Despicable Me: Family In The Zoo Chapter 2

Stompy headed back to the other elephants. They ate some hay in a ball hung on a post. After they'd done eating, they went for a swim. ''Hey, look! That's where we get to see how elephants swim!'' said Margo spotting a passageway.

Lucy and the girls took the passageway. They came into a dark space with what looked like a big glass wall with deep water on the other side like in aquariums. To everyone's amazement, there were elephants actually swimming with their legs kicking! ''Wow! I never knew the zoo had one of these parts before!'' said Lucy. ''Yeah, Mom, this so cool!'' said Margo. ''I can see Stompy over there! Look how great he is at swimming!'' said Edith. ''Oh-oh-oh! Look how that baby elephant can paddle!'' said Agnes. Everyone looked closer at the tank to watch Stompy and the other elephants swimming but they were all blocking Agnes' view.

''I can't see!'' wailed Agnes jumping up and down. Lucy picked up her youngest daughter, ''Here now, sweetheart'' she said. ''Thank you Mom'' said Agnes. Afterwards, the four females went to look the other animals, they looked at some polar bears. "THEY'RE SO FLUFFY!" squealed Agnes. One of the polar bears slid down a slide and into the cold water. ''Woah! They sure do love that'' remarked Margo. Then they went to see the giraffes. ''Aww, my favourite animals when I was a kid like at your ages, girls'' smiled Lucy. ''You like the giraffes?'' asked Margo. ''Yeah, my favourite was their necks. And their brown patches like they've been doing some disco'' replied Lucy. She and the girls also saw an aardvark, a seal, some crocodiles,

two gorillas, some chimpanzees, a hippopotamus, a giant tortoise, a herd of antelopes, a flock of bird species including parrots, and some American bison, and a wolf pack, and even camels. Lucy bought a balloon for Agnes and paid the balloon. She tied it to Agnes's wrist so she wouldn't lose it. ''Where do all the animals come from?'' asked Edith. ''From all over the world'' replied Lucy. ''Yeah, the workers bring them here so we can look and study them'' said Margo. ''Also some animals are in danger where they live. So zoos keep 'em safe and help 'em to breed'' added Lucy. ''Breed?'' asked Agnes. ''That means have their babies'' explained Margo. Lucy and the girls turned a corner when suddenly…. ''HELLO!'' said Gru loudly waving both his arms wildly.

''Gru!'' said Lucy. ''Dad!'' said Margo, Edith and Agnes.'' Ha-ha-haaaa!'' chuckled Dru. ''Uncle Dru!'' chorused Margo, Edith and Agnes. The four females embraced the brothers. Even three of the Minions: Kevin, Bob and Stuart had came along. ''I knew you'd change your mind'' said Lucy. ''Well, yeah, thanks to my brother'' admitted Gru. The family started over with the same animals Lucy and the girls saw earlier just to show Gru. He saw the lions, the elephants, the polar bears, the American bison and the others what the four females had already seen. Though Gru had some uncomfortable moments with the animals. A lion had roared ferociously at him, not liking him. One of the elephants, which was Stompy, had sprayed water from his trunk to make Gru soaking wet.

A bison huffed at Gru and a polar bear growled at Gru. Luckily, Gru had some good moments with the animals. One of the crocodiles reminded him of his couch, a seal impressed him by balancing a beach ball on its nose, Gru enjoyed the wolves since grey is his favourite colour, then a gorillas impressed him with their immense size and anger, then the antelopes had also impressed him. But still, Gru had mind the parrots all over him and a camel had grunted at him. ''That's giving me the humph!'' Gru had said. But then the family decided to get some ice cream so he cheered up at once. But when they reached the shop, they saw that the line was long, since the dark-skinned pudgy woman in the front was taking a long time, since she was making the staff add more whip cream onto her ice cream.

Gru was a terribly impatient man. He took out his Freeze Ray and aimed it at the line, "Freeze Ray!" he said laughing maniacally. The family walked the past frozen line towards the counter. ''Don't freeze me, man!'' begged the staff fearfully. Gru took the ice creams from the staff's hands. Bob put a teddy bear in the tip jar. Then the family went to see more animals they hadn't seen yet. A zebra, a rhinoceros, a kangaroo, ostriches, flamingos, penguins, a mountain goat, a wild boar, an octopus, a panda, a red panda, a grizzly bear, snakes, lizards, insects, a walrus, a moose, a porcupine, a sloth, beavers, lemurs, and even a talent show of dolphins. They watched a dolphin show where the dolphins jumped through hoops in mid-air. The crowd cheered and applauded.

''Time to go home now, everyone'' said Lucy later that evening. ''Awww'' whined Margo, Edith and Agnes. ''It's OK we can go another time'' said Lucy. ''Yes, as long as we don't get too wild'' said Gru. ''I hope we do'' said Dru. ''Dru!'' said Gru. ''Sorry'' said Dru. It was nighttime when everyone arrived home. Margo, Edith and Agnes all yawned. ''Come along, girls, bedtime'' said Lucy. ''Wait! Where's Stuart?!'' said Gru. He noticed there were now only two minions. Stuart was left behind at the zoo which was now closed. He was in the lion's pit surrounded by sleeping lions! ''Oh, strudel'' said Stuart in minionese.
