No-One But You (The Zephyr Endeavor)
Chapter 28: (s)AINT (Part 8)
While some crime lord named Ezekiel Stane got all hooked and shacked up with Wade Wilson, Victor Strange was far off in some Asgardian land doing an army crawl toward the side of a cliff.
Thor Odinson was crawling up to the ledge as well, and he was advising Victor to proceed with caution. The demigod was explaining everything he could about the situation in "Nornheim", and he actually had Victor's full attention.
Oh the drama.
The baby Sorcerer Supreme was being told all about how the infamous Karnilla was actually married to Thor's older sister Hela, despite being in love with Asgard's noblest warrior, named "Balder" the Brave.
They both looked over the ledge as Thor explained, and Victor took note of how bright and beautiful the area was. It felt like he was inside an old story book, or whatever. The vibe was very Mother Goose, or some type of Hansel and Gretel shit…
The newly appointed Sorcerer Supreme was easily distracted, but he was working on that. Thor noticed that he was staring off toward the skyline and the scene around him. The colossal blonde gave him a smile, because Thor actually admired that sort of thing.
…
"So tell me Victor Strange, are you on good terms with your siblings?"
…
Thor was curious. He gave the baby sorcerer a giant smile, and the young man toward his left seemed surprised by the question. Was he on good terms with his siblings? Uhh, well yeah. Victor kinda shrugged.
…
"Yes. I don't see my brother as often as I'd like, but we all get along. My sister treats me like a child, but I love her…"
…
Donna was the best. Stephen was the best too, and Victor really missed having him around. He thought about that a bit more as Thor moved closer toward their vantage point. He stared down toward Karnilla's domain again, then he returned his focus back toward the youngest Strange.
He seemed a bit more than melancholy, and the demigod wondered if it had anything to do with what he said. The truth resided in Victor's connection with Stephen, cuz not having him around was leaving a bit of a void in his soul.
Victor wanted to talk to him all the time about, stuff… like what was happening with Ezekiel and Wade. OH YAH, Thor started talking about something else, so the baby Sorcerer Supreme did his best to look at him and re-focus.
…
"We can strike this evening, and free your people if you are up to that. I have a small team to utilize, with people that I trust."
…
It was a very small team, and the numbers were dwindling as time went on. Thor wasn't as trusting as he used to be, but he didn't want to bore Victor with details like that.
He migrated back from the edge of the cliff, and he said out loud that he wanted Victor to join him back at Asgard. Thor also shared his plan to introduce him to the "Warriors Three", and Victor gave him a kind smile. Cool. Victor was down for whatever, and pretty easy going.
He was the complete opposite of the previous Sorcerer Supreme, and Thor almost brought him up. His horrible connection with Stephen Strange needed to be addressed, so Thor decided to capitalize on the moment.
…
"Volstagg, Fandral and Hogun are my closest allies, and I'm certain that you'll all get along. There's only ONE person who presently troubles me. Can you guess who it is?"
…
UHhh… wait, what now? Victor Strange rose to his feet when they cleared the area, then he arched up an eyebrow after Thor switched up the subject. He understood what Thor was suddenly getting at, but the baby Strange didn't know the backstory. He also noticed his brother's icy attitude towards Thor back at the meeting, so…
…
"I don't think I can help you mend things with my brother, because I don't know all the facts."
…
"I'm afraid the facts don't cast me in the best light. See, I've been denying your brothers marriage to Clea ever since we met. I've been referring to him only as her, acquaintance.."
…
Victor's left eyebrow arched up even higher, and the baby Strange even took a moment to cross his arms. Stephen's salty attitude toward Thor became crystal clear immediately, and Victor started thinking the man was doomed.
…
"Consider it a joke that's run its course. I'm hoping to apologize and mend things."
…
"Well, are you attracted to my sister-in-law? If so, you're shit out of luck pal."
…
Victor wasn't going to help Thor mend jack shit with his brother if he had a thing for Clea. DUH. That was definitely a no-go for the baby Strange. He kept his arms crossed too as Thor took in his response. An awkwardness loomed between them immediately, and Thor looked backward toward some random rainbow road.
The demigod decided to divert the conversation toward the subject of their transportation. Toward Asgard, he said, and Victor clearly wasn't amused…
