The newborn Natu were beautiful.

So beautiful, in fact, that Valerie hadn't noticed she'd been staring, wide-eyed, until she felt Sylveon's paw on her leg.

"I wonder what it's like, being a Natu. They're so mystical, so delicate, so—oh! Elsie, you must be hungry! We'll get going now, I promise. I'm so sorry!"

This happened far too often, Valerie knew. Whether she was in Kalos or back home in Johto or traveling the world, showing off her many costumes inspired by the whimsical, wonderful Pokémon she came across simply going about their lives, she always ended up lost in a daydream, imagining what it would be like to be any of those Pokémon as she, too, went about her life. Perhaps Elsie had a reason to be frustrated, then; and to that, Valerie could only apologize profusely and feed her partner extra poképuffs to make up for her absentmindedness.
