Chapter 3

Nicole sighed as she unlocked the door and headed into her home, Jecka following right behind her.

"So...what do you think?" She asked. "Any ideas for costumes for the Halloween party?"

Nicole rolled her eyes. "Yeesh, I agreed to go, isn't that enough?"

"C'mon, it's Halloween, we might as well get dressed up." Jecka complained.

"You have a costume?" Nicole queried.

"Well, not yet, which is why I thought we might as well look together." She replied.

Nicole shook her head. "Oh yeah, that's gonna work well."

"I could give you costume advice." A gravelly sleazy sounding voice said.

Nicole snarled. "Fuck."

She turned to glare at the twenty-seven year obese adult with a goatee, brown like his hair and blue eyes. He was sporting a headset with a microphone attached, and wearing a black t-shirt with a print of the original Xbox logo and jeans.

"Who the fuck invited you to join this conversation." She angrily snapped at her creep of a brother.

"It clearly wasn't private, I have the right to get involved in anything in this house." He shot back. "As I said, easy costume choice-"

He leered at Jecka as he said this, his eyes sliding up and down her shapely figure like syrup over pancakes, much to the disgust of both girls.

Jecka groaned.

"Urgh, gross, make him go away." She groaned.

Nicole stepped right up, close to outright rage. "Look you disgusting perv, she's my age alright, you just take your creepy self back down to that basement and get on with your lame video games!"

Her creep of a brother was about to reply when suddenly a sound distracted them. Namely the sound of the door opening and the siblings mother entering. Instantly her eyes narrowed at the sight of her son.

"Are you causing more trouble." She snapped at once.

He held up his hands. "Hey, of course not, just came to get something to eat and-"

"And starting perving on Jecka and making comments about what he'd like to see her wear for Halloween." Nicole cut in. "Knowing him, it involves clothing optional."

Nicole smirked at her brother as he looked at her in betrayal. Their mom snarled, a look of rage on her face that scarily mirrored the one Nicole had previously.

"Get back down in that basement and I'll deal with you later, you waste of life!" She raged, to which he quickly did while she calmed somewhat. "You might have mentioned you were bringing a friend around."

"It was a spur of the moment thing, mom." Nicole replied. "I thought you'd be pleased, I didn't skip school today."

"You're right, you didn't, you just sent a boy to the hospital by making him consume incredibly spicy sauces." Her mother snapped.

Nicole scoffed. "He deserved it, harassing me constantly, it wasn't like there were any other options."

"Excuse me?" Mom growled. "There were options Nicole."

"None that would work. Let me guess, tell a teacher, they'd congratulate him or ignore him. Tell him to leave me alone, tried it five times already." Nicole snapped, getting angry again.

Jecka bit her lip as she looked back and forth between the arguing mother and daughter.

Nicole's mom sighed and shook her head.

"Maybe you could've tried going to the Principal instead of a teacher, or tell me."

Nicole scoffed. "Oh really, what would you have done mom?"

She was surprised by her mom's surprisingly devious smile. "I happen to know a lot of lawyers, Nicole, from all my divorces. I could have made life very uncomfortable for him."

"Huh...well, I'll remember that for next time." Nicole replied with a shrug.

"If there is a next time-"

"There is going to be a next time mom. Rapists and pedophiles are all over that school, it's practically a criteria to be a male student or teacher there." Nicole said darkly.

Shaking her head, Mom stalked over to the kitchen leaving an uncomfortable silence behind.

"Um...I think maybe I should go." Jecka said at last

Nicole nodded. "Yeah, sorry you got subjected to my brother. I'll see you tomorrow, remember to bring the Percocet as we agreed. I'll snag some of mom's Xanax tomorrow."

Jecka nodded. "Right...maybe we can discuss costumes better then."

Nicole just smirked but nodded and watched as Jecka left before shaking her head and going up to her room to avoid any further problems, she just couldn't be bothered with them anymore.
