Chapter 5: Maximum Effort (Part 5)

While some individuals sped off to exotic lands such as Japan and Latveria, Ezekiel's "Surveillant Council" remained in the deliberation room and they carried on their own meeting…

That meant Nick Fury, Donna Strange, Steve Rogers, Tony Stark and Charles Xavier all stuck around, because they all could see that they needed to prepare themselves for what's to come.

"Now that Doom has re-located Ezekiel Stane, he's already tried to tap into specific parts of his mind. He's hunting for information on Wade Wilson as we speak, and are any of us surprised?"

Charles Xavier spoke first, because the point he made was tied directly to the underlying danger that loomed on the horizon.

You see, the infamous Deadpool clearly raised a giant battle flag during the meeting, and he relentlessly waved that flag in Doctor Doom's face the entire time….

They all wanted to shield Ezekiel from any possible damage going forward, because a nasty battle between Doom and Deadpool was bound to happen in the near future.

That was more than obvious, SO… his Surveillant Council decided to stick close, think, investigate, deliberate, and ultimately prepare themselves for the worst.

"This pissing match is going to get brutal. My brother just sent me something about Doctor Doom's cordial request…."

Donna Strange received a literal mental note from her older brother Stephen. He had a scheduled meeting with the infamous Victor Von Doom, and naturally, the siblings were connected during the entire conversation.

Donna was looking into what Stephen was hearing and learning, so her focus was a little more on the side of seeming distant.

Steve Rogers decided to take that moment and chime in. He looked over at Tony Stark and said the first thing that was on his mind.

"Tony, you gave Ezekiel the Mind Stone a long time ago. Is it actually being used in some way? Or, can't we use that somehow and keep Doom even more out of his head?"

Tony has only described Ezekiel's use of the Mind Stone as being dormant. It seemed like it was only taking IN information for Tony's sake, but as far as Steve knew…. that's been the extent of its existence.

The brunette thought over what Steve asked of him, and he quickly brought up an image of the Mind Stone as it was in Ezekiel's mind. That beautiful thing was glowing bright, "shiny" and gold.

"I'm still trying to understand the Infinity Stones myself, so I tap into them and study my hidden treasures any chance I get. I do know that Ezekiel has absentmindedly used the Mind Stone to create Rae-Ann, because it actually gives the person using it the ability to create life…"

Now, in this story, Tony and Ezekiel also created something called Vision together… let's not forget. There were a number of cards to play when it came down to protecting Ezekiel Stane from anyone, but deep down Tony Stark always placed his time and focus towards protecting himself.

BUT , when responding to Steve's yummy question, Tony really only wanted to give him an absolute.

"I still think it's too dangerous to flip the stone from being dormant to active. He's not ready to use it on his own, I'm afraid for him to use it on his own, and now I'm even more afraid for Doctor Doom to continue his snooping… He could flip Ezekiel's psyche in a snap, take that Infinity Stone for himself, and we'll lose Ezekiel forever."

As soon as Doom entered the scenario, Tony thought about extracting the stone straight away. You couldn't just snag a Mind Stone tho, I mean, that shit builds its own roots over time.

They all could see where the stone was branching out in his mind, up there on Tony's giant screen. So… now the Surveillant Council found itself in a giant mess.

Tony gave Ezekiel the Mind Stone for two reasons. Reason one was to keep tabs on him and to gather information. The second reason had to do with harmonizing Tony's abilities with his.

Tony was given that idea BY the Soul Stone, which he currently possessed, so… he had no real control over that decision, and it's all super crazy cool.

"I've instructed Jean Grey to continue suppressing elements of Ezekiel's mind, and she will continue keeping Victor Von Doom OUT of his head. We're being very careful, because Doom has the ability to overthrow both of us, once he figures out the structure we've built…"

It was all about power plays and mind games going forward, so Charles Xavier openly admitted that he was very nervous. He planned to introduce Ezekiel to a powerful mutant named Jean Grey at that meeting, but those plans were put on hold after Doctor Doom made his sudden appearance.

Honestly, anything could happen.. so the Council continued deliberating long after the original meeting came to an end.
