Chapter 1: A whole new time
Hey guys/girls/others, it's-a me Mario and sonic pals, and I'm back with my first REAL crossover fanfic in a while. This story is a crossover with Smurfs and… Back to the Future, which was teased at the end of the previous fanfic. In case you didn't understand, the DeLorean is made of stainless steel. This crossover will start the same way as the first live action Smurfs movie, but with a few differences. Anyways, I'm smurfing out the usual disclaimer.
Disclaimer: I do not own the Smurfs, they are owned by Peyo. I do not own Back to the Future or its characters, they are owned by Universal. I only own Hector Smurf and Emily Smurf because they are my OCs. I also don't own any songs or lyrics that might be featured in this chapter, some lyrics might be changed. If the song is a parody, I don't own the original version of the song or the lyrics. Anyways, enjoy.
"There is a place. A place that knows no sadness," said Narrator Smurf, as he narrated the story. "Where even feeling blue is a happy thing. A place inhabited by little blue beings, three apples high. It lies deep in an enchanted forest, hidden away beyond a medieval village. Most people think that this place is made up, only to be found in books or in children's imaginations. Well, we beg to differ."
Suddenly, above the enchanted forest, there were three storks carrying bags with blue berries in their claws while having Smurfs ride on their backs.
"Come on, Farmer!" Greedy exclaimed.
The storks all dove into the enchanted forest. "We're going in!" said Farmer Smurf. "All right, Greedy, I'm gonna race you!"
"Not if I race you first!" said Vexy Smurf, as the three storks flew through the forest.
"Farm boys love to fly!" said Farmer.
"Oh yeah! So excited!" said Greedy, who was excited to get to the village to eat his second lunch.
"Okay boys, we're almost home!" said Vexy.
"Now you see us, now you don't!" said Farmer, as he flew his stork through an invisible curtain.
"Three, two, one. Yeah!" said Greedy.
"Oh yeah, we're home!" said Vexy.
The Smurfs had entered their village, filled with mushroom houses and even treehouses for some of the girl Smurfs. Today was a special day, as it was the Smurfs annual Festival of the Blue Moon.
The three Smurfs had emptied their bags of smurfberries into a giant basket. "Yeah! I love smurfberries! Hey, hey, the blue ones are mine!" said Greedy, as the storks placed the Smurfs back on the ground.
In the center of the village, the boy Smurfs and girl Smurfs were rehearsing for their singing and dancing performance for the Blue Moon Festival. They sang, of course, their own theme song. During the rehearsal, Smurfette was thrown gracefully into the air, and was caught by her fellow Smurfs.
Meanwhile, deep in the village, a smurfling by the name of Hector Smurf was making his way to the rehearsal. "Oh man, I'm so late," said Hector
"In Smurf Village, each and every Smurf plays their own special part."
Just then, Hector tripped over Handy's ladder.
"Woah, Nellie!" exclaimed Handy Smurf, as he regained his balance.
"Sorry, Handy," said Hector, who continued his journey to rehearsal.
"That's okay, Hector. You and your dad keep me employed!" said Handy.
"Which gives the Smurfs a sense of harmony."
"Hey Baker, nice pies," said Hector, as he sniffed the pies.
"Thanks, Hector!" said Baker Smurf.
The smurfling then bounced off a banner. "Great sign, guys," said Hector.
"And tranquility."
Hector then used a cart to speed his way through the village.
"Whether it's Handy Smurf the builder, SmurfMelody the musical smurfette, Baker Smurf…"
"Hey, Narrator Smurf!" said Hector, as he passed by Narrator Smurf.
"Hello, Hector! Just rehearsing the intro for the Blue Moon Festival!" said Narrator Smurf.
Hector then bumped into Chef Smurf, who was holding two pizzas. "Look out, Chef!" said Hector.
Eventually, the two Smurfs bumped into Painter Smurf's sculpture of Papa Smurf, causing the ice to shatter and the pieces to land on the pizza.
"I just invented frozen pizzas! Genius!" said Chef Smurf. Hector then took a slice and ate it.
"Pretty good, keep it up!" said Hector, followed by him continuing his journey to the rehearsal. He then took a shortcut through Jokey Smurf's house. "Hi, Jokey!"
"Hi, Hector," said Jokey, who was holding a present. "Hey, what do you get when you cross a Smurf and a cow?"
"I don't know, what?" asked Hector.
"Blue cheese!" laughed Jokey, causing Hector to chuckle. "By the way, I got you a present."
"Oh, thanks," said Hector. He began to open the present, which then exploded. "Of course. Well anyways, I'm late for rehearsal." Lucky for him, he managed to make it to rehearsal on time. "Hey, Grouchy. Hey, Gutsy."
"Whoa, whoa, whoa, slow your roll, sailor," said Grouchy, as he and Gutsy stopped Hector from entering.
"Hey, wait, wait. Isn't that the rehearsal for the Blue Moon Festival? Also, why isn't my dad here?" asked Hector.
"What can I say, Hector? You and your dad are not on the list," said Grouchy, showing his clipboard to the smurfling.
"Are you blind? They're right there," said Hector, pointing at the names.
"Right, under 'do not let in Hector and Clumsy,'" said Gutsy. Just then, Brainy entered the conversation.
"Uh, clearly you two lack the verbal skills required to explain this predicament succinctly," said Brainy, as he took the clipboard from Grouchy.
"Here we go," said Grouchy.
"You see, Hector, the other Smurfs don't want to dance with you and your father because they're afraid of what are politely called 'fractures,'" said Brainy.
"How could anyone think that?" said Hector, as he accidentally smacked Grouchy and Gutsy in the face. "Oops, sorry guys. Since I can't join the rehearsal, can I at least watch it?"
"Sure kid, why not," said Grouchy, while rubbing his nose.
"That's gonna leave a big blue bruise," said Brainy, as he walked across the bridge to rehearsal, followed by Grouchy and Gutsy kicking him into the air.
"Wonderful, beautiful!" said Vanity, who was admiring the dance routine. He then looked at himself in the mirror. "Marvelous."
Suddenly, Brainy landed in the middle of the dance, causing some of the Smurfs to fall over like dominoes. Some of them even fell into the lake.
"Cut, cut, cut! It's a dance, not dominoes," said Vanity. He then looked at his mirror, and gasped. "A worry line!"
"At that moment, Narrator Smurf continued to narrate the story. "As happy and as perfect as life in Smurf Village, even sunshine and butterflies must have their dark clouds," said Narrator Smurf. "And for all Smurfs, that dark cloud has one name: Gargamel, the evil wizard."
The Smurfs all gasped at the mention of their nemesis, as the music intensified. "Okay Smooth, I think we get the point," said Hefty, referring to a Smurf with sunglasses.
"Yo, I'm just setting the mood," said Smooth Smurf.
"Hey, Hector, do you think you can make some smurfroot mud packs," said Smurfette, as she faced the smurfling in question.
"Sure, I'll get some smurfroot from Papa Smurf," said Hector as he rushed to Papa Smurf's lab.
At Papa Smurf's lab…
Papa Smurf and SmurfWillow were conducting an experiment in Papa Smurf's lab. The experiment was to summon a vision, with the intention to see what the future holds.
"That blue moon time of year again," said Papa Smurf. "Time to Smurf some magic. Summon a vision and see what our future holds."
"We must get the visioning potion just right," said SmurfWillow, as she and Papa Smurf added the ingredients. "The magic is always strongest during the blue moon."
After one last drop of a potion, the vision began to show itself. The vision showed all the Smurfs having fun as usual. "So far, so good. Lots of smiles and smurfberries," said Papa Smurf.
"Hector and Clumsy aren't causing any trouble, that's always good," said SmurfWillow.
Suddenly, the vision showed a wand with a metal dragon as the head. "A dragon wand!" said Papa Smurf, who was all too familiar with this wand.
The vision then showed Hector attempting to catch the wand. "Hector!" gasped SmurfWillow in horror.
The vision continued, and it showed the Smurfs locked up in cages by Gargamel. Finally, the showed some of the Smurfs getting sucked through a blue portal.
"Oh, Hector, what have you done?" said Papa Smurf. As the vision began to fade away, Hector entered the lab.
"Hi, Papa! Hi, Willow!" said Hector, as he walked in.
The two elder Smurfs gasped. "Hector?!" they both said in unison.
"Are you two okay?" asked Hector.
Not wanting to alarm the little smurfling, the two elder Smurfs calmed down. "Yes. Fine. Why aren't you rehearsing for the Blue Moon celebration?" asked SmurfWillow.
"Oh, you know, a couple guys got smacked in the face, and the Smurfs tripped over each other like dominoes, so Smurfette asked me to make some smurfroot mud packs to tone down everyone's swelling," said Hector, as he looked for the smurfroot. "Ah Papa, your Smurf out of smurfroot. I'll go pick some."
"No!" said Papa Smurf, halting the smurfling. "Those fields are too close to Gargamel's castle. Willow and I will get the smurfroot."
"Exactly. You stay in the village where it's safe, we don't want to lose you again. Do you understand?" said SmurfWillow.
"Okay," said Hector, as he went to the exit. "If you say so." He then closed the door.
"A vision's never been wrong, Willow," said Papa Smurf. "We can't let this happen to our Smurfs." SmurfWillow nodded in agreement.
Later in the forest…
Unbeknownst to Papa Smurf and SmurfWillow, Hector had disobeyed their orders and went to the smurfroot fields. "Just stay in the village they said," said Hector, as he picked the smurfroot. "Look at all this smurfroot, everyone is going to be so proud of me."
Suddenly, a dark shadow was cast upon the ground. When Hector looked up, it was none other than… Gargamel. "AHH! Gargamel!" screamed Hector, as he dashed back towards the village, nearly escaping Gargamel's butterfly net.
"Get back here you little blue demon!" said Gargamel. His cat, Azrael, started to chase the smurfling, until he disappeared behind the invisible curtain.
Back in the village…
SmurfStorm and Clumsy, Hector's parents, approached Papa Smurf and SmurfWillow to ask about the vision they had seen. They were also accompanied by Grouchy and Vexy's daughter, Emily Smurf.
"So, what did you see in your vision, Papa?" asked Clumsy.
"Nothing apocalyptic, really," lied Papa Smurf.
"Everything's going to be just fine, as usual," said SmurfWillow, who also lied.
"Perfect, another year we don't have to worry about that mean old…" said SmurfStorm, but she was cut off by her son, Hector, who came running.
"Gargamel!" yelled Hector.
"We know who she meant, Hector," said Emily.
"No, no! Gargamel!" said Hector, as he pointed at the evil wizard who popped out of the bushes. "I kinda, sorta accidentally led him to the village!"
Gargamel started to attack by stepping and destroying one of the mushroom houses, causing the Smurfs to run.
"Smurf for your lives!" said Vanity Smurf, as he ran while holding his mirror.
"Everybody skedaddle!" shouted Handy.
"Everyone, Smurf to the forest!" commanded SmurfWillow.
"Don't have to tell us twice," said Clumsy, followed by them making haste to the forest.
"Sound the alarm, Crazy," said Papa Smurf, followed by Crazy Smurf making an alarm sound with his voice.
Azrael started to attack some Smurfs, but got distracted by Gutsy.
"Hey, cat! Azrael, over here!" said Gutsy, causing the cat to chase him until he was stuck in a Smurf house. "There you go, you nasty cat. Heh heh." He then ran to the forest.
As Papa and Willow got their emergency smurfberries, they were spotted by Gargamel. "Papa!" said Gargamel, followed by him smashing Papa Smurf's mushroom house, but not before the two elder Smurfs could escape and set off a defensive trap.
The trap released a small log, which missed Gargamel. "Papa, your primitive little defenses are useless against me, sir!" said the evil wizard. Little did he know that a bigger log was coming towards him. "I laugh at them!" He was about to catch Papa and Willow, but was hit by the giant log, and he landed on the mushroom house that Azrael was trapped in.
"How's that for primitive, Gargamel!" said Papa Smurf, as he and Willow made their way to the forest.
Back in the forest, Hector was looking for a place to hide from Gargamel. He then found a sign that said 'Go this way'. "Yes, this is it! Follow me, everyone!" said Hector, as he went to the direction that the sign was pointing. He then tripped over a vine, revealing that the sign said 'Do not go this way'.
On their way, Papa Smurf, SmurfWillow, SmurfStorm, Clumsy, Grouchy, Vexy, Emily, Gutsy, SmurfBlossom, SmurfLily, Brainy, Hefty, Vanity, Farmer and Handy saw Hector heading the wrong way.
"Hector! You're going the wrong way!" said SmurfStorm.
"He's heading for the forbidden falls!" said Brainy.
"With a blue moon coming?" said Grouchy.
"Quickly Smurfs, stop him!" commanded Papa Smurf, to which everyone obeyed.
"Unbelievable. The one time I want my son to trip and he's running perfectly," complained Clumsy.
"This is a big problem," said SmurfBlossom.
The signs above the Smurfs had warnings (which were written on logs), which some of them noticed. "Is anybody reading these?" said Hefty.
Finally, Hector made it to a cave, which ended in a cliff, which made him realize that he had gone the wrong way. Suddenly, Hector tripped over a rock, causing him to fall off the cliff, but he managed to hold onto a branch. Just then, the other Smurfs arrived.
"Guys, help!" said Hector.
"Hold on, laddie, we'll form a Smurf bridge to get you," said Gutsy, as the Smurfs began to form a Smurf bridge. They then began to lower Gutsy, who managed to grab Hector as soon as the branch broke. "Gotcha!"
"I'd hate to interrupt this moment, but this is more of a chain than a bridge," said Brainy.
"Smurf it, Brainy!" said the other Smurfs. Suddenly, a blue light beamed into the cave.
"It's the blue moon!" said Clumsy. Just then, a blue portal appeared in the nearby waterfall. "Oh no, not again!"
"Oh no, the vision," murmured Papa Smurf.
"Don't let go!" said Handy.
"Look out for the hole!" said Hefty, as the portal started to suck up the Smurfs.
"No, it's more of a vortex. A portal," said Brainy.
"Smurf up, it's a hole," said Grouchy. Suddenly, the Smurfs started to lose their balance, but Papa Smurf grabbed a branch just in time… except that the branch was actually Gargamel's net.
"Oh no!" said Vexy, in horror.
"Looks like you got the short end of the stick, eh, Papa?" said Gargamel, as he pulled the Smurfs closer. "Now you all belong to me!"
"Not this time, Gargamel!" said Papa Smurf, followed by him letting go of the net, causing the Smurfs to travel in the portal.
On the other side of the portal…
Once the Smurfs were out of the portal, they were in a place that was unfamiliar to them all. "That was… great! Let's have another go!" said Gutsy.
"Are you smurfed, we almost died in there!" said Grouchy.
"Woah, we're not even wet," said Smurfette.
Hector climbed onto a nearby rock. "What part of the enchanted forest is this?" asked Hector.
"One thing's for sure, we're not in Smurf Village anymore," said SmurfLily.
"Hey Smurfs, you may want to take a look at this!" said Hector, who was on top of the rock he was climbing. The other Smurfs then climbed up onto the rock.
"Why are we listening to him? He just got us sucked through a giant hole," said Grouchy.
"It's not a hole, it's a vortex," corrected Brainy.
"Also, can't we just go around the rock?" asked Emily. Once the Smurfs were all on the rock, they were greeted by a large town by the name of… Hill Valley in 1985. The Smurfs were all amazed at the sight of town.
"Oh, my, Smurf," said Vexy.
"Where the Smurf are we?" asked Handy.
"In a new smurfing world without a map, that's where," said Gutsy.
"Well, at least Gargamel isn't following us," said Brainy, who was also wrong for once. The portal began to open wide, as it launched Azrael all the way to a nearby river. "Nevermind, run!"
The Smurfs ran as if their lives depended on it, which it clearly did. "We'll circle back when it's safe," said Papa Smurf.
Meanwhile, near the mini waterfall the Smurfs were just at, a teenager around seventeen years old was riding on a skateboard while holding onto the back of a truck. That teenager was none other than… Marty McFly.
Once Marty was at his destination, he made his way into the school. You see, this was Marty's last year of school before graduation, and he and his girlfriend Jennifer Parker had big plans for their future. The only thing stopping him from reaching those plans was his final essay. He had to write an essay on a creature that peaked his interest.
Once Marty was in his school, he was Greeted by Jennifer. "Hey, Jennifer," said Marty.
"Hey, Marty. Have you started on your essay yet?" asked Jennifer, as she and Marty walked down the hall to class.
"Not yet, I still haven't decided what creature to write about," said Marty. "To be honest, I don't know if there's a creature that peaks my interest."
"Don't worry, Marty, you'll find out soon enough," said Jennifer.
"I hope you're right," said Marty, as he and Jennifer both entered their classroom.
Okay, I think I'm going to stop here for now. Sooo, what do you guys / girls / others think, pretty good if I do say so myself. I think this is the first crossover I'm actually proud of. Anyways, see you in the next chapter.
