No-One But You (The Zephyr Endeavor)
Chapter 36: Head in the Clouds (Part 6)

The dude named Nick Fury showed up all of a sudden, and he asked everyone to head into one of the "deliberation" rooms.

The vibe felt very serious, official, and mehhhh. The baby S.H.A.D.O.W. team complied and followed orders, as expected, but Wade Wilson didn't budge.

He kept his eyes on the door that was toward his left, and he didn't say a word to the director of S.H.I.E.L.D. at all. Fury understood Wade's behavior, and he looked at the door once or twice before he left the scene.

That fancy dancy yellow go-kart made its way out of the room eventually, but Deadpool focused more on the person who was walking behind Charles Xavier.

"Rae-Ann" looked cool, calm and collected, like always, and Wade smiled at her beneath his mask. He didn't even look in Xavier's direction, cuz, fuck him…

The shrink-mobile stopped directly beside Wade, and the mercenary heard a gentle greeting. Xavier said hello to Wade, and he asked him how he was doing. Grosssssss…

Deadpool huffed a little beneath his mask, then he forced himself to look down down downnn where the mutant was at. Charles was looking up at Wade, and he had a kind smile. It almost seemed sincere, but the mercenary wasn't buying what the man was selling.

He gave Charles a half-wave, or whatever, then he returned his focus toward the person behind him. Rae Rae walked up, and she waited for Xavier to enter the deliberation room before she said anything. It was going to be a long day, but that notion wasn't dominating Rae-Ann's mind.

A thought settled on Wade Wilson, and the "quiet coyote" gave the mercenary another kind smile. Wade liked the look of that smile, so he eased up on all his drama. It felt like they were alone outside the room for all of that bullshit "deliberation", so he stepped in a little close to the person who was forever-quiet.

"Hey there, Shiny. Are you nervous about all this?"

Ezekiel/Rae-Ann had a dream team to salvage, and a plan in mind to wipe out some psychotic mess. Wade figured he'd be nervous, but truthfully speaking you never can tell.

Ezekiel glanced up at Wade's mask, then gave himself a reminder about his current appearance. The image connected to Rae-Ann was most likely up for debate, but the Jackal planned to cross that bridge if he ever reached it…

He planned to fight Steve Rogers at every turn in order to keep her image, but, we'll see how it goes…

"Hello Wade. No, I'm not nervous."

Ezekiel glanced down at his own hands for a moment, because the infamous Deadpool did something that was a little more than unexpected.

He…

Wade touched his arms in a comforting way. He figured the coyote was nervous, remember, so the mercenary instinctively did what he could to change the vibe. Ezekiel drew in a long breath after that, because the gesture had him in a bit of disbelief.

It was a familiar gesture, and it reminded the Jackal of something that he used to… observe. The trip down memory lane brought up some flustered emotions, so Ezekiel quietly stared down at his arms.

"So, before we get all distracted with the meet and greet, I wanted to ask you something sorta serious."

Uhh, was it the best time for that? Wade wondered about it briefly after he spoke up. He had to ask Ezekiel something, and the mercenary felt like he'd put it off long enough. Ezekiel started studying the interesting looking utility belt that Wade had on display.

He designed a silly logo for himself. It stood out over his waist, and Ezekiel was amused with it. The thought of being asked something "sorta serious" caused a stir within the quiet coyote, but his poker face was unmatched.

"Rae-Ann" glanced into the room where their deliberations were meant to take place. The Jackal knew he had a few minutes to spare, so his eyes migrated back over in Wade's direction.

The mercenary looked over into the room of doom as well, and he quickly SHUT THE FRIGGEN DOOR. It was super distracting and what he planned to say to Ezekiel was meant to be brief. He planned to enter the "deliberation" immediately after, so…

"I was thinking, well, actually I've BEEN thinking that you should just, stay … with… me. At the house. It feels so PB&J there. I really like you, and I think everything just, fits…"

Right? Good call? Wade was excited about it. He didn't dwell on stuff, but what he said to Ezekiel/Rae-Ann in that moment had been on his mind for a long time.

The quiet coyote was half expecting what Wade asked, but his somber soul wasn't prepared for it at all. Ezekiel didn't understand the PB&J reference as well, but yet, he understood every word that was said.

The answer emerged quickly, but the Jackal held onto the words that formed in his mind before he spoke. He needed to think on it a bit more, but he didn't want to stall how it all felt. Ezekiel had Victor Strange to consider as well, so his mind took its time to settle.

Ezekiel responded shortly after. He spoke gently, and Wade's soul just about burst with what he heard.

"Wade I agree, and, I want to be near you all the time."

Whoa whoa whoaaaaaa. Wade just about flipped his shit when he processed that response. It felt like he won the lottery or something, and the mercenary told Ezekiel that right away.

The vibe felt perfect, but not too perfect, and Wade made sure to mention that as well. There was only one thing left to discuss, but Ezekiel held onto the thought. He had to hold onto it, because he wasn't sure how Victor would respond.

Coincidentally, Victor's older sister made her way toward the deliberation room. Donna Strange was a member of the Surveillant Council, as you know, and her presence was needed for that meeting.

She saw "Rae-Ann's" public announcement about S.H.A.D.O.W. a while ago, so she knew that the person standing in the hallway beside Deadpool was actually Ezekiel Stane.

Donna saw the tender moment going on between the two of them, but she missed what was said…

She tried to warn her baby brother about Ezekiel and Wade's growing connection. They were inseparable and Victor chose to be blissfully ignorant. It's safe to say that Donna wasn't a fan.

She didn't greet Rae-Ann, Ezekiel Stane, or Wade Wilson at all as she approached the door. Donna simply walked around them, and she let herself into the room for deliberation.

Her appearance as Donna Strange remained as well as she walked into the room. She normally disguised herself, and hid behind the borrowed appearance of whoever used to be known as the Ancient One.

Donna didn't want to do that anymore, so she walked into the room as her usual self. She was expecting someone to be there too, so she immediately scanned the room.

As expected, she saw her fellow Council members there in the flesh… Charles Xavier, Nick Fury, Steve Rogers, and Tony Stark.

Donna sat down beside Steve, and she looked at everyone else in the room. Her eyes locked onto "Agent" Natasha Romanov pretty quickly, then she looked over toward someone new.

Donna Strange pondered the behavior of James Buchanan Barnes there in silence. The "James" or "Bucky" Barnes she knew had been staying with her family for a long while now.

He was still out there drowning in Nebraska, while a completely different version of him stood there silently in the room….

It was pretty trippy, but ultimately, Donna Strange wasn't amused. She did her best to remain neutral and keep her personal thoughts out of the equation, but the notion of that was getting harder and harder to do…
