Chapter 34: Head in the Clouds (Part 4)
Wade Wilson was staring back at a sweet old lady as he took the subway. She was staring at him for so long he thought she was blind, or maybe she was just shocked?
He was dressed as Deadpool, and the merc had a lovely young lady sitting beside him. Ezekiel Stane was present as "Rae-Ann", and he was thinking over the old woman's behavior as well.
The old woman gave him the most peculiar smile, and the Jackal figured it had something to do with his altered appearance. Rae-Ann was young, blonde, and the features Ezekiel chose for her image were strategic.
He decided to use the physical traits of a person who once lived, and she was reported to be very warm and friendly. Her looks weren't over the top attractive, but Ezekiel found her to be the perfect fit.
So, when the older woman smiled at him in the subway, Rae-Ann gave her a small smile in return. He glanced at Deadpool once or twice as the subway made its way toward the S.H.I.E.L.D. facility.
Wade looked over at Rae-Ann as well, and his mind began to ponder a thought about peanut butter and jelly. The vibe between him and Ezekiel felt a lot like PB&J, and the mercenary was happy for it.
They spent a whole week together, fooling around, and it felt exactly as it did before the Stark Expo. Ezekiel fixed things with Victor Strange after that, and Deadpool wasn't sure what that meant.
Ezekiel kinda went ghost on him, so Wade picked up their plans for S.H.A.D.O.W. to pass the time. That felt like ancient history, and Wade was glad to have Ezekiel around him once again.
They were sitting so close in that moment, so Wade couldn't help but think about peanut butter and jelly. Everything felt all gooey, soft and delicious. Wade couldn't get enough.
He'd been in millions of relationships in his life, but barely any of them had the same vibe. Wade couldn't even recall the last one that felt the same. Wait, relationship? That conversation was never technically clarified.
Uhh, they left the weird old lady behind when it finally came to their stop, and he kept a close eye on Rae-Ann as they started heading up.
They walked up to the main street, and they entered the S.H.I.E.L.D. base without any sort of issue. Ezekiel did his thing with the tall giant screen, and Wade ignored "logging in" entirely.
He wasn't going to conform to S.H.I.E.L.D. or the Surveillant Council. Those bitches were shit out of luck, cuz Wade Wilson only planned to "conform" for the person walking a half step in front of him.
Rae-Ann walked with grace, and her quiet demeanor didn't bother Wade at all. The peanut butter and jelly vibes carried on as they boarded the elevator. Deadpool almost said something as they stood close.
It felt like they both were leaning in, or holding each other up as they stood. Super cool, Wade was hooked. He didn't wanna say anything about it tho and kill the mood.
Ezekiel was thinking about his upcoming meeting with Charles Xavier. They had a lot to discuss, then there was the matter of knowing who planned to remain on his team.
He felt Wade's body pressed up beside him, and that presence helped him process everything and think. Ezekiel felt secure when Wade was there, guarded, and…

The elevator doors stopped abruptly, because someone prevented them from closing. A hand caused the elevator doors to open back up, and an interesting encounter began to take place.
Wade and Ezekiel looked directly at Tony Stark and Steve Rogers, because those two were heading in the exact same direction.

Rae-Ann's eyes hit Steve Rogers first, and the temperature of all the warm and fuzzy silence suddenly dropped ten degrees. Steve looked directly at "Rae-Ann" but he didn't say a word.
Tony spoke first, naturally, because there was sooooo much more going on behind the scenes. Stark simply gave everyone in the elevator a cordial greeting.
Steve Rogers was… processing. He read about Ezekiel's decision to alter his appearance, AND he read all about whose image he decided to use. He saw that altered appearance for the first time when "Rae-Ann" made a public announcement for S.H.A.D.O.W…..
He was still processing all of it, so he didn't say one friggen word. It was pretty awkward city between Steve Rogers and Ezekiel Stane, so Tony did all the talking in that elevator, and the blonde was forever grateful.
