Battle of Britain, 1940…

Searchlights flashed through the night sky even as people found it difficult to sleep, and for good reason.

That year, after taking France, Adolf Hitler had decided to take Britain. He had been sending many pilots of the Luftwaffe on attack missions over the channel, and now he was regularly having his planes bomb London at night; the London Blitz.

And now one such raid was commencing.

Two Nazis, one a pilot and the other one, a gunner sat in the cockpit of a Messerschmitt 110. There were several other Messerschmitt 110s around, all on this raid.

The pilot said, "We're above London. Get the bombs ready."

The gunner got down and began to prepare to drop the bombs the plane was carrying.

Of course, anti aircraft gunners were firing at the planes.

The pilot cursed, "This flak is so thick. Be quick." even as he turned to avoid the flak, which had hit another Messerschmitt 110.

The gunner watched the plane plummet to the ground helplessly and explode, no doubt killing at least a few civilians.

"We're at the location now." The gunner said.

"Drop now." the pilot replied.

The bay doors opened and the gunner pulled a switch, causing the bombs to be released and sent falling down towards a civilian area.

Other planes were dropping their bombs and explosions were lighting up the ground below.

Meanwhile in a house, a black haired boy stood at the window of the living room, watching the scenery. Suddenly, a woman, the boy's mother rushed in and pulled him away crying out, "Edmund, get away from there!"

Even as she pulled the curtains to close them, she cried out, "Peter!"

A brown haired boy, older than the first one rushed into the room even as the mother held Edmund's arms crying out, "What do you think you're doing? Peter quickly, the shelter, now!"

Peter took Edmund crying out, "Come on!"

Edmund cried out, "Dad…" but Peter did not listen, crying out, "Come on!" even as he pulled him out of the room.

The mother grabbed a few blankets nearby and a flashlight before rushing out of the room.

Meanwhile, in a bedroom, a small girl lay in bed, her hands over her ears, crying out, "Mummy!"

Another girl, older and taller, entered the bedroom with a flashlight. She grabbed a few books off a nightstand before turning to the small girl.

Crying out, "Lucy come on!", she rushed over to her and pulled her out of the bed by her arm.

Screaming in terror, the children ran outside the back door of the house, towards a bomb shelter, following their mother who was trying to keep calm.

Suddenly, at the last second, Edmund turned away and ran back towards the house crying out, "Wait, Dad!"

"Ed," Peter cried out, trying to stop him, but Edmund escaped despite his brother and mother's protests.

Even as the sound of a bomb getting close could be heard, Peter ran after him saying, "I'll get him."

"Peter get back!" the mother cried out in vain as Peter rushed after Edmund.

Edmund ran into the living room and grabbed a picture of their father from a table. Just then, Peter pushed Edmund down crying out, "Edmund get down!"

A bomb hit the ground just outside the living room window, causing the glass to shatter and scatter across the room.

Even as Edmund grabbed the picture from the floor, Peter pulled Edmund up and forcibly led him out crying out, "Get up you idiot! Run!"

They ran outside and towards the door of the shelter where their mother was waiting and crying out, "Come on, hurry!"

As soon as they reached the door and went down the steps, Peter pushed Edmund inside and onto a floor bed.

Even as Edmund gave out a cry of pain, Peter started yelling, "Why don't you care about anyone but yourself?! You're so selfish! You, you could have got us killed!"

"Stop it!" the mother cried out and turning to Edmund, who was still holding their father's picture, pulled him up and into her arms.

An exasperated Peter exclaimed, "Why can't you just do as you're told?!"

Even as Edmund shot Peter an apologetic but hurtful look, Peter turned and closed the door.

P.S. : I just assumed what the pilots must have been saying and put their dialogues in italics to represent german. I couldn't understand what they were actually saying. Sincere apologies.
