No-One But You (The Zephyr Endeavor)

Chapter 2: Quiet Coyote (Part 2)

Wade Wilson explored as much of Nebraska as he could in the span of one evening, and he did it with two cuties watching his every move. He eventually reserved two motel rooms. One room was for him, and the other one was for Victor and Ezekiel, just in case.

They were inseparable, and that "alliance" between the three of them was still pretty new. Wade wanted to make sure everyone was comfortable, and adjusting. He caught Ezekiel staring at him at least twenty times that evening, but the mercenary still didn't plan to act upon it.

He had a lot to say to the quiet coyote, but …

"Do you have any siblings?"

Victor Strange was full of questions, and it was helping someone settle his nerves. Ezekiel hadn't said much that evening, and he got even quieter after a while. Victor's questions seemed to help him stay engaged, so Wade made sure to answer them all.

The baby Strange asked about Wade's upbringing first, then he asked about why he moved to the United States. The mercenary told him that he was born in Canada, so Victor was curious. The merc explained how and why he left Canada, so the questions kept going. Did he have any siblings?

"Nope. Well, none that I know of."

"Is it true you've had like… a million wives?"

Victor had done a bit of homework on Wade Wilson. He meant to ask him about that a while ago too, but a bunch of other stuff happened. A bunch of good stuff happened, so…

Uhh, Wade gave the last question some thought. A million wives? It seemed like they were just hanging out at that point, lounging around and simply talking in the second hotel room.

Victor already made himself at home on one of the beds, while Ezekiel had himself all leaned up against one of the walls.

Wade was sitting down on the motel floor. He was looking up toward the bed, but every now and then his focus would head left.

Ezekiel was against the wall that was close to the window, and it was hard to tell if he was mentally in the room. Victor's question didn't seem to affect him, but you never know with him. Wade thought over the question, then he gave Victor an honest response.

"Victor, if my calculations are correct… I've had ten wives, BUT… not all at once. AND… there's an interesting story behind all of them."

Wade had to laugh. He had to shrug as well, because the number of "wives" even alarmed him after he calculated the bulk of his relationships.

Ten of them amounted to "marriage," but Wade wasn't going to explain or elaborate any further. He noticed that Victor's jaw almost dropped down to the floor, but Wade wasn't bothered by his reaction.

"TEN WIVES? How is that… how old are you?"

"I am 27 years old, and I guess you can say I'm a busy guy."

Wade gave Victor and Ezekiel a bright smile. He didn't care about that number, but he knew Victor Strange would flip out even more if he asked what his "body count" was.

Wade was not going to reveal that information, because that number was almost incalculable.

"Ok. You're 27, and… you obviously like guys too. Have you married any guys?"

LOL. What a cutie. The question forced Wade to choke down a laugh. Victor was looking too innocent in that moment, and his adorable questions were amusing the mercenary.

Ezekiel seemed amused as well, but he didn't seem surprised at all.

The Jackal was glad to see Wade and Victor interact. He was also glad for the questions, and grateful for Victor's endless curiosity. The Jackal experienced the same thing when he first met Victor.

The questions wouldn't quit, and Ezekiel remembered feeling flattered. Victor was always interested, and Wade didn't seem to mind at all.

"I've been with a few, but I'm sad to say that there isn't a single guy listed on my list of ex-wives. That could always change. I'm not married now Victor, soooo.. if you're interested…"

LOL again. Victor was the one that laughed the loudest. The baby Strange was definitely NOT interested in joining his roster of "wives," but he did like the fact that Wade was 27.

Victor's young mind settled on the fact that he was older, and he started thinking about what happened at Wade's house.

He was usually pretty promiscuous with Ezekiel, and that notion definitely picked up when Wade was added into the mix.

Holy Moly, Victor cleared his throat a little before he fired off another question. He glanced down at the bed beneath him first, then he looked over at Ezekiel for a moment.

He looked, cuz the next question had something to do with the three of them. The newest embodiment of the Sorcerer Supreme had a lengthy conversation about Wade Wilson with Ezekiel before they all met back up in Nebraska.

They had to have a chat about him, because all the feels going on were pretty hard to ignore.

"Do you consider this, or what's going on with the three of us to be… a relationship?"

Are we in a relationship? That's the crystal clear question that Victor attempted to get out of his system.

Wade could tell that the subject had him all flustered up, and it was super cute. The mercenary quickly translated Victor's adorable question, and he took a quick look in Ezekiel's direction.

No one in that room was hiding behind a mask, so Wade inwardly decided to stick with the theme and keep things honest.

"I believe the word alliance has been used once or twice, but… relationship works for me."

In the mercenary's expert opinion, a "relationship" with Ezekiel Stane and Victor Strange was clearly a packaged deal. He saw it as a two-for-one special, and Wade was more than happy to indulge.

The notion of consent was always key for Wade, so he was holding back on any deviant behavior until he heard something more from the quiet coyote.

The "White Jackal" could go days without saying a single word to anyone. Wade picked up on that when he observed him, back when he made arrangements to kill him.

He was talking a lot more and expressing himself thanks to Victor, and thanks to people like Steve Rogers and Charles Xavier. The mercenary thought that over as Victor cooked up another question.

"Well, how many guys have you been in a relationship with?"

Hmmmm… Wade had to think. He rubbed the right side of his precious face as he pondered another one of Victor's super-cute questions.

Wade liked the idea of having a cutie fanboy around him all the time, then he forced himself to actually process what was asked. How many guys? Hmmm…

"NOT counting the two of you, I've been with four men…so, six total. I wouldn't really call them relationships tho. We didn't date or anything like that. There was just an attraction, or whatever. I just, met up with them.."

Hot hook ups were a thing, but none of them were random. Wade pondered his activities a bit longer than normal in that moment, because a comment made by Charles Xavier suddenly struck the mercenary's mind.

That mutant freak-shrink told him that he had to "confront" his own corruption… remember?

Was excessive "relations" considered to be some form of corruption? Wade was trying to figure out where he was going wrong. Where was the hypocrisy?

Xavier seemed to think there was some hypocrisy going on in the secret sauce. Hmm.. Wade stretched his arms back a bit, then he slowly stood up from where he was sitting on the motel floor.

He needed to move his body constantly, and he started looking Victor over as he stretched his arms. Did he have anymore questions?

Cuz… now all the baby Strange seemed to do was stare. Victor was looking Wade over too, and he was thinking about what Ezekiel said about him.

The quiet coyote said Wade was very "experienced" and Victor was determined to understand what that actually meant. Based on his answers, yeah.. the guy was clearly experienced, and...

"Can I ask a question now?"

Wade smiled when he spoke. His voice was normally pretty sassy, so Victor smiled and he looked in a different direction. YES. Wade was free to ask a question.

Victor didn't say that out loud, but the look on his face was good enough for the mercenary. He stepped toward the bed, and his legs almost touched the side of it.

"I'm hearing that we're going from an alliance to a relationship. Who's idea was it to change up the language?"

Victor's adorable eyes were locked on Ezekiel, and they didn't shift at all after Wade asked his question. The question was VERY important, so "Deadpool" studied them both.

Victor and Ezekiel operated as a unit, but the pitch for a language change had to have come from only one of them…

Was it, Victor? Or was it… Ezekiel? Wade was leaning a little more in one direction as he studied the room. He was hoping the response would reveal itself, and he did notice a shift.

The quiet coyote looked away from the window, and his focus quickly locked on Victor. Wade started processing all of Victor's interesting questions, and he knew that Ezekiel was using them so he didn't have to speak.

Ezekiel Stane was very good at getting other people to do his dirty work for him. He was an expert at it, AND he was an expert at moving in silence.

Wade could see a small smile as it formed on his face, cuz clearly the jig was up. LOL. Wade caught him staring once again, so come on… let's go.

"Was it you?"

Victor had enough focus for one evening. Wade decided to change up the scene, in hopes of drawing out a word or two from their silent companion.

The mercenary wasn't forcing shit, but he really wanted to buckle down on the language change to their "arrangement" that's been discussed off and on.

Did Ezekiel want to be in a "relationship" with him, with Victor Strange forever by his side? The notion needed to be clarified and addressed.

Wade felt avoided for a pretty long time, and some information revealed by Charles Xavier made it even worse, so…

Well… Ezekiel was looking at Wade when the mercenary asked him if he was the one responsible for the change to the language.

The Jackal understood that he was a frustrating person to be around, and he felt that way even more as he glanced down at the floor.

The answer was locked up tight in his chest, and he didn't know why he couldn't say it. He wanted to answer, but… at the same time, he wanted to step back and cover himself entirely with his suit.

Maybe, it was the Surveillant Council?… Ezekiel felt stuck inside his head as he tried to figure it all out.

Truthfully speaking, EZEKIEL was the person pushing for a language change. He wanted their connection to change from being an alliance to something more. The fact that he couldn't just answer was bothering him, and Wade could see that. He wasn't blind…

"Look, the linguistics, or the wordanomics aren't that important. It's chill, and I think we all should get some sleep. I booked us two rooms, so you two can just crash in here and.."

Anddddd… Wade turned more toward the left, cuz he planned to leave and crash in his own room. He planned to remain outside the room anyway, if they weren't all shacking up on the same bed.

Remember folks, the mercenary was also committed to protecting Ezekiel as well.

"Goodnight cuties. I'll catch up with you both in the morning."

That was that. Wade wasn't gonna stick around and force the subject. He couldn't navigate that any longer, so Victor kinda covered his face as he watched him head out.

It was pretty hard to watch, and the baby Strange slowly pried his focus over toward Ezekiel. The "Jackal" looked…

He looked disappointed, and kinda sad. Truth was, Ezekiel was disappointed with himself, and confused. The words were there in his mind, but for some reason… they were unable to reach his mouth.

He felt a force going on beneath his skin as well, and the feeling he experienced was nothing that his technology could trace…
