tragic this was on election night. This development overshadowed Harvey's victory, as the media and the public waited anxiously for news of Otis' health.
The ambulance was en route to George Washington University Hospital, the nearest major hospital to the JW Marriott Washington, D.C. The ambulance took a quick route to reach this hospital, taking Otis to a place where he could receive the best medical attention.
Harvey decided on an emergency basis to follow the ambulance with a private SUV and bodyguards. Paula, meanwhile, was a devastated wreck. She was just crying, she had lost all her strength, Harvey felt his heart squeeze. Donna was following behind in her private limousine, not convinced to wait at home.
On arrival at the hospital, there was a group of press and cameramen waiting for Harvey and Paula, amidst the flow of traffic that had formed at great speed in front of the ambulance and vehicles. The hospital was acting in accordance with the seriousness of the emergency. Harvey and Paula were quickly admitted through the hospital gates and directed to the nearest emergency department.
The hospital emergency department was at the centre of a tense moment of intense activity. Harvey and Paula attempted to speak to hospital staff to enquire about Otis's condition and were quickly directed to a waiting room. In this room, preparations for Paula's father's surgery were in full swing.
Paula began to have a nervous breakdown. She was trying to understand her father's illness with trembling hands in fear and anxiety. Her eyes were filled with tears and a deep sense of pain and helplessness. All around her, Harvey was trying to calm her down, but she was also deeply anxious. Paula suffered an emotional breakdown as she received no definite information about when the operation would start.
As the hours passed, the tension of waiting in the hospital room increased. Harvey and Paula waited for the successful outcome of Otis' surgery. After some time, Harvey, on the pretext of getting water, found the corridor where Donna was, and Donna rushed to Harvey's side. It was just the two of them in a corridor with the lights off.
Donna's eyes were swollen from crying.
"Is he okay? Any progress?" she said hopefully.
When Harvey shook his head in the negative, Donna continued to cry. It was all so ridiculous. All of it. Hours ago, Harvey had been president of the United States and the first thing he did was be with Donna. Now they were in the hospital, waiting for the results of Otis' surgery that had caught them.
"Harvey... What if he dies?" Donna said and looked into Harvey's eyes for an answer.
There was more panic and fear in Harvey's eyes than sadness. He seemed to be thinking more about the fight in the hotel room than about Otis.
"What if he lives?" Harvey said.
Donna frowned, it hadn't even occurred to her. Harvey was right, if Otis came back to life he could tell everything he saw and ruin both their lives. Either way, this story was going to end in shit. Unless Otis lost all his memories with a magic wand.
Just then, the hospital erupted in a scream. Donna and Harvey turned their heads in the direction of the sound, it was Paula's voice. "Dad!" she was screaming. Harvey held his breath, if this was what he thought it was, then - in his opinion - the best case scenario had come true.
Donna and Harvey hurried to where the voice had come from, to where Paula was, each step taking them further away, never reaching the end of the corridor. When they finally got there, Paula was slumped on the floor of the operating theatre, crying.
Donna looked quickly at Harvey, neither of them knowing what to do. The doctors said they'd done all they could, but Otis couldn't fight.
Otis Agard was dead
