Despicable Me: Family In The Zoo Chapter 1
One day in the Gru residence, Lucy was planning a trip to the zoo where Jillian's husband and Jessica's dad Julius worked as a zookeeper with all three of her daughters. ''Everyone ready?'' asked Lucy. ''Yeah!'' chorused Margo, Edith and Agnes. ''All been to the toilet?'' asked Lucy. ''Yeah!'' said Margo and Agnes. ''Oh, wait! No! I haven't I won't be a minute!'' said Edith as she hastily ran to the bathroom. She closed the door behind her, when she was done, she washed her hands and came back. ''OK, now I am!'' she said. ''Great'' said Lucy. She turned to her husband, ''Gru, come on'' she said. But grumpy Gru remained seated on the crocodile couch. ''You go. I'm staying'' he growled. ''Huh?!'' said the four females.
''Dad, you're not coming?'' said Margo. ''Nope!'' said Gru. ''What's the matter? Is something wrong?'' asked Lucy.
''Have you seen what happened to me with those creatures?!'' said Gru. He reminded everyone of the times where he'd been attacked by some animals, including his own dog Kyle, Vector's shark, El Macho's chicken, one of the pigs in Freedonia and even Principal Übelschlecht's honey badger. Gru didn't want those to happen again. ''Gru, you don't have to avoid animals just because you've got attacked by them'' said Lucy gently. ''I'm sorry, ladies. I'm just not cut out for this'' said Gru. ''You need to get into the spirit, Gru. Before you miss it all out on your life. Come on, girls'' said Lucy.
She and her daughters headed out of the front door and Lucy closed it behind them. ''Peace and quiet at last'' sighed Gru, ''Ha-ha-ha. OK, now I can get on with my jobs and my own time''. He grabbed some coffee and turned on the TV. ''In Africa, you can find the largest animal life on land, the elephant!'' said a female voiceover on the TV.
''AHH!'' shrieked Gru grabbing the remote and changing the channel. ''I have been studying a lifetime about the species of these bears…'' said a male explorer. ''GRRR!'' growled Gru and changed the channel again. ''Join us next week who lived as the king of the jungle, the lion'' said a female explorer. ''Oh! COME ON!''groaned Gru and changed the channel yet again. ''Humpback whales spend most of their time underwater….'' said a male voiceover.
Gru groaned angrily and turns off the TV. ''Can't I have a day without those disgusting creatures!?'' he muttered. Then Dru came in. ''Hey, brother!'' he said cheerfully. ''Oh, hey, Dru'' said Gru. ''I heard you refused to come to zoo with Lucy and the girls'' said Dru. ''Yes because I don't like it'' said Gru. ''Why? Is it all because you got attacked by the animals'' asked Dru. ''Not just that'' said Gru sorrowfully, ''Because Mom wouldn't let me''.
Gru flashed his mind back to when he was a child. ''I am ready for the zoo, Mom'' he said at the time. ''NO! You are not going to that ridiculous place with those mindless creatures, you dolt!'''' said his mom Marlena rudely. Back in the present day, ''She said I'm not allowed'' moaned Gru sadly.
''What? But that's wrong'' said Dru, ''Dad took me to the zoo plenty of times before and it was great fun for a family trip''. ''Yes, Gru, your mom should know better. It's wrong of her to think the zoo is dangerous. Well, it's only dangerous if you're in the exhibit where the animal is'' said Dr Nefario coming into the room, ''Remember I took you to the zoo when you were just a boy? I did it for you''. ''Yes, I appreciate that Dr Nefario. Thank you'' said Gru. But he still looked sad. ''But I wish mom and I could have gone together as a family earlier'' he said. ''Well, maybe we can, brother. You're OK with Kyle, Blondie and Lucky and they respect you'' Dru pointed out. Gru thought for a while. Deep in thought still. At last, he made up his mind. ''Let's go!'' said Gru. ''Go where?'' said Dru. ''The zoo'' said Gru.
Uh, brother. It's too late now. Lucy and the girls have already left'' said Dru. ''No, we can catch up to them'' insisted Gru. He grabbed Dru's hand, ''Let's go!''. ''Good luck, boys'' said Dr Nefario. The Minions waved. One of the minions held up a stuffed predator in from the other minions. ''RRRGH!'' said the first minion. ''AAAAAHHHH!'' screeched the second minion running in circles for two seconds before crashing into the wall. The other minions laughed hysterically. The first minion spoke in minionese,'' Looka-doo!'', he imitated the screaming, then continued laughing. The second minion mumbled in minionese, not finding it funny. Meanwhile at the zoo, Lucy, Margo, Edith and Agnes were having a wonderful time together.
Throughout the zoo was a number of animal displays, which accommodated various species. The exhibits were all tailored to fit the needs of the animals that resided within them. The first animals Lucy and the girls saw were a pride of lions. One of the male lions stood on all four paws and roared. ''Woah-ho-ho-hooo!'' whooped Edith, ''I wanna make that sound!''. ''You're a human being, Edith. Not an animal'' said Margo. They watched the zoo keepers feeding the lions. The lions charged towards a pile of raw meat and started devouring it roaring and grunting. One lion stayed there just grunting for a moment then he began to eat too. ''That's a lot of meat'' said Agnes. ''I think they're from a dead animal, I LIKE IT!'' said Edith happily.
Margo facepalmed. ''OK, let's go see the elephants, darlings'' said Lucy. The four females went to the elephant enclosure. They saw the elephants including Stompy! Edith was delighted to see her old friend. ''Stompy!'' she exclaimed. Hearing her call out, Stompy saw his little human friend and dashed over toward her. Edith and Stompy embraced with Stompy's trunk. ''OK, Edith, let Stompy continue with his enjoyment with the other elephants'' said Lucy after a while. ''OK, Mom'' said Edith.
