This is a rewrite of year four. It has been a while since I have seen the movies or read the books so please bear with me. If I get the name of a spell wrong please don't have a shit fit, I'm trying my best. I DO NOT OWN THE RIGHTS TO ANY HARRY POTTER CHARACTERS, PLACES, CREATURES, ETC. J.K. ROWLING DOES. Btw I have gone Back and reworked some parts of the two chapters so far. it is nothing major but more subtle details.

BTW If You want to read a story set in an original universe go check out my story over on fiction press Called 'The Neon District.' I will warn you it's rather dark and there are a few parts that may not make the most sense now but will later.

Chapter I: Off to the Grangers.

July 20th 1994

Harry awoke in his room and he checked the time: 08:30 'Dammit I'm gonna be late.' He thought to himself. He recalled the letter that Hermione had sent to him a few days prior.

'Hello Harry, I would like to inform you that Dumbledore approved my idea of you staying at my place for the rest of the summer. My father and I will be picking you up on July 20th at 10 AM Sharp. P.S. My Parents really want to meet you. — Hermione Granger'

He had already informed his Aunt and Uncle and they seemed happy that they did not have to deal with him. Harry packed all of his things into his trunk and rushed downstairs to grab breakfast when Vernon stopped him on his way to the stairs.

"Listen here boy, when that Witch friend of yours arrives here, there will be no funny business she is not to set foot in this house and NO MAGIC SHIT! We've already got enough freaks in this house and we don't need another. Am I understood boy?"

Harry usually lets Vernon's insults roll right off his back but today he was not gonna take Vernon's shit and he especially was not gonna let him mudsling Hermione. Harry showed no expression but anger in his face. His eyebrows slanted and his eyes narrowed. "Yes Vernon I understand but let's get one thing clear."

"And What Might That Be?!" Vernon was surprised that Harry used his first name and was mildly terrified.

Harry spoke in a very calm voice that sent a chill down Vernon's spine. "Don't ever talk about any of my friends like that, especially Hermione." Vernon Released his grip on Harry's collar and did nothing more but slowly nod his head and go back to his room.

Harry went downstairs and poured himself a bowl of cereal and then went back up to his room. He spent the next hour reading a book he found about the origins of the Patronus Charm. He heard the doorbell ring and then Dudley ran into his room and shouted.

"Oi asshat your whore is here!" Dudley had the same shit eating grin on his face that he always did.

"Fuck off Dudley!" Harry said with a tone that sounded more like a dog barking.

Harry pushed past him and took his trunk downstairs and he answered the door. "Hi Harry!" Hermione pulled him into a tight embrace, Harry embraced her back. "Mione, you do know that I need oxygen right."

"Oh sorry." Hermione giggled and released him, her cheeks were visibly red. The two walked to the car where Hermione's father was waiting. Hermione's father extended his hand and Harry shook it. "Mr. granger." He said. "Harry Potter." Said Harry. "Hermione's told us a lot about you. Here let me help you with the trunk."

Together, they loaded the trunk into the trunk of the car and then Harry got in the back seat with Hermione. The whole way to the Granger's residence, Harry and Hermione were chatting like usual and Harry couldn't stop thinking about how incredible she looked. In the span of a little over a month Hermione had matured greatly.

Hermione couldn't stop thinking the same thing, the last time she saw him they were about the same height and now he was a few inches taller than her and by the looks of it, he must've been going to the gym too because he had a decent amount of muscle for a fourth year.

"So Harry, when did you find out you had magical abilities?" Mr. Granger inquired.

"Well funny story it all happened when after a boatload of letters came into the house, Vernon took us to a remote location to avoid the letters but then the groundskeeper of Hogwarts, Hagrid kicked in the door and told me I was a wizard." They continued talking.

Eventually they arrived at the Granger's house and Hermione's mother was waiting at the door. He shook her hand and introduced himself before being ushered inside by Hermione who was very eager to show him around. "Follow me, I'll show you your room." Hermione said enthusiastically, she was absolutely delighted to have Harry here and to be able to get him out of that wretched excuse for a family.

She took his hand and led him upstairs as Mr. and Mrs. Granger watched. "She one hundred percent has a crush on him." Said Mrs. Granger. "Oh I know for a fact she does."

"How?"

"The other day, I was helping her look for something and she had left her diary open on her desk and not knowing what it was, I took a glance at it and It mentioned Harry a lot and in a not just friends way."

Hermione first showed Harry where the bathroom was, followed up by where he would be staying. Harry looked around what would be his room and he liked it a lot. The colors of it perfectly matched Gryffindor and it looked like this would be a fun summer. Hermione then showed him her room and Harry was dumbstruck by what he saw.

Her room looked like an elven kingdom, with fairy lights and a cozy looking reading corner and part of the wall was covered, floor to ceiling with bookshelves. "Mione, How many books are in here?" Harry asked with amazement. "I would say over a thousand." She said nonchalantly. Harry's jaw dropped.

They sat down on the bed for a second and Harry was surprised with how comfy it was. "How is your bed this soft?" Harry inquired. "Oh that was easy. I just used Mollis Plumis on the mattress and it instantly became that soft. (That is my own made up spell, okay don't sue me.)

"Harry, would you like to maybe go for a walk outside?" Hermione asked in a sweet voice.

"Yeah sure, why not." Harry replied. They went through the kitchen and out the back door and went for a walk outside in the beautiful summer weather. "You know, there's a lake not too far from here, if you wanted to go swimming sometime, we could." She suggested.

"That would be excellent."

"You okay Harry, you seem a bit off. Ever since we got here you've been... Quieter than usual." To be truthful Harry had been feeling a bit overwhelmed by everyone's kindness but there was something more sinister that was keeping him down. He could feel Voldemort's power growing.

"I'm fine just not used to being here."

Hermione put an arm around him and looked right into his eyes. "Harry I can tell that there's something other than that bothering you." She said with a concerned tone and a caring look on her face.

Harry was silent for a moment before speaking. "It's Voldemort, I can feel his power growing, he's getting stronger and he's planning something big." Hermione was silent and she went pale. She sat Harry down on a bench and she leaned against him with her arm around him in an attempt to comfort him. Harry had a slight frown on his face and Hermione was gonna do everything in her power to make him feel better.

"Do you know what he's planning?" she asked in a near whisper tone. "No," He replied.

They sat there for a moment in silence before Harry spoke up.

"How about we go swimming in the lake?" He suggested. "That would be fun." She responded. They went inside and changed into their swimsuits before walking back down to the lake. "Harry, follow me."

Hermione showed him a spot where one could high dive off of a rock and land in a deep spot of the lake. The two of them dove off of the cliff together and played around in the lake for a while. They had so much fun that they completely lost track of time.

Later that day they had dinner. Mrs. Granger had prepared chicken for dinner. "So Harry tell us, what's life like where you live?" Mr. Granger asked.

Hermione knew that this wasn't gonna be a very good conversation and tried to change the subject but Harry spoke before she could stop him. "Well the Dursleys are not the best, I don't know exactly why but they just hate me. I think it's because I'm a wizard and my mother was a Witch and my Aunt was jealous of my mother so despite my mother being dead they take out their anger on me."

Mr. And Mrs. Granger were dead silent then Mrs. Granger spoke up. "If You don't mind me asking, why do you still live with them?"

"I have no other choice as they are my only blood relatives left."

Hermione then stepped in to change the subject. "Mum Dad, did I ever tell you of the time Harry defeated a Basilisk."

"No I don't believe you did." Replied Mr. Granger. "Please tell us what a Basilisk is?" Mrs. Granger asked.

"It's a thirty foot long snake that can petrify people just by looking at them." Hermione said. Her parent's jaws dropped and they looked at Harry with amazement. Harry was sitting in his chair looking as red as a tomato.

"Mum Dad please don't treat him differently because of his abilities, Harry hates that kind of attention, he just wants to be normal." Stated Hermione. Harry thanked Hermione for that and later, they finished their dinner and Harry wished Mr. and Mrs. Granger a goodnight before going off to bed.

He changed into his boxers and a pair of shorts and nothing more.

Later that night Hermione awoke to hear troubling noises from Harry's room, she threw on a loose top and a pair of shorts before heading over to Harry's room to see what the disturbance was.

Hermione opened the door just a crack and she saw Harry tossing and turning on the bed and in a strained voice he was saying random nonsense. Hermione went into his room, closed the door and knelt down beside his bed. With a concerned look on her face, she gently placed a hand on his cheek and she woke him up. "Harry."

Harry's eyes quickly opened and he couldn't tell that it was Hermione at first and so he rapidly shifted away until he was up against the wall. "Back Away!" He said in a shaky voice. "Harry it's me." Said Hermione. "Don't worry you're safe, we're in my house remember." She said, She reached out a hand and placed it on his shoulder.

Harry moved forward and sat on the edge of the bed. Hermione pulled him into a warm and comforting hug and she knew that whatever had happened in his nightmare was going to make him cry. Harry was shaking and a few tears ran down his cheek as Hermione comforted him. "Shh it's okay Harry, it was just a dream." She whispered to him. Hermione gently rubbed his back which seemed to calm him down significantly.

Once Harry was calmed down enough, She sat down next to him and the two held each other. "What happened in your nightmare Harry?" Hermione asked. "Well, we're at the Quidditch world cup and all of a sudden it's just chaos. There are these people dressed in all black and they are killing and destroying everything. People are running and screaming and then I see you and Ron get cornered by one of them and I try to defend you guys but they disarm me and then right as I hit the ground I see him... K-kill you and Ron."

Hermione pulled Harry close and reassured him that it was just a dream and that it would not happen. "Alright Harry you need some sleep so lay down and rest." Hermione said in a caring voice. Harry did as she said and laid down on his bed. What happened next surprised him, Hermione climbed in right next to him and snuggled close to him. "I'm staying right here until you fall asleep. Okay Harry?" Harry knew that she wasn't gonna take no for an answer and part of him did not even want her to leave at all so He simply nodded and closed his eyes.

Harry was able to comfortably get some of the best sleep he's ever had by falling asleep while holding Hermione. He awoke at around 7:45 and much to his surprise he found that Hermione was right on top of him and she started to slowly wake up. "Morning Mione." Harry said in a sleepy voice.

"Good morning, I must have accidentally fallen asleep here last night." Hermione said in an adorable tired voice, followed by a giggle. Harry laughed a little as well. Harry could not get over how cute Hermione looked and sounded when she was waking up. Eventually the two got up, luckily before Hermione's parents did otherwise that would be one awkward explanation.

"Harry I'm going to take a shower, I'll find you when I'm done." Hermione explained as she grabbed a towel and went into the bathroom. Harry went downstairs and sat on the couch. He then figured to make use of himself and prepare some cereal for everyone.

He checked the cabinets until he found the cereal and then he went into the fridge and grabbed the milk. Everyone was thankful for Harry making breakfast for them even though he did not have to.

Harry and Hermione spent the rest of the day having fun and goofing around. Eventually July 31st rolled around quickly aka Harry's birthday and Hermione wanted to do something special for his birthday. The night beforehand Hermione and Her mother stayed up late and made Harry a cake. Harry woke up, got dressed and went downstairs and was surprised to see a red and gold cake sitting on the kitchen table followed by Hermione jumping out from around the corner.

"Happy Birthday Harry!" Hermione said with excitement as she hugged him. Harry returned her hug and then saw Mr. And Mrs. Granger smiling at him. Harry thanked each of them and after breakfast, (No It was not the cake.) Harry and Hermione decided to go on a walk towards the lake nearby and walk along the shoreline of the lake.

As they walked along the shoreline, Harry turned to Hermione and spoke: "Mione, I just want to thank you again for this, you don't know how much this means to me." He then gave her a gentle kiss on the cheek. Hermione was now blushing profusely 'Did he just kiss me? Merlin's beard Harry Just Kissed My Cheek!'

"Well Harry you're very welcome, also it wasn't just me that got the cake, me and my mum stayed up last night and baked it for you." She then reached into her pocket and pulled out a small box and she opened it. Inside was a silver necklace with the symbol of Gryffindor on it.

"I also got you this." Hermione said as she handed it to him with a smile. Harry looked at it and smiled. He pulled her into a hug. The rest of the day, Hermione could not get Harry off her mind.
